Keeping it a 100: Its not as good as it is supposed to be. Dead in Vinland was a once in a century game for me. Dead in Antares kinda sucks ngl. First the good things: The production value and polish is very high and the overall survival mechanics are rather well balanced and in a good way very complex. If you've ever played Dead in Vinland, this is a (in my opinion) much more refined version of that game. Many of the systems from Vinland are back but expanded and given more depth. I don't write reviews. I'm a huge fan of Dead in Vinland. I'm probably going to enjoy the gameplay of this game. This negative review is solely because the absolute first thing this game does, not even one click or title screen in, is ask you for your e-mail address. I'm against needless data collection. Update: I enjoy the game, it's an improvement from Dead in Vinland in almost every way (I would appreciate the ability to customize the difficulty of the individual elements of the game). I'm…

As the game stands now, its not reccomended. Being a "survival RPG" the game is actually a point and click adventure with notification that you made error on day 15 and because of that on day 30 you are in point of no return. You are pushed down a narrow path of "survival", there is no alternative as game locks you on all available paths. You want to put your team to work ? Too bad, only 5 slots are avaialable, all other walled behind riduculous requirements. You need to get resources ? Too…

I really, really want to like this game but I can't - it's just so SLOW. I didn't enjoy the combat, which is a shame because it's so frequent. Every time you enter combat, the story grinds to a halt and it's a slog till it's over. When you find items on an expedition, you are told what you will receive but then for some reason are shown them again one. by. one. Even fastforwarding doesn't really make up for this. This and other things that super slowed down the pacing of an otherwise…

Hi, it’s been a long time since I’ve had to leave a negative review… but here we are. Gameplay-wise, Dead in Antares is a big step forward compared to its predecessors. There’s very little RNG, the management system is excellent, and even though a couple of extra tutorials would be appreciated, the information is clear. You always know exactly where your problems are coming from, which wasn’t the case in the previous games of the saga. Unfortunately, my biggest issues don’t come from the…

I want to start off by saying I wanted to love this game. I've been a big fan of the "Dead In" Series and have loaded up Dead in Vinland multiple times and ran through it with the different characters. The story for Antares is interesting and the resource management and productive struggle mirrors previous games. I pushed through and finished the game once. That will probably be the only time I play it however. Where this game has taken backwards steps compared to Vinland: 1) No choices in…

Big fan of the first two. This one is disappointing. The decision to limit how many people can be on stations, combined with the inability to delay new crew members waking up, means you're saddled with extra mouths to feed. The action economy isn't right. The lab station adds to this. Did they play-test this at all?

I bought this game because I’m a huge fan of Dead in Vinland. That said, I wasn’t very impressed by the sci-fi setting or the character design when I first picked it up. The bad: It was a very odd choice to give the three starting characters short white hair. I couldn’t tell them apart in the trailer, and in-game I initially thought they were siblings. The story is also somewhat mediocre. There’s a lot of cyber-babble, too many characters to keep track of, and a confusing political plot. I…

This has the bones for what could be a good game. But as it sits, it is fairly average. Like most of these types of games, they spent a fair bit on the visuals and have usually subdued but somewhat catchy background music. The game looks pretty clean, the UI which does exist usually works reliably, you get used to the game loop fairly quickly, etc. But the gameplay was made for the early game, the UI makes you painfully repeat things and requires you have perfect recall, and the story,…

Even though i saw this game through to the end, and I did enjoy some of my time, I'm gonna have to not recommend it. Unfortunately kind of boring and narratively sloppy. I really enjoyed Dead in Vinland, and while this game shares the same formula as this game, its heart is totally missing and I think the story conflicts are totally untuned to the experience. It tries to set up an "us or them" conflict, the solution to Earth's problems is to doom this new and beautiful planet, but it was…

The first few hours are a lot of fun! Assuming the game continues along the same lines, I definitely recommend it. If you've played Dead in Vinland, you'll be familiar with the systems. They've been improved in a lot of ways and are easier to understand, requiring a little less trial-and-error than DiV did. But they're still definitely challenging enough to keep the game engaging. Things are just smoother and less clunky than they were in DiV. They also have greater overlap in their impact on…

After some 40ish hours and finishing my run, game mechanics wise, based on playing the previous Dead in series, this game polish a lot of the pain points while trying to keep the same flavor but, with a different story context, that said, and after going through my first run, the story is all over the place, and based on some of the big choices you are able to make throughout the game, it is not clear what kind of results trigger what part of the ending at all, reducing (for me at least) the…

This game has a lot of potential. One thing that stood out to me after about 20 hours is that the combat needs a serious rebalance especially the “reflect/counter hit” buff that lasts forever, which is completely broken in a turn-based system. Combat should be more flexible, and many character skills feel boring. Once you’ve established the right upgrades for your camp and team, the gameplay starts to feel pretty linear.

