Very promising in its conception, but ultimately flawed in execution. Above average realistic approach to tactical WWII combat with suppression playing a role, interesting historical tie-ins, and lots of cool gear. Some of the gameplay mechanics in this are genuinely infuriating. The morale system is the biggest BS I've ever seen. With the 'broken' status, a single unit type can lock down your entire team through perma-stunning, regardless of how much HP you've built, or even morale resistance for that matter. 'Wah wah he sprayed machine gun at me,' cry these pathetic soldiers. Playing stealthy could be great, except it …

I rarely provide reviews for games in steam, but I feel compelled to do so here just to counter the unfair negative comments that are making it "mixed". The game is WWII XCOM. It would be recommendable if that were simple are there was to it. It's very enjoyable to play. My only quibble is with the fact that the AI opponents can see downed bodies, but don't react to them. Other than that, it's a solid game. Good …

Finished the game in 18h playtime. If you like the WW2 scenario and Xcom style game combined, go for it! Before buying i read reviews that there were bugs (i did not encounter a single bug) and that there are endless waves of re-enforcement ruining the game - this was also no problem as they only appear when the objective is done and you are supposed to run, not endlessly fight. Overall a really solid game.

The more I play TF2 Classified, the more I realize the biggest things I miss about old shooters is custom servers, and staying in the same lobby once a match is over. I spent a good 4 hours in the same server just shooting the shit with strangers. I haven't felt this in a multilayer game in years.

Classified: France ’44 is a turn-based tactical strategy game set in the weeks leading up to the Allied invasion of Normandy. It combines stealth, guerrilla warfare, and traditional squad-based tactics to offer a fresh take on WWII strategy games. At its core, Classified: France ’44 borrows inspiration from titles like XCOM and Commandos, but adds a unique tension mechanic. Every action—moving, firing, or even being spotted—generates “suppression” and stress, influencing how enemies react.…

I like the setting of the game and the grafic design and story line, but there are so many design issues that - for me - completely destroyed the fun. Just as an example - even if you split your team and hide them at different locations on the map to prepare for simultaneous attacks against targets in a following turn, all team members are instantly recognized by soldiers if just one of your guys is spotted.

Strange morale mechanic. Generally run out of morale before health. Break the the morale and the character becomes effectively incapacitated, not matter any of his other stats. But he's not dead, so stay there an keep poking him and his tons of hp. Reverse is true because you can't evac your teammate because he will just sit there getting poked at while unlimited reinforcements come. Not for me.

It's a good game but it's so obsessed with counting to the extent I can't recommend it. There's a limit to the number of stealth kills, a limit for turns on objectives, a limit on mission length, a limit on game length, a limit on using characters. Everything is limited to make the situations seem stressful and it's easily the worst aspect of the game. For example, the limit on stealth kills seems to be a cover for enemies not detecting corpses. Something which is pretty funny when you turn on…

Sadly, I cannot recommend this. I'm not bad by any means at these games, I've played plenty of similar games... But some of the end game missions are beyond impossible, entirely because of RNG. Some missions force you to face upwards of 20 enemies at once, while you have 4. Even if you were more powerful than them, this wouldn't be an easy task... But that's the thing. You aren't. If anything, *they* are more powerful than you. Most of your troop is 2 shot away from getting downed at all…

I can not recomend this game to anyone. Its an unfinished mechanical mess. Also an unbalanced bug fest. The game freeze for 10 minutes after each AI turn. Making a 20 minute mission into 3 hours. Examples of unfinished mechanical mess: - You use a knife to take someone out. After the attack is done the UI freezes so you cant select any of your soldiers. You have to reboot the game or restart the mission. But if you use a knife again then the same happens. How ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard is it to fix this? -…

I’m a big fan of turn-based tactical games, and this one delivers on many of the things I look for in the genre. Unfortunately, the experience was dragged down by too many frustrating bugs and unfair mechanics. Enemies can sometimes spot you, shoot through walls or doors, and even kill you when they should not have a clear line of sight. I also was not a fan of the mediocre pencil-sketch art style used between missions and on the title screens. Overall, there is a solid tactical game here,…

I liked laser squad, xcom and similar games. WW2 is a period I've long been interested in and the game got some good reviews so I thought this is going to be the game for me. It's got some interesting aspects. Emphasis on suppression is very realistic. Beaten zones, yep. It's got some odd aspects. Like there is good reason to make sure you've got a good pistol. The ap and suppression system means you can fairly often gain from some wild pistol shots. You're short of ap, there's a german…

A slight twist on the X-com genre that should be great (awesome setting, generally fun missions, and an interesting new "morale" system. However, it's ultimately bogged down by poor systems performance (long load times and slow character animations that love to momentarily freeze), a loot system that makes comparing what you already have equipped to what you could purchase a huge pain, and a talent system that feels bloated and duplicative. Most frustratingly, you can pull off a near…

This "masterpiece" is very shallow tactically and only playable up to the middle of the game. Once enemy level is more than 3, enemies become so jacked up with health and morale that you need multiple shots to lower either one but they can still completely ruin your morale with single shot. For some retarded reason, progress and upgrades of my team are much slower than how quickly enemies gain strength. It is so ridiculous that enemies that have barely any health left after being hit multiple…

Terrible game. Not only does it have the same RNG system as many other squad-based tactics games, where your guys can get blown away even when in full cover, but this game goes even further and is even less enjoyable by introducing the worst mechanic I've ever seen in a tactics game: the morale system. Now, not only is your health left up to RNG, but it doesn't even matter because enemies will just fire wildly at you and drain away all your action points so you can't do anything but sit there…

