I did it! My #SGDQ2025 submissions are in 🎉 Fingers crossed for Rez 🥺 and of course I have my Sonic game submissions! Aaero2 and Payday 3 are co-op runs with @indyvillain.bsky.social and they're both really fun ones.

Rail shooters are fun. So are rhythm games. So, it stands to reason that their combination would also be a pretty good time. It turns out, that is the case, at least in this particular instance, and while it doesn’t do either one as well as a more focused game in either genre, it puts them together in a way that is enjoyable and engrossing without being too complex. Abbreviated Review: https://youtu.be/qY4vga9wHVA Twice the Aaeros I enjoyed the first Aaero, but it’s been the better part of…

i loved the first aaero, and i absolutely hate this one because of the new shooting mechanic. you have to hold trigger, aim, and let go of trigger on rhythm to maximize score and damage, whereas aaero 1 was a simple aim and press to shoot. looks like this time around, your score is highly dependent on combat efficiency, so expect poor scores unless you master the combat. also, the level design (ribbon-following) is really slow and boring this time around. looks like it was design with…

TL;DR: The immersive on-rails rhythm & melody shooter got local/online co-op and pvp now. The new missile mechanic is easier to grasp but musically weird. Aaero is one of the rare breeds among rhythm games that sheds light on the other aspect of music: melody. Simply put, you follow a melody by riding a luminous strand with your left thumb. You keep rhythm by shooting down baddies with your right thumb and triggers. You do all that while passively flying over beautifully stylized alien…

It's difficult for me to not recommend this game because I like Aaero 1, so much so that I backed Aareo 2 on Indigogo. However, I personally would rather play Aaero 1. I disliked the changes with the new combat system, and I found myself uninterested in playing the tracks on 'Normal' difficulty coming from Master tracks on Aaero 1. It looks like Aaero 2 has really focused on the 2 player co-op. perhaps the tracks are more interesting with 2 players.

I had high hopes for the second game, but gave up after an hour of playing One of my main concerns is the magnet setting; I believe it should be optional. The true joy of this game lies in riding the ribbons, and the magnet feature detracts from that experience. It would be better to have all difficulty levels unlocked from the start, allowing players to choose their preferred challenge right away. Additionally, I found the soundtrack to be less enjoyable this time around. I only really…

I'm honestly surprised more people are not playing these games. Once I played aaero for the first time, I was instantly hooked. 24 hours later and I 100% it. I was hooked and I definitely needed more, So, here comes aaero2, and wow did they improve it a lot more. The songs are banging as usual, but I am nodding my head a lot more with aaero2. The new mechanics take time to get use to, but once you get it down, my god is this game so satisfying. I hope these games keep coming out. I will support…

TLDR: Good game but you should really take some time practicing early songs to get the hang of the controls. I think Aaero2 is overall an improvement to the first. The most notable benefit for casual players is the meter showing when to shoot. The hardest part of Aaero was landing shots. I will never be able to beat Alpha Centauri on advanced, let alone master, purely because I cannot get the hang of shooting on beat with no indication. Aaero2 resolves this with a meter that is always on…

Would probably give this a neutral review if I could but don't think it 'deserves' a negative review, it's just not to my taste for this Aaero, it just completely missed the mark for me. The magnetic ribbon assistance on lower difficulties doesn't feel good to play, it feels like you're fighting the game while playing it, instead of slowly learning the mechanics. I would rather have larger ribbons (easier hitboxes and bigger size) for lower difficulties and easier gentle but still fun arcs.…

Video Review - https://youtu.be/rcrI-u8lCyU Aaero2 is a Monstercat fuelled acid trip that will have you addicted. Half rail shooter and half ribbon following (sounds weird but with the analog it really works) the game can be likened to behemoths such as Rez, Arcaea, Guitaroo Man and Thumper to name but a few. The game features three difficulties and 18 levels which can be completed in a couple of hours, but leader boards and high score chasing is where it's at, and because the soundtrack…

Aaero 2 is a rhythm-based rail shooter developed by Mad Fellows. You pilot a ship through abstract environments, tracing glowing ribbons in time with the music while engaging in combat. The game blends rhythm mechanics with shooting and boss encounters, offering adjustable difficulty to suit a wide range of skill levels. Pros ✔️ A genuinely unique blend of rhythm and ship combat - The way the game ties movement, shooting, and music together feels deliberate and works well. ✔️ Difficulty is…

I was a massive fan of the first game, back on Kickstarter just like I did for this sequel as well. With the first game when it launched it was quite unknown and I was in contact with the developers helping them to tweak the game etc. I was even credited in the first game as well which was nice. Moving on to Aaero2, this is a worthy sequel. It has co op and pvp online modes which is an excellent edition. Of course you have some fantastic banging tunes/new levels to play through. Its here! Aaero 2. The game that feels like Rez yet has been iterated on. fun fact: The devs didn't play nor heard about Rez until Aaero 1 was launched. The game feels kinda samie at first, until after a few levels when the environments become more complex and react to the beat of the music. In Aaero 1, the game was heavily criticized for "sluggish missiles." well, its still there, but the tutorial now explains the mechanic in more detail this time around. so it should be faster to get use…

Aaero2 is a pretty light content offering if you just consider the songs themselves, but the gameplay itself is quite fun. While I think at the moment, Aaero1 has more replay value to me personally, this one was more than satisfactory as a sequel. If the fabled custom songs ever come into being, this would become my de facto pick between the two games.

Great game that adds some extra layers to Aaero's gameplay, but sadly takes away about as much as it gives. + Co-op is really fun + Added complexity with changes to enemy fire and firing system + Solid bank of challenging tracks - Leaderboards and high scores frequently crash - I miss lasers - Difficulty (in terms of scoring, not necessarily the maps) seems to be a lot gentler, with things like magnetic ribbons and respawns lingering way too late into the game's progression Mainly…

Aaero and Aaero 2 are both games that have these qualities: 🔵 You should play them loud, with plenty of bass. I really don't think you can get the most out of these games without having some way to crank the tracks the way they were intended. These aren't delicate piano tracks you could fully experience at medium volume, they are proper jams that want to shake your neighbor's doors off their hinges. This makes your whole house the "haptic feedback" for the ribbon sections. 🔵 They can…

When i first played it, i didn't enjoy it, i thought they ruined a good thing with what they changed, after a while, it grew on me, i started to appreciate the change, i started to vibe to the songs and then the game really clicked. I think they could have done a few things, like chosen another song for the first one, maybe left autolock for missiles, maybe a few more songs but other than that, the game is great. there is also some really stand out tracks…

MAGNETIC RAILS MAKE THE GAME LESS ENJOYABLE, Aaero 1 is better. In aaero 2 normal mode has magnetic rails which removes a bit more player control than I would like, feels too snappy and is too lenient imo. Advance mode plays the same as the first game but you need to get 45 stars to unlock it. Locking advance mode behind a progress wall is a bad choice for a sequel game as returning players are already familiar with the core mechanics. Add in theres only 24 levels, 5 stars max for each, so you…

All I wanted was more tracks on top of Aaero and this sequel provides that and more. The on-beat for more damage missiles and machine gun took a few runs to get used to compared to the first game, but now fine. The rail magnetising was confusing me for a bit, but checked and it’s for the novice levels. Good choice for onboarding, just like the new tutorial. As rhythm games go this and predecessor are among the best. The music is great, the visuals are astounding, and the game play super smooth. The music in this version is a slightly different genre but not so different as to put off players of the first.
