If you use Windows 11, DO NOT GET THIS GAME. If yo get this game with windows 11 the BattlEye Launcher becomes incompatible and the game will not launch. My only words to the devs, if you're going to make and market a game which was developed in modern times, keep it up to modern standards.

God I miss this game, was such a good time. if you can find servers kicking around still, totally go for it! the Insurgency devs were well built for a WW2 game, wish they'd do another in the time period.

Day of Infamy gained an aggregate score of 77/100 on Metacritic. Patrick Lofgren of GamingBolt gave the game a 7/10 and praised the game for its respawn system, allowing for players to respawn once their team completes an objective, instead of waiting for a long timer. Lofgren also criticized it for not being accommodating for newer players, stating "There is a learning playlist where new players can wet their feet, but the game graduates you out of this playlist quickly, and once it does you won’t be allowed to return."

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I had played more of this when it was still active. Now truly dead, a lot of of the gamemodes are rendered useless - even with bots. A shame, as it had a very entertaining twist on the Insurgency-style of class-based combat and weapon customisation, coupled with the hardcore gameplay that made it a nice middle ground for a lot of players. Good memories, but a relic of a time gone by.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Half of achievements remain broken since May 2025 (weapon-specific kills and headshots) and there is no sign of any fix so if you're looking to hunt achievements in this game, please save your time and money. It's unfortunate since achievement hunters can help breathe some life back in old games. The game itself was a fun, solid close quarters tactical WW2 multiplayer milsim released when WW1/WW2 games were hot (Battlefield 1/COD WW2) but the servers in 2026 are a ghost town.

Unfortunately, remembering is pretty much the only thing I can do nowadays since the game crashes your PC if you have Windows 11. Such a shame most people can't even boot it up anymore and the devs didn't care about it even back when it had players, let alone now. #SaveDayOfInfamy

I played it back in 2020-21 and was a blast, a really mix of Day of Defeat (it uses Source engine too) but more tactical, realistic and with amazing concepts. Solid game though, sad to see its in decline. I have fond memories of playing day of defeat and this was kind of like an expansion building off of that game. Also its still playable on windows 11 if you can get an updated version of the battleye anticheat and drop the files in. There's a few community guides on how to do this.

Unfortunately though, since I bought the game a little over a month ago, I haven’t been able to find a single populated PvP server—even on weekends. There's also the unresolved issue of the outdated BattlEye version, making it unplayable on newer versions of Windows 11 and posing as an additional barrier to entry for new players.

Now I think the game deserves a thumbs up as for the multiplayer proportion was good and also highly accurate and rewarding as well. The battles were epic and the weapons were good as well. They could at least reply to people in the discussions section but they don't even do that. New World Interactive isn't a billion-dollar company or a massive one. It's a company with 100 employees.
