Players praise Chaos on Deponia as an improvement over the first game, with better writing, humor, and puzzles. [1][2][3] Some reviewers find the puzzles frustratingly obscure, requiring guides or trial-and-error. [4][5][6] A few players dislike the protagonist Rufus, finding him insufferable and poorly developed. [7]

4.5/10 *This review is for the English version of Chaos on Deponia This game is a mixed bag of great, good, annoying, bad, very bad, etc. There are bugs in the game that make it hard to get achievements to register, and there is a bug that causes Left-Clicking on inventory items to work only some of the time. So, you may have to click multiple times to select inventory items. Lowering the Refresh Rate, and Frame …

Deponia 2 (or Chaos On Deponia) is in every way an improvement to the original Deponia. The sequel was made by German developer "Daedalic Entertainment" in the same year, making the story feel like one whole. In this game, I feel like they improved on everything, be it animations, cinematics, the writing and even the jokes! The art and music are as usual great. The 1st act plays on the Floating Black Market and is …

Chaos on Deponia feels like returning to a junkyard you can’t help but love. Rufus is still a walking disaster with the survival instincts of a cartoon coyote, the humor is delightfully unhinged and the puzzles swing between clever and "google it". It’s a charmingly messy sequel that doubles down on everything Deponia, snappy jokes, trash‑heap charm and enough chaos to justify the title. Not perfect, but definitely …

Continuation of one of the best Point & Click very beautiful drawing and interesting plot.

This is what I wish the first Deponia was. Protagonist has his explosive quirks without being obnoxious, puzzles mostly make sense and jokes are actually quite funny.

Critics, per Wikipedia
Chaos on Deponia received "mixed or average" and "generally favorable" reviews, according to review aggregator Metacritic. Chaos on Deponia and its predecessor, Deponia, totaled 200,000 global sales by April 2013. The Deponia series overall achieved sales of 2.2 million copies by 2016, most of which derived from deep-discount sales, according to Daedalic's Carsten Fichtelmann. He noted that "full price sales were a little part of that [2.2 million] number".

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rufus is so insufferable that I quit playing. He learns nothing from his adventure in the first game and instead of growing as a person he gets worse. I stopped playing to read about his character online, and it appears he never gets better in the entire series. I like everything else about this game/series that I've seen so far, but I just hate Rufus so much that I don't want to see him succeed in his goals. I was able to make it through the first game, but after seeing no growth in the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chaos on Deponia is the second installment in the Deponia trilogy, and it takes everything the first game introduced like quirky humor, creative puzzles, and a wildly imaginative world, and cranks it up a notch. While Deponia laid the groundwork for the series, Chaos on Deponia expands and refines the formula in almost every way, offering a richer experience in terms of gameplay, narrative, and emotional investment. The plot picks up shortly after the events of the first game and the central…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First playthrough review time. The sequel looks like the first game, but the tasks might be hard. The drawings use more colors now, and you can see things moving in the background, which makes the world look more active. The voices and music are still good, but the puzzles might be difficult. Sometimes you have to change the game settings or do things that do not make any sense to move forward. This makes the game go slowly when the solutions are not easy to find. The story continues where…

neutral · AI labelView post →Despite the numerous issues in getting Chaos on Deponia to run, I still had an enjoyable time playing this humorous and artistic game. The dialogue and interactions made the game experience well worth the trouble. I ended up using a friend's save game files to bypass a couple of problem areas, though it did do funky things with the achievements. If you do not have a friend who has these files, I have found a couple of sites that do list such to bypass the more problematic areas. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Compared to the first game in the series these puzzles are more confusing for me then the first game. The story is still funny and chaotic, but for my taste a little to chaotic and hard to figure out. I personally enjoyed the first game more.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredibly bad. No action in the first 40 minutes made any sense at all. You interact with the stuff you can interact with and see some weird things happen that you could never have predicted or wanting to do. Why does picking up a stick you just threw away turn on a lamp? Poking a stick into a socket turns it into a highly charged electrical weapon? Why do you need to put a towel into the garbage disposal unit in the sink instead of just making it wet in the full sink, if you want a wet…

