Literally just a card game, it's alright for the 87 cents I paid. Can't give this a positive review due the the game description listing "Story mode with several diverse endings, and an infinite competitive mode." while in game there is just a start button that leads you to a few lines of intro dialogue and a game of Durak against an NPC. The several diverse endings in are the following: 1) You win>screen goes …

Pros: - This game is dirt cheap. - The atmosphere is very strong, made by a low light environment, thundering war sounds in the background, and grimy visuals. - The card game is new to me and was confusing at first, but easy to pick up after a few games and quite fun. Cons: - The game doesn't really have a story in the traditional sense - there is some background narration to explain what's going on, but it's quite …

Durak is a post-Soviet era card game with enduring popularity in Russia. Players alternate attacking and defending, playing cards from their hand that are matched with one of a higher rank in the same suit or a trump card, with the game ending once a player has no cards in their hand left. It is a natural fit to frame Durak in a wartime scenario, especially one painted as poignantly grim as this. Not romantic or …

I never heard of Durak until playing Deckline. The atmosphere is really good for such a small game. Even as a novice, a few losses gave me lots of insight and led me to my first win. Now I'm pretty interested in Durak overall. In short, this is great for whether you're fully focused or listening to lore videos in the background.

Relaxing, immersive, and surprisingly addictive. A fun card game with a dark chilling atmosphere.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →don't get me wrong, the game isn't bad. but i took the time to learn to play losing a few rounds in the process and, when i won, there was nothing. only "score". and no motivation to keep playing. i think it needs a progression system and i don't mean turning it into a roguelike. it's ok to focus on the Durak real game but it could make some narrative changes based on your wins or loses, what you do in the game, how many pills you use, etc. i profoundly enjoy settings like this in a game, but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Presents itself as a horror narrative being told through a card game, I thought it was some 'search the background and interact with surroundings to reveal cool stuff' action like Inscryption, what with the '7' on the wall and the lantern and the drugs on the table and... turns out, nope! It's just a regular-ass, Bicycle-deck grandma card game with atmospheric effects. I could also play blackjack in the dark with Saving Private Ryan in the background. Neat.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty neat! My first exposure to Durak, which turns out to be a handy little pick-up game. As for the video game here itself (Deckline), it's a neat window dressing. I can't help as I'm typing this notice how far we have become as society when the horrors experienced by our elders in the trenches are now just a simulated, digital accompaniment to a card game played by youths in their leisure.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Your regular 1v1 Durak with the CPU in a fancy wrap. Devs implemented the basic rules and called it a day. There's no story, no extra features, it's not a roguelike. If you have played this once, then you saw it all. You can look around the room to see your depressed comrades, AK leaning on a bloodstained wall, and a world map but this is not Inscryption, there's no meaningful reason behind any of those besides to set the atmosphere. The two available interactables, a lamp and pills also serve…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd seen some glowing reviews for this but at the moment this is MUCH more bare bones than you're imagining. The "story" is infinitesimally small and the card game is missing even the most basic quality-of-life features like being able to rearrange the cards within your hand to see suits/ranks better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So it's basically a slavic card game "Durak" without any additional twists and modifications. And I want twists and replayability and something interesting. Atmosphere is cool, yes but... can't say more good things. Don't recomend to my degenerate gamblers and Kaiji enjoyers.

It has multiple endings and even an online leaderboard allowing for high replayability. Check it out here. Out now: store.steampowered.com/app/3481320/...

