Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 280 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (34,195 of 36,231 positive).
Players praise the satisfying power fantasy of controlling a monstrous creature. [1][2][3] Many note the game is short but fun, best enjoyed on sale. [4][5][6] Several reviewers criticize the lack of a map and repetitive gameplay. [7][8][9]

I didn't enjoy this game for the most part. The "tags" for this game is kinda misleading. Yes there is action, but very little compared to what you actually do in this game. 90% of this game consists of wandering around a big maze of levels and doing puzzle stuff. It's a glorified puzzle-metroidvania (a.k.a. lots of backtracking) game with a sprinkle of action rooms (mostly near the end of the game). I actually find …

man, what a satisfying experience. controlling the monster you play as feels smoooooooth as a butter. the fluidity of movement does ALOT of the heavy lifting when it comes to gameplay, i don't think i ever got tired of just being a horrible, writhing mass of gore, getting my grubby tentacles all over the walls and floors. wondrous power fantasy. the combat itself is not all that varied, given there is like 5 enemy …

This is a fantastic game, to be honest. You can grab it on sale for 90% off and it's incredibly worth the price. Even at full price, I'd say its a well-made game. Sure, the gore and the idea of being a monster or reverse-horror may not appeal to everybody, but to the niche audience it does appeal to, this game ticks all the boxes. The ending, especially, is mind-boggling. Trust me, give it a try.

This game is an awesome reverse horror experience, filled with puzzles and difficult, but not unbeatable, challenges. It's great all across the board. I will say that this is NOT an action game, this is first and foremost a puzzle game that includes a lot of backtracking at times. It's also pretty big, so prepare to get lost occasionally. Carrion is pretty short. I was able to 100% the game (probably one of the only …

What a breath of fresh air with this genre. This is such a fun idea. Im going to play the biomass outta this. Cannot believe I have never heard of this before. World and art are gorgeous. Its so fun to hear the little people scream. You feel like some sort of god. Then you start meeting the troopers and realize your mortality pretty quick. I love how the story unfolds with the alternate character controlling. Fun …

positive · AI labelView post →I got this game for 90% off and for that price I can unconditionally recommend it to anyone who thinks that the premise is neat. Would I say buy it at full-price? No. But if you're looking for a few hours of fun you can certainly find it here. I should note that I did not 100% the game and get all the achievements, and I don't plan on playing again to do so. To reiterate; buy it on sale, there are much worse ways to spend 4ish hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Carrion is a fairly fun and short game about being a huge ass flesh monster. The game doesn't really change much throughout the playthrough, though that's fine, as it's short enough as to where it doesn't get boring. The only gripe i have with it is the controls, once you get to the large monster level, it gets super unwieldy, annoyingly so. But still, it's fun, really fun, highly recommend!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →9. Carrion "Reverse horror" metroidvania where you play the monster? It's ridiculously fun, and while I found the lack of a map was frustrating (look up a walkthrough if you get lost), it was a grisly, gore-glistened delight. store.steampowered.com/app/953490/C...

neutral · AI labelView post →Cool concept, but the gameplay loop is super repetitive. I find it really annoying to back track through areas without a map.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not necessarily a horrible game, but not a good one either. It's also definitely not worth the full price tag. It has an interesting concept where you play the monster, and it has some pretty vicious pixel art, but that's about it. The game is short, sitting at about 5 hours. Thorough those 5 hours you have to do lots of backtracking, especially if you want to grab all the upgrades. The icing of the cake is that there is no in-game map and the maps are convoluted.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Start of the game is fun but after that it becomes quickly tedious and frustrating... No map is a bummer. Controls are not precise enough. The ending part where you have to get the last containements thingy is just infuriating as hell. Without any map, having to switch forms to get specific powers and backtracking so much, just not fun... Finally, the game is too short, 100% in 5 hours for the full price, get it with on sale.

It packs a solid amount of enjoyment into its 5-8hr-ish campaign and doesn't outstay its welcome. (My playtime is higher due to afks). neutral · AI labelView post →First playthrough review time. CARRION is a unique game with an idea you don’t see very often. Instead of playing as a hero, you control a strange creature that escapes from a lab and hunts the people inside. The visuals and dark atmosphere fit the concept really well and make the game feel different from most other action games. The gameplay is nice and you explore the facility, eat enemies to grow bigger, unlock new abilities, and use them to get through different areas. There are also…

A great (yet short) little indie game, it took me one sitting of around 3.5 hours to 100% the game. If you got the time to get cozy and commit, playing it in one session is the way to go. And obviously, if meat and flesh and body horror freak you out, it would probably do you well to dodge this one. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like it but the complete lack of a map in this metroidvania became too much for me. Most of the time I was aimlessly bouncing around everywhere trying to figure out where to go. It is truly a shame because the concept is so innovative.

positive · AI labelView post →There is one thing you have to know before buying this game. This is a pure power fantasy. If you want a challenging game this is not for you. Power fantasy games are rare. In most cases they fail because the developers get the belance wrong. Sounds easy, at the end of the day, power fantasy is power fantasy. In my humble opinion, this is a great game. It has some flaws but in general a great indie title. You are playing as an alien.... mass(something like in the film ,The Thing) and you grow…
