I want to like this game but in essence the game is a $30 dollar game at best. A lot of assets are reused from DQ11 particularly music. One of the major cut scenes in the game I came across was ripped straight from the switch with no up scaling. the game is very AA in nature but generally charming. I must say there is nothing impressive here. It is very simplistic in scope and could be fun at a reasonable price …

Well this came out of nowhere. This is a weird one. It's not a massive new mainline DQ game, but this game scratches a particular itch. If I had to say what it's like, this game feels a lot like Dragon Quest's version of Pokemon Legends Arceus, with a dash of Xenoblade-style landscapes and some hints of collectathon-ish platforming. You travel around, fighting and recruiting monsters, scouring every nook and cranny …

A true completionist's trial. Casual players will be fine running through the story and a good chunk of content but people who 100% will have their mental fortitude greatly tested. All 777 treasures are RNG, finding each one does not remove them from the loot pool because you can find duplicates. Every time you pick up a treasure you can only see it's silhouette and type so you have to keep a spreadsheet on hand of …

A treasure hunting action RPG in the DQ world. If you absolutely love the Dragon Quest series then you'll certainly enjoy this, at least for a bit like me. That being said, the combat is pretty bad and there is a lot of RNG involved in most aspects of the game. The worst offender though, is not only the fact that it's grindy as ♥♥♥♥, but it's grindy in a way that's just there to waste your time. Wanna dig a treasure …

Pros: Addictive and fun main gameplay loop. Head out from your base to find treasures and do simple sidequests. After 15-45 minutes, come back to an "unboxing party" for all the treasure you've picked up and watch your money bin fill up. Nice clean graphics, runs well, supports 120FPS. Music: a great selection of Dragon Quest tracks in that distinctive Sugiyama style. The familiar Dragon Quest aesthetic is executed …

79% of the 156 Steam reviewers we collected recommend DRAGON QUEST TREASURES. The complaint that keeps coming up: repetitive grind and RNG-heavy treasure hunting. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

Critics, per Wikipedia

The game received a mixed reception for the Switch version and a generally favorable reception for the Windows version, according to review aggregator Metacritic. RPGFan praised the "cute story" and interesting world, but said the combat was weak and the game was overall more insubstantial than the main Dragon Quest games. Siliconera summarized the game as a "massive to-do list", though "one filled with personality". They felt that the treasure hunting and gameplay were fun, but that the number and categories of quests became "overwhelming and exhausting". *Ignore my hours. Already played the Switch version about 7 ish hours.* Finally! I've been wanting to play this game since day 1 for the PC or PS5 release! I have no idea why I love this game, but it's that good. It's easily the best side Dragon Quest game ever for me. That's saying a lot. I liked the Switch version, but playing it 15 or 20 FPS, isn't what I call "fun". Which is a crime this game wasn't in every systems. >:( But PC version, nah, man! We're done with 60! It's 150 FPS,…

Wish I could give a neutral review. If you are a big fan of the series this game is more of what you want. If you are not, I don't think this entry will win you over. I spent around 5~ hours at the very start of the game grinding up a 'good' team. I spent another 5ish hours just cruising around and exploring the world and unlocking fast travel. The main story itself only took a couple hours to clear and wasn't very compelling. Post game is a random infinite scaling dungeon along with finishing…

Just a super quick and dirty basic tech overview for things that I was looking for, not a "review": - Supports 30, 60, 120, 144 and uncapped FPS with a separate vsync toggle. - Supports resolutions up to 4k, but does not support ultrawide out of the box, you'll get black bars. Defaults to Borderless, but also has windowed and exclusive fullscreen. - A decent amount of graphics options, not super impressive but you can make it look significantly better than the Switch version in terms of actual…

I was hoping the game would be similar in quality to Dragon Quest Builders 2 for a DQ spin-off game, but it's not even close. This is an exploration game that does everything in it's power to make exploration less fun. The combat is almost entirely determined by your AI monster companions, who will spend the majority of a battle standing around not doing anything. When they finally do decide to attack you'll be lucky if they actually make contact with anything. In the meantime you can tickle…

Was so excited to get this on sale, and for a few hours it felt like I'd made the right choice. + charming DQ stuff, as always + starts pretty strong - fun to begin working on the base, collecting monsters and unlocking fast travel spots Just doesn't have enough meat on the bones. Every part of it feels like a grind and the unskippable animations for various activities really make the lack of depth stand out. Wish I loved it but I don't. DQ Builders 1/2 are wildly superior.

