Critics, per Wikipedia
As of October 29, 2026, Digger has grossed $18 million in the United States and Canada, and $31 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $49 million. Due to its large production and marketing budget, Variety reported the film would need to gross $350 million in order to break even, although a Warner Bros. spokesman put the break-even figure at $300 million. Following the film's $20 million worldwide opening, it was estimated that the film would lose $150–250 million on its theatrical run, and even after taking into account projected future income from digital sales and streaming, profitability would take longer due to Cruise's first-dollar gross deal. negative · AI labelView post →Silly to treat Digger, of all movies, as the great test case. the last chance for audiences to prove that they will embrace an original movie not based on existing IP. I guess Sinners and Weapons and Marty Supreme and Obsession never happened. It's fine for a movie to be a divisive flop. It happens!
neutral · AI labelView post →"It used to be that an unpopular movie was released, and then maybe a decade later it was celebrated as a cult classic. That is happening with "Digger" during its initial release cycle and frankly I don't care for it."
negative · AI labelView post →In today's installment of the most tin-eared awards campaign of the year so far, Tom Cruise basically DOGE-brags about how he made the make-up people on Digger work faster because he's an efficiency expert. www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...
neutral · AI labelView post →Many of you are long-playing an attempt to get me to see Digger. That’s an Iñàrritu movie. I’ve played this game. I can try and put a duvet cover on by myself if I want to be irritated, and it won’t cost me a thing.
negative · AI labelView post →‘DIGGER’ debuts with 41% on Rotten Tomatoes. Tom Cruise's lowest rated film in a decade. Read our review: bit.ly/DiggerDF
neutral · AI labelView post →"Digger": A movie that hates itself, but doesn't hate itself enough. 3/5
neutral · AI labelView post →pretty much everybody I have spoken to in real life thought DIGGER was a film along the same lines as DON'T LOOK UP rather than a brutal satire of that kind of film and so had no intention of seeing it. film blew its marketing hard but I suspect will look good in long run.
neutral · AI labelView post →How dare any of you quibble about the film for which Tom Cruise had to repeatedly “Digger up” and “Digger down.”
positive · AI labelView post →Day 23 of Octobeni! Today's Kobeni is based on the poster for Digger, my favorite film of the year #Octobeni #SantanaelArt #ChainsawMan #Kobeni #Digger
positive · AI labelView post →have managed to go through multiple days of Digger discourse on the timeline without ever having the slightest idea of what the movie is about, which has been very entertaining (do not tell me in the replies and ruin my bit)
neutral · AI labelView post →Digger geniunely interesting movie. Kind of movie that sort of breaks that good/bad framework: I wouldn't call it good, but it is interesting. it sort of makes me miss having a monoculture because it would be interesting to hear everyone's takes on it.
neutral · AI labelView post →‘DIGGER’ is now tracking to potentially be the biggest Hollywood box office bomb of 2026 with a $12M opening weekend. The film's budget reportedly ballooned to $160M-$180M during production. (Source: variety.com/2026/film/bo...)
neutral · AI labelView post →As someone who is mostly pro-Digger, the idea that people who don't like it are film illiterates or something is very strange to me. That movie makes many deliberate choices you will either find intriguing or excruciating, and the second you tip over into "excruciating," it's not getting you back.
neutral · AI labelView post →We decided to hold my Digger review until after the first wave of critical responses had gone up, so I would be free to "spoil" the early twist that basically sets up the film's premise. Rarely has such an unpleasant movie to sit through been such a blast to write about: slate.com/culture/2026...
positive · AI labelView post →First trailer for Alejandro G. Iñárritu's ‘DIGGER’, starring Tom Cruise, is rated & ready for release. The film follows the most powerful CEO in the world who is ordered to save the world from a catastrophe that he created.
neutral · AI labelView post →First poster for Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Tom Cruise’s new film ‘DIGGER’ The comedy follows the most powerful man in the world, who tries to prove he is humanity’s savior before his own disaster destroys everything In theaters on October 2, 2026.
neutral · AI labelView post →I'm having a hard time selling my screenplay, I PLAY DIGGER. It's the heartwarming, true-life story about how Tom Cruise came to play the character Digger in the movie Digger. I guess people just don't understand it.
