what starts as a fun but incredibly rough romp quickly devolves into mashing the punch and shoot buttons while you stumble through large open samey-looking environments with little to no direction. Everything, from the combat to the level design to the story to the characters is as shallow as a puddle.

So far, I've enjoyed DAMON and BABY a lot! The gameplay is simple, yet very satisfying. I really enjoy the art style, music, and atmosphere of the game. It's all very charming! Daisuke has shown his ability to mesh different genres together seamlessly with the likes of GG2, and DAMON and BABY is no exception. Elements of zeldalikes, twin sticks, rpgs, and of Diablo (plus more I can't think of at the moment) come …

This is a cute game that has some good ideas and fun level design, but needs a lot of polish to be truly great. I'd give it about a 6.5 out of 10. I was looking forward to this because the developer has a lot of unique and innovative gimmicks in the guilty gear series, but this game misses the mark pretty often. Here is what I think needs to be fixed: 1) Inventory management is a huge pain. Yes, you can buy bigger …

I do recommend Damon and Baby but with a caveat. It's a good game, I enjoyed it in the end but don't expect a super polished experience, it's was made by a small team in comparison to other Arcsys games, still it can be fun if you approach it like a metroidvania/dungeon crawler. Hope to see more of this IP in the future!

this is an extremely amazing game. not without its minor flaws, but the positives outweigh them all. a mishmash of genres with gameplay that has nods to late 90s/early 2000s games. awesome music, great environments, and a surprisingly deep story with great dialogue. if you like a combination of zelda/metroidvania/twin stick shooters, don't pass up this $20 gem.

neutral · AI labelView post →This is actually pretty good. Runs good, looks good (runs with no issues on Linux as well which is nice), mostly plays good both in the combat and just exploring the map. Very classic Zelda action-adventure type of game. I like how the platforming is free form enough that I can figure out ways to get to I-no's memory shards and stuff in ways that feel like I cheated to get to them early. Worst I can say is the writing is a little too simple even for a family-friendly game, especially with all…

neutral · AI labelView post →Having finished the game at around 22 hours, this should be the last update to my review barring any future content updates. STORY: It's all right. It's definitely a familiar premise seen elsewhere and ends about as much as you'd expect it to. Since a lot of the focus is on Damon and The Child, the rest of the supporting cast outside of Manjumaru feel a bit underdeveloped. There's an overall light tone with most of the dialogue and I did like how personalized the Demonpedia (bestiary) entries…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →like Damon and Baby looks fine but that trailer is just unacceptable, terrible editing, no real establishment of what kind of game it is, riddled with spelling errors, bro who is at the wheel. What is the plan here.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A weirdly high profile game made by a big company with big people behind it, that manages to feel like an indie title made by 1 guy in a week. There is very little polish, gameplay is slow and floaty, it's really just bad. There's no way it would still be "positive" if it was a no-name dev.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hi. last week when the new Damon and Baby trailer dropped, i realized i could read the in-game's universe's script. a substitution cipher! i was intensely motivated by the realization that this was also on Chaos' belly! so i deciphered all that i could! ... it turned out to be "HAPPY" backwards.
neutral · AI labelView post →TL;DR While not a perfect game, Damon and Baby was a really fun game to go through and I enjoyed my experience with it. I'm looking forward to future updates. Probably a 7-7.5/10 on launch. The combat takes a bit of time to get used to, but it feels nice once you get a grasp on how it works. Getting to do things you usually do in a fighting game in a twin stick shooter was funny, like chaining strikes into gunshots or ultimates. I ended up evolving my playstyle into doing combos that you'd do…

neutral · AI labelView post →Not quite 2 hours in but I had to write a review of how impressed I am so far and get this newly released game some much deserved hype. From the legendary Arc System Works, largely known for their fighting games but really they've made all sorts of stuff in their nearly 40 year history, and it shows here. This is a strange, funny, large, and wholly unique thing that seems like it was beamed to us straight from the PS2 era. It's a twin-stick shooter, a puzzle platformer, an open world sandbox, a…