Had to edit my review because people are really underselling this game. I picked this up totally at random, saw the launch trailer for switch, forgot about it and then it appeared on steam, and i was looking for a chill, colorful and calm game. This game is what i was looking for, and then some more; right from the start you have Akira Toriyama iconic art style that i find nostalgic and fun, the young protagonists sense of adventure, braving a world full of treasure and monsters! The TLDR is this is a on sale game at best.... Gameplay is decent but "story" seemed to be something the devs felt were optional. Its like they wanted to make a DQ version of World of Final Fantasy and did a DQ spin on it and made is awful. Beat the game in 18hrs which after that to get the "true"? ending you need to find 50 iconic treasures as the "story" Sorry yah the story was WEAK asf now you want me to do some RNG based crap to get the last piece of this 2 page long story for this game?…

Bought this game because I loved DQXI, knowing that the games were very loosely related and were otherwise, very different games. Sadly, this game just did not land for me. The whole gameplay loop with collecting treasure could’ve worked well, but the fact that you can only hold a maximum of 9 treasures at a time, and that the treasures you find are random, makes the whole game feel sluggish. The combat really isn’t much fun either since the majority of it is just waiting for your team of…

Once I got 9 hours in, that's when this game got boring. Not because of the music, not because of the story, because of the GAMEPLAY. 1. THE MONSTERS DON'T SHUT UP: I don't know what they were thinking where they decided to have your monster party members to say something literally EVERY 5 seconds. At first, its cute, its funny, I liked it. But after 30 mins to an hour, it gets old. And there is no option to turn it off. So while I look for treasure I am hearing the bat say "I like to…

If this were some other brand I wouldn't even have heard of the game. Tose has made some other great games like Dragon Quest Monsters, go play those instead. This game rekindled my love for Dragon Quest series, I've been a fan since the Dragon Warrior name era. It is a great spinoff and refresher to the normal JRPG recipe gamers had been fed in the last couple of years, though there is nothing special about Treasures. Dragon Quest Treasures is a spin off of DQ XI, which was an amazing game. It features younger versions of Erik and his sister on their quest to find treasure. The story is pretty simple, but the plot builds as you progress. The game is wonderfully colorful and vibrant. Enemies are classic DQ and the locations are varied and, at times, quite beautiful. The game features RPG-lite mechanics like leveling up and item usage, but it's more of an action/adventure game. You can roam an open world,…

Dragon Quest Treasures is to the Dragon Quest™ franchise what I hoped WoFF would have been for Final Fantasy. There's so much love and care that went into this awe-inspiring map that lends to an insane amount of fun just collecting a boatload of treasure paired together with your standard JRPG experience. What you are getting is essentially a Hidden Object JRPG with a solid amount of questing involved (about 30-40h), a ton of collectibles, charming (sometimes annoying) monster companions, and a…

Even then, it reminds me of the N64/PS era collect-a-thons, but with nothing interesting to keep you going. Story: It's your typical JRPG MacGuffin quest with some of the goofiness of DQ. The game is just okay. Clunky controls during combat with a single combo that takes 7 to 10 business days to recover from, near constant cutscenes after walking 10 feet, companion monster AI that would sooner throw itself into rivers/lava than fight the enemies... so many aspects of this feel like an afterthought. There are better spin offs and better yet, if you've never played DQ Builders 1 and 2, get that instead, especially you're expecting a cosy experience from this game but instead it gives you nothing but headache from the lack of QOL and annoying rival and monster pestering you from doing what you want to do, in this case, treasure hunting.

Answer: both!) but once I got past that and into the "meat" of the game I found a lot to enjoy. The exploration is fun, expanding your loot is fun, and recruiting and optimizing monsters is fun, etc. Also, the "Japan" is dialed up to 11 and the localization is fantastic (so many puns o.O) so that doesn't disappoint.…

New week new schedule! This week we're starting Dragon Quest Treasures! A game that I waited so long to start for various reasons that I don't remember a single thing about it. Lets discover it together! Wednesday and Friday at 3pm EST!!!

Finished my playthrough of Dragon Quest Treasures✨️🎉 It was a fun adventure, a bit repetitive for me, but overall loved the world and the quests. Will probably return to the post game, after jumping into other games

I recently play Dragon Quest Treasures for the first time. I just want to give a shout out to Sham Hatwich for being one of the most adorable things I've ever seen

Has puns. Lots of puns. The game has other redeeming qualities, but more importantly, it has puns. 10/10

I don't really know how to describe this game. It's quite unique. Kind of a very chill open world adventure, creature collector, action-RPG, treasure hunting, exploration gatcha game. It feels a little like Monster Hunter in that you head out to one of a dozen or so different large open world areas to search for various things, come back to the base, upgrade somethings, manage your team and then plan the next outing. Working my #backlog still and currently on Dragon Quest Treasures - fun game but OMG absolutely TERRIBLE party member AI. You’d think #SquareEnix, which sadly partners with Google Gemini, could least program party members to not slam their face into a 2ft tall wall while the rest fight but NOPE! 👍

It’s rare for me to start a video game and actually finish the story within a decent amount of time. Usually I just start it and then stop after a while. Dragon Quest Treasures is built different. Actually played through story mode and still want to complete the treasure log.
