What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 124 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (226 of 318 positive).
Fans of Disciples: Liberation will enjoy this direct sequel, which improves on its predecessor. [1][2][3] Some players find the combat tedious and wish for an auto-battle feature. [4][5] Critics point to poor writing, weak voice acting, and a lack of atmosphere compared to earlier games. [6][7][8]

After playing through the 1st chapter... I'm left thoroughly disappointed, to the point where it's genuinely hard to believe that this work of mediocrity and utterly unnecessary steps back in terms of both gameplay and narrative is actually from the same devs that made Liberation. Where Liberation gave you the choice of having Avy follow either the Angel/Good, Demon/Evil or Nephilim/Neutral paths and her …

I wanted to put a positive review because I love lore and world of the original Disciples (I and II parts), as well as played all (including Liberation) games of the series, but, regrettably, morally couldn't - especially taking into account me being the franchise's fan from early 2000s. PROS: - atmosphere and visual style mostly coherent in its philosophy with the original games; - additional bits of lore and maps …

Please patch in an auto-battle! I've been playing the game for over 12 hours now and, of course, I've read quite a few reviews from other players. At first, after reading both the good and bad reviews, I thought, "Oh, I bet a lot of people are just complaining about the combat again." Unfortunately, after a few battles of my own, I have to say... I understand them now. After a few fights, I increasingly find myself …

Domination is a direct sequel to Disciples: Liberation. If you enjoyed Liberation's style of gameplay (which is more akin to King's Bounty), then you will enjoy Domination. If not, this most likely won't be the game for you. The Good: - a solid improvement from the previous game - sound effects are incredible - spells and abilities sound meaty and satisfying when using; even the sound of your horse galloping around …

I’ve put quite a few hours into the first one, and you can tell right away that this one is a step above. The gameplay is smoother, the combat is super satisfying, and it’s such a blast to finally have the Mountain Clans dwarves back. The progression system is much better designed—no more wasting time tearing down buildings just to swap units, which makes the whole experience way less frustrating. If you liked …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →King's Bounty II (2021) got a sequel, huh? This game has nothing in common with Disciples I-II. It's a generic fantasy turn-based strategy with no gothic artstyle, no memorable music or storyline. Instead we get bland graphics, forgettable music, unlikeable main character and long tedious fights with no auto-battle feature. If Disciples: Domination was released as a new, separate entity, a completely new IP, then I'd give it 5 maybe 6/10 cause there aren't many turn based games similar to KB, H…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay's just is so robotic. It's missing soul. Feels like AI just crafted a RPG. It's not bad, but not worth $45 bucks. Get it on sale. ---------------------------- After having played it to completion, It is a little better than initially thought; the battle mechanics are enjoyable with a good variety of abilities and skills to choose from. Still the game lacks that "IT factor" that would make it truly enjoyable. Gets stale fast and not sure I care much about Ayyanna or the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disciples: Domination is a flawed, by-the-numbers strategy RPG that shows some creativity with its units and certain boss mechanics, but lacks enough depth and variety to sustain the amount of fights it throws at you across its decently lengthy campaign. Its writing lacks a consistent tone, its world fails to grip you, while Avyanna only stands out as one of the most unconvincing protagonists to date, making Domination a functional but rather forgettable second entry in the series.…

Excellent tactical RPG that uses the Classic Disciples lore mixed with King's Bounty overworld and combat. The new Disciples games focus on Avyanna to create a focused story while you build your favorite team and main character skills. If you like the original King's Bounty games, enjoy dark fantasy RPG's or, enjoyed Liberation you will like this new release.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, thumbs down, no questions asked. Disciples Liberation was a really nice game (tormented by it's own issues but it was enjoyable). It was also a grand shift from the root of Disciples 2, but it could defended itself on its own. Now, I've been actually waiting for this game but very soon it turned out to be one of the biggest letdowns ever. Not only it feels like something a DLC for Liberation could do, it's actually worse while being similar to the game it's a sequel. So let's start with…

So far I have been stuck in dialog 3 times, after making a conversion choice and had to end the game process (escape / menu not working). I have also been stuck in the last turn of a round 4 or 5 times. Nothing happens, but the menu can be accessed. So I retry the battle, hoping the result will be different, but sooner or later (sometimes on the first round, sometimes on the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a disgusting CASH GRAB! The only new units are the Mountain Clan. Not only are the other Faction Units a complete cut and paste from Liberation, there are LESS than that game had! For 44.99 USD this is clearly an expansion DLC. I am returning it and you should be none the wiser and do it as well. I don't even have the patience to tell you about the atrocious story writing, I would say that it seems AI wrote it but that would be a slander towards AI. Sell this IP to someone who cares…

