Deponia: The Complete Journey
Developer Daedalic Entertainment
Junk, junk and even more junk. Life on the trash-planet Deponia is anything but a walk in the park. No surprise that Rufus had enough of that and hatches one ludicrous plan after the other to escape this bleak place. From the Steam store page

What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 186 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (5,788 of 6,875 positive).
Players praise the game's humor, charm, and imaginative world. [1][2][3] Many reviewers report game-breaking bugs that block progress. [4][5][6] Some players recommend the original separate games instead. [7][8]

Unfortunatelly there is at least one game breaking bug around 10% of the game progress (during the first game in the series). Yes, it is the "pigeons puzzle" that is broken and discussed on various platforms. And the only fix is to download saved position after this part from developer´s website. That I haven´t tested, because I do not feel this as correct approach from the developer. I can accept the fact that the …

Not Recommended I really wanted to enjoy this game, but there’s a critical bug that completely blocks progression, and it’s still not fixed after more than a year. The issue appears during a mandatory mini-game and makes it impossible to continue the story. Dozens of players have reported it, yet the developers haven’t provided a working patch or workaround. I can’t recommend a game that leaves you stuck with no way …

A must play for point and click adventure fans! This is a truly unique experience that has aged remarkably well. The characters are memorable, the voice acting is strong, and the world is imaginative and full of variety. The puzzles are often innovative, creative, and thoughtfully designed, frequently encouraging out of the box thinking. The game also does a good job of providing fair hints to gently guide the …

The humor in this game is so dark, no high-energy flashlight in the world could brighten it up even a little. So if you enjoy your humor as black as your coffee and have the smallest interest in point'n'click adventures, get this game right here and now. In this game, no once stays unharmed and every cliché is strained to the max. And more than once you're gonna think "He didn't really think/say/do this, did he …

Cheesy, crass, and bursting at the seams with charm. Sure, the protagonist is a sociopath, the story's a bit of a mess, and the humor's very...for lack of a better term, "German," but there's enough here for me to say that this is probably the Monkey Island-equivalent for Europe.
Summarised from 34 of the 299 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 9, 2026. How summaries are made
54% of the 186 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Deponia: The Complete Journey. The complaint that keeps coming up: game-breaking bugs block progress in multiple places. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

neutral · AI labelView post →There are a bunch of jokes in this game that I absolutely am not okay with. Yeah, the whole point of the game is the main character being a horrible asshole. But then, the game for example makes jokes about a black woman ending up a slave. She ends up as a slave not because the main character is being thoughtless. Yes, his actions affect the result, but it's a pure coincidence he could not have reasonably predicted. The joke boils down to "look, we dare to be *this* inappropriate."…

neutral · AI labelView post →It really still has game breaking bugs, after 11 years, like, what the f*. And the developers response "was" back then and still is now to download a save file to get past that point, loosing your own save and progress.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the original Deponia games years ago now, and recently decided to replay the series through this. In theory, it’s great, but as it stands right now, I don’t think this version is worth buying or playing. This game is over 10 years old, and is currently being sold for £25.99. That might seem pretty decent for three great point & click games, but given that this complete package version is riddled with bugs and seems all but abandoned, it’s worth reconsidering. I went into this blind,…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This edition of Deponia series is so infested in bugs that it is literally unplayable. I was stuck in the first chapter of the first game in two different spots (for the knowledgeable: the explosion puzzle and the pidgeon puzzle) and decided I do not want to risk getting softlocked later in the game. I have also noticed that the developers were refusing to fix these bugs even back in 2017, which is, frankly, unacceptable. Another thing: the newly added Hint system is both useless (does not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is WAY too buggy, play the three games individually, they're bugfree for example to select an item in my inventory i need to click like 10 times till it selects that. The most famous softlock is probably the magnet puzzle, if you dont complete it first try the magnet just.. aren't there anymore. oh and for some of the other reviews: this game contains the first 3 parts, deponia doomsday is NOT includet
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I like the idea of a complete edition, this version is far too buggy and glitchy to recommend. I tried to play the game (with Proton on Linux) and encountered these glitches: - with Texture Compression on: The backgrounds of the scenes don't really work - with high Framerates: clicking on inventory items doesn't register half the time (144FPS). Limiting FPS helps somewhat. - The first minigame, where you have to adjust a targeting thingy onto some tracks, is glitched: The target is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Someday I have to replay the trilogy. All four parts. The games are great - though there are two things that urk me. For one, the player character, Rufus, is just unbearable. The other point of critique is the depiction and role of Goal, who, in the first game, is basically the personified damsel-in-distress trope. In the other parts she gets a bit of agency, but she is still frequently portrayed as the victim who needs help. Mostly the victim of Rufus' carelessness and lack of empathy, by the…

