What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 163 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (229 of 240 positive).
Some reviewers criticize it as a shameless Cloverpit clone with basic puzzles and luck-dependent gameplay. [1][2]

Feels like a perfect mix of balatro, inscryption and cloverpit, the artstyle, the mult-meat system, and modifiers make the game so fun to play, and im FULLY prepared to lose HOURS of sleep to this game.

I have an unabashed love of cooking games. This is not a cooking game - or if it is, it’s one that exists at the coalescence of Saw and Creature Kitchen - but that doesn’t mean I don’t love it anyway. Don’t Let It Starve is a horror/cooking-themed Balatro-like. You play as a chef trapped in a dungeon with a spooky and endlessly hungry creature. What specifically this creature is, you ideally never find out, but what …

Good game. Has a novel little slant on the Balatro / Cloverpit gameplay style, and a weird little french freak to feed sausages over and over after you find a cracked build. Pretty sure by the end, bro was like I'LL LET YOU OUT. JUST PLEASE. FEED ME SOME ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PICKLES, I BEG. Kind of coming to the point where this style of game is starting to wear a bit thin though. The Balatro juice has gone through the Clover …

Super fun bento Tetris with multipliers and a neat monster. Had a surprisingly good time and no bugs what so ever. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys these sorts of games and at a good price. Looking forward to unearthing all the lil secrets hidden around the room.

I sunk way more time into this then I ever expected. First as a demo and now as a full game. 100% recommend for all the Balatro, Clover Pit, and Raccoin people out there!

This complete lack of artistic integrity puts a bad taste in my mouth. On top of that, it isn't fun. The one thing that it didn't manage to copy from Cloverpit is its fantastic approach to game design. The charms-- sorry, 'tools'-- and how their effects are applied aren't nearly as intuitive to understand. The ability to get a full combo is entirely dependent on luck, and I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nifty little game with the vibes of balatro, cloverpit, and some inscryption aethetics. For the price I got almost 50 hours of fun finishing everything, and it's the kind of game where if you don't have more than 30 minutes free a day, you can knock out a run in around that long to unwind for a bit.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing this game a bunch and at first glance I feel I had the impression that a lot of other people seem to have from the reviews I've read of thinking it's just a Cloverpit ripoff, but it's actually really fun, I find myself thinking of playing it more when I'm not actively playing it. It's really fun when you get the right combos and just get a HUGE combo going. The one gripe I have with the game is that where the items are compared to the cursor seems to be off, I'm guessing this…

neutral · AI labelView post →like clover pit but instead of slots it's a Tetris-style grid game. Fun, easy rogue like
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I accidentally killed it when I fed it nothing but peppers and a single olive worth 1.053e in a big bento, poor guy went up in flames, asked for 9.011e worth of that afterwards

neutral · AI labelView post →Hmmmm, its okay! Would be nice if there where different puns(comments) instead of the same old ones that are used after ever bent box. Also the game is pretty simple, you play a food based tetris game, and hope to get lucky with the pieces required to move on! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i fed a strange frenchman 600,000 calories contained within approximately 25 olives. 10/10 no notes (maybe a faster game speed pretty please? :3 )
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →INCREDIBLY FUN GAME!! I played it on stream! My community and I had a lot of fun going through it and seeing how many pickles we could cram into a bento box lol Highly recommend if you're a big fan of games like Balatro, Raccoin, and/or ESPECIALLY Cloverpit! The game also fits a good chunk of escape room level puzzle elements similar to Inscryption! Go play it, you won't regret it :>
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How this is different from Cloverpit: 1) instead of a slot machine, you arrange tetris pieces into a 3x3, 4x4, or 5x5 box. 2) You can reroll the tetris pieces. That's about it. Why? I cracked the safe and solved the sliding puzzle on my first and only run.

negative · AI labelView post →game keeps freezing every 10 minutes, and it doesn't save progress into the round when this happens. got frustrated enough with lost progress to give up and request a refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing this game honestly doesn't feel dissimilar to the one-and-only time I tried making a meal for my ex-situationship who just so happened to be a line cook. I felt like I was in a hostage situation. Food was thrown into the garbage out of spite. My plating was judged as if my life depended on it. And alcohol was the only thing that saved the dish, despite none of it going into the food. I might hit homeboy up again. 8/10: Really fun Balatro-like mixed with Tetris. Plus the game's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Balatro + Backpack arranging. Pure and simple. There are some escape-room-esque puzzles all-a Inscryption to give you extra bonuses, but not many. Does what it does well, if limited. Price is right.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I made a 2 billion calorie bento box, the customer exploded.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the demo, won almost all of the rounds and went pretty far in them...full game GREATLY increased the difficulty, four hours and not one level won on the first level of difficulty. Needs some serious rebalancing imo. Surprised only one reveiw appears to mention this.

