Some reviewers criticize the game for punishing RNG and poor balance, especially regarding explosions. [1][2][3]

You know what? I give, it’s not fun. The bones are there for a great game! BUT, Frankly I think the devs need their heads examined on this one. I'll do my best to keep spoilers out. If you don’t want to read a long wall of text. TL:DR This game has flaws, it has great points. It also has one fatal flaw, explosions that damage player characters. Skip it, not worth the time or energy. OK in no particular order, the …

I enjoyed *Deadly Days* for the short time I played it, but I found the RNG far too punishing. My biggest issue was food. After looking through guides and discussions, I found that players mainly get food from three different sources, one of which is supply drops. Unfortunately, whenever I reached a supply drop, I almost always received weapons instead of food. I lost far too many runs because of bad luck rather …

Relaxing gameplay with pause-function and a bit micro-managing. Much stuff to unlock, get's a bit tedious when you got the basics, and go for the tougher challenges. I enjoyed it for 20 hours.

neutral · AI labelView post →I like the game. It really starts off rough, and then runs can get good. It is just too much and doesn't respect the players time, even for a roguelike - very rapid difficulty increase even on easy very rapid nighttime difficulty increase (understandable for the genre, but with all else its meh) Special zombies - especially movement impairing which can easily drop a survivor if you miss it Environmental hazards that are impossible to avoid - i.e. lightning Map impediments like…

Overall Rating - Painfully Bad ★☆☆☆☆ First Impressions A month ago, I received a review key for Deadly Days Roadtrip, which wound up being a spin-off to a game I already had in my inventory. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a great game, until it decides to instant gib your entire team for no reasonable reason. I like to consider myself to be intuitive, and yet I have no idea why Im dying. Ill have a solid fun run, until I go into a level and I just lose all of my people with no way to counter it. First time was a lightening storm, constant damage and unavoidable strikes. Second good run was as soon as I left the bus, Im not even sure why or how as there was no feedback for me to reflect on. So my review is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall good ideas in mechanics and overall good execution but severely hindered by a small few critically bad design decisions. The most egregious problem is that most of the effort that has gone into balancing the rest of the game goes to waste because of the surprising prevalence of powerful explosions with little warning which can easily wipe an entire team of survivors in an instant. After learning how to get past the early game, this has been the cause of every single one of my failed…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know about you, but the more a game makes me race against time, the less actual time I'm willing to dedicate to it. In this case (hurry before night falls! hurry before the zombies become too strong!), an hour is more than enough, and I have better things to play. Also, this one features idiotic design decisions. For example, you can freely heal during a mission, but not while "resting" in your base. Riiiight...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly these grabber zombies are just insanely annoying. I just can´t approve of any game where one of the main features is you losing control over your character every 5 seconds

neutral · AI labelView post →Game starts fine at first there are a lot of great ideas, then you get hit by all the randomness and rushing. It feels like going to work after some time instead of being fun and entertaining
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deadly Days is not my kind of game. I don't like 'hurry up' games or games with so much busyness on the screen that it's hard to tell whats what. The colors and the blocky graphics blend together too much. Not recommended
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deadly Days It's not exactly terrible but it's not great either. You start with your randomly generated guys, loot some more weapons and then find more guys and then you go around looting. In Deadly days you can loot scrap which is 70% of what you will find, weapons which is 20% of what you will find, food which is 5% of what you will find and hammers which also 5% of what you will find. So you will have endless amount of scrap and useless weapons with little bit of food and some hammers. You…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Inspired by Balatro, "Break the game" is a design goal for Deadly Days: Roadtrip. My teammate is working on an air pump item that inflates bullets of ranged weapons and the size of melee weapons. Taken to the extreme in the video 🙈 #indiedev #gamedev #indiegame #UnrealEngine
neutral · AI labelView post →I for one do NOT enjoy unbalanced randomness. I don't mind having to manage, balance or just be good at things, but being at the mercy of the game's ongoing "I will just let you starve, because, well, I guess gamebalancing was either not done or our understanding of roguelike means FORCING people to die no matter how well they play". Not an approach I can condone and after giving the game a genuine hour of showing me that doing several runs might maybe improve the situation - it simply did not.…

