Children of Silentown
Developer Elf Games, Luna2 Studio
Children of Silentown is a dark adventure game that tells the story of Lucy, a girl growing up in a village deep in a forest inhabited by monsters. People disappearing is nothing uncommon here, but this time, Lucy is old enough to investigate on her own. Or so she thinks. From the Steam store page

I hate leaving negative reviews, especially on indie titles that need the support, but I genuinely don't understand where all these positive reviews are coming from. It's tedious, the burn of the story is so slow, and the frequency of the puzzles so often versus actual plot advancement, you might as well just watch a playthrough on youtube. The art style is charming, the characters are fun, but the game asks the …

A tiny, dark story with a premise a bit similar to The Village by M. Night Shyamalan but carrying out very differently. The mystery is gripping and you seriously want to know what's out there in the woods. The artwork looks so good and puzzles are not too difficult, but sometimes it's not too clear what to do and the temptation of checking a guide is strong. Overall it's a satisfying game and worth your time. …

Thoroughly enjoyed this dark cozy game. Loved the Tim Burton-esque/hand-drawn style along with the eerie storyline. The puzzles were not too complicated, only time I found myself scratching my head was when I got lost in the woods...for like a whole hour lmao Great game, it was an 8/10 for me!

I fell in love with this game. it's so poetic, the artwork is lovely. I was moved by the story, I felt sad for everyone. It was excellent, would recommend 100%