neutral · AI labelView post →Deckline is described as a horror card game with ‘a raw depiction of the war zone’. While it has a bleak story, it’s just a couple of lines at the beginning and two very short endings (sound effects with a black screen). It also has some neat ideas like keeping track of light and your health, those are very minor parts of the game. I’m not saying this as a negative, I’m only setting the right expectations. You can turn the story, credits and tutorial off to facilitate quick matches. This…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The setting is interesting and the card game itself is quite fun to play, but that's where the positives end. The "story" is practically non-existent and can be completed within 15 minutes due to the card game being very quick. There's no real incentive to carry on playing, especially when the "unlimited mode" requires you to press restart every time you complete a game, which feels both frustrating and counter-intuitive. Why can't the same generic NPC you play against the entire time just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The famous Russian card game "Durak" With a military theme Endless replayability Nothing much to add here Cons No multiplayer
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The card game part is interesting, but the flashing and the visual distortions I could have done without. To not have an option to turn off or turn down screen shaking and flashing lights these days is ridiculous. the controls seem sluggish to respond, and for a game that says see the steam guides if you have further questions, there are no steam guides. if this was anything more than $3 id be irritated, but i think as of right now its just going to be one that collects dust in the collection.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is great but story is short and honestly not a lot of content besides the replayability with the W/L ratio. Besides that would recommend to sit it out and wait for major update or some form of content to be included.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deckline was a game with a chance to great, but sadly it feels like a rushed mess 1. its missing MANY FETURES, diologe, more background sound, (SERIOUSLY IT REPEATS SO MUCH), a shuffeled deck (its the same each time) and it doesent even have a menu to check rules with a card game!! 2. it not fair, since of there being only one layout of card its allways unfairly in the oppents favor leaving the player at a unfun disadvantage, 3. if you get lucky you can beat this 5.00 GAME in like 20m…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is only worth if it's less than a dollar. you finish the game in what a typical Durak Game lasts.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a lot of atmosphere, but that's its only redeeming feature. There's no plot whatsoever, and it doesn't quite deliver as a card game simulator. There's no option for more than two players, no optional Durak rules, no challenges, no multiplayer and no customizable card decks. The constant explosions, lights going out, and coughing that initially create the atmosphere quickly become tiresome and irritating.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Fool, aka Durak - Its a good game, set against a tense, wartime backdrop where victory = life and defeat = death its a standard card game, so if u were hoping for an rpg, soulslike, or gambling, u wont find that here, better play Balatro, bc u will found this game very boring (if u expecting what i wrote above) however, if u’re looking for meditative gameplay, this game is perfect. It will brighten up a couple of evenings, even keep u entertained, and refresh ur memory of the card game…

