What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 192 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (1,284 of 1,698 positive).
Players praise the core deckbuilding gameplay and compare it favorably to Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering. [1][2][3] Many reviewers note the game has a charming pixel art style and engaging story campaigns. [4][5][6] Some players criticize the game for bugs, lack of updates, and poor developer communication. [7][8][9]

I had my fun with it. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend to invest time in the game, because the devs lack of communication and problem solving since the release. Problems that occur during EA are still there and I think they didn't learn from them. No communication via steam discussions, ok. No communication via Discord, no go. Instead an AI bot answers tickets and thinks of himself as a dev.

Editing this review with more details now that I've played more. This is a really good deckbuilder. I was initially interested in its campaign mode but both that and the roguelike mode are really well done. My only complaint is this would be a perfect mobile game but its not on phone nor does it have controller support to make a good steamdeck game. I could see myself playing 100+ hours of this mobile. Pros: +Has a …

Cross Blitz is exactly what I'm looking to play in a deckbuilder. It plays out like a single player MtG, Hearthstone, or Marvel Snap except that you only pay once to get access to everything and don't have to deal with predatory microtransactions or FOMO generating content. The campaign mode is nearly perfect and should be played first, basically sending you to battle, then giving you an extra card to use if you win …

This a deeply overlooked gem among the many roguelikes of Steam. The Fables campaigns are plenty longer than most other games I've played, and the endless roguelike mode is just extra playtime on top of that with gameplay I actually enjoy. The stories and characters and banter are incredibly charming, and the retro pixel artwork is gorgeous. The soundtrack is also excellent! Atmospherically a top notch game. My only …

This game scratches that MtG / Riftbound / Hearthstone itch. The combos are fun to work out, they have interesting solutions to the queen problem, and the devs have clearly shown the game animations and character art a lot of love. Can’t wait for controller support! Playing on steam deck with mouse is fine but I’d love to just use a controller.

Critics, per Wikipedia
Cross Blitz received generally favorable reviews from critics, according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. During early access, Dominic Tarason of PC Gamer called Cross Blitz "charming", describing it as "Hearthstone-lite" but for single-player gamers, while also comparing it to Inscryption conceptually. He described the campaign's puzzle-like objectives as making it stand out from Tusk Tales. He praised the game as easy to jump into, noting that Tusk Tales would likely have more replayability. He was surprised by the game's lack of multiplayer functionality, and said that the game's pacing was slow due to unskippable animations. While being satisfied with the game overall, he…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really want to like this game but it's not quite doing it for me given that the game is structured around areas that feed into the characters' plotlines, it feels like the story should set this game apart from roguelike deck-builders that lean more heavily into the mechanics and replayability. but there actually isn't much of a story. the character beats end up feeling like filler that I just want to skip to get to the action. the card games themselves are pretty fun at first but after a…

Before i put this game down i had 0 complaints. now that its out im baffled at how hard they've screwed the ui. hovering over cards in a deck list will cover up card info, such as what chapter it comes from and where to get the card from.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good news! First patch in nine months! Bad news! The patch broke this game in half!! Now is NOT the time to start playing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →abandoned game, no updates since about a year ago even when bugs are extremely common to encounter and theres much QoL that even a simple playtest would have fixed, but it is clear that they have not beaten their game in its entirety otherwise they would have probably put in a bit of work. It released and when they accomplished the "promise" of exiting early access entirely dumped the game and it now gets zero updates. Don't recommend buying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve been waiting a long time for a game like this. It’s straight deckbuilding CRACK, but unfortunately, the devs abandoned it, leaving a ton of bugs that diminish the experience, one being a bug that prevents getting a certain achievement. Been waiting for it to get fixed so I could leave a 100% review, but that doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. Despite that huge criticism, there are a lot of positives about my experience that I would like to share. You see, I’m a fan of trading card…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →been playing this again recently and noticed it hasn't been updated for 8 months and i still regularly run into bugs. its fun, but i wish it was fully finished
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think the game is really fun and there are some really cool synergies, but the roguelike mode needs a bit of a rework. You are required to team up with another "mercenary" and get 10 cards that are anti-synergy from your strategy. Then the card pool is diluted by their additional cards so it makes it really tough to create a synergistic deck by the end of a run. Some of the bosses are also over-tuned while others are push overs. The inconsistency makes the mode a bit rough.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After 70+ hours...... i can say this game is all about Luck. Dont get me wrong in earlier versions it was possible to give the cards in your deck trinkets to make later runs easier but guess what? Removed! Its just sad to see that you cant even have fun in a single player game you either start broken and steam roll everything in the Tusktales or you get molested by the second enemy nothing in between. Now it gets booring very fast due to the fact that you pic one Charakter and stick with it…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →* It is unacceptable for this game not to have controller support. The interface is *dead simple*. Though the devs promised controller support for 1.0, it never materialized, and the game has been left largely untouched since release. * There are two modes to this game: story mode, and roguelike mode. * The roguelike mode is not worth playing. Poor balance, poor maps, poor design. * The story mode is quite fun! * But, it is pretty much just single player Hearthstone. Like, many of the cards…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played this game for about 70 hours and honestly I'm disappointed. Back when the final fable came out I boot it up and play through all the first chapter. But when I select the second chapter all of my progress like cards and relics and the resources that I made in the first chapter were wiped from the save. I thought it was just a minor bug that was going to be patch out so I left the game there... It's been a few months now and even after making a post documenting the bug it was still…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Card gameplay itself is great. The writing is cheesy, repetitive, and boring. The UI is somehow even worse than the writing. Everything in the world map takes twice as many clicks as it should, including skipping the terrible dialogue. Moving across the map to backtrack for objectives requires you to manually walk to every tile along the way. The lack of QoL features make trudging through the campaign to unlock cards unbearable. What a waste of deckbuilding gameplay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They don't let me pick a "Meh" option so I had to go do not recommend. First thing is its, as far as I can tell not a roguelite. Or rather, it leans _Really_ heavy on the lite part of that word. I don't know what the metaprogression is like but you gain your life back in between fights and I lost the first boss battle only to be able to immediately try it again. Maybe I'm not the target audience but the writing was pretty meh, too. Would have actually preferred less of it. Ultimately its…