I enjoyed the trilogy several times now, but there’s only one that can be the best, and it’s the only one in my top 100. (1/13)
positive · AI labelView post →In order to progress the game forces you to send a little bird into a garbage disposal unit and also to kill baby dolphins. Apparently the bright writers figured it would be a stroke of pure peerless comedic genius to put these "jokes" into the game. Because it's REAL "FUNNY", you know.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chaos on Deponia is a great game. Developed by Daedalic when they made quality games versus the junk like Gollum.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chaos on Deponia has frustrating puzzles that can feel too obscure and tedious. The humor may not be for everyone, and the story can drag on. The gameplay is often repetitive, making it less enjoyable for those not into point-and-click games. if you want it buy it on discount , its not worth the full price!!!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun point-and-click adventure with a lot of crazy humor and weird characters. Rufus is such a ridiculous character that I couldn’t help but laugh at some of the situations he gets himself into. The hand-drawn art style looks great and fits the game perfectly. The puzzles are pretty fun, although a few of them can be really strange and make you think outside the box 😄. I also really liked the soundtrack and the overall atmosphere. Definitely worth playing if you enjoy classic adventure…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First and foremost, this game series up until the moment of this review is so good that from the moment I played the first game, I couldn't wait to continue playing the rest of the series. What really makes this game addictive (in the best possible way) is its innovative mechanics, especially the item collection system, inventory management, and item mixing. These mechanics open up so many possibilities, constantly making you think about which items you can combine to progress through the…

negative · AI labelView post →I'm going to be starting the second game in the Deponia series, Chaos on Deponia, tonight on Twitch. The first game made me very annoyed with the main character, Rufus, and I hope that he is significantly less cringe in the following games. Any thoughts on the series?
negative · AI labelView post →I found this game too difficult without a guide. All minigames can be skipped (I skipped a couple for either being bugged or too difficult or time-consuming). The humour is not to my personal taste but could be for others. The main area you start in (Floating Black Market) has dozens upon dozens of items that are meant to connect in some way or applied to certain places, but nothing jumps out at me, even when the answer is "obvious" or I look at a guide. Even if it *looks* obvious, the answer…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Idk, I liked the first part in this series much better but this one just really dragged on and on. Especially the pacing of the story, I felt bored often times because it was just too predictable. I do like most of the humour, but especially in this part you can really feel how dated this game is. I feel like I would have enjoyed this game when it was released but I just don't this time. This part feels really shallow. Usually, I enjoy the puzzles, but these were just so boring. Often times the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really wanted to love this game as I am a big fan of Daedalic but it's impossible when the main character is one of the most insufferable, obnoxious, annoying idiots you've ever played as.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the good: the dialogue, the humor, characters, art design the bad: bad "puzzles" that require you to pretty much follow an online guide to know EXACTLY where to go, WHOM to talk to or WHAT to do. the ugly: constant clicking on random things hoping for things to work out in your favor in some manner, and sometimes they actually do, because the "puzzles" mostly involve completely random non-related things that come together for no reasons beside lazy contrived game design, but mostly don't work…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Again…don’t bother even trying to play this game without a guide. I like the story but it’s a miserable experience trying to understand what to do since lots of solutions make no sense.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game, I bought a series of games from this developer at a big discount.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thumbs down because Deponia: The Complete Journey exists. So this version is obscure and only good for as +1 game. https://store.steampowered.com/app/292910/Deponia_The_Complete_Journey/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a good game, but I'd recommend sticking to the complete journey. Unlike the first installment, there is no unique gameplay here that the complete edition doesn't also have. It's only worth it if you like some of the steam specific side-stuff - i.e. badges, point shop items, achievements.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →34/34 achievements. It seems they've learned somewhat of the last game. The game is much less linear than the first one, going with the Monkey Island philosophy (give players multiple things to work towards, so when they get stuck they can work on something else). I'd dare say the first part is a bit too big though, with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of items (there's an achievement when you carry 26). Talking about achievements, the “do something x times” one are showing up. Destroy the gondolier's boat 10…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Deponia games are an okay point and click franchise, this one has problems, and it just clicked for me that they literally called Rufus' romantic desire "Goal". Yikes.

