Card City Nights
Developer Ludosity
Card City Nights is not a traditional card-trading game. It's an adventure game with zany characters to meet and weird locations to explore. In the center is our new card battle system that breaks away from the fantasy TCG mold with connecting cards to form combos. From the Steam store page

Players praise the game's unique card-laying mechanics and strategic depth. [1][2][3] Many enjoy the chill atmosphere, soundtrack, and humorous writing. [4][5][6] Some reviewers find the game repetitive and grindy, especially against the same opponents. [7][8][9]

The gameplay is horribly repetitive. You have to beat the same opponent, who always uses the same tactics, multiple times to get a bunch of new cards. If you have bad luck you still will not have the card you are actually looking for. The optimal strategy to apply is often to be aggressive and disable enemy cards until they cannot play any new cards.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! I have finally beaten the game at the time of writing! :D , yay! If you like card-game type + strategy, this game is for you! Boy, some strats are required to beat some of the tougher players; The last boss is not easy to beat; lots of luck is required, i use a mostly offensive strats Would i recommend this game? : Definitely! Card City Nights is one of the few card games I genuinely love. It's very simplistic on the surface but over time has new mechanics implemented which really starts to complicate the game. The soundtrack is very chill, possibly a bit mellow. It suits the environment incredibly well and I was not expecting this kind of ambience. From my past experiences, Trading Card Video Games tend to go way over the top with their …

Great game. Highly Recommended. Pros: - Interesting and Well-Developed Mechanics - Solid Theme - Quick Paced ("Just One More Game" Effect will suck you in.) - Good Variety of Deck-building Play-styles to experiment with. - Possibly the best single-player deck-builder on Steam. Cons: - Clunky UI feels very much like a mobile or tablet game. - Relatively Low Replay-ability. You can experiment with different decks but …

While the art style was strange to me, the gameplay was oddly familiar These days I tend to avoid card battlers. Most of them feel bland or introduce some bizarre mechanic that turns the game into more of a chore than something fun to play. Card City Nights surprised me. The developer clearly has experience with trading card games because the gameplay feels surprisingly similar to Magic: The Gathering. It has enough …

60 of 208 · most liked firstWhat's a game that you played, but you feel like you're the ONLY one who's played it? Mine is: Card City Nights! A wacky cozy single-player deckbuilder with great art, humor, and music. The gameplay is simple, but opens a lot of fun little combos as you increase in difficulty. #TribLovesVideoGames
positive · AI labelView post →I like card games. I’m just not sure this is it. Card City Nights is a card-laying game where you strategically place cards on a board to form combos. Each card has a set of arrows, and if two cards have arrows pointing at each other, they’re part of the same combo. Match three cards*, and you get an effect. These effects range from damaging your enemy, disabling one of their cards, healing one of your disabled cards, or giving you extra health. The game is quite simple and easy to understand,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought it for 44 rubles in Feb 2014. Took me 11 years 6 months 2 weeks 4 days 23 hours 56 minutes to make myself beat it, as TCG is not really my genre, but this game is pretty nice
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was hoping that this game would scratch that single player TCG itch, but unfortunately it doesn't. There are 4 types of cards attack, def, neutral, and heal. Each card has little arrows which have to connect to other arrows so that they connect in a row of 3 or more, heal cards can do 2 or more, which wouldn't be so bad if the slog to get cards wasn't so annoying. The usual way to farm for packs is to beat opponents for packs but this is both annoying and boring. As at least for me in the…

neutral · AI labelView post →47. Card City Nights 1 and 2 The last single player, non-rougelike, not a gacha, just a card game, deckbuilder I've found to this date and I LOVE THEM. I loved the deck doctoring, the shenanigans, THE SOUNDTRACK, THE CHARM!! I love the mustaches.
positive · AI labelView post →Probably the first Ludosity game I'd ever say just isn't good. AI is a pain in the ass and "just so happens" to get the cards they need right when they need them, meanwhile you're stuck with just random ♥♥♥♥ the game wants to shove down your throat. Passing the tougher characters requires you to grind out cards from others which just takes an age and isn't fun or engaging, because the opponents keep the same strategy and do the exact same thing every battle, so your basically just going…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bit too grindy for my liking. Continuously fighting the same opponent over and over trying to have enough strong cards to move on to the next one isn't fun. Couldn't get myself to finish it. If you don't like grind then stay away. If you don't mind or actually like grinding, then ignore this review.

