Several reviewers complain about the lack of checkpoints and repetitive puzzles. [1][2][3][4]

I agree with the mixed reviews. The first game was genuinely spooky and terrifying because of how violent, surreal and unexpected it was. This sequel neglects the main points that made the previous game successful: there are less rooms, less monsters, the puzzles are linear, there arent imaginative solutions and the plot isn't as engaging as it could. This game just feels smaller in comparison, both in length and …

I'm updating my review as I got a friend to help me complete the puzzle I was stuck at, and I managed to finish the game. Even still, I am still disappointed in this game. This game is $17 to the $10 that The original game was. I completed this game at around 4.6 hours, and the original at 6.4 hour mark. The first game has more content then the second, even though the second game costs a decent bit more. …

DBA2 is a difficult game to review. I completed the previous games in anticipation of the sequel and I felt disappointed after completing it the first time. I’ve now completed it twice 100% and I’m in conflict of whether to give it a positive or negative. These are the things that disappoint me the most: -The scope is smaller yet the game costs more: the game is composed of a short hall you walk through (prologue), …

I understand why people who played and enjoyed the first game might not like the sequen. I personally never played the (very different) first game and found "Don't be afraid to be mostly enjoyable". The graphics are good, the sound is good, the puzzles - while follolwing the same idea of number codes- were also good. I especially liked that there wasn't really a physical threat (monster chasing you or something …

Don’t Be Afraid 2 is a masterclass in psychological horror, blending suspenseful storytelling with haunting visuals and sound. Every dark hallway and chilling sound keeps you on edge, making you question what’s real and what’s nightmare. The protagonist’s vulnerability heightens the fear, pulling you into an experience that’s both immersive and terrifying. For horror fans, this game delivers spine-tingling thrills …

60 of 111 · most liked firstOh wow. Okay. So. I´m a huge DBA fan, and I decided to ignore the negative reviews and finally give DBA2 a go. Yes, this is not identical to its predecessor, and that´s okay with me. This is more of an escape room/puzzle game, which again, is a central aspect of DBA, but it´s not the ENTIRE theme or style of the game, if that makes sense? Anyway, it´s alright with me, I enjoyed it up until I realized something... If you die, you have to repeat an ENTIRE chapter from scratch... These chapters…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I replayed Don't Be Afraid before playing Don't Be Afraid 2. The first one was a visceral game of cat and mouse trying to survive and outwit your abductors in a gruesome experience. The second one isn't that at all. The game feels like they were building "escape the room" scenes and afterwards the Don't Be Afraid story line, props, reused voice overs were slapped in so they could throw a Don't Be Afraid 2 logo on it. Literally every level is like "Escape the Garage", "Escape The Attic",…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool concept of horror game driven by escape room mechanics! From the very first moments, DBA2 draws you into a dark, disturbing world full of puzzles and mystery. The graphics are stylish and climatic, enhancing the atmosphere of horror. I really enjoyed this game, especially solving numeorus riddles in moody atmosphere.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Day 30 of the October Horror Reviews: Don't Be Afraid 2 The first Don't Be Afraid felt... different, to this. When I think about the first game in 2020, I'm reminded that it was level-based, not overtly long but also long enough that it felt like a real thrill ride. It felt very visceral, creepy and horrific - you could feel the adrenaline pumping as you step through a serial killer's house. Franklin and Theodore posed a legitimate threat, and pushed as many boundaries as they could to mess…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was expecting the an updated version of the same formula of the first game, a walking atmospheric psuedo survival horror puzzle game. What I got was just puzzle room simulator. After the first room i was sick of the puzzles and the lack of any threat aside from my own failure. Game was boring compared to the first, almost everything was confined to 1 or two rooms with somewhat vague puzzles. I dont know why the devs went in this direction but it was bad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't Be Afraid 2 builds upon its predecessor with improved visuals and a more intense atmosphere. The environments are genuinely creepy, and the story dives deeper into the protagonist's psychological trauma. While the puzzles can be a bit challenging at times, the overall experience is engaging and unsettling. If you enjoyed the first game or are looking for an atmospheric horror with a focus on story, this is worth checking out.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a very big fan of the first Don't Be Afraid. It's my favorite game! I was really excited when I heard there was gonna be a sequel. I finally had the chance to play it for the last two days. Altought there's not a lot of monsters chasing us around this time , Don't Be Afraid 2 is still very scary. I really love that we were able to learn about what happened to David after he survived the first game. Don't Be Afraid 2 is an escape game. Some of the puzzles were really difficult but it was a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went into this game expecting them to crush the bar that was set from the other 2 games in the series and ended up being disappointed. The game is escape room style which I assumed was going to blend into the atmosphere of the other 2 games, nope it's all escape rooms. There's little to no jump scares or direction and if they were going for horror, they missed the mark. I guess if you're an escape room enthusiast then this is the game for you. If you loved the atmosphere of the other 2 games…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This truly is a psychological horror game! It has a tense, spine chilling atmosphere that gets to the marrow of your bones with every sound and jumpscare. The graphics are impressive, the puzzles really put your brain to work while under pressure (...just like in real life). I have only one thing to complain about: in the basement (or police station?) one of those 1's is actually 7 and this is how I spent more than 2 hours there!!! The rest is fine! Here's the full gameplay:…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is ok but is not 100% like the first one because the 1st game had alot more to do, had monsters walking round and alot more rooms and puzzles, this seems too short and rushed, think it needed more work on it, hope the next one is better but still enjoyed it but definitly the 1st is number 1

