What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 18 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (48 of 59 positive).
Players praise the quirky characters and lighthearted delivery-themed RPG gameplay. [1][2] Some find the core mechanic of disobedient teammates frustrating and repetitive. [3][4][5] The game is seen as charming but undercooked, with slow UI and repetitive voice lines. [6][7][8]

The ingredients for a good game are here: quirky characters, fun visuals, unique gimmicks for an RPG, etc. However, at the end of the day, I can't recommend an RPG where the core gameplay mechanic is: Remember when your Pokémon got paralyzed and didn't do what you told them to half the time? What if there was a game where your entire team did that AT ALL TIMES FOR THE ENTIRE GAME. THAT's the core gameplay mechanic. …

Calamity Angels: Special Delivery — Board Games and Box Packing TL;DR: A charming and chaotic delivery-themed RPG that blends board game exploration, grid-based packing puzzles, and unpredictable turn-based combat. Gonna start off with saying this is one of those sorta games which makes me wish there was a neutral recommend option. To put it simply it's one of those games where you don't need a review. Just look at it and you'll know it's the sorta of game you'd enjoy or not. So why the thumbs up? While the plot isn't ground breaking by any means I quite enjoyed the quurkyness of the characters (I particularly liked Ivrus a …

this is definitely a very underrated game, the art style is cute and the fighting aspects are fun, the story is lacking a bit but the characters make up for it because they’re very diverse my only complaint is that the voice lines get VERY repetitive, throughout the fight and even just moving around on the map the characters will repeat the same two voice lines over and over and it gets annoying

Fun so far, the main focus here is the characters which are written to be funny and entertaining. Not a serious game so it's good to play when you want to relax and just enjoy the character interactions. That doesn't mean that gameplay is bad, even though it's a simple turn based game the dungeon exploration is fun even though you don't run around the dungeon you have to use a roulette wheel to decide how many …

neutral · AI labelView post →The game’s premise sticks fairly close to a classic fantasy setup. It takes place in a world where people are afraid to leave their cities because monsters roam everywhere. To stay connected and send items or information, they rely on a delivery service, and you step into the role of one of its members, choosing either a male or female character. The story is presented through the usual text boxes, with the option to use either Japanese or English voice acting. Because there’s a constant…

It supports play on Steam Deck. The game also includes Steam achievements. Plot and gameplay This is a world where danger lurks everywhere outside the safety of towns. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a nice little RPG with really quirky and likable characters. I especially like Somnia (my baby...) and Ivris. Neither the battles or the overworld deliveries are difficult (besides the final boss), but sometimes battles are annoying because your team members want to do something else when doing the right thing can end the battle there and then, even if their face and the tension up status tell you otherwise. (Somnia going right back to sleep again after the power nap that raised her…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The overall game is pretty fun and interesting, but the rng aspects can be really annoying when your one action away from ending the battle and suddenly no one on your team wants to listen to their most basic command. The achievement grind was reasonable at the start but then they made several monsters appearing rng dependent on top of it already being rng dependent that the skill needed to summon the monster be picked. This makes the grind unfufilling and boring, overall the game is fun enough…

neutral · AI labelView post →Finished the Calamity Angels: Special Delivery demo. Neat combination of Turn-Based RPG and Board Game and I'd say it's worth checking out.
positive · AI labelView post →24) Calamity Angels: Special Delivery Very cute board-game RPG with a super fun set of characters with fantastic designs. Love the Japanese VAs, the English VA seems very good too, but they have way fewer lines, unfortunately. Still, very fun Vita vibes here and some neat, chaotic systems.
positive · AI labelView post →Oh right this is Calamity Angels, which is believe is out today on PS4/Switch, but this was the PC demo. That version doesn't have a release date yet but I'll wait for it there. I had a lovely time with it! store.steampowered.com/app/3974290/...
positive · AI labelView post →The game is okay, but I'm mostly just disappointed by how very few of the story dialogues are actually voiced in English. Like, you'll hear them in like the first chapter or two, but beyond that it's mostly silence. Why even bother including an English dub when I don't even get to listen to them for like 90% of the game's story. At least give the game the same percentage of dub love like your Neptunia games. Even if not everything gets dubbed, at least the dialogues don't stay silent for too…

neutral · AI labelView post →Just completed Calamity Angels: Special Delivery - while it is a very easy game with a lot of RNG sorts of strategy involved, I still enjoyed it a whole lot. I only had one full party death - when one character randomly activated a skill slot machine that landed on "instant death to allies."
positive · AI labelView post →Calamity Angels: Special Delivery Before playing this, I don't think I would have thought a game where your party ignores you would be fun, but reading the characters' personalities and moods to suss out what they're likely to actually do each turn was very enjoyable.

neutral · AI labelView post →What just happened?... + good artwork + good localisation + colorfull menues + normal comedy anime troupe + interesting battle mechanics where mood, fear, passion etc. becomes important + RPG x Board Game + leisure gameplay + surprise mechanics across the board (and infight) + supreme Japanese VA - powerbalance is pretty much unoptimized - basically the fighting system is interesting, but limits itself to much in wheel of RNG-happenings - many characters are underwhelming or have problems to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Calamity Angels is not a bad game, it has the structure of a good game and the charm to carry it around, but it feels a little undercooked. Once the honey moon with the game gimmicks wear off, the game becomes a slog to play thru. Combine with the lack of challenge, large maps that have that limit your movement to 3 tiles, and the repetitive nature of the game, it's hard to recommend it. Somnia is the best girl tho.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developed by Idea Factory and Compile Heart and published by Idea Factory International, Calamity Angels: Special Delivery presents a refreshing spin on the Japanese role-playing genre by placing players in charge of an energetic courier company rather than a band of world-saving heroes. Set across the lively Orkotris Region, the game follows an eccentric cast tasked with transporting valuable packages through monster-infested landscapes and unpredictable routes. The concept immediately gives…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has some novel ideas, amusing writing, cute art, but it's all spoiled by a painfully slow and clumsy UI. There are very brief interstitial loading screens between everything. Just opening your inventory prompts a half-second delay. That might not sound like much, but it adds up, and it was enough to make me drop the game. This is, in most respects, a very light game, with not a lot of deep thought required. If you're going to make a game like that, then it needs to feel snappy and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some how the game is good. I like the ways characters could be out of control. But later on the map is quite large and boring.