positive · AI labelView post →There's a game from 2017 called Card City Nights, which is a card battler where each of the sets is themed around a particular indie game. I remember it got me to look up a few games I didn't recognize because the art or flavor text piqued my interest. I wonder if it helped anyone with sales.
neutral · AI labelView post →The card game had enough depth to keep me interested throughout, the challenge was juuuust right imo, and the story and characters are charming dumb fun a la Yu-Gi-Oh animu. My only major knock is that it's short, but it's GOOD the entire time. Like, I could barely stop playing until I'd done damn near everything. I'll also say that I got through the whole game without a ton of trouble just by steadily modifying the starter deck into something more aggro and didn't experiment a ton beyond that,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has always been an amazing game. Wish there were more than two.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →About as fun and intuitive as trying to get the achievement in New Vegas to win 7 Caravan games
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a incredibly under rated, under the radar game! Really fun, and really well done!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way too slow paced, with very little turn by turn interesting gameplay. Pretty much every single card battle just becomes a waiting game. There is a lot of cards, but very little strategy in terms of making the decks. Most of the cards are just strictly better versions of other cards. The game is very reminicent of the card game from ff8 and ff14, and even though that card game is much simpler it still manages to be much more interesting and fun than this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh, quite boring card game. Doesn't even have multiplayer.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredible! My first impressions have been mixed, it reminded me of physical card laying games, but they game gets more interesting with every card you get. Arguably, this is probably the most captivating and jam-packed little card game you can get far and near. It is not very difficult but can be challenging at times. It is indeed a bit on the easy side and you can win most of the early games with pretty much any solid deck if played well - only the last matches require some tailored decks.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I personally found it boring. There's not much thinking or strategizing. There's heavy RNG aswell. It probably will not be in my library for much longer.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like card games and bizarre cartoon worlds? You'll probably enjoy Card City Nights.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was okay. Didn't blow my mind, and the story was boring, but the gameplay was interesting enough to keep me in for so long.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As an avid player of both Magic: the Gathering and Hearthstone, I am happy to report that this game holds up against these giants in terms of fun factor. But It's a hell of a lot cheaper.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mainly played it to get all achievements but was pretty enjoyable considering i'm not into card games as much anymore.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little cardgame adventure with a lot of humor. I enjoyed it very much.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just 100% the steam achievements on this game I would say that I enjoyed playing it! I really appreciate the game genre. There isn't a lot of deckbuilder-cardcollectiong-storymode games and I wish there were more! So that is a big plus. The experience of playing it was a bit up and down. I liked it to a start but after a while the Bo5 matches got a bit repetetiv and draged out on the time and it was a bit hard to make a deck that could put out enough damage to acctually dafeat someone in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Card City Nights is a game by Ludosity, the makers of Slap City. It's a quirky little card game with an eclectic cast of characters, many of them based on others in the Ludosity pantheon. It also draws characters from Daniel Remar's games, such as Iji And you can date a girl who REALLY likes rocks.
neutral · AI labelView post →No pressure. Take your time, wander the city building up decks by defeating opponents for booster packs. You can play in a window if you want to multitask. With the right deck build and a little luck you'll own the city.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easy to learn fun little game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Schedule time. Tomorrow we begin the next game clearing which is Card City Nights! Thursday I'll be showing off a game I enjoyed as a kid and Friday I will finally be trying out MechWarrior 5

