What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 176 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (856 of 1,631 positive).
Some players find the game fun and relaxing, especially for fans of the show and simulators. [1][2][3] Many reviewers report the game is buggy, repetitive, and has been abandoned by developers. [4][5][6] Several players say it has potential but lacks content and polish, recommending it only on deep sale. [7][8][9]

Not a bad game, but it's pretty much just crabs all the way through. You’re mainly grinding to make more money, but at least you can AFK and let your crew handle most of the tasks.

I would recommend this game to anyone who likes the DC and simulators, but a casual gamer is most likely going to dislike this game strongly. I know I said a great deal of things to improve on but I genuinely enjoyed this game, it is very relaxing to play. This game has massive potential but it seems like there was some very lazy design throughout. The environment is beautiful, but there could be so much more going …

Do Not pay attention to positive reviews, they are just simps. This game is horrible and abandoned. I Started playing this when it was supported years ago and have only managed to stomach 20 hours because I really wanted a game like this to work and be good. there is no progression its a buggy mess that will never get fixed (it truly is abandoded with the last update being years ago its even been through mulitple …

This. Game. SUCKS! Dude. The controls are whack, the little mini-game activity things are awful, the tutorial is confusing because its missing information. Mainly inputs, but its also unclear in which order to do a task. Who made this? Who "OK'd" this? Its hideously ugly, the models are bare minimum at best. The controls for piloting the ships are terrible. You have to look at the steering module to use it and L\R …

Barely functional and abandoned by the developers since 2021. Only buy if you can deal with frequent, sometimes game-breaking or progression-blocking bugs - even the achievements hardly function.

neutral · AI labelView post →Complete load of junk, bugs, bugs bugs it's complete trash and a complete waste of money and now it looks like it's been abandoned I followed this game from day one. why could you just not make it like Alaskan storm but a modern up to date version?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Total waste of money even for $1. Full of bugs and doesn't explain what half the stuff is.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ignore all good feedback. This game was abandonware that got transfered between 3-4 dev groups and the game hasn't had an update in 3 years. I was one of the kickstarter backers and I complained about bugs in the server and about the state of the game and got banned immediately from the discord by the 3rd or 4th dev it got transfered to. Don't get me wrong, the first and second dev groups wanted to make this work but unfortunately didn't have the time or money to do so. The current dev does not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OOOOOF! If you want to see how someone can destroy your nostalgia. Look no further, I couldn't even make it through the tutorial. The amount of playable game play is absolutely not there from the original. You get more freedom in the form of a controllable character, but that's the only thing that was missing from the old game. Being apart of the crew. The weather animations are terrible, controls are absolutely uncontrollable. good luck trying to steer the ship with any accuracy. There is no…

The OG Devs abandoned the game in 2020 and then the current devs bought it and posted 2 very very minor updates (in 2021) that dont even work properly and abandoned the game themselves at the end of 2021. its a very unpolished and buggy mess. the game has enough content to play for maybe 3 hours before getting repetitive. the game has been abandoned for years and will probably never be updated again but the devs still love allowing this…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm often a big fan of simulation games. I like playing around with the system, figuring out different ways to do things, setting things up to be good at different tasks. This is an extremely narrow, dull simulation game. From the way the controls are set up, you plod around. The game wouldn't let me bind the run button to the same button as move forward, nor would it allow me to remove the turn speed limit that makes it feel like there's input lag. The tasks you have to do are also…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game has a lot of bugs some are game breaking, got to a point where i could'nt interact with anything. For a $1 game i still feel like i over paid. wouldn't recommend this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not to mention, higher scoring games tend to be more mainstream, because they're more legible to critics. Sometimes, something outside of mainstream is exactly what you want. Deadliest Catch Alaskan Storm generally scored 6/10, and the fans of that game I meet are by far the most enthusiastic.
neutral · AI labelView post →Devs abandoned the game. Basic game is good though.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is still riddled with bugs and what makes it worse the bugs are the same ones they claimed to have fixed a couple years ago