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't Be Afraid 2 definitely surprised me. While many seem to prefer the first game's raw horror, I found this sequel to be a significant improvement. The higher production values are immediately noticeable, with better graphics and sound design. Yes, there are more puzzles, and the horror takes a bit of a backseat. But I personally enjoyed the change of pace. The puzzles were engaging, and the atmosphere was still unsettling enough to keep me invested. If you're looking for a pure horror…

But it feel way to diffrent from the first game. I would not recommend it. it was juse to much puzzle find a nomber find a nomber and find a nomber..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first was badass. This game isn’t it, the puzzle are insanely crazy and difficult. Streaming this was a huge pain and the chat got bored. We played tons of horror games with lots of puzzles. Levels got increasing difficult to where this game is made for Sherlock homes. I wish this was as good as the 1st one. I wanted to get a refund but it’s too late in terms of how long we spent. If u love super hardcore puzzles, Morse codes, memorizing events and all and then some then have fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The scariest part of this game is that it costs $20aud for a unity asset flip game where you walk around the room looking for triggers. The writing is genuinely awful and mostly nonensensical, and i guess if you just say "it's psychological!!" that makes it so. do not recommend at all. refunded.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think it really depends on what you're looking for in a horror game. If you like Escape Room or Detective games with tons of puzzles or are not biased from Don't be Afraid 1, then I think this could be a very good choice for you. If you want another experience quite like Don't be Afraid 1, you will probably be disappointed. 1,5 hours into the game it's become clear that this game is not quite what I had expected after "Don't be Afraid 1". Overall, it's an interesting horror puzzle game with a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As other people have pointed out, this game is no where near as good as the first one. I was really desperate to like it but it was over before it started. I felt like the plot was very weak, the puzzles were either far too easy or far too complicated and by the end of the game I felt a little bit cheated. The graphics are great, and more polished than the first game however that's where my "pro's" end. It doesn't have the same atmosphere as the first game, nor the same depth of plot. It kind…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think the game is ok but i liked the first one far more. this game is not really all that scary in comparison as well aside maybe near the end...also is far more puzzle heavy witch i don't mind a challenge but they can get super confusing. they should have stuck a bit closer to what they did in the first one and improve on it as things felt far more balanced and fun. i wish we had a bit more to do then just keep getting stuck in rooms for a large amount of time. if i could i would rate this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is well made but ultimately not a patch on the first game. As everyone else has said, it's basically a horror escape room game. The having to start right back at the beginning of each chapter if you fail is very frustrating. The game is padded out with puzzles but really doesn't feel like it had anything to do with the first game. If they had added this as a DLC maybe it would be ok but as a sequel I wasn't very impressed. That being said please do check out the first game, its really…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you wanna play a horror game with shock moments, scares, and more? Then don't buy this game. I loved the first game a lot, I played it a few times to get all the endings. I got really excited as the second game got announced, and little did I know, that this game would end up a Escape Room Game. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE puzzles, but this felt...like a kick in the stomach. iI had a lot of troubles to understand what is even happening nor going on, since I was too invested to understand the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was very excited for this sequel as the original was soooo good. The first one has multiple monsters/bosses and detailed puzzles that don't distract from the story. This one was very weak in telling a story and was excessively puzzle heavy. I lost track of the story because of how excessive the puzzles were. There was only one boss and she wasn't that scary. The trailer shows David working through his therapy but there was no real work done on his trauma and the only scare factor they put in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if this game was released alone, I'd have been less critical and said it was an ok game still prob not worth more than 10 bucks by even a penny but considering the first game gave me quit a few hours of gameplay and was quite fun to explore around the world and moderately simple puzzles I can't get behind this game in the slightest. I truly enjoyed the first game and waited so long for this game, such a disappointment to see how they couldn't keep the same vision. Without spoiling too much…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →compared to the first one not quite as demented but definitely still has a strong sinister vibe and some of the puzzles were actually in a loose sense were done pretty well its probably harder to make some puzzles interesting as each person likely perceives things differently though that later half i relied a bit more heavily on guide than i usually prefer not to mention the narrator though really has a grandiose level of energy almost radiates a chaotic malevolent vibe while the game was good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't Be Afraid 2 is a psychological horror adventure developed by Eneida Games and Cat-astrophe Games and published by Eneida Games, Untold Tales, and GamerSky. Atmosphere & Visuals: The decaying mansion oozes dread, blending surreal visuals and clever lighting to keep you uneasy. Sound design shines—whispers and creaks amplify the tension. neutral · AI labelView post →Don't Be Afraid 2 Has a lot of good parts to the game to make it a whole. The story continues 15 years after you were kidnapped as a child and got away. It shows the trama you still go through trying to recover With this story you go through a horror escape room game With challenging puzzles to solve. Unlock more of the story as you escape each section by collecting clues and items to escape. Make sure to solve them fast enough because if you run out of light it will be no more
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →is a good game, but the checkpoint system is not fair: if you don't finish to escape from a room (ad maybe you are at 99% of it) next time you have to do it from the beginning. Very annoing, i will not play again this game till something that fix that checkpoint autosave or manual save function. 7/10

