A Commuter's Best Friend (and Brainiest Foe) Look, my brain is fried by 5 PM. As a dad in my 40s, the train ride home is my only 'me time'. I dont want chaos or explosions, I just want something smart. Creaks is that game. Its my go-to for the commute. It's a puzle game, pure and simple. And it starts off so nice! I adore the art style and sound direction in this game. Knowing that all those amazing interiors were done by hand warms my heart - and when you look out at the distant background, it really is beautiful and atmospheric. The puzzles are also great, quite original, and indeed challenging at times. Not quite sure that I got the underlying meaning of the story, but I think it is a tale of an imaginative person …

This is a beautiful game. The puzzles are a bit on a casual side but they still present a moderate challenge. The opening hour of the game is very boring but it gets much better after opening section. I will not pretend I understand the story, I can say that the atmosphere and visuals are stunning and are the main reason you will want to play Creaks. The sound design and OST are also top quality. Puzzle design is …

A beautiful hand-drawn game with moderately challenging puzzles and a really interesting story. I didn't expect it to be such an engaging experience. The atmosphere is unique and the art style is absolutely wonderful. The puzzles are clever but not frustrating. I also really liked the mysterious world and the way the story slowly unfolds as you progress.

new favorite puzzle game, perfect balance between engaging gameplay and challenging puzzles! also dope atmospheric art, drawn by human hands (f*ck AI)

Critics, per Wikipedia
The game has received very positive reviews following its release. Nathan Birch, in his review for Wccftech, gave the game 9.5 points out of 10. He stated that "Creaks renovates a well-worn genre, delivering one of the most satisfying indie puzzle-platformers in some time. Between its stunning visual and audio design, absorbing world, and perfectly-balanced puzzles, it's hard to find serious fault with any part of this game's construction." Noelle Adams of Critical Hit gave the game 8 points out of 10. She called it a "wonderfully weird puzzle platformer." She primarily praised the visuals, atmosphere and gameplay. She also praised the game's soundtrack. Kieron Verbugge of Well-Played also…

neutral · AI labelView post →The review consists not only of a look at the game played, but also of personal experience and opinion. This is just the author's opinion. The game has been completed with 100% achievements. Creaks is an arcade-style puzzle platformer from Amanita Design. Brief and to the point. The studio remained true to itself and once again created a beautiful, but strange game, just like all the game series in its collection. But the game is different in many ways... Let's start with the plot. A…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like the game. The artwork is interesting and creative, and I like puzzle games in general. But what I don't like is as I progressed in the game the puzzles became less about figuring out what you have to do and more about getting the timing exactly right to do it. So you end up repeating some puzzles over and over again even though you can clearly see what you are supposed to do. This would be less of an issue if there was an option to skip a scene (puzzle) but I don't see one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very beautiful game in the typical style of Amanita design: Somewhat unsettling look-and-feel, a wordless story, and so much creativity. Creaks was not what I initially expected, but I came to immediately like its puzzle design. I particularly liked that even complex looking puzzles were designed in a way that hinted at the solution, even if the solution might not be the first idea that springs to mind. Thanks, awesome work, and I would love to see more of this type of game!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My very first game from Amanita Design. A beautiful visual style, lovely music, and very smooth, accessible gameplay. Although I'm not exactly the target audience for puzzle games, I’ve wanted to try this little title from the Czech studio for a long time. Personally, I can recommend it with a clear conscience. The story pulls you forward and is full of mystery that you just want to uncover. The mystery of the underground world, which lures you in one evening through the wallpaper, is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was just an amazing experience. The visuals are beautiful, game is challenging and rewarding, difficulty of logical puzzles is well-balanced. Each time you get to the point where you're about look for a walkthrough, you suddenly find a way and figure the level out. A true masterpiece from Amanita comparable so far only to Machinarium.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review is based on completing the game to 100%. It is an absolute masterpiece of art direction and intuitive mind games within the puzzles that do not require excessive brain activity and are not overly simple. Every scene is a work of art, and the collectible paintings, drawn in the 18th-century style, are equally stunning. Also the mini-games are fun and a little bit challenging your intuition. And the story is simple, with no narrative or text, just silent acting that is easy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been playing through the game Creaks (by @amanita-design.net) and my goodness, what a game – coolest art style I've seen in ages, and I especially LOVE the way the music builds as you slowly piece together each puzzle! Grinned like an idiot when the drums kicked in at the first "light bulb" moment 🔥

positive · AI labelView post →Odd, the stuff that gives us nightmares, no? I had nightmares from this one board game I had, Shrieks and Creaks.
neutral · AI labelView post →Honestly I didn’t expect to like Creaks this much. The art is beautiful and the whole world has this weird but cozy feeling to it. I also really liked the puzzles. Most of them made me stop and think for a bit, but never in an annoying way. I enjoyed pretty much every minute of it. Definitely one of those small games I’m really glad I gave a chance.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice and short puzzle game, with pleasant music and a nice story. Some of the stages can really challenge you, but that's where your creativity comes into play. There are some hidden rooms, so always be on the lookout for things that don't look out of place. Would recommend, 8/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really love this hand-drawn games. It reminds me of how wonderful it is to be a kid again, tho being an adult has its perks. Definitely recommended, especially if you use an external game controller. Update: After I finished this series, I seriously wanted more of the story above, but then again, it's time to say farewell. I really love how short but so story rich and puzzle-rich this game is... I played Afterimage, but it can't even get to touch how amazing this game called Creaks is. P.S.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Creaks is a fun puzzle game with a cute story. It took about 6 hours to beat. Got it on sale for $4 so can't complain. If you played Machinarium, it's definitely different from that, but it has its own charm.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Joked a few times about this being a mobile game and me being the ad guy for failing to solve a few and having to resort to watching a walkthrough (some of these jellyfish and mimic puzzles are diabolical), but despite the vibe the gameplay might give off, it's pretty good, and the game itself is really charming. Once you get past the introductory dog puzzles, it picks up in the fun department. The graphics are definitely the game's main selling point. Everything is super detailed, some of the…

Sometimes, though, they look more like the backrooms from the game Creaks - made of wood, and full of dense visual texture (if that makes sense)

positive · AI labelView post →I originally bought Creaks for its art style, and for once, judging a game by its appearance turned out to be an excellent decision. (Gori flashbacks incoming) There's so much love in the little details.
