Many players find the core gameplay fun and the game worth its $20 price. [1][2][3] Some reviewers criticize the lack of key rebinding and poor camera controls. [4][5][6] A few players raise concerns about data privacy in the EULA. [7][8][9]

I love the game but NOT YET. Some bugs, questionable game design choice or things I disliked that others might want to know: No rebinding of keys. - Already being worked on. No basic follow, no camera reset to where your character is facing. - Addressed. Loot is NOT …

Probably the worst camera experience I've had in a souls-like game. Even as early as the tutorial boss your camera whips around wildly, making it both extremely disorienting, and near impossible to understand what is happening.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just got the game and instantly asked for refund after reading what they collect as info and how they store\process it, avoiding all laws for data protection for e.g. GDPR. They just move data to location(country outside EU) where GDPR is not valid. That info should be available in the game store page before you buy the product.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm giving this a negative review to draw attention to the issues I'm going to lay out below - the devs have already responded to the keybinding issue very quickly so while this list is vast, I hope they're already making headway on, well I hope most of it. I look forward to editing this review to reflect those changes. Crimson Moon has good bones. That is the frustrating part. The game looks great, the gothic-knight aesthetic works, the combat has real weight, and the 2-player co-op formula…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nine hours in, I like Crimson Moon. Let me start there, because the rest of this is probably going to sound like I don’t. I’m currently in the third district and the game has been a lot of fun. The price matters too. At $19.99, I wasn’t expecting some enormous AAA production with 100 hours of handcrafted content. What is here is already worth the asking price for me. But this game keeps getting the difficult things right and then tripping over ♥♥♥♥ that other games solved years ago. The…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game feels great on controller. Definitely has a rhythm to it that took some getting use to, but it's a lot of fun. Can't wait to play with friends. Sucks it's getting review bombed day 1 cause "can't rebind keys".
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*this game has a shady EULA that will collect personal and sensitive data both from the player and hardware, including your IP, and share/expose it to data brokers and other third parties, no game needs this much data for a videogame* I really want to like this game, but everything is just awful man. The enviroment is a total mess in this game, its like going through a trash town to find your buddies. Enemies are ridiculous, every 1/2 hit from ANY enemy depletes your stamina to 0 zero, and the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel like the bad reviews are a little harsh TBH, ive used controller and had no issues. Feel like the people complaining are just being a little petty, i get they will be nice to have in the game but i dont thing theyre any reason to negatively bomb it when you could just put it in their discird as feedback instead of ruining a new games credibility like that??

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GDPR evasion scam - game made to collect your personal data and its then transferred to countries that do not have GDPR protection approved by EU...so they profit from your personal data. What do they need your data for? This is a basic roguelite, not amazon. Camera work is complete trash. Cannot rebind keys in 2026! Are you f kidding me? Enemies can spam attack you to death... Game controls like ass... Corridor maps design... Nah, not for 17 quid Refunded and reported to steam.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to recommend this game, but in it's current state I would advise to postpone buying Crimon Moon untill its many flaws are fixed. Like others have said, the gameplay itself is great. The combat is great, the loop and meta progression feel meaningful, but every fun moment is countered by bugs or annoying design choices. Simple things like - Want to swap your gear while in the lobby? First you have to select the mission, then walk to the loadout section. - Naming your loadout…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got physically ill from motion sickness with the lock-on camera on the first boss. I legitimately need to go lay down. The camera swings around 180 degrees or more every time the boss attacks and moves, it's just swinging all over the place. There are a lot of other posts about this; it's wild that no previews talked about that or that the team was okay with releasing it in this state. I've been super looking forward to this game and I'm willing to wait a bit to see if they make some…

