What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 142 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (170 of 260 positive).
Players find the core gameplay fun but criticize the lack of content and balance issues. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the game is a solid Slay the Spire clone with a unique monster-taming twist. [4][5][6] Several players report bugs and UI problems that hinder the experience. [7][8][9]

This game is definitely better than the "Mostly Negative" reviews suggest, but unfortunately I'm going to have to add onto the negative reviews because there just isn't enough content in the game. The core loop is fun and the first 3-5ish hours are a lot of fun, but the card pool is too shallow, the relic pool is the same, and other than one or two exceptions the Mystlings (the characters you use) are all very very …

Really wanted to like this, and the gameplay itself is very fun, but I've run into near constant UI bugs in just under an hour of play. I had to replay the tutorial twice because the UI froze with no way continue which required a force quit to resolve. Then had to abandon my first run because one of the heal shacks never loaded its overlay properly, then wouldn't go away causing a soft-lock where I couldn't fight …

I would recommend this game to someone like myself who has played through Slay the Spire, Monster Train, Across the Obelisk, etc and really loves the genre. The biggest problem is what the game offers right now. I beat the final boss in my second playthrough. Upping the difficulty only truly increases the cost of cards and bonus items. after 4-5 hours, you can probably beat the game on the hardest difficulty. I …

Pretty solid game that mixes the Rguelike Deckbuilder with Monster Taming. You start a run by choosing 3 different creatures, each one of them adding different cards to your deck, and then you go through some kinda open map where you get to choose your battles, each one with its own difficulty (of course, harder battles have better rewards, but you have to be ready to face them). Combat is not your default type of …

As a lot of people commenting, I'd love to like this game, but there is something wrong. After 6-7 hours I finished the last act with the same team and broken strategy (turtle, put the shield up to 200-300, shield bash to nuke everyone) and nothing in the games makes me want to try another team. There are too few options to block incoming attacks, so I never removed the turtle from my team which is a pity knowing …

You’ll flirt with the boundaries of its content somewhere before the seven-hour mark, and far before then you’ll get intimate with its greatest vice: a consistent deprioritization of polish. The UX of this game has problems. End-of-turn actions resolve back to front despite enemies facing opposite sides, so you’ll need to dart…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm at 5 hours of playing and I think I'm bored already. I've got a little over half of the creatures unlocked and most of them are outright terrible. The few that I like form a pretty fun team, but they capitalize on activations and don't work with much else. I'm on Act 4 and tried a bunch of other combinations, but none are very effective. So, I'm just spamming the same combo over and over. The card pool is kind of boring. It's activate creature X times, attack X times, block X times, or draw…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love card collecting roguelikes, and I put more time than I should have into this game. Deck design is uninspired and not rewarding even when it works. The over-wold map is so clunky it hurts to just get to the next battle, a point and click interface would have felt more finished. The various 'pokemon' on your team are vastly different in their power levels meaning there is really only a few viable builds and a bunch of fluff to unlock before you get stuff.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dragon deck builder in early access. Mystlings are like Pokemon and you get 3 at a time. After using them, they can evolve. Pros: - Stunning art of dragons and a fantasy world. - Tool tips provided for learning the game. Comments: - Multiple NPCs to interact/talk to at start. - Can breed mystlings in game, but did not get far enough to understand how it works. Cons: - Completely unbalanced. Feels like a mix between a deckbuilder, pokemon, and an autobattler. They mixed elements…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this, I do hope the board game is better than the PC version. I have Slay the Spire, this game is a cute version of the same thing. Nothing was re-invented here for this game. it is a mindless romp really, not my thing. Others may enjoy this if there was a middle rating I would give it a 5/10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very interesting concept for a roguelike deckbuilder game but it gets stale after a few runs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This weekend's plan: review animations, polish, play Dragon Eclipse. What happened: three new versions of act 3 for Scrapfit. A blackout, a junkyard kingdom, and a scrap cult building a golden calf. No idea yet if any of them is the one. Which one would you play? #indiedev #roguelike #gamedev