neutral · AI labelView post →I was expecting something as the RE7 minigame but it wasn´t. Even for a poker game and how cheap it is I could give a neutral review, but for me it was a wasted 20 minutes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a waste of money. If i'd known the content is 20minutes, id never spent anything
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one I wish I could post a neutral review for. I can see players liking the game, and it is well made, but the only parts of the game are the traditional card game Durak and a well-crafted atmosphere. Since Durak is a pretty fast game, and since this game has no additional story or progression that I'm aware of, you can see everything the game has to offer in around 15 minutes. That being said, if playing a traditional card game in a dark well-crafted atmosphere is something you'd like,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good little game with the uncomfortably depressing atmosphere. It has no story or goals, yet it's still soled enough to keep you occupied for a couple hours. Not my type of game though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good but needs more content
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I found you guys on Youtube Shorts, and this game is great! The atmosphere is amazing and super immersive, and it makes the game so much more intense. Not to mention I just learned how to play Durak from this game, and it in itself is lots of fun. I will say, if the game performs well, you should consider a multiplayer mode, as I've heard that Durak is much more fun when it's not just two players. I also noticed the main menu looked a lot like the menu of Buckshot Roulette, but the falling…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, I think of it as rather a good game to be honest, especially when the squad plays the one last game in their time of war before their enemy gets to them and eliminates them I would actually like to see the game with a group of soldiers are playing a game of goo or chess
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs Finally Played Their Cards Right The recent update has completely polished the game. It's so much better to play now, and I can definitely recommend it. Before the update, there were quite a few issues. The leaderboards didn't work, the game had performance problems, and the achievements were extremely grindy. All of that has changed now. Goodbye, old cheevos I was semi-determined to complete the original achievement list, with one of the grindiest achievements requiring you to win 500…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun little puzzle like game, steam guides definitely helped more than the tutorial. The random effects that occur after each turn that cause a replication of getting stunned are quite annoying after a bit and don't cause any effective impact on gameplay besides being a hinderance.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nothing groundbreaking here, just a solid little card game that does its job.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kind of repetitive after a while, but I kept playing anyway so that says something.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I suspect this game is basically a proof of concept; a way to test the waters to see if it might be worth it to continue development and/or create a full game with more features, or sell it to some other studio. Therefore, it doesn't have much to offer rather than a game of Durak with a buddy in a military bunker, while the same repeated sound pattern of bombings outside, plays on and on.. It's a game of Durak in an interesting environment. I also noticed that the stated developer have…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fine. It's a good adaptation of the card game and it's being sold for a reasonable price, but don't go in expecting a huge experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brings back memories when a few russians I befriended taught me this game but they called it "The Fool" and it's still one of my favourites to play till this day, would be dope if they had the other variant of the game which would be the reverse version haha love tripping people up on that one
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ll admit, I had no idea what I was doing when I first launched Deckline. I found the game because of an online article. But once the mechanics clicked, I was completely hooked. The game play to me is the perfect casual card game to unwind with after work. Whether you’ve got five minutes or an hour, it’s easy to lose track of time in the best way. Worth every penny I paid. The atmosphere, the sounds. It all comes together beautifully. If you enjoy card games or just want something chill to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the idea of the game, even though it took a while to understand the rules on how to play (at least I think I understood it). It would be nice if it was added a few more feature to the games, like time limit to finish to make you feel the pressure of the situation. I also could not see the point of taking pills or using the lamp (it made no difference for me besides making the room darker). Overall it was an interesting and short experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good challenge and intense atmosphere worth the asking price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. It's one of those Buckshot Roulette type of games and I love it. As I already wrote on the discord server (that I also recommend joining), it would be great if there was a "throw the same numbered card back" action, to add more actions to the game. Overally a deserved 9/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun digital way to play a great card game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WOULD be fun if the ai was not so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rigged and if the game was not confusing. For the first hour i was just guessing but then, guess what i figured out. The ai is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rigged its always against you winning. Yeah its fun but its basic and the same ♥♥♥♥ over and over. nice little game for an hour. NOT worth the 100 percent dumbest ♥♥♥♥ ever.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nothing to write home about, basically a card game and nothing else. It's fun for a few matches, but there is nothing here to make me come back. No story, no progression, no roguelike mechanics, no interesting opponents, even the deck is the same. That being said, the atmosphere is nice and the card game is simple to learn, but complex enough to be engaging.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There’s not much to it, but sometimes that’s enough. Just play a few rounds and chill.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like a chill “pass time” kind of game. Not something deep, but good for short sessions.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s basically a card game with a small twist, nothing crazy, but I still found myself playing longer than I expected.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the atmosphere is kinda weird in a good way. Feels a bit empty but that’s part of the vibe.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel very mixed about this. I love gambling games alright, in my past life I was clearly a gambler with a crippling addiction. I play ALOT. This game is very...meh. I really did struggle at first to understand what tf I was supposed to be doing. I understand it now for the most part so it definitely needs a proper guide that's accessible IN GAME. The best way I would describe this game is "I'm bored, I have nothing to play and need a quick five minute gambling fix". There isn't any replay…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short demo thing. The card game is enjoyable but it is too short to recommend it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deckline is a game that takes a deceptively simple premise and reshapes it into something unnervingly atmospheric, using the familiar structure of a card game as the anchor for a far more unsettling experience. Rather than dropping you into an elaborate battlefield or a narrative-heavy war story, the game confines you to a dimly lit bunker where a handful of soldiers, already worn down by conflict, sit together for what may be their final moments. The card table becomes a refuge, a flimsy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great atmosphere with rules that are thankfully well spelled out. Genuinely got scared playing this more than most horror games I've ever played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a small thing, but it's pretty well-crafted. I would have preferred slightly more of a point, but I appreciate that you can turn off the story and just enjoy the gameplay, which is pretty good for a very simple game. It helps that the atmosphere is really well done.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →thank you for taking me down memory lane felt great remembering how me and my grandmama used to play durak when i was little
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I personally like this game but it's a bit simplistic and lacks the atmosphere that was portrayed in the trailer. when you play you realize that they didn't put many animations in it at all and despite there being multiple endings i have won 3 times in a row without actually knowing how the card game works as it doesn't seem to be important, however winning gives the same ending every time. overall i think it's a nice idea and experience but it needs more work to be taken seriously. i say that…
