What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 152 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (4,302 of 5,003 positive).
Players praise CHUCHEL as a funny, charming, and creative puzzle game from Amanita Design. [1][2][3] Some reviewers find the humor too childish or the gameplay too simple and boring. [4][5][6] Many note the game is short, often completed in a couple of hours, and best enjoyed on sale. [7][8][9]

I knew going into it that Chuchel wouldn't be my cup of tea, so maybe I didn't give it a fair enough chance, but this game mostly just annoyed me. I'll start with the positives; and there are positives, despite what my 1 1/2 star rating may lead you to believe. The music was fine. Some of the puzzles were fine. The character designs were, controversy aside, fine. There are many elements that would be serviceable for …

The game is cool, funny, and full of humor. Sometimes it requires a little thought. The graphics are fun, and the goal of the game is to get a berry, which we will try to achieve throughout the game. I highly recommend playing this game.

A Small Adventure Full of Personality CHUCHEL is one of those games that immediately makes it clear what its goal is: to entertain. Created by the same studio behind Machinarium, Botanicula, and Samorost, it trades complex storytelling and difficult puzzles for pure creativity, visual humor, and a constant sense of fun. It is a short adventure, but one that manages to leave a smile on your face from beginning to …

Verdict: Really fun little point-and-click game. Recommended with no issue, especially since it is 2,5e on sale Completionist: About 2-2.5 hours + Positives + + Steam achievements (7, single playthrough, easy 100%) + Steam trading cards (4 drop, 8 to make a badge) + You just feel the love the devs put into Chuchel + Genuinely funny + Love the soundtrack + You can replay any level from the menu + Quite short, but a …

Beautiful animations, simple but fluid story, fun puzzles packed with easter eggs. The cutscenes are genuinely clever, the kind of ideas you rarely see anywhere else. A little masterpiece that deserves to be played.

CHUCHEL - this is what our favorite developers, Amanita Design, called the game. "Help the furry hero Chuchel beat his rival Kekel and find the precious cherry, pass numerous tests and solve all the puzzles!" - Here is the plot of our game. Anyway, let's get down to business. I want to look at this game with an honest eye and share my opinion and experience with you. - The game is based…

neutral · AI labelView post →Gotta love Amanita Design's weird ass little games. CHUCHEL is a short, quirky game following the eponymous Chuchel, a fuzzy little creature with big dreams of eating cherries. Of course, those dreams are interrupted when a giant hand steal his cherry, not to mention Kekel, a little rat thing that also wants the cherry. The game will take Chuchel and Kekel into several absurd situations, reminiscent of short cartoons you'd sometimes catch on TV. The art design is nice; what you'd expect from…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The new game from the makers of Botanicula and Chuchel is like 1984 meets the Keystone Kops, but in a way that actually works. Phonopolis is out now, and it's every bit as good as I'd hoped—if a tad grim. Phonopolis shaping up to be another brilliant Amanta adventure, telling the tale of a hapless lad named Felix who, quite by accident, ends up on the wrong side of a totalitarian regime that's one step away from enslaving the minds of the people by stripping them of their humanity entirely…

neutral · AI labelView post →CHUCHEL is an interesting puzzle game, following the style of previous Amanita Design games. It has especially similiar art style to Botanicula, which makes sense since the same game designer, Jaromír Plachý, is behind both games. You follow an orange creature as he's chasing a cherry. While the puzzles and environments feels familiar, there is something that does feel off about the game - it's not as open and non-linear as previous titles. Each challenge is enclosed to its own level and there…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished Legend of Hand, and though it had a few immersion-breaking moments and the combat was kinda meh, I liked it! Also it got real fucken weird near the end, which I probably should have expected from a @cloakanddaggerg.bsky.social game. 🤣 And now I'm playing Chuchel. THE WEIRDNESS CONTINUES.
positive · AI labelView post →I didn't get very far into this game because the sense of humor seemed extremely childish (one character steals the cherry and then everyone starts dancing). I like silly humor but it was too immature. The music was also forgettable. Id only recommend if you're looking for something to play with young children.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amanita Design teases the Orwell-inspired Phonopolis with a surprisingly funny demo about messing with people, running from the cops, and fighting fascism even when you don't really want to. The next game from the studio behind Botanicula, Samorost, and Chuchel looks to be shaping up very well.