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is decent and entertaining for the first 2 hours, but the amount of viable strategies in the game is so unbelievably limiting that most of the Mystlings might as well not even exist. The revive character in particular has an absolutely stupid amount of utility, tank, healing, damage, ect while some of the Mystlings fail to function in the one area that the devs seemed to tailor them towards. I really cannot recommend this game in good faith to anyone until there are some super drastic…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm gonna give the Devs some time to work on their EA here but the UI leaves *quite a lot* to be desired, walking around on the overworld map feels super janky, and the balance of the game feels completely out of wack. (Why am I facing a character that can do 18 damage on turn 1 with my monsters having health pools in the range of 5 to 15 hp in an "easy" fight?)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was really fun and has some really cool and unique ideas for a deck builder but... i beat the boss in the first run and theres only one boss? It felt like i barely had any time to lvl up and evolve my guys before it forced me to fight the boss and then it was over. I know this is early access but the runs absolutely need to be longer. Like i hope theres atleast 3 towns you explore and do battles in before fight a boss at the end of each one instead of just one area and one boss. This…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Did quite a bit of board gaming this year - by my standards at least! Feel like I got to enjoy a wide variety of games this year. Heat, Kingdom Legacy, Elder Scrolls, Arcs, Origin Story and Dragon Eclipse are some standouts for sure. #BGStats
positive · AI labelView post →Takes around 5 hours to be done with the " story modes ". I was hoping after this there would be a much more standardized RogueLike mode but not really. The closest to it is just redoing the final act and it's really not interesting as you steamroll everything very fast. Was also hoping that this would be added soon after the release but nope. They released and didn't touch it. What you see is what you get, and while the concept is fun, it is really not exploited in a meaningful way.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →at the time of writing the review there was not that much content in the game after about 7h i had everything unlocked ... the game has a lot of potential but at the current state it feels more like a demo to me so my recommendation for now it to wait until there is more content added to the game will come back in the future and review the game again when there is more content
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lot of mechanics are not telegraphed well. Which statuses go away at end of turn, what resources are used for, how shop costs scale, etc. Very frustrating when you're trying to build a strategy. Art is nice but doesn't make up for being frustrating to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun for the first 3-4h gets repetitive after and quickly runs out of content afterwards. Low replay value
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →please allow running in the game, the walk speed drives me crazy, it makes the innovation a drawback I would prefer a simple slay the spire style map to having to wait for my character to slowly walk across the screen
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall a very promising roguelike with an interesting spin. Currently I don't think it's worth purchasing until more content is added and it's more developed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my first time writing a review for a game so here goes an honest opinion from someone who play tested the game over the last two weeks (yes I sadly only got 8 hours BUT).. Do you like turn-based combat? Do you like well-made card games? Do you like raising little monster buddies and evolving them to fit your play style? annnnnd do ya like supporting straightforward developers who communicate efficiently with the community they created? If you replied 'yes" to any of these than I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has curious ideas, but implementation is kinda meh, just "maybe", considering a price
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just finished building my first major 3D printed design project, to make an insert for the new Awaken Realms game Dragon Eclipse. My insert makes it possible to fit the entire expansion plus neoprene mats into the box. Really excited about uploading it to the 3D printing sites (for free)

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →read the rulebook for Dragon Eclipse (the board game i recently got) seems fine, not too complicated, will probably make more sense when i start playing but now i need to figure out a space/setup to actually play it
neutral · AI labelView post →I hit a progression stopping bug that prevents the final act from working properly. I was otherwise fairly whelmed by this game. For about 10 bucks I don't mind experimenting with the different teams of monsters, but I do feel like the game play end ups being incredibly samey, and it's a bit too easy to fall into a rut of just focusing on triggering activation as much as possible. It makes it feel like you're playing Slay the Spire's Defect over and over and over again, but only building…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels very punishing without being very rewarding. Most of the time it feels like barely keeping your head above water. Almost every fight hurts and there's not much to do about it until later. The end game seems to be getting a few specific cards / items to set off big combos with the small handful of useful mystlings. Then acid shows up and you better be one-shotting enemies or it's back to being hurt again. I feel like I'm either superman or drowning. And then the act abruptly ends…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like the game. I liked it a lot for the first few runs but as I tried to do anything beyond the first level one status effect slowly eroded my want to play. Acid. It is often applied randomly. It deals 1 fixed damage per stack. It does not disappear. It is not blockable. It strangles the build usability of everything and ruins my enjoyment as I attempt to try characters outside the starting few. As long as Acid has this game by the throat like this I will not be able to recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, still playing on Steam Deck, and the controls seem to be fixed...Act 5 however is completely Borked at the moment, and both fights you can access immediately to essentially softlock the game, to the point it even crashed my Steam Deck...multiple times. So kudos to the team Managing to fix the previous issues with the controls, since it's now playable for those using the deck without being a massive pain, but it's literally not possible to finish the game at the moment without having to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I count this as a favor to expositors: I bought a 200 USD Dragon Eclipse boardgame to find out most card illustrations were slopped, so I'll definitely stay away from whatever Awaken Realms wants to slop next. If I catch a whiff of slop, I'm not game.
negative · AI labelView post →English / Français WORTH IT for 1€ (price i bought it) ! ((tldr : Easy - Short - Lack ennemies/Boss - FUN !)) Don't hesitate if you like deckbuilder + monster taming. 10-15h should be enought for 100% achievement. (did it in 12h) Good ideas - vibe (monsters are "cute") - mecanics, just Not Enought Content / shallow UI. A bit amaturish / buggy sometimes but Overall Pleasant and Good Game. What is Lacking : _ no difficulty setting ? _ always same map _ 5 act but only 3 Boss (random?) _…

neutral · AI labelView post →Running a little Dragon Eclipse solo tonight. Definitely a fun Pokemon-like adventure. Excited to see where the story goes! #boardgames