neutral · AI labelView post →Genuinely a great "Balatro-like" inventory management game with a simple but great horror element. Dev is very active on Discord and has pushed out multiple bug fixes, QoL changes and balance changes within a day. 100% might take a while but it's definitely achievable and not too hard!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall I recommend this game, It is a well crafted game. Graphics are fitting. Gameplay loop is fun, be it a little bit repetetive after a while even with the added challenges, but thats probably with all of these "number go up" type of rogue lites... It would be great to explore more food shapes, even if they were more restricting. Compared to like Cloverpit, it lacks some end game progression or something to continue grinding for, like the 999 build and sacred relics. Maybe it has…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is good. Some translations / explanations are a bit hard to understand. And I'd prefer if "reset the entire game" button would be harder to find than reset the round and maybe EXPLAINED WHAT "RESET" MEANS IN THAT CONTEXT. ̄へ ̄
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is truly addicting and honest fun, the base game revolves around "Cloverpit" mechanics, but throws in its own satisfying gameplay loop. Along with tons of unique items to collect and Easter eggs to find, you can really sink loads of time into this. I'd give it a shot.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is incredibly cool and criminally underseen. I know it sits in the vein of other games like it, but the roguelike elements, mystery, and different challenges here are very cool and gives you tons to play with. High recommend from me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →even though the game has multiple dificulties, it doesnt get more dificult, just more anoying and more restricting. olives are strong on 1 and 2 star dificulties, but in 3 and 4 star they are baisically requiered, as the dificulty modifires make all other foods unreliable and almost impossible to get a full bento(and non full ones reqire one specific tool to be close to usable) i had a lot of fun in the demo, but with the full game i just cant justify playing it for a long time. most runs you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i dunno. this game is brazenly cheap and uninspired. it's worse clover pit. it's a worse version of every game it shamelessly pulls from. even the title feels like it's trying to show up in the search results for Don't Starve. it's not bad or anything, but... is this really what we're doing?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love horror roguelikes like CloverPit so I knew I had to try this game and I am not disappointed! This game has a ton of charm that sets it apart from other similar games and is actually pretty creepy. The roguelike mechanics are really good to with the bento box gameplay. Excited to try and find some of the secrets to this game! https://youtu.be/f8WEaYqLZ-c
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I couldn't even care about the spooks and horrors, I was too engrossed in the gameplay. I was pushing this guy's hands creeping on me aside, while I had to make the best bento possible.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Actually peak new indie game. Monsieur monster please do not consumme-moi
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, very clover pit inspired. Tho needs nerfing, but I guess it would come in next patch (or a few)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh. Sideways thumb. It takes the balatro core and turns it into a very basic tetris game. The problem being it vastly overvalues small pieces which are easy to place while at the same time encouraging you to focus on one piece.. which makes the bento game very basic and easy. Even at the highest difficulty levels, which adds a timer and divides the bento into separate spaces, the game is still very easy unless you just get miserable luck. Unlocking everything is tedious and requires doing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did the demo for this so i was excited for the release, Im a big roguelike player and i love horror. This was so fun and addicting. It gives the clover pit vibes but with more puzzle solving and creepiness. Check this game out and you would bee disappointed!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →best two foods: pickles, and sausages :D bro is full of them when I cook B)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →STEAM DECK LCD - GAME REVIEW I would like to thank Black Lantern Collective for gifting me a game key for this incredible indie title! My wife and I love this game so much that I bought the Supporter Pack DLC. The game is exactly what it says on the tin, a rougelike bento builder that works almost like food tetris but more in depth! The puzzle like bento building is addictive, and its fun to try out new combinations to beat the next high score. There are also escape room style puzzles in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun. Not my personal favourite roguelike but the writing is funny, the items are cool and it does well at giving that dopamine hit when you do well.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only time where my cooking skill's don't really matter and all you have to do is fill up a plate
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very cool, it is like Balatro and Buckshot roulette had a gross child(in a good way). I couldn't recommend this game more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The VIBES on this are so good. Puzzles. Gambling. French monsters. There's literally nothing to not love and well worth the generous price tag.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is similar to cloverpit, although seemingly not as fun still worth the money. If you liked cloverpit you'll likely enjoy this game too. Also runs well on a potato PC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty decent. I always get a chuckle out of the Fr*nch eldritch abomination insulting my cooking.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a pretty chill game, until you get the timer added and then it's very not chill. It's easy to pick up to play a run. Almost launched out of my chair when messing with the bells and he popped out the vent O_O
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very solid roguelike for all you "trapped in an evil room" fanatics. Solid mechanics with a good presentation and fair balancing.