We just released into Early Access, so we'd love all the help we can get: reviews, shares, tagging creators who would like the game, etc. It's an adventure-strategy game like Disciples and HoMM with a narrative focus✨⚔️ store.steampowered.com/app/1704180/...
neutral · AI labelView post →I had to replay Liberation to make sure I was not missing anything. I really enjoyed Liberation but Dominations did not give that same enjoyment. The variety/ # of units is almost cut in half. Number of available companions cut in half. Avyanna is a sissy princess in this one from what she was in the prior game. Game is not as long for the same price tag. It is nowhere as dark and the main questline is mediocre. I did enjoy the combat still as I really enjoy these types of games. But overall…

neutral · AI labelView post →Really enjoying this, and I think probably more people should try it than are going to at the current rate of reviews. Seems like a lot of the negativity comes from 1) It's not Disciple II (sure, it isn't) and 2) general misunderstandings or impatience with the game. The writing's actually pretty good -- within the top 25% or so of games that get released these days. And the tactical depth of the combat is enough to be pretty interesting. Way, way better than you'd think from summarizing the…

First the positives: the gameplay is still pretty much the same, which is a good thing for me because i really enjoyed it. there is a new faction, new units, new abilites too. great. Now the negative: a little sad that there's no german voices aviable bc the first one had it and the english voices are very different for the characters established in the first game. but the BIG BAD is....the story. now this just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I do hate the binary recommend or don't recommend option, I would give this a recommend with a but if I could. There is primary reason I am going with no, is its too expensive. Its too expensive because its lazy. On sale for half price I would recommend the game. Let me expand on that, most of the units are the same, most of the spells are the same, most of the art is the same, most of the mechanics are the same. This is an expansion pack not a new game, a long expansion pack but that is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Back in 1999 Developer Strategy First released a new Game. DISCIPLES:SACRED LANDS (Later in 2001: DISCIPLES: SACRED LANDS - GOLD EDITION). The Game took place in the World of Nevendaar where 4 Races battle for dominance. Round Strategy and Management in the best Tradition of HEROES OF MIGHT AND MAGIC (HOMM), but also with a different Combat System. While HOMM was colourfull and typical "clear" Fantasy, DISCIPLES was Dark Fantasy. But Players loved it. In 2001 then DISCIPLES 2: DARK PROPHECY…

neutral · AI labelView post →I wanted to like this game but its worse than the previous one which was already bad. The story is skippable. there's nothing interesting happening. The game has technical issues like graphics bugging out or stalling during a strike. there is no skirmish mode, literally what disciples was built on and this and the last game dont have it. it makes zero sense to me to make the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥ decisions most of us hated in the last game. neutral · AI labelView post →First thing first: this game is not worth its asking price. It feels very cheaply made overall and the cut corners are extremely visible everywhere. The worst part is that all of the units returning from Liberation (which is the majority) are reusing their voicelines. It's particularly jarring when the Undead units keep blabbering about Mortis, whom you killed in the previous game (no spoiler, it's in the intro). The Daughter of Sin, a unit originally released as part of a low quality cash grab…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Intro Disciples: Domination is Kalypso’s latest release in its fantasy turn-based combat franchise. I was a fan of the original series, and Disciples II – I still have some of these games lovingly shelved in their little boxes, with original cover art, printed manuals and CD-cases within. This installment sees you in the role of Avyanna again, who for some reason, lost her mind and purpose, let the kingdom fall into disarray, and now, having woken up from her stupor, is trying to fix the mess…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →at the present time i would advise against buying this game. with more time to file off the edges, this might change. the core gameplay is fine, the fights are fun. but in between fights, the game throws dialogue at you and it's all terrible. the writing in this game is one tier above your average fanfiction, which is to say atrocious, and there SO MUCH OF IT! this game does not shut the ♥♥♥♥ up. and if you thought you could just spam click your way through it, think again - every now and then…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I ADORE how screenshots are just random bullshit 🤣 None of those in the game! Reminds me how to THIS day screenshots for Disciples 2 at Steam and GoG are early bullshit mock-ups.😏
negative · AI labelView post →This game seems to be a step back in every direction from Liberation. Runs terribly, significantly less units, the VA is horrendous, story seems like it was made by a toddler. Right when you start the game, you run into an old companion who won't let you pass into an area because a countess he works for said "no one can pass", even though you are legitimately the queen. Clearly it's trying to keep you out of a higher level area, but it's dumb and makes no sense. On top of that, I played through…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved liberation. But this game feels lazy, i don't see much actual choice (you just get all units of all factions for free basically), avy has no real different options (very straight forward path). Also the "reputation" feels lazy just do enough of these throne stuff thingies and you can just max all. And the chests and things that were great in liberation to come back too, just give random loot that's not really worth. The side quests add a bit of context but really not much, which also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing for a few hours, I can definitely say that the game is not worth €45. You only get one new faction compared to Part 2, which is really lazy. My main turnoff is the writing and the story. Oh boy, it's such a cringe fest! Avyanna is especially cringe-worthy. You can tell this garbage was written by some unfunny millennials. If you want to play it, wait until it drops below €20.