neutral · AI labelView post →I really want to like this, but the world between battles is very clunky. There definitely needs to be some quality of life updates to the game because as of right now it's far too easy to put down out of boredom. The content is here and has the potential to be great, but extremely slow character movement, not being able to scroll out to plan (especially where you have a limited # of days), and unbalanced monsters really hinders it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game combined rougelike, deckbuilding, and pokemon vibe into one, and I absolutely loved it. What I like : - The setting, I get the feeling from medieval fantasy, which is cool. Almost reminded me with crash bandicoot ngl. - Evolution system, make me hype to see the evolution form - Blessing, this passive effect is kinda fun, it's like relic but for each creature. What could improved from this game: - Adding map, or at least give availability to do scrolling, so I will know where I should…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →problem is, its getting hard to tell.. I backed a board game called Dragon Eclipse.. didn't find out till months later that it was AI Generated images.. makes sense they now had special artist renders of some of the art as add-ons
negative · AI labelView post →First off: i got the product for free (they looked for some testers ahead of the EA launch) but the following is my honest opinion. Basically you fight yourself through a fixed amount of battles of different difficulties (the amount is set depending on the overall difficulty you have chosen for that run) and after that you have to fight a boss (which is randomly choosen from a view different ones already available). The way you approach those battles is determined by your team of 3 mystlings…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is very undercooked, would've benefited from early access probably. Frankly bizzare level navigation. I don't know why you would think that this is better than just having options on a map. Incredibly unbalanced relics. When you die it gives every piece of dialogue again. Communication of enemy intent is not clear, but perhaps that's just because you have three characters that can get attacked. I think this would've worked a lot better if there were just standard enemy attacks and those…

neutral · AI labelView post →Game is ridiculously unbalanced. For a deck builder you don't ever really build your deck. Each area you go to you have to start again, but the difficulty gets harder. I have about half of everything unlocked and in the 2nd to last area I get trounced in the 2nd fight every time. So I either need to grind (which is a dramatic shift from the earlier areas) but that only unlocks mystlings or tamers, or I need to figure out which specific combo of mystlings and tamer that area was built for, which…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/10 Battle's are meagerly unbalanced often leading you to loose from 1 basic enemy winning is usually luck based and feels not fun all the monsters feel underwhelming and with to many drawbacks.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edited after update: I was really excited waiting for this game. The art is really nice and the characters are super cute and I've always loved deckbuilder games and creature collector games. This is an interesting mashup with a few things missing that could polish it. It made it seem like you get to take care of creatures but you don't really care for them and there is no permanent growth to them at all. They added more things with the update but the runs are still much too short. I didn't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game crashes every time it tries to load the final boss. The core mechanics are fun so far. Will be a good game once bugs are ironed out and content is added. Assuming the dev doesnt give up randomly like many do. EDIT: Got the game to work after fully removing it with revo uninstaller. The game is fun, but it's balancing is horrible. Your normal attack costs 2 of your 3 energy but there is a card that attacks FOUR times for two energy. It has "wither" on it so after using it it attacks one…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun but strange game. Play Slay the Spire instead if you haven't already, as Dragon Eclipse is heavily inspired by it. That said, if you remain curious, the game offers about 10 hours of content, which is rather meager for a roguelite deckbuilder. This is largely due to some rather odd balancing and game design choices. The gameplay At the start of each run, you select a "Tamer" and three "Mystlings" (tamed creatures). These initial choices determine the starting cards. Then you find…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game out of curiosity about design choices for this particular genre mashup of monstertaming and deckbuilding. And in that, it didn't disappoint. There are some good ideas that unfortunately ended up half-baked. I can't recommend it as a game, because it feels like the unlikely mix of genres gave the game an identity crisis. The run-based gameplay just didn't fit well with the usual continuity of monster collecting. Your collection just grows opening you to new combinations, but…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best game I've played in a very long time
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not sure if this is just a looped demo or what the game play will be. You don't get to setup decks before hand. It almost feels like no matter what dragons you are using 99% of the time it is the same cards over and over. Just no depth right now. I have played and gotten every dragon and character. Just not fun after a couple of rounds. Feels like it is missing something. Have only run into one UI bug. But that was it. So coding seems pretty good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very enjoyable if you are looking for a game that is a good break from the stress of cod or helldivers this is it great way to just relax and play something that isn't fast but still takes some thought and strategy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why didn't you just use the same system as the board game version? This feels like another Slay the Spire / Card En Ciel knock off as opposed to the really inventive gameplay you brought to the table. Not only that, but the dialogue is VERY OBVIOUSLY really bad AI. Super disappointing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish more game reviewers took this stance, way too much love for genAI shit like Dragon Eclipse and Kingdom Legacy, and more of it pumped out every day. I was *so excited* for Dragons Down, then the jackass who made it quadrupled-down on genAI.
neutral · AI labelView post →Everything about this game feels painfully amateurish. Not outright jank, just a dozen small design choices (or lack thereof) that pile on right out the gate. It's nothing new, and not done well either. Even the fact that this game only cost me like 50 cents more in a bundle to get is not good enough to give it a pass either.
