What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 177 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (534 of 718 positive).
Some players find the game fun and challenging, praising its level design and stealth-platforming blend. [1][2][3] Others criticize imprecise controls, especially wall jumps and ladder mechanics, which cause frustration. [4][5][6] Several note the game is short and free, with mixed opinions on its overall value. [7][8][9]

Albeit free, it's a bit hard to recommend a precision platformer lacking on one of its fundamentals: precision. To me one of the most important aspects in this genre is how the controls adjust to your movement compared to the level design. If the level asks you to time a jump perfectly and you are able to implement that in practice with enough yet achievable skill, no problem. However, if it depends on factors …

This could have been a decent platformer, but it suffers from some glaring issues you will notice as you progress further into it. Which won't be long since the game takes a little under 2 hours to complete. I will say that I enjoyed the level design. It was varied enough despite being modular and the difficulty scaling as you go through the 3 levels was on point in regards to platforming. If there is one good thing …

its a good game, if you finished any "hard platformer" (celest, meat boy, etc.) this is pretty normal, nothing to crazy. At the moment the only thing that feels somewhat bad its the walljumps and the ladders, but everything else its good really. Not to dismiss the rest of reviews, but it feels some people just grabed the game bc it was $0.00 and then got frustated by its difficulty and came to complain, really ITS …

Janky hack, mate! The only reason I can recommend this game is because it's free, short, and I had a tiny bit of fun Completed the game with 450-ish deaths overall, 90% of which happened because wall jumps want to give you up, ladders want to let you down, and all other obstacles want you to run around them, because your character's hitbox is a few multiverses ahead of you and has entered the realm of sixhead Now, …

At first it felt hard, but once I started listening to some Bad Bunny on spotify, it started becoming fun. maybe it was the music but I had a fun vibe and so will you I’m telling you! chillzzzZ

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first I thought this would a fun little classic styled platformer from back in the day. However, I soon found out it wasn't as fun as it looks and here is why: Pros: ✔ Classic style platformer. Like one of the original platforms from 20 years ago ✔ Small file size ✔ Time waster Cons: ✘ Wall jumping seems off. I died more times than I should have due to trying to wall jump and it failing ✘ Seems less of a skilled platformer game and more of a waiting and a jump working correctly sim. 90%…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A quality indie game with well-crafted level design — every stage brings something new and keeps you on your toes. The sound design fits perfectly, and the mix of parkour and stealth feels smooth and satisfying. You really get that rush when you clear a tricky trap on the first try 😎🔥. Definitely recommend it to anyone who appreciates smartly made indie projects 🎮.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was able to beat this game and get all of the treasure chests under 2 hours, but it was certainly a struggle; and not for the right reasons. This game has a lot of quirks with its gameplay that ultimately make the task of finishing sections harder than it needs to be, and that is largely due to the game requiring precise platforming with a very imprecise physics engine. • Falling off ladders if you so much as press Left or Right if you haven't reached the very top • Wall Sliding from a…

Precision timing and quick reflexes are your only tools for survival as you climb your way out of this sadistic dungeon. ⭐ Rating: 7/10 – Tough, fast, and funny — a satisfying challenge for fans of hardcore platforming and dark humor. - Video Gameplay - https://youtu.be/hkb16JXrjBA - Follow my curator page - https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45547027/

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has issues, including lag on later levels, and very short music loops. My main complaint would be the 'snap up' to platforms. I couldn't tell you how many times I died because I had to walljump, but the game snapped me up into spikes above instead. That said, I had fun. It's challenging, not too long, visuals are nice.

neutral · AI labelView post →Unpolished, but pretty fun. The biggest issue is clipping into spikes and the lack of a "restart chapter" button or a chapter select menu.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not recommended - slippery controls and seemingly impossible jumps that rely on walljumping that only works when and how it feels like. The game is also really short (about 2.0 hours - cheap games tend to be) with three stages and then you get a simple "Congratulations you Escaped!" screen. The last stage has a lot of spiky rooms requiring repeated precise walljumps to avoid instakill spikes. Oh and the disappearing yoku blocks too. I simply do not seem any incentive to play this one. It is…