Children of Silentown is a dark, story-focused adventure with a creepy fairy-tale vibe. You play as Lucy uncovering secrets in a quiet village surrounded by monsters. The art style is beautiful and the atmosphere is unsettling. The puzzles are simple, but the mystery keeps you interested.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was really looking forward to trying this game, which is likely why I felt a bit let down. This game feels like it is directed at children more than adults. The scary aspect, which I was really looking forward to, wasn't scary. Positives: 1) Nice artwork 2) Good concept 3) Song puzzles were pretty perfect for complexity Maybe it was because I haven't played a point and click for a while, but I found these aspects annoying: 1) cut scenes seemed to last a long time 2) there was a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an ok game for one playthrough, but if you want to get all achievements and endings - do not buy, it's extremely frustrating. Tons of unskipable cutscenes, poorly made chapter system (if you jump to later chapters after your first playthrough the game will change your choices in the chapters before that) and the game bugged out for me and i still can't get the last achievement even though i got it in the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Children of Silentown is one of those mid-games that you just wish were a bit better - there's not much wrong with it, but for the most part it's really unremarkable. I mean, the artstyle is probably it's best element, very reminiscent of Broken Age, but with slightly worse animations. It's still consistent and enjoayble all throughout the game's runtime, which feels great. I also imagine it costed 100x less to illustrate and animate than Broken Age, so one must wonder what Tim Schaefer and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you have dyscalculia? Then this game is not for you maybe. As I really struggle to see and understand how patterns work. The two puzzles I've come across so far are exactly that: Pattern puzzles. It truly sets me back that I can not progress in the story by myself, on my own time. I have to wait until my trusty friends are available and can solve them for me. So I can move forward in the game. I'm disappointed that there isn't a variety in the puzzles. Because so far the story is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to just thumbs this game down, but I'm required to also state why I dislike this game, no problem. The biggest issue s I have with this game are: 1. The puzzles are repeated constantly. You get the same annoying puzzles over and over with just a few changes to them just so they can say it's different. They rarely add any new mechanics to even make them more fun. In my 14 hours of playing the game so far, there were only four puzzles that were done over and over. There was a fifth…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →what a joy to play! - I loved the artwork, story, the puzzles and minigames - a big bonus was that all the achievements were doable - we played this game on the Discord Senscape server as a group play and I did get help from the other players - I truly recommend the game, it was a lot of fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, but in the end I just found it too tedious, I made it through a lot of chapter 4 but I eventually just wasn't interested in continuing. I didn't find the puzzles very fun and it boiled down to a lot of backtracking and clicking everything a million times to find things.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the creepy atmosphere of this game throughout the numerous mini games not so much still worth playing though as the minigames don't have randomized solutions so if you get stuck there are walkthroughs for them yes I used them don't judge me lol
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't recommend this game at full price. The mystery surrounding the world, the dangers of the forest, and missing townfolk are all so incredibly engaging, but are ultimately ruined by a lackluster ending (any of them, really). Children of Silentown poses such a large question that it leaves unanswered after players suffer puzzle after redundant puzzle.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's a cute game, it is lacking in direction (no hint or task system), had to look at a walkthrough because some things are so random... I recommend it only if it looks like something you're into One thing I don't like is the no manual save option - to see all the endings (there are 4) you have to replay the whole 5th chapter, which after knowing what to do will still take 20 min or so (I'm guessing)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are 3 minigames that are repeated throughout the game. 2/3 of them are absolutely horrible and not fun. They might be palatable for the first time, but they repeat soooo often. I ended up using a walkthrough for them.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For me, unfortunately, this game was just not it. The story had great potential, but I feel as it was rushed to the point where the plot made no sense. Nothing was explained in all endings, and for all trophies you have to replay the game FOUR times, since it has autosave which you cannot turn off.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great story. But with the achievement I really needed a guide. And you have to play the last level like 4 times to get the last achievement. Bit annoying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the art, but the actual game didn't appeal. There are only three puzzle styles; the pacing is miserable; and the story arc falls short.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Verdict 👍 Recommended (but not for me) I played Children of Silentown for about 0.1 hours and then turned it off. It’s not really my type of game, but I can still recommend it because it clearly targets players who enjoy slower, story-focused adventures with atmosphere and mystery. I just wasn’t in the mood for that kind of pacing, but I can easily imagine the right person getting fully absorbed. Quick signals 💸 Value: ✅ "That'll do, pig. positive · AI labelView post →talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, but... no, don't play it if you value your time and peace of mind i would've clicked recommend if not for the dam puzzles (the labirynth specifically, others are good, i liked them) labirynths make the game so not fun, forcing me to open google every few minutes and follow walkthroughs, taking away all the joy i had for the plot i wanted to replay it to see other endings and maybe get more achievements but for the sake of my…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Children of Silentown is a great point-and-click adventure with a beautiful art style, fitting background music, and a unique, dark story. There was a good number of puzzles, and they weren't particularly difficult. I didn't notice any bugs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a dark and cozy point and click adventure. While I couldn't wrap my mind around the gears puzzle and needed to watch a walkthrough for the answers, I really enjoyed the story, and I feel like its one of those games that really makes you think, and sits with you for a long time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →such a beautiful and sweet story, with some really nice twists and turns. With some decent puzzles as well, even if I totally got stumped a few times (but that was definitely me not thinking outside the box, or completely forgetting about certain things / ideas)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just kinda wish there was an option to sprint, but other than that, a really nice, interesting mystery-ish game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting game with a rather unconventional story, but overall it was very good. The game features quite a lot of different puzzles. Since I’m not a big fan of puzzles, some of them gave me trouble, but with a bit of help from the internet, I managed to solve them 😄
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the aesthetics! Also, the puzzles are neat (fairly simple too, which is perfectly okay) and satisfying The story is pretty straightforward and the end is a little bit predictable, but I didn't mind Overall I had a good experience so I don't mind it being simple and not too deep.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could have been a very good game but the ending is very halfassed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked this game, the story telling is very well done. The button puzzles are fun. The gear puzzles are awful. It is no fun when you have to look up how to solve every single puzzle on youtube cause you do not want to spend 6 hours of your life on one or several puzzles in a video game. Had I known about these puzzles, I would not have bought the game. Glad I got it on sale. I stopped playing the game, and just watched the how tos on youtube, not as satifying, but still got my fix.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good atmosphere, but the puzzles are boring, repetitive and annoying. The ending is very disappointing, it explains nothing at all despite building-up a good mystery.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow Children of Silentown is a super interesting game i love the art style and the atmosphere is amazing. Thank you soi much to all the people who came in it surprised me to see so many tonight im in awe and feeling ecstatic

neutral · AI labelView post →I enjoyed the game and the story and would recommend it. There is something rather annoying though, while there is a chapter select at the end, it is deficient. Without spoiling anything, at the end of the game you choose from available endings, but it seems you need to needlessly replay that final chapter in full each time instead of jumping to the choice padding the game time by another 2 hours or so. One pair of the achievements is even worse and because the achievements are mutually…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This would have been an excellent experience weren't it for one dumb decision the devs made at the end that kinda ruined it for me but i will get to that last, as i want to praise the game first. This game is absolutely stunning... I didn't know i liked this artstyle so much until i found this and it's so gorgeous. I loved all the animations and the weird eyes and the creepy undertones in everything it's so immersive and dripping with atmosphere. Please devs make more games in this style…