neutral · AI labelView post →In this Indiana diner, Digger still means Phelps. But they do know this: the latest Tom Cruise movie was an airball at the box office.
neutral · AI labelView post →gay person: I'm gay autistic person: I'm autistic that one gay, and autistic friend: I’m Tom Cruise and I hope you’ll go see my new film DIGGER in theaters now
neutral · AI labelView post →All the kids are going crazy for Digger. They are dressing up as their favorite character Digger from the movie Digger when they go to screenings of Digger and yelling along to all his classic lines like "I'm Digger" and "Let's get digging". It's a genuine phenomenon.
positive · AI labelView post →Now having seen Digger I find the bad and ambivalent reviews utterly depressing. It's so good it's like a 2025 movie, a year of great, weird films. I wonder if the response is like that to Don't Look Up--which was funny and smart and very good. Digger is Brazil to Don't Look Up's Dr Strangelove.
positive · AI labelView post →Digger spoiler: I know people are being weird and cryptic about the plot but what they’re talking around is SPOILER The film ends with Tom Cruise addressing the audience, asking them to not reveal that it is a musical
neutral · AI labelView post →Digger… good movie, worth seeing.
positive · AI labelView post →Did you know? Bluesky is the no. 1 app for fans of Digger! All 100 people that watched the movie are here! #DiggerNation
neutral · AI labelView post →my @liberalcurrents.com debut is about why DIGGER is anti-populist, and why that is part of the reason some people hate it. but the movie is great, and those people are wrong! read this to find out why.
positive · AI labelView post →Excited to become the 11th person to ever see the $300M movie Digger
positive · AI labelView post →Were the critics who buried Digger moved by the fossil fuels industry, which detests the film? There's plenty of evidence to suggest that. It shows how US media is increasingly captive to corporate interests. www.the-independent.com/arts-enterta...
neutral · AI labelView post →Years ago I remember seeing a tweet with this specific screenshot that said “you know the movie gonna be good when this mf shows up” I can’t find the post anymore but I specifically thought about it during DIGGER and laughed in the theater. That post was absolutely ironclad. Jesse Plemons rules
positive · AI labelView post →I wouldn't go so far as to say Digger is a masterpiece, but I was surprised how much I loved it. It has enormous, glaring problems, but the film bakes its lack of subtext into the text in a way I couldn't help but admire. It also gains _something_ from being the final Warner Bros. film pre-Ellisons.
positive · AI labelView post →not only is Digger good but for his first movie post-M:I phase Tom Cruise took a role that in some ways feels like a direct critique of him and tore right into it. sorry but that’s goated
positive · AI labelView post →So I was not going to see DIGGER anyway because of the Cruise of it all but hearing it's one of those "even the concept is a spoiler" movies just assures me that I made the correct decision. Exactly one movie pulled off "don't reveal the beginning" and that movie was GAMBIT.
negative · AI labelView post →I'm not surprised Tom Cruise's "Digger" is getting roasted. The movie never looked good to me, and personally he's very challenging to like no matter who he plays. I have spoken.
negative · AI labelView post →I dunno that Digger will make my year-end top 10, but I've probably enjoyed thinking about it more than any other movie released this year so far. Every time I think I've decided how I feel about it, I find a different thing to think about.
neutral · AI labelView post →Just got out of a critic screening. In the multiplex lobby, 10 people in their late teens or early 20s were having a spirited conversation about the movie they just watched. Grinning, gesturing, arguing, agreeing. Love to see that! I ask what the movie was. It was DIGGER, which I'm seated for now.
positive · AI labelView post →BREAKING: A promotional 'DIGGER' OUYA controller will be released in stores to promote Tom Cruise's latest film. "How would we describe this? It's basically AWESOME." said an OUYA representative
neutral · AI labelView post →*at the Halloween party* Me: You don't recognize me? I'm Emma Rockwell. *long beat* Digger Rockwell's half-sister? *long beat* As memorably portrayed by Sandra Hüller in the film Digger? Other guest: Sandra Hüller's in-- Me: Yeah! She's in Digger! Try not to be so IGNORANT of the WORLD AROUND YOU.
neutral · AI labelView post →DIGGER might be my favorite movie of the year. I can’t believe there is anyone that would tell you to not go see that.