neutral · AI labelView post →It legit takes less than 30 minutes to make you able to change keybindings and mouse sens, but for some reason it's just... not possible in the game? they spent years, months, working on this game but literally the most basic feature they just ... dont implement?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very fun and beautiful Indie game. Let me break it down simply why I rate this positive. At the time of this review I only have 7 hours on the game. I paid 17 bucks for this. I have had an enjoyable 7 hours so far playing with a friend. I paid 17 bucks for a taco bell meal and spent a terrible 7 hours in the bathroom. People are being too harsh on the game. Its great for what it is and I intend to put more hours into it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was looking forward to playing this w my friends. Currently, it's very buggy and you should wait for a patches, tweaks and QoL Overall devs put a lot of love into the game, and it really shows. Visuals, Sound Design, NPC voice acting are good and feeds into old Blizzard games feels. But there is too much junk and inconsistency when it comes to combat, even if it's well done for the most part. Majority of the games issues could of been solved and figured out w a Beta-Testing phase. Also, while…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crimson Moon isn’t perfect, but for $20 this game gives you a hell of a lot more than people are giving it credit for. You’re getting UE5 visuals, challenging combat, strong roguelike progression, and a gameplay loop that gives it more replayability than plenty of AAA games charging $60–$70. What really makes it stand out is the way it mixes Soulslike combat with roguelike progression. It actually feels like the developers were trying to build something different instead of copying the same…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Darksiders-esque soulslike. Really fun with controller. Not really sure what the review bombs are about, but it's a great Soulslite.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Went in with high expectations given the trailers, videos, Youtube and reddit hype. Was chasing the itch for a roguelike. Unfortunately this fell short of expectations - there isn't much to the end-game, nor deep customization as you'd expect.. all the weapons are pretty much just swords, with limited axes and hammers with the differentiators being 'weapon arts' i.e: a SKILL1 or SKILL2. Lifesteal, frost, burning, poison.. poison being by far the weakest..the aura is garbo, the poison floor aoe…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was very heavily marketed game) I wish they put some more money into development rather than ads. This game is tagged in steam as "souls-like" - it is not) This game is a solid-average coop/solo rogue-like. It has 6 small corridor-like maps, 9 bosses, something around 10 kinds of enemies, some good build making ideas. some lore, which you will not care about and some strange but ok loot system) It has TONS of bugs, I don't know about solo-play, but coop has lots and lots of bugs, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crimson Moon does not deserve to be sitting at mostly negative right now. This is a fun game that's getting buried under launch-day noise it hasn't earned. The pitch: think a Diablo-style Paladin build dropped into an Elden Ring Nightreign loop, fast, focused runs against a city full of demons and worse, solo or with a friend. That combo works really well here. Fair warning: the opening tutorial is rough. You get thrown into your first run without half the tools you'd normally have, so don't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Currently I recommend holding off on this game. I think there is a good game here, but the controls are horrendous. There is no key-rebinding options, and the response to input is sluggish and there does not seem to be a toggle for actions like sprinting. It will be a maddening experience to try to play this with any level of serious combat. On the pros side, the game is very good looking, graphical performance seemed solid on my current rig, and the intro lore while a little cliche does…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I shall change this review to a thumbs up when you fix the multiplayer. Almost impossible to do co-op because as soon as we start the run one of us gets kicked out and sent back to the hub area. Please fix this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a game of high potential, but low execution (at the moment). Pros: 1. Over-the-top base gothic style with unique zone styles and gear aesthetics really make this game visually appealing. 2. While nothing new, this game's approach to souls-like combat is solid, serviceable, and enjoyable. 3. (Most) weapon arts are fun to use and satisfying to execute. 4. The boons provide proper roguelike gameplay to each run. 5. Enemy and boss variety are just enough to keep runs fresh (for now). 6.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cannot recommend this game right now. The way it was released was not a 1.0 release and should have been released in early access. A handful of issues with the game in its current state that are bugs(?) or actual features(?). -Quests don't complete together when you are in a party. You don't share quest items in a mission run. Lore scrolls have to be picked up by the 2nd party member before it is picked up by the party leader. If the party leader picks up the scroll first, the 2nd player…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I will get it out of the way first I enjoy the gameplay, I enjoy the monsters, animations, and mechanics. I enjoy the game overall HOWEVER There are some serious annoyances here. It feels like a Big EArly Access title, not a release. Those 8 Angels they showed in preview footage while talking about all those cool synergies? Yea there are only 2. All that gear we "purify" and get to keep? Only VERY FEW actually have built in powers, Otherwise they are just flat stat sticks. They claimed…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is very buggy. almost got to level 20 and randomly got bugged back to level 1 and lost all progress. im not the only one either this is a common bug. multiplayer is janky and the camera when attacking enemys flys all over the place. fun game in general but mayjor bugs hold it back

neutral · AI labelView post →I played only multiplayer. Great potential, but currently very buggy and annoying. I will switch this review later if the devs put some elbow grease into making things better. Bugs: - Animation for both players not showing properly - Non-Host cannot pick up stories, which prevents them from unlocking boons - Skills cast by non-host do not register for damage / effect very often. - Players can get stuck in execute animation after the enemy is dead if the other player killed it while you were…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After putting some time into this game now I can honestly say it's a really fun experience. I have the good fortune of not being brain damaged enough to use a mouse and keyboard on a souls like game, so my experience with the controls has been pretty good, but at the same time a pc release should not be coming out without those sorts of considerations for accessibility. Can only be so bothered by that when it's already being addressed actively by devs tho so that's also worth considering. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →terrible camera, clunky controls, frame gen options dont even work at all for some reason, they want you to sprint with B on a controller but then dont have an auto rotating camera which feels terrible, cant rebind any controls!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, when this game was coming up, i was super excited given the trailer and the gameplay, it looked like alot of fun having now played the game pretty thoroughly, alot of my original thoughts still hold true, the game looks awesome, i love there stylization, armor looks fantastic, enemies, bosses and the npcs are unique and memorable, the musical score is alright, and the story is definitely interesting but unfortunately my largest gripe comes from the largest gameplay aspect of the…