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not Great. Maybe its what you're looking for, but its very cumbersome. I bought the game because I thought it would be cool to take a big boat out and really try and figure out how to catch a lot of crab. Get a good crew, upgrade the boat, and most importantly, find a lot of crab. 1. the crew sucks, its just bad. They are slow, they are clunky and its frustrating. 2. There are a few upgrades to make to the boat, but nothing special. There are a ton of just really stupid "busy work" tasks that…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this as a bundle with a game that I actually wanted. Figured I would grab it regardless of the bad reviews. Couldn't even make it through the tutorial. Not playable, not enjoyable. Glad it was only like $0.50. XD
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really buggy the crewmen just stand there doing nothing and for the most part of the game you are just saving and restarting just to get your pots
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game could have been a whole lot better and up to four players co-op online either playing together on one boat or their own boat. just another waist of money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is buggy as all hell, waste of money.... good luck making it a full season with out it bugging out, locking up, or crashing your PC....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Broken crane and unable to fix.Game over. Its buggy and needs rework.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want to have a bit of fun and then have a un repairable ship that you can no longer use....broken hydraulics that WILL NOT REPAIR when using repair kits that are buyable in game then go ahead and waste your money on this game. Devs have walked away from this and will not reply to your requests. Save your hard earned money, walk away from this game and spend elsewhere
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →And here I thought this was going to be like Alaskan Storm. Instead, they focus your tutorial on being a deck hand. No one wants to be a deck hand. No one. The point of the game should have been "be a captain". Instead, from the very beginning I'm put off with the fact that I start out learning how to set a pot 17,000 times before I can be a captain. Then you go and be a captain for about 5 seconds then back to being a deck hand. No one wants to be a deck hand. Your tutorial is trash. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For now, I'd say no to recommending it. They did not fixed the bug where you cannot close the pot in the tutorial making it impossible to learn anything else. Very annoying to spend money on something I barely played in short time, but if I'm going to play a game I would like to know how to play it and really would like something to open and close when its supposed to. I will try again later sometime. Hopefully the bug really gets fixed. Such a bummer bc I really wanted to play this game as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is newer then the Xbox 360 version and I'd still rather play the Xbox 360 version. They removed 90% of the stuff the game originally had and some how made this game so buggy it's unplayable after season 2. The machine on the boat like to quit working randomly to the point were you can walk threw them and see inside the machines textures. Things they removed and changed. The main boats from deadliest catch, Painting you're entire boat, The Actual people you could hire from the bar…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is fun to a degree it has good graphics but the gameplay needs to be better for example I pretty much had upgraded everything in about 2 seasons and after that it was unexciting because there was really nothing left to improve. Also once I learned that I didn't need to sting pots and all I had to do was sail to the area by fast travel and sit there and drop the pots all in the same spot and recover them 14 hours later and then drop them right back in once they are all dumped on to the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was fun until it was over. For 99cents on sale it was worth it, but this game could use a lot more content and mechanics. Needs a lot of bug fixes too. But is what it is
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just way to many bugs. They post a list of the fixes and really thats all it is a post, since everything they list is still broke. Im glad it was cheap or i would of been mad. Game is fun to play and could of been so much more.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i would not recommend getting this game until there is a update, there are some bugs that kinda ruin the experience
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deadliest Catch: The Game, developed by 4Fishing and published by Ultimate Games S.A., is an ambitious attempt to translate the high-stakes world of crab fishing—immortalized by the popular Discovery Channel series—into an immersive simulation experience. Set in the unforgiving waters of the Bering Sea, the game puts players in the boots of a captain managing not just a vessel, but an entire operation, from crew and gear to navigation and the unpredictable environment. With its roots in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright, its not terrible but has it issues! Example frame rate is all over, and the game has no give when it comes to doing tasks. Can also seem to be very repetitive, and the PRICE POINT is terrible unless you get it on a mega sale as I recommend. While that sounds ruff, the game has it fun side, and is interesting. If you like big game fishing, and want to simulate/ manage a ship at sea then you can't go wrong. Once again look for the SALE! Enjoy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is just broken and very very bare bones. The coding is trash. I've clipped through the deck of my ship too many times to count. No autosave. you can dump 20 pots in the same spot and each one will come up full. You can literally just farm the same spot over and over. There isn't a single spoken line in the game. There is no challenge.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Year is 2005. and this TV show kicking on Discovery Channel. Salute to all those brave people from crews on ships, who messing around in stormy weather on the restless sea. Those are one of the hardest tasks and jobs. From incredible TV show to a game, simple briliant. This game is good, and not bad for a ship sailing simulator. Its bugy but ignore those annoying bugs, dont mind on it, just enjoy sailing the sea and CATCH some crabs. :)))
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a bad game, the tutorial is not broken in my experience, nor did it take a lot of time to complete and was very straight forward. There is a few bugs while in career with some crabs that are male for some reason the game is saying it's a female, so i might lose a couple or few crab during the sorting process cause of this, and one instance where the pot was stored but visually was still on the launcher. For the ones who bring the fact in about it being only crab fishing, uhh well no…