neutral · AI labelView post →The world and art style are charming, but I couldn't get invested in the rest. The humor didn't land for me, many puzzles relied on frustrating logic, and the protagonist was difficult to like. It has its fans, but I found it more irritating than entertaining.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even in 2026 it's still buggy as it was on 2021 by reports of same issues including graphical bugs, minigames broken and promises to update to fix them 5 years ago still not done at all. Very disappointed due to the fact I love the story and context of the game and characters from what I have played up too in it, specially it also being a point & click game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely do not buy not even for the $3 sale price. There is a game stopping bug with no fix after 10 YEARS. The save files they published to get around it do not match the current game version and are unusable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surely this one is Rufus from the Deponia games?
neutral · AI labelView post →You might have seen the other "not recommended" reviews here and I'm joining them in saying that this is NOT the version of the game you should get. Even though you'd expect a "Complete Journey" edition to be the final version of a game, one that includes everything and is the most up to date, it's NOT. This game was not updated unlike the original stand-alone version for some reason, which DID get updated. This edition has visual glitches, ranging from characters disappearing/blinking, to…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Murabaa is definitely inspired by Rufus from Deponia, the point and click game. Who is acclaimed as one of the WORST protagonists in personality by a few game reviews... but I personally liked him. I stuck through all four games and rather liked him. (1/5🧵) #AwesomeCharacters
positive · AI labelView post →This is rather good point and click adventure game. It has some "moon logic" but overall, not that bad. Why can't I recommend this? It has so many bugs, some game breaking.. fortunately, at least the mini puzzle games have a SKIP button so you can actually progress. We encountered at least 3 puzzle games that just didn't do anything. You couldn't see the pieces you are supposed to move or the game was simply stuck. Also, you should remember to save the game to different slots every now and then…

This collection is a must play for fans of classic point and click adventures, offering a vibrant, absurd, and often surprisingly emotional story across three games. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a great game, but it has a lot of bugs, and without searching in the internet for solutions (for the bugs), it's easy to find it impossible to finish.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't really recommend this game. First of all, there's a bug they never fixed, which is that inventory items fail to be clicked on most of the time, sometimes you have to click multiple times to actually select them, this is fixable on windows by locking fps to 60 but on macos, it's not possible to fix, at most you can lock screen refresh rate to 60hz in macos settings but it won't fully fix the problem, maybe make it slightly less bothersome. It's half gamebreaking in a point and click…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this build due to a large number of bugs. It's passable, but requires various workarounds, which hinders full immersion. It's better to buy each part separately.

negative · AI labelView post →Very buggy game, several minigames dont work at all, and need to be skipped via loading of a seperate safe file from the developers, and constant visual artifacts, e.g. A duplicate rufus getting left behind after an action.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Take a look at point-and-click adventure games. Deponia is a good example of this.
neutral · AI labelView post →The games themselves are very fun graphic adventures, but I honestly can't recommend buying this. In the original first two games, there was Spanish dubbing (the 3rd one, Chaos in Deponia, didn't. But it still had subs). In this version all 3 games no longer have said dubbing/subs. Okay, no big deal, I can still play in English. But then you encounter several game breaking bugs along the way. Puzzles that become unresponsive or that you can't even interact with. And there's nothing you…