neutral · AI labelView post →So much potential here. Critical issues to address: 1. The Gold/Souls/Loot system is confusing, and you don't do enough to teach the player how it works. 2. The camera is garbage. This is not a problem you really need to re-solve. So many great games before you have figured this out. 3. Add the ability to drop (even destroy) items you've put in reserve slots. 6 loot slots is restrictive enough, you don't have to also lock in the first 6 items you come across. I imagine during testing it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For $20, I would have still recommended this game despite it's clunk.. but the multiplayer rarely runs smooth. Most of the time you'll be rubberbanding making the game hard to even look at. The icing on the cake is having your save file completely wiped after hours of progress. This was the nail in the coffin for me. Sure, it's a roguelike and you're meant to replay the game, but Crimson Moon does have certain aspects of character progression that stay throughout your runs. Lose your file?…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →don't understand what everyone is so furiously upset about that they're voting this game negatively. i am having lots of fun playing it, and im excited to see what the devs continue to add down the line ^.^ there is minor jank here and there but it doesn't knock the game down for me at all really, especially being an indie game and all. will definitely continue to support the developers, i think some of the criticism is valid towards the game but i don't think the game deserves to be reviewed…

neutral · AI labelView post →Crimson Moon Review: A Promising Roguelike That Needs a Little More Polish and Holy Water Crimson Moon casts players in the role of a Nephalim—a half-angel, half-human hybrid—tasked with purging hordes of the undead and demons lurking beneath a church hiding much deeper, darker secrets. At its core, it’s an action roguelike with a clever twist, but after sinking five hours into the game and defeating the first major boss, it’s clear the experience is a mixed bag of inspired design and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No instanced Loot in this day and age, no co-op progression, no gear change between Chapter 1 and 2 and reset back to chapter 1 if you die, I get that it's a rogue Lite - but Come TF on. Game has a lot of potential - most of the gameplay is great (not you lock on, you suck so bad) - And the 2nd boss has so much health it's stupid. I hope the Devs read all of this and make some good decisions.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The negative reviews are shocking...they know all of this in just 20 mins of gameplay?? It took 7 to 8 min just to load the shaders....idk i think they didn't give a real chance but i will. It was pretty decent my first couple of run but I'll update later after more time with it. Ok updated review. It's real solid and a bit addictive because a mix of being both easy and challenging at the same time. neutral · AI labelView post →The game has a lot of issues and should have been cooked longer. I completed a Run on the Standard playthrough and on the Hellish difficulty, both were done in coop. There are many bugs in the game, and many features that aren't explained well. Bugs - Coop related - The joined player must pick up lore/quest items prior to the host or the joined player cannot pick them up. - If the game crashes and it will, the joined player can rejoin but they will not have any of their boons or gear. - If…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would love to give this game a positive review but I can't. I am playing with a friend and we get disconnected frequently in the middle of a run. Leading to the loss of all boons, equipment, and souls. Very frustrating. This is the number 1 issue that needs to be fixed. I would love to be able to play this game, but right now it it pretty unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game but lacking a lot of descriptions for debuffs and stats meaning/function. Biggest gripe, is despite recent patch, my game just reset after a crash and I lost all progress made. I don't have hundreds of hours thankfully but now super careful how much time I invest in a game that's not currently working. I'd avoid for now until things are fixed but for $20 it's a fun and fairly difficult game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely LOVE this game. Played on controller (per game recommendation). This is super fun, especially with co-op. If you enjoy soulslikes, this game will feel very familiar. If you don't enjoy soulslikes, this game is a great entrypoint to the genre, as it is much more forgiving. The visuals are absolutely stunning. The world feels rich and the lore is interesting. I love the art direction. It feels dark and grim without being cast in shadow. The armors are stunning and the weapons are…

neutral · AI labelView post →Losing current gear with no warning for joining co-op was the last straw for me. If this is an intended feature for co-op play, then at least include a warning pop-up before joining. I lost at least 3 hours of diligent build crafting on a single run, all because I wanted to join quickplay. Now i am stuck in the middle of my current hard difficulty run with default gear, forced to fail my run, because I joined quickplay? Genuinely soured my overall experience with the game. How do you overlook…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is fantastic, runs fairly well and is quite beautiful looking too. the negative reviews are blowing me away. You dont need an FOV slider in a souls game people who are complaining about that crack me up. Elden ring doesnt have one either. Also if you're trying to play this on KBM just stop its a souls like grab damn controller and play it like every other souls like. admittedly the game is rough around the edges in areas such as animation and the camera but regardless is fun and complete.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crimson Moon i would say looks very good indeed maybe a tad clunky to play but nothing game breaking . Sadly though were this game falls flat is in the game mechanics for instance ( you do get a few lives } but if you die you go completely back to the beginning of the game not the area you were in but the beginning of the whole game i am like wtf so uninstalled and got a Refund unless those problems are fixed do not bother there are better types of games like this one out there…