neutral · AI labelView post →This is a tough one. At its core, Cross Blitz has a fun card game that I enjoyed learning. You can do a lot with this system and the developers created a lot of cards and relics that stretch the system in fun ways. I'm 21 hours in, and I will probably play more. I can happily recommend the core card game at the heart of Cross Blitz. Sadly, the rest of the game outside of the core card game is quite rough. The UI is slow, unresponsive, and cumbersome. - There are frequently times where you're…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →gameplay's really fun and interesting, takes good advantage of the potential the format has. The stories are cute, they have the vibe of those shows that're made for kids but can be enjoyed by anyone, lighthearted with some serious stuff in them.

neutral · AI labelView post →=== Intro === First, I would like to note, I only played the rogue-lite mode. I didn't play the campaign, so all my comments are related to the rogue-lite mode. === CCG stuff === I very much like the concept of a single player CCG and I wish there were more games like this. The gameplay is pretty fun and fluid for the most part. Some animations can be a bit slow, but you can speed up the speed of the whole gameplay. But that affects all effects (not just the slow ones), so that can make…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →been playing a lil Cross Blitz lately, like if Hearthstone was a cute pixel art RPG? Not sure I'm super into the mechanics but if you like that style of game it might be your jam.
neutral · AI labelView post →I have a lot of time on this game so I thought Id leave a review Pros: the art is beautiful the combat system is pretty fun and the mix and the classes have distinct cards Cons: This game is held together by string cheese, every time they fix something it brakes something else, if all the cards worked like they should Id recommend but the updates are so slow and its never fully operational i cant recommend anyone pick this up.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got myself Cross Blitz in the steam deckbuilder sale. It's a very hearthstone inspired TCG / deckbuilder - even including some recognisable HS archetypes like thief rogue (lol). Defo scratches the HS itch for me, but if you haven't played Hearthstone, you might find it a lot initially. It has a story mode with separate story for each of the 5 classes and there it is really a TCG. I played through one of them and it was pretty good, but left me wanting for more (especially given the TCG…
positive · AI labelView post →The story mode is tons of fun. It is a lengthy campaign, and there are plenty of different archetypes to try out. The art and music are great too. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for an RPG card battler. Everything is PVP or roguelike, and I've been looking for something like this to scratch the story-based, deck-building card game itch.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's legally distinct Hearthstone except each combat is gated by a lot of dialogue with characters you won't care about. Looks gorgeous, but everything is animated slowly. If you play a lot of deckbuilders, you can skip this one. If you haven't played hearthstone, you might like this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Leaving this review to raise the overall score a bit. I feel this game got too much negative reviews early on which still haunts them a bit. Personally, I think this game offers a lot, has a great pixel art style and is enjoyable to play. More people need to check it out if they're into this type of genre. :)

neutral · AI labelView post →Super fun game with alot of character, the art and style is great, and the huge card variety leads to alot of cool potential builds and strategies. I especially enjoy the Fables mode and experiencing the story of each character.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hope by tomorrow I feel good enough to draw again. I've felt like absolute dog water. Also, you should play Cross Blitz. It's a good game.
positive · AI labelView post →Really fun story mode, I wish there was an official MTG game with the same story mode structure, where you collect cards slowly and can make multiple decks and have fun trying to improve them bit-by-bit. Look up MTG forge if you like that idea.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very solid deckbuilder game with quite a lot of options to build your deck the way you like. In some way it reminds me of Hearthstone from back in the days. The only thing I'd want is an iOS port so I can play it on my tablet.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game has frozen and crashed on multiple occasions. pretty frustrating knowing the game was in early access for like a year and still on launch has such major issues. other wise its pretty fun except that there's very little synergy between characters so in most cases its better to not pick a second even though the game pushes you to do so on every run. it's also annoying that you cant skip dialogue in battle, the game will just hang while an enemy tries to speak then becomes unresponsive for 5…