positive · AI labelView post →'Digger': Tom Cruise Movie Bombs at Box Office, Will Lose $150M.
neutral · AI labelView post →ADDITIONALLY PURSUANT TO THIS, "If you don't like Digger, you must only like superhero movies" is the weirdest strawman! Superhero films are no longer surefire successes! s2g, I'm going to get reverse polarized into hating this movie (This will not happen. I like being contrarian too much.)
positive · AI labelView post →Every Black woman I have spoken to about Digger and who has seen it is a fan, myself included. It’s also the case that the closest thing the film has to a hero is a Black woman. Anyway small number statistics but still, interesting to me.
positive · AI labelView post →Very funny that they’re doing this calculated “You need to support DIGGER to support original film!” push the same week the masses are flocking to YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING and the director’s cut of THE DEVILS.
neutral · AI labelView post →I just saw an ad for Digger that could be summed up as "American critics hate this film, non-American critics love it" and you know what, I'm sold
positive · AI labelView post →Digger will very likely be the last chance at a global commercial movie sounding the alarm and connecting people with the reality of global climate collapse... until the climate becomes so chaotic we can't make films anymore.
positive · AI labelView post →Watched Digger on Halloween. Good movie! I was also dressed up as Rock Howard but that's unrelated
positive · AI labelView post →I’m just going to make a last call on you needing to see Digger in theaters before it disappears. I can’t believe I’m cast as the guy begging you to see a Tom Cruise movie, but it’s really a work of art.
positive · AI labelView post →just saw Digger. this was an utterly fascinating movie. a movie with no positive vision of the future or even the now. it just lies to you. it doesn't even get off the ground. it's people arguing about nothing. it's heavy handed. it goes nowhere. it's the second best movie I've seen all year
positive · AI labelView post →I have zero interest in DIGGER the movie but I am very interested in DIGGER the awards campaign. Having an anti=critic ad locked and loaded is not the baller move they think it is. David Lynch pulled off his "2 thumbs down, 2 more great reasons to see THE LOST HIGHWAY" ad BUT
negative · AI labelView post →tom cruise let us make a DIGGER beatmap. the whole movie
neutral · AI labelView post →Digger is a very thought provoking film, it leaves you pondering serious questions like Why? And How?
neutral · AI labelView post →‘DIGGER’ is Tom Cruise's first non-franchise film in almost a decade, but does it manage to live up to expectations? Find out in our review… discussingfilm.net/2026/09/29/d...
neutral · AI labelView post →I might like it! But I also know I might need to not be watching the movie Digger after 10 minutes and I think I represent the silent majority.
neutral · AI labelView post →#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched -'Coyote vs Acme' (8/10 - Loved It, RIP Eric Bauza) -'Wildwood' (10/10 - 2ND BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!) -'Buddy' (7/10 - Really Liked It) -'Digger' (5/10 - It's a Mixed Bag, but I also kinda Enjoyed It)
neutral · AI labelView post →Bluesky also loves Michael Mann's sprawling LA crime epic, Heat. I'm in that camp. And Digger has a hive here, too, but they pitch the movie on its merits instead of telling you you're too stupid to understand it. I'm not in the Digger Hive though.
neutral · AI labelView post →Needed some time to sit with this, but yeah, Digger is a brilliant movie. A flawed diamond just short of a masterpiece--but we need those too, and I am nothing if not the patron saint of flawed gems (looking at you, Mass Effect: Andromeda, my beloved). But, as to more Digger thoughts...
positive · AI labelView post →If you care, here's my *****-star capsule review of DIGGER (2026), minus my postscript letterboxd.com/josiezone85/...
positive · AI labelView post →Pretty much all of the confusion as to Digger's response can be answered by the fact that Digger is a very good film that is entirely dependent on you having (a) watched Don't Look Up and (b) still caring in 2026 about Don't Look Up in some fashion.
positive · AI labelView post →imma b honest Digger sounds like the coolest movie ever
positive · AI labelView post →Look, see DIGGER! It's a piece of classical Greek theater. It will delight (ensadden) you. Then tickets to two showings of THE DEVILS for this weekend will cap off a good week. What one man can do, another can do! Say it! #LastFourWatched #LetterboxdFriday