neutral · AI labelView post →Not a fun game. I thought I'd give it a chance because the first game was good and was actually fun, but this did not get any better throughout playing. The puzzles are shoddy. There is no atmosphere build up. There are just small areas. It honestly feels like a whole different game from the first, which isn't a bad thing, but it loses what made the first entry unique. It’s as if a different developer took the previous game setting and plot to develop an unneeded sequel. It’s so misleading to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just finished the game and I really enjoyed it. I understand now why there are many bad reviews. The sequel has a change of style. Don't be afraid 2 has more puzzles and it feels like an escape room kind of game. The atmosphere is great but if I am to be honest, I enjoyed the first game more than the second one. Nonetheless, Don't be afraid 2 is a great game, the story is interesting. The ending may lead to a third entry in the series. If they will make another one, I hope they will return…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm currently in third room and I can tell you that this is a pretty challenging game. And whenever you sink too much into thinking about puzzles gameplay hits you with something really creepy or scary. Definitely wanna finish this because it's really, really well crafted title and the riddles are very clever.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very good game to get into the Halloween spirit
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a challenging puzzle game - lots of riddles that took me a lot of time to solve. The atmosphere is more like a psychological thriller rather than horror, but some horror elements are also included. The game has lots of twists that keep you engaged and disturbed at the same time. It's a pretty good indie game overall.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the first one and this one is nice twist with Escape Room structure. Loved the story and atmosphere. Puzzles can be really hard - which is good and presentation is also very nice. If you like challenging horrors you should give it a try ! Don''t be Afraid, Dawid !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game if you like really challenging puzzles. I love escape room type game and DBA2 is really well put together mixing puzzles, horror and quite captivating story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good pair of games, this one as well as its predecessor both have their strong points. But damn...is it really that hard to implement proper auto-saves? Luckily there's not too many enemy encounters. Highlight of the game for me was the creepy level design, lore-building, and puzzle-solving. Definitely recommend the DBA Bundle on the next big sale.