neutral · AI labelView post →Kinda boring card game, the story mode consists in checking a to-do list on every fight, forcing you to play cards that you don't want to (if you want to 100% the game). The rougelike mode feels like an afterthought and it's meta progression doesn't feel impactful enough.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The bugs were hotfixed the day after. Still weird that such a big one hit after the game has been out for what, 3 years? It's a fun game with a lot of progression. In story mode there are 5(?) characters with basically 4 deck archetypes each, that you can mix and match cards from as you please. In the roguelite mode, you can't play any of those story heroes - I find that a little sad. And it's harder to have deck variety with the "mercenaries" you play as instead - you can add cards after…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After having playing to the end of the of the first campaign, I have to say that this game's balance is completely untuned and out of whack. I was playing the entire campaign with a single deck and beat every single match first try (except for the RNG one, which is frankly silly design but whatever) - that is already bad balance, the game until then was simply too easy. From the second chapter onwards I got plastered with new cards not even fitting my build, and they were not needed, either.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cross Blitz is good, not great. There are few single player, narrative focused TCGs; Cross Blitz doesn't have much in the way of competition. The biggest question facing you is this: is it worth it to play this game that is clearly based off Hearthstone, when you can just play Hearthstone? I think the benefit of Cross Blitz over Hearthstone (and its many sub-modes) is that is less brutal to start up. There are tough fights across the five campaigns and you can expect to lose a fight or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6.5/10 Mild Recommendation This game was unexpected. I bought this looking for a solid run based rogue-lite experience similar to Roguebook or Path of Champions which I'm a big fan of both. What I got was a rogute-lite mode that didn't have fluid controls or turn resolutions for games in this space, was very easy and really just all around mid. HOWEVER....despite having zero expectations for the story mode of this game it is the half of the game that won me over. 90% of my playtime…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cross Blitz was a really pleasant surprise for me, it's one of the rare linear deckbuilding RPGs out there which is a genre I love and it executes on it really well, I ended up playing through the 5 campaigns in just a few days. The presentation is stellar, pixel art looks great and the soundtrack really carries the vibe of each area, I was also surprised at how well written the story and characters were, they really managed to make me care about the world. The ending was kind of botched…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been one of my favorite games this year. As a long time Card Battler fan, this one scratches an itch I haven't scratched in awhile. The Deck Synergies are fun and imaginative, I can feel the passion the devs had for them while they created it. One Downside is it not having any kind of PVP. While I understand the cards are more balanced for building around the PVE aspect, I still think it'd be a LOT of fun having casual matches vs Friends and playing around with Builds. Hoping this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is an A+ deckbuilder no doubt. The available tactics are really fun and the deck templates make getting into a new deck archetypes an absolute breeze. 110% buy this game if you are even remotely interested. However, the game is currently is more of a 0.9 version than a 1.0. - When buying cards from the shop their cost doesn't scale properly in the larger UI. Leaving a black line next to all cost numbers - Cards need to update when their effects change. Some do, some dont. I.e.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really great deck builder, better than hearthstone in my opinion. Pixel art is really cool. I especially like the rougelite mode.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great if you are looking to play a CCG like HS PVE. It has a story mode that has 4 different characters each with different stories, different cards. It also has a roguelike mode similar to STS but with the same combat stile of TCGs like HS and MTG. As at the time of my review it's early acces and it has a character and play mode that are locked so there will be additional content
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely fantastic deckbuilder. Well worth the money and time. Some of the best pixel art in gaming, on top of extremely fun mechanics and excellent writing. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There aren't enough games like this that are 1v1 PvE card games, and this one is a seriously fun one at that, has a wild amount of content (six story campaigns and a deep roguelite mode), and has brilliant visual style and polish. All this for 20 bones??? If you like creature-battling trading card games specifically, you should pick this up, no need for a sale. If you like roguelite card games, also pick this up, no sale needed. It just looks good, feels good, sounds good, plays good.

positive · AI labelView post →Very fun deckbuilder/card game. The game has a single player story mode with 5 campaigns, where each is roughly 10 hours, so you can easily have 50+ hours of content here. Plus also the roguelike mode. The campaigns have a nice progression system, where you obtain money after each match to buy or craft new cards. And for each playable character there are vastly distinct deck archetypes that they can use. On top of my head there is pirate tribal, cannons, bombs, dragons, discard matters,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a good game in some aspects but since the only thing that made this game any hard at all is the very annoying RNG battles you cant avoid. The AI is very stupid and only makes RNG moves and doesnt block deadly damage, it makes it boring. Its sad that so many devs dont know how to make a game hard other than random elements or OP cards that disables your whole deck and forces you to construct a specific deck for just one fight. I personally hate the mechanic of "you have to play exactly this…