neutral · AI labelView post →Stealth, Parkour, and Pixelated Prison Breaks: Death Fungeon Quick Tip for New Escapees: Don't rush through the guards right away. You have two distinct ways to play: either play it slow by hiding behind objects and dodging guard sightlines, or use wall-jumps and ledge grabs to speedrun past traps. Choose your rhythm early on! Death Fungeon offers a surprisingly engaging blend of stealth mechanics and precision platforming wrapped in a charming retro pixel-art style. Escaping this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite a good game, but it would be good if I could choose my stage to get my missing diamond with achievement for motivation to clear the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s fun enough for passing the time. Sure, it could be better, but since it was free, I’m satisfied.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice simple distracting platformer to distract from the reality of the world.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple platformer, probably inspired by Celeste, but without complicated movement set. Nice, solid and consistent - gives lot of fun, requires both accuracy and logic thinking. Very cute game. BTW, impressive that it fits in 9 MB
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cool little game cannot complain for free. something to piss around on.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little platformer that, should have been released in 1989 for the Amiga, would be looked at by seasoned geeks with nostalgia glasses. It can be easily beaten in a single afternoon, and the level of challenge is just about right, neither too casual nor too hard: if you've beaten Celeste, this will seem like a piece of cake in comparison, but you still may sweat a bit at times. It relies on a small handful of gimmicks, but they get the job done. The main con is that the music loop is short…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even though this game has no achievements, I still played it through. It has some unique charm to it with the art style and level design. It is a 2D-Platformer and you always need to be careful to not be caught by those bad guys. Since I got it for free it was fine for me :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If I had a nickel for every time I died, I would have $3,471.00.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It would have been a great game, if only the gameplay wasn't this bad while playing with the keyboard. The game is more likely to be compatible with gamepads, since the wall-kick registers 6 out of 10 times. There is no plot, so it's just a simple-built 2D platformer - I've got personally nothing else to add. The graphics are bare pixels (that's what you get for a game that takes less than 10 MB of your disk space) If the gameplay was fixed and not that garbage, I'd have put 9/10 (my ears…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Death Fungeon has a lot going for it. The art direction is strong, the levels are well‑designed, and the overall presentation is solid. My biggest issue is the character control: wall‑sliding feels slippery, and the movement never reaches the tight responsiveness of something like Super Meat Boy. The game is also much easier by comparison. It’s a short experience, easily finished in a few hours, and it would benefit from achievements or optional challenges to give chest‑collecting more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →** Game NOT finished ** I threw the towel, after I played like 50 times in a row in one screen and I couldn't pass it, maybe like 40-50 screens deep in the game. But yes, it was kind of fun! 6/10 Ratings (0-3 Don't bother @ all) (4-7 The Average) (8-10 One of the best) Posted March 7, 2026
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A platformer with nothing special to offer. Its only got three levels: the first two are pretty easy, but the last one is totally unforgiving. You cant even rebind the keys. Its basically designed to make you quit.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game seemed fine for a while until you get to areas where there are small sections of walls between spikes you have to wall jump from. This kind of obstacle exists in Super Meat Boy too. When I fail this obstacle in Super Meat, it is my fault. When I fail this obstacle in this game, it's the games fault because this is clearly not implemented properly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is all about self-torturing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game to play while you work Its very distracting and very easy to play
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good enough to play You will enjoy the levels
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad short little platformer. HOWEVER there are some really terrible issues that make the game feel like a bit of a slog at times... The wall jumping feels really weird and unresponsive, not to mention if you hold to direction away from the wall while jumping it just completely drops the jump input so you fall and die. Another issue(somewhat related to walljumping) is that they make a lot of walls you are supposed to jump off quite small, which would be all well and good except for the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting 8-bit style game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Repetitive music, gets too much like an inferior Super Meat Boy by the third stage. Also there's no way to close the game, and no pause menu? ESC does nothing! Fine for about an hour's worth of entertainment if you can get it for free I guess.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good oldschool game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very fun time waster
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Completed the game. I mean it's alright I suppose. The game's tutorial is essentially just giving you scenarios to learn if that makes sense so that's all fine. The biggest issue I have becomes apparent in the late game. There is this slight clipping issue where if you land on the side of a block right on the corner it zips you on top of the block. This means for all of the precise wall bounces towards the end of the game feel incredibly annoying. Also the other complaint I have is the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →moderately fun-geon, not really a lotta justified death, the platform collisions are awful
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥♥♥ free game, no apparent saves, no menu, no options key, no normal default human keys, fkn earape every time, easy asf except like 2 levels, was almost finishing the game then wanted a break but it didn't give me a save option, so i closed window, then joined again and was in the beginning of the game even though it has a clear save ♥♥♥♥ button in lobby.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun and enjoyable. It’s simple, smooth, and entertaining, with great gameplay and good vibes all around. Addictive and satisfying, I keep coming back for more. Overall, a solid game that’s fun, relaxing, and has just the right amount of challenge.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm terrible at platformers. Still managed to finish it. Pretty fun game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only reason this game was given for free at some point is because the maker of this game is a pos that makes a mini pixel matter, miss by a 0.01% the right pixel and you fucked the whole level. I give it a 10/10 would never play it again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OKish platformer game, despite the awkward controls. The game is split into 3 areas: Area 1: Easy, you just need to be patient. Area 2: Moderately difficult and demands occasional precision jumps and timing. I died about 106 times. Area 3: I only played about a third before deciding to quit. It demands a lot of precision jumps and timing and is probably only for hardcore players. I didn't finish the game, but I can recommend it to hardcore platformer enthusiasts when it's on sale. Note that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does nothing differently or of note compared to any other platformer. It's bland and by the books, doesn't stand out.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although the art style is engaging enough, the repetitive gameplay loop and agonisingly slow death transition made Death Fungeon a real slog to play, even for short periods.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The visuals kind of reminded me of some of the great flash games I played back in the day. The game itself isn't like those, the gameplay is very basic and not creative. Looking at what else is advertised I don't think I'll be missing much by getting off here.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think it would be nice to add steam achievement integration
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such bad input detection and wonky movement that I dont want to play it even for free...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really fun and I like that you can do multiple ways to escape during some floors. HOWEVER!! You need to have pixel perfect jumps for the wall jumping. And it drove me INSANE. But other than that, cute and short platformer, give it a try. EDIT: IT DOESNT SAVE YOUR PROGRESS???
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is kind of fun but is severely lacking in some key programming. The game doesn't have a taskbar portion (can't remember the name of the actual item) so if you minimize or tab out of the game, tabbing back in is the only option. No way to click on it to get back in. Some gems seem impossible to get unless there is some sort of double jump you unlock and get to go back through with a new game + or something, but overall pretty chill and fun stealth game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most boring repetitive games i have ever come across off, why did i get this recommended
