Been wanting to try this game since it's release just never got round to it. Finally picked it for $5. Firstly, why does a game like this have team damage, when you enable team damage in a game like this you're just asking for trolls to run wild. In my third game playing I was team killed by a level 500 midway through the match for no reason at all, not only doesn't he get punished for that he does it a second time …

World War Z is definitely one of the best zombie games on Steam and still way too underrated for what it has to offer. It's a four player co-op game set in a world right after a zombie apocalypse. There are 3-4 levels each in New York, Moscow, Jerusalem, and Tokyo. If you upgrade your game to the Aftermath Edition (which I highly recommend), you'll get another 3-4 levels each in Marseille, Rome and Kamchatka. The …

I’ve played this game for nearly 1,800 hours, so I am one of the most qualified to speak on it. My evaluation of it is somewhere between good and bad. Why do I say that? Because the maps are boring; some of them are monotonous and not fun at all. When you play them for the first time, there might be some enjoyment, but after playing them a few more times, they become repetitive and dull. The game menu itself …

Fun for a few hours, but gets repetitive very fast. World War Z is definitely an entertaining game at first. Watching massive swarms of hundreds of zombies climb over each other and running them down with heavy weapons gives a great initial rush. It’s a solid arcade co-op shooter to turn your brain off and play. However, the biggest issue is that it gets incredibly boring after a short while. The gameplay loop is …

A really fun co-op shooter, especially if you play with friends. Fighting through huge waves of zombies together can get pretty intense, and seeing hundreds of them rushing toward you never really gets old. The missions can feel a bit similar after a while, but the action and teamwork keep it entertaining. It’s one of those games that’s easy to jump into and just have a good time. …
Summarised from 34 of the 347 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 10, 2026. How summaries are made
Players who liked World War Z talk about great co-op zombie shooter with huge swarms; those who didn't talk about repetitive missions and short campaign. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
According to review aggregator Metacritic, the game received "mixed or average reviews" from critics. Game Informer compared it to Left 4 Dead series and praised its shooting mechanics, visuals and story, but criticized its soundtrack and lack of non-vocal player interactions. It was the best-selling retail game in the UK in its week of release. As of 23 April 2019, more than 1 million units of the game have been sold. It sold almost 2 million copies in the first month after the release. In Japan, the PlayStation 4 version of World War Z sold 27,872 copies within its first week of release in September 2019, placing it at number seven on the all format video game sales chart. As of October…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Players are being silenced, their threads deleted or locked when they have negative things to say about the game and we're given the dumbest reasons as to why, like "This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion." Who's confusion? We all can read that the thread is 2 years old which doesn't matter to be honest when the issues described by the OP are still not fixed in 2026 so they locked the threads when new players "revives" them sharing their…

You really appreciate how linearity can directly contribute to a memorable and well-paced experience after playing the same kind of game in a big open map.
neutral · AI labelView post →The game is mostly good. I didn't play much (~5 hours) but I'd have played more if it wasn't for 1 mechanic. The reason its only 5 hours is because my friends hated it. For 1 reason - When zombies tackle you (and this is a common mechanic) you can't do anything. Another player has to come over and kill the zombie. By itself that's just annoying. But once we got into missions with multi "things" to defend and spread out it was decided this is not the game for us. Mechanics like this in…

As of February 2026, ignore the unsupported tag, this game runs great on deck with only a few steps 1. go to properties and set resolution to 1600x1000 2. copy this and paste into launch options: SteamDeck=0 %command% 3. switch to proton experimental 4. ingame, switch from directx11 to vulkan. you will get substantially higher fps. make sure to set graphics to medium or low and enable dynamic resolution. I personally use a mix of medium and low settings and set the…

While this game is older and likely didn't have GenAI used, I can no longer support the developer because of their anti-human behavior. Quote from the CEO in regards to the writer they fired to replace with GenAI; “Stella who? I had to ask Claude because I have never spoken to her or seen her. We have already said we are using AI for certain parts of the game…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best Left 4 Dead successor. Zombie Army trilogy is actually my favorite game in the L4D-like genre but the most recent game in that franchise, Zombie Army 4, is held back by some weird shenanigans with how the weapons upgrades work that seem to be left over from a previous build of the game, as well as huge amounts of content, especially in the form of weapons, which were simply hacked out of the game to sell as "DLC". If you want a spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead with modern gameplay…

It's def one of the best zombie shooters but a lot of things need to change cuz it's basically unplayable at higher difficulties unless you get lucky and get super good teammates. You sometimes join servers on the other side of the world with 200 ping because there's no way to limit the ping of what match you want to join and it's so laggy that it takes forever to register a kill. There's also toxic people who teamkill…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is an absolute grind. npc players are useless, they stand in the dumbest spots and get steamrolled by Z's. They stand on you or in you and get in your line of fire effectivly killing themselves. if they are behind you they will shoot you in the back. 2 or 3 humans are needed and working together. This game has so many bugs and problems that never get fixed. Half of my time in this game is sitting in menus waiting for ready players, or selecting the perks or upgrades to your own…