I couldn't find another I like. Closest is Balatro For a tactics game, I would pick Wargroove, but that wasn't on mobile first

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game. The characters, the ost, the gameplay, the story, the art style ... it's all very well put together.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really love how charming the art style and cards are for this game, the deck building can be quite deep if you want to try to take on the optional bosses. But its main story is nicely balanced and quite fun to play through. I beat the game twice and honestly playing through it casually is very relaxing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah it's pretty cool. Don't have much to say - fun strategy card game with humor that vibed with me.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic from nearly 8 years ago, still pretty fun little card game. Wacky characters and good gameplay. If you have the game in your library from a bundle give it a shot. Also don't bother with Card City Nights 2, the sequel made a lot of sacrifices to make a 'balanced' 2 player experience and the gameplay suffered HORRIBLY.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →innately boring system
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was my first foray into the 'ittle dew universe and, as forays go, it was rather enjoyable. Quirky humor abounds. Gameplay is rather straight forward. Depending on your style of play, there is good strategy here with the amount of cards available.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The second game is better but I still enjoyed my time with this one primarily because of the funny dialogue. It's a pretty good deal for the money, even more so if it's on sale. Play the card city nights 2 first and if you like it then try this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I reached far too many stalemate situations where I couldn't place any cards on the grid and this just made the game boring and frustrating. The game-play overall as well as the art-work was a bit dull as well. Pass. Top 10 - Deckbuilding Roguelikes... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yHSJYjMfmE
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is one of my favourites of all time. The chill atmosphere and BANGER music with the comedic writing that makes Ludosity so memorable, all combined with an easy to learn, self-aware card game keeps me coming back. So much so that I bought the physical cards for it even though I don't know a single other person irl who knows how to play. I love this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really tried so hard to like this game. but the card balancing ruined it for me. Some cards in the same categories (attack, defense and recovery) are just ridiculously better then others to ridiculous degrees, to the point I'm utterly convinced winning with your starter deck is impossible. The game normally revolves around matching 3 cards together (connecting arrows together on a board) but opponents later on have cards that can attack in just pairs instead of trios and you can't get them…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid CCG combining multiple Ludosity & Co. properties into a one mish-mash world. The battle-mechanic is built around connecting card-pieces together in a 3x3 grid. The story takes a form of a visual novel. There are minor pixel-hunt secrets. And half of the music is absolutely amazing, there's even some acid-jazz.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting concept hamstrung by poor execution. First getting cards is an incredible grind -- once you've beaten someone, look forward to beating them repeatedly to get packs to get rares (which are VERY rare). Second, you'll need those rares -- enemies quickly start throwing down decks with many rares and powerful uncommons. Third, strategy-hate is a real problem. Revive is way too strong against board lock, running out an opponent's deck + defense i sway too strong against offensive rush,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Card City Nights is a very basic deck-building game, you fight other characters in the game to earn more money and booster pack and in order to challenge the leaders and get their special "legendary cards" to challenge the card creator. Each turn you must put a card from your hand on the board in order in order to achieve as the end result 2 of the winning conditions: either lowering the life of your opponent to zero or by leaving him with no more places on his board to put a new card. This…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is actually really great! but first lets go through the story Card city nights is mostly about you going through the ranks of the citys local players with all kinds of faces from bar owners to skater kids. the card game they play isnt overally named but it comes down to pointing up to three arrows and creating combos PROS - Fun Card interactions with interesting playstyles and ways of play - Story is kinda interesting - Card arts are really fun and referency to pop culture and video…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Characters in Card City Nights only ever refer to its TCG as "The Card Game", which has left me in an awkward situation because I'm trying to print out decks for a party and have no idea what I'm supposed to tell everyone we're playing. Its focus on comboing card effects through their positions on the field really does set it apart from other TCGs, and while it has some balance issues I had a ton of fun with it. Though it does have a sequel, so much was changed between 1 and 2 that I still…
