What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 201 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (17,762 of 18,851 positive).
Players widely praise Company of Heroes as a classic RTS with tactical depth and immersive battles. [1][2][3] Some note the game has aged well but lacks developer support and has a toxic multiplayer community. [4][5] A few reviewers mention the absence of Steam achievements and pathing issues. Don't get me wrong, this is a Fantastic game. I've been playing it on and off for over a decade but there's no longer any ingame support from the Devs. This has made it a Haven for hackers so if multi player is what you're looking for I'd give this game a miss.

Company of Heroes is still one of the most satisfying RTS games I’ve played because positioning actually matters. Using cover, flanking enemy squads, and dealing with suppression makes every fight feel tactical instead of just a numbers game, which was something new to me coming from someone who used to play Starcraft. If you like RTS games that reward smart decisions and good timing, this one’s an easy recommend.

Company of Heroes is one of the greatest real-time strategy games ever made. Even years after its release, it still stands out thanks to its tactical depth, immersive battles, and excellent game design. The campaign is intense and cinematic, capturing the chaos and strategy of World War II battles. Missions are varied and challenging, making every victory feel rewarding. What truly makes the game special is the …

The legendary RTS that defined a genre and still remains the gold standard for tactical combat. The original Company of Heroes isn't just a classic; it’s a masterclass in game design that fundamentally changed how we think about real-time strategy. Before this game, most RTS titles were about gathering wood and gold to build a massive army. Relic Entertainment flipped that on its head, focusing instead on "territory …

Great game but sadly no Steam achivements. There are some good mods to recommend however, that do include achievements more quality of life features. neutral · AI labelView post →Company of Heroes is a very nice strategic game, spent hours in here. love it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One thing I yearn for from my childhood is a well made RTS with single player campaign in mind as the main form of gameplay. I want a Dawn of War or a Company of Heroes, or a Dune 2000. I don't want a game that was made to be an esport with an 8 mission story tacked on last minute.
positive · AI labelView post →Empire at War is good but the problem is that it's not derivative enough If it had ground combat like Company of Heroes they'd still be supporting that game like how AoE2 gets more support than AoE4
neutral · AI labelView post →118) Company of Heroes 2. Relic have this odd habit of having the second game be excellent and the third game be very disappointing. This had a shaky launch but eventually developed into a great skirmish level WW2 RTS, reaching its peak with the stand-alone DLC Ardennes Assault.
positive · AI labelView post →Seriously though, the space game I want is a Halo GSG where the space combat is Sins of a Solar Empire but with Empire at War hardpoints and reinforcements, the ground combat is Company of Heroes, and the 4X galaxy map uses the board game Diplomacy's simultaneous turn based system

A game? ANY game? I was reluctant to play an MMO for other reasons but the questing part was and is perfectly fine

What I'm saying is everyone should play Doom. Also now I want to play Company of Heroes again. That game was great.

Mostly ran 1440. (also old games like Company of Heroes.. but not really stressing the card with that one) Also ran it in Linux for quite a while. Set and forget there. It was easily a smooth card. I‘m a fan of Arc. I‘m running a 7900xtx these days as I snagged one cheap, but I‘d easily look at Arc again. I‘ve heard…

Basically these games will send each other inputs and expect the game to play out identically. If there are any slight differences due to how the math happens, the game will end because it detects a desync. Usually the solution is copying whatever DLL windows uses instead of relying on WINE.

Just played a game where we pushed the Nazi team to their base. They had maybe three points total. No oil. Somehow they built a half dozen panzers AFTER that.

positive · AI labelView post →I've said it a few times but I am really chuffed with the unit voices in this game, they have some absolutely adorable lines that you wouldn't expect from this more Wargame-esque style of RTS. Some of them make me cackle and think of Company of Heroes

If I had to pick one worst, it would probably be Company of Heroes 3. I was really hopeful for the game, and got it bundled with my CPU when building a new PC, but its just not very good. The campaign, the main part I was interested in, is slow and samey and uninteresting. The multiplayer is even worse, being riddled with microtransactions, lootboxes, and other such stuff in ways that…

Company of Heroes for example would work OOTB in any other distro, but on fedora it would crash as soon the game opened - unless I skipped the intro movies with the steam command.