neutral · AI labelView post →This game follows a kid living in a village tucked deep in a forest that everyone agrees you should never, ever enter, mostly because of the roars that echo out of it every night and the fact that people occasionally just vanish and nobody seems too shocked about it anymore. Lucy, being a video game child, decides the correct response to "everyone in my village is quietly traumatized and disappearing" is to go investigate personally. Kids in these games never once consider therapy as an option.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The few things that struck me when I played this game: The Atmosphere The Music The Art The Theme The Story & Mystery While the gameplay isnt identically the same, the first game that came to mind was Deemo! This game is such a beautiful and hidden gem, the melancholic and somber vibes. The story telling and narrating. Point&Click and exploring this mysterious town. And simplistic yet insane (at times) difficulty of the puzzles! Highly Recommend to any of those that vibe on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is pretty decent honestly, however it's only around 5 hours of gameplay and the story felt like it left a lot unanswered. Even though I enjoyed it, it's not worth what it cost.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, I love everything about this game - especially the soundtrack and the art style. <3 The mini puzzles are a bit repetitive, but personally, I don't mind. I also didn't find the game too difficult, tbh. But I guess it's not for everyone. ദ്ദി(• ˕ •マ
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before the game came out, I played the demo and knew I would like it. I added it to my wishlist and waited for the right time to buy it and play. I waited wayyy too long. This game is for sure somewhere on the top on my list of favorite games. I loved every moment of it, it was interesting through the whole story and those endings, wow. They were all incredible and made me really think about everything that happened in there. I love this game so much and I recommend it to everyone without…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice game, lovely art style and a really great story! The soundtrack and singing definitely steal the show and are a fundamental piece of the game. What I loved the most were the different outcomes at the end of the game and that (and this is just my opinion) you don't get just a good or bad ending because, just as in real life, the story that's being told is far more complex than that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm playing a new game: Last Time I Saw You I heard people comparing it to A Space for the Unbound and Until Then, which is good because they both rock (especially ASFTU). For now, the game reminds me strongly of Children of Silentown and a little of Night in the Woods! #LastTimeISawYou
neutral · AI labelView post →It was interessting until the puzzles came.. I liked the art style, the music, atmosphere.. but don't have time for puzzles anymore... they are making me sleepy.. Atleast a skip button could be there for them. I will pass on this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →charming little game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was invested in the story - but I didn't really like the way it was wrapped up at the end. I feel like I still haven't completed it, fi that makes sense. While I enjoyed the sewing puzzles, I didn't like the bridge puzzles (that seems to be a consensus I've seen) - Mostly wish there was more variety of puzzle. I liked piecing together the spice jar pictures, that was fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Children of Silentown is a beautifully crafted game. It has a gorgous art-style, a compelling story, and clever puzzles. Overall, It's really enjoyable to play. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes something a unique, well-written story with lovable characters, that has an overall eerie and mysterious vibe.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very solid game with good puzzles and really interesting mystery considering the forest.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →story goes nowhere -- not thoughtful, just random. half the puzzles are super hard (gears turning specific tiles in grid to make path from one end to another -- or between five points (!)). def walkthrough material. not even pretty to look at.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →short, good game, scratched the itch i had for a point click game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3.5/5 Storyline? Solid. It kept me hooked and was the main reason I pushed through. But the game has multiple endings and no save system to go back and try different choices, so unless you want to replay the whole thing from scratch (I don’t), you’ll never see them all. Huge letdown. Puzzle-wise: the sewing ones were fun. The labyrinth ones? Frustrating. Glad I played it, but I’d only recommend it if it’s on sale.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Summary: I would play it again. Story is excellent. I found myself so easily engrossed in the story and figuring out the puzzles. Story: i don't know where to start. It is a simple story. No spoilers but the creators did a good job of making the world feel deep and the people feel alive. I liked how the lore was told in the world by each character and not shoved in my face with a wall of text. Gameplay: Very linear. You can't mess up unless you want certain endings or certain friends or…