I've put about 270 hrs into dead in Vinland, and made it about 14 hours into dead in Antares before making this review. The game is the same on many levels, but the deal breaker to me is that the game ends when any of the ten crew members die. In dead in Vinland, sure you had to keep the 4 family members alive, but if a companion was annoying, you could let them die off. In Dead in Antares you're stuck with them. Maybe there are some plot twists that happen later on where some can die, but…

It always eludes me why successor games lose features along the way. Take classical example: "Heroes 3" — a masterpiece, which "forgot" to change length of traveling arrows according to the traversity of the path on certain terrain with consideration of pathfinding skill and troops nativity to it. My thoughts? It's not an overlook, and not too hard to implement. It's either new developers in team who never loved the original, or greedy publishers who usher half-cooked product in a crunch.…

I love the "Dead in" series. This game is a good game to play, as long as you don't engage too much with the mechanics or the story. I'll cover the narrative aspects in this review (others make good criticism of the mechanics, that are also nonsensical and alienating). I like the dead in series, i played a lot of dead in vinland and it's the same but better. My only complaint is pretty stupid but it's a personnal preference. I think the character models are too hipster, and they kind of all look alike. The white hair everywhere doesn't do it for me. Dead in Vinland was great and this one didn't disappoint either. However, I have some constructive critisism. Sid Meier, the designer of the legendary Civiliziation series, once said the following when talking about making sequels: 1/3 of the sequel must be exactly the same as the prequel, so that returning players would feel right at home. Another 1/3 must be improvements. Better UI, better graphics etc... And the final 1/3 must be completely new features. Dead in Antares has the first…

I'm giving it a thumbs-up with an asterisk. If you haven't played Dead in Vinland, well, in a nutshell the gameplay is basically "keep numbers balanced." Make sure you have enough resources to keep progressing, while not accumulating too much of any of five kinds of "damage." It's relaxing. It's moderately challenging. It's got that just-one-more-turn feeling that keeps you up all night. And then there's also a sci-fi story. It's not the world's most groundbreaking sci-fi story, but it's…

This game should be enjoyable for those that love worker placement optimization. But the UI is horrible. Feels like it is designed for a small phone screen size. If I have W workers and S stations, then a single screen that has a matrix that is W that shows the potential output and cost for each worker at that station would be very useful for helping me decide which worker should work where. But instead I'm having to shift through several different screens of the camp, and manually drag…

This game is good, I'm not sure if it is better than Dead in Vinland, it is more fair, absolutely, but by being more fair it also feels way easier than Dead in Vinland, and I really never felt challenged (I played on the highest difficulty and didn't lose any single time, ever). Let’s start with the negatives first because, well, there is a lot to nag about in this game: I personally see this primarily as a narrative game. The mechanics in general are on the weaker side, which is fine for this type of game… but why the hell does everything take so long? I’m talking about literally everything feeling like a semi-grind. You have to grind daily actions such as resource gathering and exploration, and on top of that… animation time. To me, nothing ever felt like a real…

As a fan of the Dead in series, I really expected something different… something new. There are a few positives. Mission outcomes are clearly outlined, which makes it easier to choose which character fits a challenge or station. That part works well. But there’s a very strange design choice between Day 15 and Day 18. You automatically unlock not 1, but 3 additional characters when they awaken from their pods. By that point you end up with the full crew of 10 members - but you don’t actually…

The UI needs a little work which they will probably improve over time as this studio tends to do a pretty good job supporting their games over time. First impressions after about two hours. Dead in Antares feels very similar to Dead in Vinland, which in turn was a small evolution from Dead in Bermuda. The core gameplay is near identical; explore your surroundings, assign your team to various work tasks, and carefully manage your stats and debuffs. It's a good survival system if you like the vibe of always feeling like your team is just staying ahead of a doom spiral. Fans of the previous games will feel very comfortable. As for the…

Another superb game in the Dead in Blank series. Much more intricate - not necesarily complicated - than Dead in Vinland. Big recommend, although I do urge people to play Dead in Vinland first, as this one has a lot more moving parts.

Antares is a fresh new take on the Dead In series. There's lots of familiar gameplay, with some new twists added. And the polish is incredibly high. Dead In Bermudia to Dead In Vinland was a huge quality increase. Dead in Vinland to Dead In Antares does the same. Edit: The medium difficulty also feels much more medium, in a great way too. Less nasty RNG. Also, really dig the music. Wish there was more!

Dead in Antares focus on inventory & human resources survival management than turn based battle tactics, the story unfold when more expedition you travelled around the Antares planet with the help of Radar, and more members of the team with different stat will be unlock as day go by. There relationship and tension between members of the crews, limited crew slot (can be upgrade later) to manage water, power, food, and upgrade resources, while have to tackle with different alien threat tension…

i'm a Dead in Series Fan, i bought the supporter's pack and i finish the game in 4~5 days. Because it's in English, so it took me some more times. I love the game, although Dead in Vinland still my favorite one. But i can see how much effort the team had put on the story-line. I would say this one have a more deep thinking and meaning in it, while Dead in Vinland got more sense of humor. My first ending not very good, don't know if there's a perfect ending. Looking forward to have a Chinese…

I'm not great at writing reviews myself, and there are plenty that can get more in-depth with theirs than I can, but these are just my own personal thoughts. As a fan of Dead in Vinland, Dead in Antares keeps that same feel but adds a fresh take with a sci-fi genre. The characters of your ship unlock over time, and feel relatively well-paced so you can manage resources/upgrades in preparation for them. Each character feels different and fleshed out, though at time of writing this I haven't…

Not since The Witcher has a game been brave enough to feature so much white hair. I loved Vinland. This is more... IN SPAAAACE. Great writing, polished strategy, and going "one more day" until you're 100% tired and die.

Wish I could give a neutral review. Game is pretty decent, has things going for it, but at the same time, they are not fleshed out. Some choices are to simple to matter, like for example leveling you guys. The UI is also meh, you have to explore to figure out some things, very unintuitive. My biggest gripe with the game is how characters are. Women are mostly boss babes, guys are portrayed like homosexuals and I mean all of them. Art is very DEI and it hurts my eyes. But again, it is tolerable…