positive · AI labelView post →This game really grabbed my attention. I don't know why other quotes are saying it looks bad, because to me this looks amazing. I am incredibly excited to play DAMON and BABY when it comes out.
positive · AI labelView post →Truly Daisuke's vision Very fun game, good to play in spurts without making it feel too exhausting. The game does not have a deep story, in fact you can argue it's all an excuse to shoot demons in an isometric platform environment, but the game has fun with what it has and makes the most of it. There's definitely passion put into this game, even if some areas fall short like how some areas are just a single area and one boss. If you're a fan of ArcSys's world with BlazBlue and Guilty Gear,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Daisuke's passion project, Extremely dad-coded, about 15 hours in length, very oldschool type of game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best game ever made, its gonna win goty calling it now. Life changing story, innovative characters, and astronomically beautiful graphics that will make you shed a tear.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Damon and Baby is gonna be the prequel to the long-awaited Guilty Gear X BlazBlue crossover fighting game, I can feel it.
neutral · AI labelView post →DAMON and BABY is probably the funniest game title in the last couple years
positive · AI labelView post →One of the first things that floored me about this game was the sheer amount of ambition put into it, despite being a lower budget game. The visual appeal was upfront, but the length of the game was longer than expected (devs approximated around 20~ hours iirc, I expected 12~ at most?) and it wasn't as linear as I thought it would have been. The devs clearly have so many ideas they want to execute that aren't typical for them to do and I greatly appreciate that alone. On that point, the game…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As our lord and savior Daisuke stated this is a small project nothing too crazy, but for you Blazblue and Guilty Gear Lore heads theres plenty of nods to the lore I'm sure you'd enjoy. So far its fun and pretty easy. Don't expect Pure Diamonds. After beating the game fully I give it a 7.5/10 again its not perfect but I mainly bought it for the lore side of things. Sometimes figuring out where to go can be a hassle and eventually you can become so strong that you delete enemies in seconds, even…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite slow start, still unlocking mechanics 4 hours in. The game has a stiffness but almost everything is cancellable into other actions with their own specific timings. It's not hard to perform but it definitely feels different. I'm enjoying it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lowkey I still want a new BlazBlue game… but honestly, I’ll take this for now lol.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a big fan of Daisuke Ishiwatari, Damon and Baby has been on my radar ever since it's announcement since he is spearheading the game and is in charge of the character designs. Here's my review of it so far. A Rough Diamond full of Heart The Art This is an extremely gorgeous game, The Art style is pretty, the lightning is beautiful and Daisuke's characters and enemies design are extremely charming, The music is atmospheric though it's nothing to write home about. The Story The story…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not bad. Takes about an hour for it to really start cooking. A bit stiff until you get the charge/dodge and double jump, then it really starts to roll. Got Metroidvania vibes. Could use some voice acting, the utter silence is wild.

neutral · AI labelView post →I trust Damon and Baby COULD be cool, but that trailer was just terribly edited and put together. Compare it to their mainline fighting game trailers where they hype you the fuck up. Get people EXCITED about your new stuff. But no, instead of reflecting on themselves, they blamed the BlazBlues.
negative · AI labelView post →Finally finished Damon and Baby after getting sick and work stuff intruding constantly. Good game overall. Written too simply, and structurally was clearly a lot of devs trying stuff for the first time, strong core at the center though. I look forward to Damon in Strive Season 5, I-No says so.
neutral · AI labelView post →Welp, we made it to the end of Damon and Baby. Had a lot of fun with this game and can't wait for the future updates. For next stream, it might be either on Saturday night or Monday night. We will see, but will update when I can.
positive · AI labelView post →Didn't finish it yet but it's been fun, Love the idea of making smaller games to train new developers, we need more smaller games in this industry.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8/10 would baby throw again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Arcsys wants this game to be a new pillar and I think they might be onto something. The game is a bit rough around the edges and multiplayer has some oddities, but I think the story is charming and the gameplay is fun. I am excited to see what the additional content would bring. This is a nice strong base and I'm looking forward to seeing how things develop. I hope Damon's original form is added as a skin in future updates as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuinely surprised on how much I enjoyed this, there is definitely some balancing issues (Certain builds were just to strong kind of skipping bosses) And there is a lot of missable upgrades if you don't search everywhere, and early on the inventory was tedious, But overall I really enjoyed playing it and wasn't expecting such an enjoyable experience once I finished it. Its very much not an award winning game but it was a good 25 hours
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10 a very refreshing game to play, good blend of new and old school games (2D Zelda, BulletHell, Resident Evil weapon and inventory, charming visuals, etc.). I would almost give it an 8/10 but I understand that the game could use some polishing (which is already planned): - Audio issues: audio level, loud and repeating sound effects. - Visual/Lighting issues: In some areas the lighting is too dark and becomes hard to discern object, environment and enemies. Really cool game and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly fun, the level design is clever and the writing is funny Boss designs seem crazy enough to want to see them all The world has a lot of little things hidden everywhere but I sometimes felt a bit lost not really knowing what to do until I stumbled onto more plot And it has I-No in it; GOTY.
