Crypt of the NecroDancer
Developer Brace Yourself Games
Crypt of the NecroDancer is a 2015 roguelike rhythm game created by Brace Yourself Games. The game takes fundamental elements of a roguelike dungeon exploration game and adds a beat-matching rhythm game set to an original soundtrack written by Danny Baranowsky. The player's actions are most effective when moving the character set to the beat of the current song and are impaired when they miss a beat, so it is… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

Players find Crypt of the NecroDancer extremely difficult but rewarding. [1][2][3] The game combines rhythm and roguelike elements with a great soundtrack. [4][5][6] Some players struggle with the high difficulty and lack of accessibility. [7][8]

As much as i would love to like this game, i just can't. It starts off very nice but stage 4 (i mean not even %8 of players got this far) it's a mess. It's very poor game design, i will keep tackling this, but honestly i can't say i had fun playing this.

I'll admit it, the game is too hard for me. I've made it to the Necrodancer a few times but my rythmically challenged white ass can't deal with this anymore. Doesn't mean the game is bad but be warned: It's insanely hard. The achievements percentages reflect that a lot. 41% beat the first zone, 8% beat the 4th (final) zone. That should be enough to show you how rough this game is. That being said, if you're okay …

Once you start to get good at this game it becomes one of the best roguelikes you've played. Crypt of the Necrodancer is such a simple looking game but from the inside it's one of the most satisfying and complex game's there is. The gameplay's premise is quite simple. Defeat enemies to the beat of the music and advance the simple looking dungeons downwards facing bosses on the way. But once you start playing the …

I can confidently say this is the hardest game ever created. It's near impossible to 100% the achievements. I'm missing only 8 achievements and I don't think I'll ever get them. But it's still one of the most fun and replayable games, let alone rhythm games, I've ever played. The entire soundtrack slaps, the characters add so much replay value (only like 4 of them are super frustrating tho), and if you manage to …

Crypt of the NecroDancer is rough at first, not gonna lie. Rhythm based combat sounds fun on paper but the first hour or two you're just dying in a panic, missing beats, not understanding why you got hit Then something clicks. Once you stop thinking and start feeling the beat the whole game changes. You're moving with the music, not fighting it, and that fusion feeling when everything lines up is genuinely something …

Spelunky 1 and Crypt of the Necrodancer are some of the best game experiences I've had but because life is brutal and provides all difficulty I'm after, I'm not looking for difficulty in games, and a long string of roguelikes that were just too hard, I lost interest in the genre

Crypt of the Necrodancer, which still exists only as a Switch 1 game, had devs pushing updates to their code to try and fix a bad bug that happened exclusively on Switch 2. But at the same time, and probably more commonly, there are patches to the Switch 2 backward compatibility layer so more Switch 1 games run correctly through it (possibly with patches dedicated to special cases, but still part of the Switch 2 OS). I suspect the games in that list are examples of that since the…