The game is a great base. It's a bit overcomplicated ( i still have no idea what's going on on the map because its so chaotic), but the gameplay is very fun. One big issue i have is that when your stealth killing enemies you hit a limit and then the game makes you go loud and alert everyone with an ambush. Its so dumb, why even give the payer the option for stealth kills if you're just going to railroad them into not using stealth. That's like game dev 101. Im really just writing this review…

A very fun "X-com-like" set in WWII behind enemy lines in occupied France.  The game lets you make some tough choices, both on the overmap as during battle.  Just like in X-com the game shows percentages to hit before you shoot, but unlike X-com missing is not as punishing because you can also deplete the enemies moral, pinning them to their spot. The game haves some optional stealth missions (eighter Ambush where after a set of stealth kills all your soldiers get their action points…

I should have liked this game. But it ended up being a bit of a bore. For a game whose combat is predicated on enemy line of sight, its poor. Stealth is badly designed. Your units can be in positions where a blind man could see it, but no. The cones of observation of enemy units make little sense, and a sneaking feeling that objectives are being placed for deliberate failure. A common feature with some other game designers. They needed to put more thought into that morale system, enemies just shoot randomly over a zone making you drop the documents you are trying to secure and lose your ap points constantly. The boost morale ability probably just needed to be on every class, every character as an action. My only character that had it was out recovering from injuries.

Very enjoyable Turn-based tactical game! Really felt like WW2 XCOM and scratched that itch for me. Instead of aliens we are fighting krauts. And we are not hiring random soldiers, each character is unique npc (similar to Gears Tactics) which I like since they feel like their own characters and the team banter after each mission is nice. Personally I felt like leaders are really powerful in this game since they can refresh cooldowns, restore morale (super important!), and give extra action…

Felt like a good game initially and was fun for the first 10+ hours. After that the game runs out of design ideas and starts adding difficulty in worst possible ways; spamming enemies and forcing the player to bad positioning and forcing unrealistic movement. I guess those missions are still doable, but they were not fun, so I stopped playing.

Similar to XCOM, with its own limitations that invite more interesting gameplay of its relatively short campaign. As your forces fight through the short few weeks before D-Day, every day counts, every choice matters, and even if you think you did well, you might lose the campaign. The game does invite a 2nd playthrough at least, especially if you don't hit a good result by campaign end. It's tougher than it seems, it's fun, it could have more depth, but as it stands, a solid tale of a little…

Basically a copy/paste of "Partisans 1941" and the turn-based gameplay of X-Com rather than Partisans' "Real-Time" movement. The reason I cant recommend this game is that this feels like a precursor to Partisans 1941 rather than a game made 4 years later! With the Mission Selection map, the Basecamp and Tasks options to recover and earn experience for your inactive characters, I honestly thought this was made by the same devs, but with the bugs and the feel of the game, I just figured it was…

Review of Classified France ‘44 (3.9 hours of gameplay for this review) 1. Graphics The graphics, textures, character models, and animations are decent in this game. It’s not revolutionary, but it works great. Colors pop nicely, and the game does not look like a washed-out movie from the ’60s. Customization of characters is a bit on the weak side, but this is not the primary goal of this title. It still has decent customization, just not at the level of most games in this turn-based tactical…

After initial excitement about the visual aspects of this game, and ofc X-com style of the gameplay, the more I've played the more bugs and things which were "not working" I have found. - All those situations where enemy is able to shoot someone on the other side of the buildings, without even been able to see the target ( different floors , walls etc) . - The Moments where enemy is able to shoot/see you but you are not able to return fire ( even covering one ) are just bringing more and more…

Too restrictive in many aspects, that stealth and ambush system is a joke to say the least.AND can you please tell me how can you have 90% hit chance with a shotgun point blank and still miss ? Multimple times ? Probability system in this game is worse than in a Vegas casino...wanted to like this, ended up being a total clown fiesta.

This is posh. There's a conference on the portrayal of the French Resistance in video games taking place at the Musée de l'Ordre de la Libération in Paris, and they've selected my game 'Classified: France '44' as an example.

Recently got a WWII turn based tactics game 80% off on steam called Classified: Normandy 1944. $9.99 and you get the full game plus a season pass for upcoming DLC. It's been fun. Plays a lot like X-Com but you're building a resistance network to prepare for the D-Day invasion.

It's a fun game, cross between Commandos and XCom. Replayability is somewhat limited as the second time around the same mission, you already know what to expect. About the WW2 setting, a few minor tweaks could improve era immersion. The dialogues do not sound quite 40's to me, and I think there was a missed opportunity in the faction stores, by putting a mix of random gear of every nationality. I would rather have the radicals (backed by the USSR), have soviet gear in their store, the gaullists…

I really wanted to like this and it's not bad but there's some flaws that already made me want to stop playing after a couple hours. I would rate it neutral, maybe for hardcore turn based tactics fans, but seeing how I gave up on it, I give it a thumbs down. Honestly, the biggest reason why I gave up on the game is just how slow the whole game feels. Every mission so far has had a stealth section. I was interested but everything is so slow with it. You can speed up animations for the AI but…

Hmmm this gane lack tutorials for map systems. Me reaching d days without knowing about task is kinda nuts. Basically task is a huge part of the game management and i found about it way too late. Game itself is not the best turn by turn. Ennemy scale way faster than you. They are way more accurate too. Basically they will shot through full cover and hit you 90% of the time. While you have about 20-30% accuracy vs ennemy in full cover. They also deal way more moral amd normal dmg than you…
