Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 51 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (77 of 106 positive).
Players praise the game's unique blend of Hades and Vampire Survivors with a heavy metal theme. [1][2][3] Many note the game lacks content, feeling incomplete or like a vertical slice. [4][5][6] Some players report bugs, such as a music bug that prevents attacking. [7][2]

TLDR; Charming Survivors-like/Hades clone with a lot of good ideas, but most of them fall short. Needs work before being worth your time. Looking at Devil Jam, all the ingredients are there. Hades-style upgrades, interesting story about a band selling their souls to the Devil, unique gameplay, great designs on the Sins (they give you your upgrades), and lots to do with the challenges. But, you can use all the best …

Reviews on a game release always help. Obviously haven't had enough time for it, but this game is oozing with charm. Something another game tried to do was emulate Hades, but didn't get the vibe right. The game gets the vibe right, although the lines do get repetitive quickly. A summary for this game would be a mix between Hades and Vampire Survivors based off music. Instead of 6 weapons and 6 passives, you have a …

This game came as a pleasant surprise. A mix between Hades and vampire survivors, two of my favourite games. The visuals and voice acting are on point. Mechanics can be a bit unbalanced, with some slight bugs (eg. suddenly losing a bunch of power on buffs after acquiring a devils deal). However for the price it's a great time filler and quite fun. I hope it continues to get updated and further improves over time.

Fun Survivors game. Feels like a mix of Vampire Survivors with some Hades mixed in built on a music theme.

So far, I've unlocked three playable characters, new difficulty modes, and defeated the final boss. The foundation is solid, but the game needs more content. Such as new maps, additional soundtracks, and more playable characters. Still, it was a fun time.

Your weapon is your music, so just aim in the direction of enemies and fire away. Attacking is completely automatic, so you just need to move and aim (there is an option to auto-aim in the menus if you choose to go in that direction). At the 10 and 20 minute marks, a mini-boss will spawn. Three possible mini-bosses can be fought, and…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, But Feels Incomplete I’m enjoying the game enough to stick around for a few hours, and I’ll probably keep playing. But the lack of a story really stands out. You have a band that literally made a deal with the Devil, and there’s barely any narrative or lore behind it. That’s a massive missed opportunity. The premise practically writes itself. If the developers ever add more narrative, lore, and meaningful progression, this could become a much more engaging game. The Good If you enjoy…

Just more polish and content, this game can be one of the best bullet heaven games out there. Also we need steam trading cards and point shop items since this game has great art.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun and flawed which is exactly what you'd expect from its pricepoint. Definitely recommend picking it up if you enjoy survivor-likes. There isn't enough content or meaningful variety (builds, enemies, maps) to put in hundreds of hours here, but there's plenty to enjoy for a while. Nicely animated, fully-voiced characters, good music, and a fun energy from start to finish. Runs are relatively short at 20 minutes or so. If the developer gives a bit more player agency when it…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →played the game a few times, really like the concept and style, but sadly ended up having to get a refund, kept getting a recurring bug where there was no music and therefore characters couldn't attacks / defend themselves, making progress and playing impossible. restarting and debug didn't work, only option was to reinstall the game each time the issue happened. if there a fix i might get it again. hopefully if you get the game this doesnt happen to you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Today I Played - Devil Jam Something I love about Hades is that even when a game isn't directly related to the Hades playstyle, this case more of a V-survivor like, Hades has made a lot of indies up their game by adding voice acting, this blends both well enough. #indiegames s.team/a/3461800
positive · AI labelView post →I've loved this game since the playtest and demo! The gameplay is great, powerups and upgrades are fulfilling, and the soundtrack is killer! (I'm pretty sure I'm playing this game mostly for the riffs!)

neutral · AI labelView post →Whole thing rocks! Music is a headbanger, art is incredible and very varied with enemy, Devil, and Sin designs, and the VAs add so much personality and menace. You can really tell the devs are bonafide rock fans, as all of them are based on someone you have DEFINITELY seen at a concert or takes a role in the music industry. So much of the background art, animation, and character work is so great. Everything oozes with the life and the charm of an authentic rockstar or the sleazy corpos that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The overall atmosphere is a plus. But everything else is bad. Monotonous, boring, unfair, and the grid system is crap. Even though I'm a fan of survivors-like games, I don't recommend this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In today's Indie Game Spotlight, we have Devil Jam! Devil Jam is a game similar to Vampire Survivors, but it has a unique heavy metal twist that works well for the game. neutral · AI labelView post →The vibe (survivors game with Hades aesthetic and great rock music) along with a unique build system really appealed to me, and the main gameplay loop is fun for the first maybe 45 minutes... until you realize any power progression is PAINFULLY slow, because they give you no real clues on how you might organize a build. So you go to the forums, and of course some people give some guides on what you probably want to do, but I've never had to do that in a survivors game before. So 2 hours in, I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am really enjoying the game so far. It is fun and exciting, has good music and awesome artwork. It offers many hours of entertainment for a fair price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →feels like a rip off of hades mixed with vampire survivors without the charm of either. I double checked to make sure this wasn't some sort of early access thing and to my dismay it's the finished product.