HUH? 2nd, the bots are absolutely stupid. 3rd, trying to play multiplayer is just painful. There is no penalty for killing your teammates, so people just continue to do it on purpose to get people to leave and it ruins the game. 4th, the spawning of some of the harder mobs makes 0 sense. I can be standing there in a cleared room, then all of a sudden I'm jumped on. When THE ROOM WAS…

neutral · AI labelView post →Mechanically passable game with "ongoing support" in form of unimaginative weapon "skin" DLCs and leveling mechanics straight out of the worst free-to-play grinder. Everything costs virtual currency. Pay to get class perks, pay to get weapon levels, pay to get weapon perks that you unlocked by grinding AND paying for levels, "prestige" class costs an atrocious amount of currency and simply forces you to grind and PAY once again for all the perks you have already payed for. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best Zombie shooter I've ever played. I have 2,750 hours played and that number keeps going up. They add new content at a reasonable pace and the DLC and Skin Packs are pretty cheap considering what you get from buying them and compared to other shooter type games. I also have only ever blocked 2 players so the community is NOT toxic at all like a lot of other games. I'd recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a FPS game. The voice acting is also very well done and quite humorous…

Then I sold my PS5 junk & started all over again on PC recently (Level 845). I truly love this game despite some flaws... -The Good Game features fast zombie swarms that pyramid just like in the movie. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. One of the better L4D-likes out there. Would love to give it a positive review once Saber's CEO Karch is gone with his genAI-loving ass.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At a whopping 72 gigs, this game feels shockingly lacking in actual content, an issue made even worse by what feels like nearly half the game being carved up into DLC packs. Astoundingly, even the ability to play in a first-person camera mode is monetized behind an additional $20 DLC. When compared to other staple titles in the zombie genre, like Left 4 Dead 2 and Killing Floor 2, it becomes immediately apparent just how barebones this title feels by comparison.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly I like the game, but I have problem with the campaign. It's incredibly short. Half the maps are behind DLC's and more expensive than they seem worth. Idk why you would hide whole maps. Let people play them and they will get the DLC's for weapons etc. This is a game to buy on sale, enjoy for a weekend, and then move on.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If they only fixed bots to actually, you know, DO SOMETHING, then this game would be a 10/10. But like every other single 4-player coop game in existance, the bots do nothing at all for some reason.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most fun co-op zombie shooters out there. It captures the chaos of the movie perfectly huge swarms of zombies, fast pacing, and constant pressure that keeps every match exciting. The classes give you real variety, and leveling up weapons feels rewarding.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought the game was fine until I saw that to unlock weapon perks I'd have to wait for a specific map to be on the daily challenge rotation to get documents. This instantly killed my motivation to play because I'd either have to wait until there's a daily challenge for the map I need, then hopefully finish it before it changes maps, or spend forever changing the date and time until I can find the map and good mutations to compensate for the offline NPCs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Relaxing shoot 'em up, but a bit too repetitive. Gameplay: I give this game a positive review for its gameplay, content, playable characters, and weapons. However, the campaign is too short, and so much areas are in DLC too much expensive. This game is not a cash grab, though. The difficulty level ranges from very easy to incredibly hard. The gameplay is really focused on the horde style, even the campaign, with each map's areas designed in horde style. There are many shoot 'em up games,…

neutral · AI labelView post →Got this for around seven bucks, and it still feels overpriced. Half of the game's content, including first-person mode, is locked behind a DLC, for one. There's a skill-tree system too, which doesn't make much sense in a zombie game. The special infected aren't very, well, special, and the creeper is especially annoying, as all you get is a "Creeper" in the same tone as the survivors say everything else before it pounces on you, usually from two feet away. First-person would probably help…

I was wrong and they just keep coming out with updates and DLC's. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you're looking for a game that's like left 4 dead 2, but not quite left 4 dead 2, this is a much-try. besides the perk system, the game's difficulty comes more from fighting the massive horde of zombies itself rather than amping up the enemy health or special zombies count. While those can increase, they aren't the focus of the difficulty. i.e. if you want to shoot more zombies than you've had to in other games, give this one a try

Yes it works but lack of innovation. There is a GRIND for basically all the weapons. Would I play it consistently....No. So if you like it, good for you, but it's not for me and I did give it a chance. I would still recommend it though because it's well made for what it provides in its genre. Buy it on a discount, and not a full price buy IMO.