Everything in the game is a negative now. with how little effort was put into this game its honestly worth 20-30$. its utterly Repetitive too the point that combat is actually dreaded. the skills for avyana that made her so fun to play, her spells and stuff are so weak that she cant kill anyone unlike in liberation. the army around her is far more important then her. not to mention she is the only one able to be equipped. the…

neutral · AI labelView post →This is a sequel to Disciples Liberation, and it's a sequel that expects you to play the original. If you haven't played Liberation yet, play it instead. It's a decent but janky King's Bounty-style tactical RPG, and a better game. If you have played Liberation, this is a worthy enough continuation to that story. That said, it's not a good continuation. The writing suffers badly from Second Game In A Trilogy Syndrome, forbidden from paying anything off or even setting things up in a more…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First off I liked original Liberation game and how powerful Avvana could become in it and all the good and bad moral choices which felt important, from reading some reviews it seems they decided to remove that aspect now from sequel into more fixed goody two shoes narrative which is disappointing. Honestly I don't understand the intro to this sequel at all, suddenly Avyanna is tired of ruling, all hard earned companions and/or lovers leave her side and what does she do? Sits in her throne room…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you liked Disciples: Liberation, you'll also like Disciples: Domination. It is Disciples: Liberation, only more modern and therefore better. However, fort eh 3rd part it would need new mechanics, spells, and units, as a third time with just an upgrade of the last 2 games would be too boring for me. Compared to Disciples: Liberation, there are fewer units and fewer heroes. However, the heroes are more varied than in the first one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Expectation: -New dark approach for the protagonist with extended skill set -To continue the hunt for other deities with an interesting campaign What I got: -an expensive DLC to Liberation masking as a whole new game, which only added a new faction and a very boring campaign -spells and skills feels like a step backward from what Liberation offered -had to finish chapter 1 to find out what happened to a god slayer becoming an introvert where nobody wanted to do anything with you…

While some reviewers seem to base their reviews solely on how they feel Domination compares to Sacred Land, I would wager most prospective buyers have never played Sacred Land. No matter how you think the 2 games compare, the bottom line is this: Disciples: Domination stands on its own merits and is a good game. I have…

I was surprised to hear that there was a sequel being made, and even a planned trilogy apparently! So I was so excited to hear that that game was getting a sequel! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disciples Liberation and (now) Domination are popular because they're fun to play. This game is not stressful, or GPU intense, or quick-button crap. It is a strategy game. It's interesting and fun and I paid full price because I wanted to play sooner rather than later. I'm fine with that. neutral · AI labelView post →Starting with the pros, this game is a direct improvement of its predecessor in almost every way. The game flow is more balanced and the combat is very fun. The gameplay is driven well by the story. There are 2 cons of this game: one is the english voice acting, and the other is that this spin off saga does not capture the atmosphere of the originals at all (I am thinking about Disciples II, which I still believe to be the top of the series). Overall, it's a product I recommend!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finished the game in +/- 50h and I can recommend it. It's similar to Liberation which I liked a lot, maybe even too similar. I'd like to see more fresh ideas but it was still a very nice experience to play it. Reducing the number of companions to 5 wasn't a problem in the first playthrough as you can only field 2, but might be a limitation in NG+.