negative · AI labelView post →I fell in love at first sight and i bought it right after it came out but it just... pissed me off? The game itself felt a bit dull and i couldn't even play the character i wanted, i know in these games you have to unlock them but usually it's not hard to do or unfun, you know?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After I realize I upgrade everything and the first round still feel like ♥♥♥♥, I delete and refund the game, the dev is immersed in their own delusion and make the game progress like constipation. There are a ton of rogue shooting game, and they decide to make everything wrong and deliver experience so bad to a degree I may call it unforgivable. Overall, I was attracted by the gorgeous graphic and character design at the beginning, but after several bite, I found it is rotten inside....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hell of a good time!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you enjoy roguelike games and vampire survivors this is a decent game to pick up especially for the cost. Graphics are great, voice overs are a nice touch, music is entertaining, and the cross connect ability system is pretty neat. There is only one level and a few bosses but it has potential.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game! A very stylish hybrid of Hades-esque graphics and atmosphere with vampire survivors type of gameplay. Even though it's not the longest game ever, I think the quality of the game and the surprisingly low price heavily outweigh the fact that it's not TOO in depth. I also enjoy the idea of the grid with the beat system even if I don't fully understand it, it's a very unique idea for a very unique game. Seriously, this game is oozing with charm. You can tell the studio behind it…

positive · AI labelView post →2 hours in so far and heres what i can say, if you like Bullet Heaven games but want something with a fresh spin on it, this is your game. completely flips the genre on its head in terms of synergys due to its main mechanic of slotting in abilities on a board. its absolutely challenging so far, i can see how they can build on the game more and more, the atmosphere and gameplay feels great, along with the voice acting. theres definitely some things id like to see changed, some QOL stuff like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devil jam brings such a welcome creative spin to how you make your build in a survivor roguelike style game. Placing your abilities on the fretboard in different patterns scratches so many itches, and the music makes you fall so deeply into the game. Great stuff

neutral · AI labelView post →I like the Hades-esque style and the attacks based on the Deadly Sins. The art style is great. I wish there was a bit more variety to each run. I'm currently getting really annoyed by a bug though. At the end of each run when you're returned to the Devil. I always check my quests to see if I've completed anything. Then you're supposed to Esc out. However, this instead always just opens the Pause menu overlaid over the quest menu and then seems to freeze the game? Can this be fixed please. Sick…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A combination of Hades x Vampire Survivors is a great idea, but this game is lackluster in its current state. I think it has a lot of potential and I like the ability grid which is pretty unique, but the game currently feels too mediocre/basic with its meta-progression which is the most important part of a roguelike. I might come back to this in the future after a lot of updates.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A delightful action-survival roguelite a la Death Must Die or Halls of Torment with a musical and devilish theme. Good stuff! The way you build has a bit of a learning curve, but it also gives the game some uniqueness, depth, and a heck of a lot of build variety. I wish there were a few more music tracks, but this is a real hidden gem within its niche.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a way to go with balancing and finding a way to make it enjoyable. Upgrades do not feel like an upgrade. Meh.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devil Jam, developed and published by Rogueside, is a fiery, rhythm-fueled roguelite that takes the chaos of a metal concert and fuses it with the structure of a “survivor-like” arena brawler. Set in a stylized version of Hell, the game throws players into the role of a doomed rocker who has struck a deal with the Devil and must now battle endless waves of demons while performing on the infernal stage. It’s an over-the-top premise that the game embraces wholeheartedly, turning the underworld…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like the game. It gives Hades inspired vibes but way smaller scaled. The issue is you hit a roadblock early and hard. I can make it to the first boss consistently but I simply don't have high enough DPS to do meaningful damage. I like planning out builds but I think re-arranging skills would be really fun unless I missed that. The waves also aren't different so you're always playing against the same enemies and it becomes repetitive because of that. I think Vampire Survivors also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It wants to be like Hades, but in a "survivors" style, instead of Greek gods we have the 7 Deadly Sins, and a lack of story. If they add story to this game is an easy recommend, even if it's a short one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not refunding because it was cheap, but the game is just boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super fun, I love the build variety and the three characters feel different from each other! Music is great, too. positive · AI labelView post →imo a quite underrated survivors-like game. I see some folks comparing it to Hades, but other than some surface-level similarities, I don't think that's really what this game is going for. It's a survivors-like through and through with the real fun showing through once you've meta-progressed to unlock the many sins (power sub-types) and in-run upgrade stations. The constant nods to metal music with song titles and metal adjacent things made me love it even more It starts to show its uniqueness…