neutral · AI labelView post →PROS: + unique aesthetic + quite funny (for kids?) + cool mini-games + great on the Steam Deck CONS: - no gamepad support - nightmare fuel (for kids?) Comment: Gameplay is all you want it to be when it comes to mini-games. You get arkanoid, sort of tetris, pac-man, flappy bird, maze puzzle, robot boxing, slingshot and many others. It is amazing how it switches up all these activities without missing a beat. I found all of it interesting although some will seem hard for smaller children.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →With as much as I loved Chuchel, I'm sad I never picked up Botanicula until now. This game is delightfully absurd. (It was an Epic freebie) It also does the thing I love (that I guess some people hate?) where all the sound FX are just somebody making mouth noises. 😆
positive · AI labelView post →Not sure of the proper name for these kinds of games. Where you're a little troublemaker running around and just poking the landscape until stuff occurs. No real puzzles, just mayhem. Chuchel, Catie in MeowmeowLand, Untitled Goose Game, that sort of thing. Why do I love these so much?
positive · AI labelView post →Beautiful animations, simple but fluid story, fun puzzles packed with easter eggs. The cutscenes are genuinely clever, the kind of ideas you rarely see anywhere else. A little masterpiece that deserves to be played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One must imagine Chuchel happy. This game is one of the funniest games I have played, it gave me many laughters and felt well made. I experienced one time where I needed to restart the game during a loading sequence, but otherwise it was a very pleasant experience. Like many of this studio's titles, it is playable without knowing any English and can be played by all ages.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think this app would be fine for entertaining a toddler on their tablet, but as an adult I just found it to be irritating. The "puzzles" aren't so much puzzles as scenes to fiddle with. The humor largely boils down to Chuchel yelling. Not my cup of tea.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very relatable for me, because I am also a small hairy man who loves cherries and yells a lot
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The sound effects were irritating
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →20. Favorite genre: What do you call those games where you play as a chaotic little menace going around the environment poking at stuff until the intended (usually silly) result happens? Chuchel, Untitled Goose Game, Thank Goodness You're Here, stuff like that? Because that's my favorite genre.
positive · AI labelView post →The Samorost series started it all (first one is free to play) and Chuchel is a funny character in his own game. But the biggest one is Machinarium, I can highly recommend that.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very enjoyable and funny game to play in a single sitting. A story about materialism and rivalry transforming into a beautiful friendship and acceptance
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game! I even made a theory on why chuchel loves cherries: he has a job that was very simple, eat a cherry and u get payed, and over time, each shift changed his appetite to only be cherries, so every time he eats a cherry, he gets payed by the devs so he acts multiple times infront of the screen, just to get another cherry-powered payment

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →omg CHUCHEL is such a charming little weird puzzle game. It genuinely feels like a lost late 2000s / early 2010s internet fever dream in the BEST possible way, from the humor and sounds to the super goofy aesthetic and animations. There’s something so weirdly comforting and nostalgic about it, even though it only came out in 2018 haha. The whole game feels like stumbling across some bizarre Flash animation or obscure browser game as a kid and becoming obsessed with it for a week straight.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nine years ago, I watched a playthrough of this game back in elementary school, and at the time it actually scared me. Now I decided to play it it myself, and it turned out to be funny and, in a way, kind of cute. It’s easy to play, you could finish it in a couple of hours, and the ending is very sweet. 10 nostalgia out of 10!! ( ⸝⸝´ ᵕ `⸝⸝) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Video Game Review: Chuchel A puzzle game where the answers to the puzzles are as crazy as all of the characters. I loved the different wacky things that you run into in this game. It made me think more abstractly than other puzzle games. Loved the overall vibe of the game. Rating: 4.5/5

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chuchel is a visually charming game with a lot of personality, but after finishing it, I feel it's not what one is looking for. The experience is very short, and several scenes feel repetitive in terms of mechanics and structure. If it were a free game, or even very cheap, I would see it as a cute and fun way to pass the time. However, as a paid product, I'm left with the feeling that it offers very little content. Artistically, it's great, the humor works, and the animations are very well…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I decided to play this game after the psychedelic nightmare that Happy Game was, and boy oh boy, Amanita got a homerun with this one too. Chuchel is a comedic game in which we control Chuchel and his worm friend as they fight creatures and themselves to get a cherry (or apple?). The puzzles are way more creative then Happy Game but i didn't like the hand-holding that Amanita does after you struggle on a puzzle for more than one second.