neutral · AI labelView post →A few try-every-item-on-every-other-interactable type of puzzles, and drops in quality in a few parts (especially the cutscenes), but overall it is a classic point-and-click adventure experience. Don't go into it expecting much.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chaos on Deponia - Same as Deponia 1 but less annoying protagonist I struggled to write a positive review for this game, not because its bad, but because its just more of the same you saw in the first game, so if you liked Deponia 1, you'll get a kick out of this one, but if you didnt like Deponia 1, you likely won't change your mind too much Gameplay vise , Chaos on Deponia is a sidegrade, as in there are positives, and negatives. On the positive side, you have slightly more intuitive…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The overall impression is slightly spoiled by some completely illogical puzzles that are practically impossible to figure out without a guide, but fortunately there aren't many of them, so the aftertaste remains rather positive.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, this is nothing like original Deponia. The puzzles that don't make sense, bugged puzzles. I am already 30 minutes in, but I already get these non-logical puzzles. Using stick on Clever-Byte does nothing, makes you go into a loop that makes you throw and pick the stick up yourself everytime. You could say Deponia always had these confusing and unintuitive puzzles, but at least in original Deponia it was bearable, it was the first game and we were somehow forgiving all the bad…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chaos on Deponia, developed and published by Daedalic Entertainment, is the second entry in the Deponia adventure series and continues the story of the self-absorbed and often reckless protagonist, Rufus. Released in 2012, the game expands upon the foundation set by the first title, offering a richly detailed point-and-click adventure full of humor, absurd situations, and inventive puzzle-solving. It combines a satirical narrative with challenging gameplay, appealing to fans of both classic and…

Sadly Goodbye Deponia (Part 3) is delisted on the PS store so had to watch a walkthrough. Often on sale for about a quid each ⭐️⭐️⭐️
positive · AI labelView post →I finished the second Deponia game "Chaos on Deponia" and there was a hefty dose of moon logic and puzzles that really just tried too hard to be unique and/or funny. Rufus is an awful character again, but the story is interesting, and I want to see where it goes.

neutral · AI labelView post →Great game and i didn't encounter any gamebreaking bugs so it's better than the 1st one! Story, graphics, characters and dialogues are great but the game lacks hint system or something. The puzzles can be weird and if you get stuck at some point it's really hard to find a solution and progress (or maybe i'm just bad or dumb or both idk). Nevertheless I had a lot of fun going through this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was better than the first Deponia, it is a good game for children, harmless I guess. During the game play I had difficulty in finding solution, so, Even though I didn't want to use walk-through , unfortunately I used at that point. I encountered couple of good jokes. Achievements were easy except one or two. I have purchased it on sale. I recommend you to buy it on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't recommend these games enough. I've been playing point and click adventure games since the 80s and daedelic is one of the most underappreciated developers in the genre. I've played the harry edna series, whispered world, and a few others, A new beginning was a bit preachy but they were all solid games. If youre into the genere like I am, these are a no brainer. and they are often on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun German point and click. Well made and humorous (especially in the German synchronization), yet suffers from the same problems of others in the Genre that some solutions to puzzles can be a bit abstract or relying on you to notice a small smudge/crack on a glass in one of the many areas. However, thankfully this is not the problem for a majority of the puzzles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic point and click adventure following up on its predecessor Deponia, which lets you traverse even more sites of the eponymous planet consisting almost entirely of junk, meet an even more diverse cast of characters and continue the planet’s story. Just like the first game, Chaos on Deponia follows the egocentric Rufus, as he stumbles into the task of saving the planet he never really liked in the first place. It’s still just as funny as its predecessor, often featuring dark comedy and…