neutral · AI labelView post →The ♥♥♥♥ is this game? I can't beat it for ♥♥♥♥ because something stupid happens. The final mission will kill your whole time when a smoke cloud explodes and cuts your team's hp in half. The final boss spawns more zombies then you can kill and will turn their speed up to an unavoidable level. The levels are an endless clicking maze that gets boring quickly and you'll die because you didn't find a good weapon.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Who knew the apocalypse could be so relaxingly chill? Deadly days has very simple gameplay and mechanics and at first I thought it was going to be a big grind, the roguelike grind, full of evil RNG and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unlucky procedural maps that want to kill you, well, kinda but the game gives you enough arsenal to stand your ground and still win, i felt this is where the fun challenge came from, learning what kind of team and weapons to use against the luck the game throws at you at any given run.…

neutral · AI labelView post →The game is pretty fun but it's way too heavily RNG based. Sometimes airdrops give you purple weapons that outclass weapons 10 levels higher than them. Sometimes they give you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ grey weapons that you immediately scrap. I've had games where you don't get any purple weapons and I don't even think those are possible to win. Sometimes there are piles of explosive barrels (which the game never even mentions exist) behind buildings which will instantly kill you. Sometimes giant electric…

neutral · AI labelView post →Deadly Days is a roguelite that fully embraces failure as part of progression. Dying is expected, but each run meaningfully feeds into the next through unlocks, knowledge, and smarter decision-making. New survivors, weapons, and items steadily expand your options, and each character’s expertise encourages thoughtful loadouts and synergy rather than brute-forcing your way through encounters. Winning feels earned because it’s built on lessons learned from multiple failed runs. The gameplay loop…

positive · AI labelView post →I recommend this game for a short period of entertainment, if purchased on a massive discount, like over 50% off. It is extremely RNG, unbalanced (threat level goes crazy fast. Rats swarms and rat zombies are very bad news early on, but still not as bad as explosion zombies at any point which are extremely dangerous and can kill your whole team at any level), and the difficulty absolutely rockets up from a quiet start to silly very quickly. But it is still kind of fun for a little while…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Top down Zombie RTS with Looting, Loots, Upgrades, Skills, Management, Guns In Pixel graphics, Honestly, I did not expect to have fun with such a game, But It proved me wrong ! I can't even tell if Judging a game by the gameplay, videos can persuade me to play it is the way to go, but if you like looting, managing resources, zombie killing, rts, then you are up for a trip. Sure, it can be rough at times, but it feels good when you get rewarded based on your progression, plus it had a "Level up…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First decent run, was doing really well and started to use strategy, was doing my 4th burger place to get the last map piece, bosses spawned, slime dudes, insta wipe, less than 1 second for the whole squad, that's not fun, that's not good game design, i don't care what you have to say for it, it's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Really fun game ruined by this ♥♥♥♥.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →edit: after playing more, ive had teams of roughly 4-6. but still nothing like the in game screenshots. its fun for a while.. but definitely doesnt feel like a rogue lite. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty much the reason I'm downvoting is because, as an achievement hunter, this game is terrible. If you aren't going for the achievements, then this is a fun little game. If you are going for achievements, then you're going to enjoy the game, and feel like it's so simple and straightforward that it must be a fairly lowkey 100%. You'd be dead wrong. The Good It's incredibly simple and easy to just jump right in. Zero learning curve. When I first started I was actually immediately…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Far too random, and too punishing. My favorite part is when the Smoker type zombies are on the field, and your group of survivors run to the bus - all get on, except one who gets grabbed at the last second. Can you pull your other survivors off the bus to save your last pawn? Nope, they're just dead now, sorry.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's been fun, I'm having a blast thanks. I picked this up two years ago in 2024 and the backlog has grown and games have come and gone, but I'm happy to have fired this one up finally. Deadly Days is like a rogue-lite, real-time XCOM loot-runner horde survival type of game.... You're doing like two minute daily runs to grab loot, choosing areas of preference to find supplies in hoping of building out the best run you can to take on the final challenge. In terms of rogue-like mechanics, some…
