In its current state this game is extremely rough and not one I can recommend. I was really interested based on the trailer, but even for an Early Access game it's got a long way to go. ~Graphics~ Even on max settings they're very low res. Textures are muddy and look like clay whether in the environment or on the character himself. The falling leaves look nice though. ~Gameplay~ Combat and mobility are both very …

There are a lot of interesting things about this game. Of note is how it seems to combine elements of modern action roguelites with more traditional "mystery dungeon" elements; for example, you can use every item in the game either on yourself or as a thrown item, and many may be cursed or have to be identified. Combat is simplistic but satisfying and a lot of the equippable abilities are interesting. The main flaw …

Game is fun as hell. Most people here don't seem to understand what this game is - it's a Shiren-style Mystery Dungeon roguelike, where item usage and inventory management is important, not mashing R1/R2. In fact, damage is mostly dealt with weapon skills, of which you find different combinations in every run, that you can then upgrade to customize (and ultimately create) your build. I wasn't wanting to be super harsh on this game because the concept is something I enjoy but.... The keybinds? Awful. The graphical and sound quality? Awful. Tutorial? Awful. The current lack of depth on every aspect of the game doesn't even warrant a $10 purchase. It's UI is sorta abysmal, no joke. The combat is just left click, left click, left click... R which will usually get you hit as it doesn't stagger like left click does so it's useless. It just feels absolutely meaningless to even…

this feels like a PS2 game you played at your cousins house on a small TV while sitting on the floor, you have no idea what you're doing but you're happy to spam buttons while you wait for your family to come in and tell you that you're going home i have no idea why, but that just feels right

I bought this game after seeing the really weird trailer on a Twitter ad. At first I got my ass handed to me time and time again and I was really not having a fun time. The zombies would take forever to kill, I'd keep getting the stupid drunk effect and food would randomly explode when I ate it. At first I was just going to leave a negative review and not really touch it again... but after a while, either because I'm stupid or something clicked in my brain, the game started to become fun. The Steam reviews let me down here. For all the positive reviews, looking at achievement percentages only around 7% of players have gotten even half way through the game, and for good reason. Combat is a slog, enemies often feel like damage sponges, and the general feel of the game is unpolished, grindy, and repetitive. All three playable characters are melee types, but you can throw the items you find. I say this as the boss for the fourth level is an enemy flying on a jetpack that does lock…

Janky, slow paced 3rd person action roguelike that gets a lot of its mechanics from Shiren the Wanderer (Most notably talismans). It also probably doesn't put its best foot forward, the first few stages will make you think every level layout is just corridors until you get to wide open villages/city streets. If you can overcome all this the game has surprising mechanical depth, a ton of charm, 2 out of 3 of the playable characters have genuinely interesting movesets and it plays pretty…

Mystery Dungeon + Action Game As others and the header above says, Ed-0 Zombie Uprising is effectively a mash-up of a basic action game with a mystery dungeon game. To be blunt, it's fairly fun. There's a solid foundation here in terms of systems and frankly I'd like to see a sequel that really polishes and adds more content to those systems. Despite what the description says, this game is a roguelite moreso than a roguelike. This means there is meta-progression in this game. As you play…

Pretty engaging Rouge-like if you actually push yourself to come up with strategies to overcome the challenge. Best to go in blind as possible and try to experiment with most every item and ability as all have pretty decent use in the right circumstances, with some have gigabrain uses that feel awesome discovering. All characters play pretty differently, good variation of bosses and enemies that change how you go about encounters and some good music tracks at points. Only advice would be to…

Horrible game, about the only positive I can really say is that the game’s aesthetic and graphics are kind of nice, and I like the gore effects? But even those aren’t really that good and get repetitive after a while, it’s just the same spurt and splatter you know? The gameplay itself and the roguelike loop is what killed it for me, every single upgrade I got felt inconsequential, every room felt the same, you can’t even vary that much in your combos, I remember watching the Gamebolt review…

I can play this game with a keyboard and mouse, kill swarms, and headshot undead samurai with bamboo spears. Why on Earth do people say this game is unplayable? I've played worse rougelikes, and this isn't one. Then again, I kinda want a lich Andrew Jackson in this game, so I might be crazy.... Game's pretty solid though! I bought this due to the amazing trailer, but it ended up not being any fun to play at all. Combat, the core component of the game, is incredibly stiff and unresponsive. Your character feels unequipped to deal with the hordes of enemies because animation canceling is nonexistent and many of the R1 moves don't stagger. I feel that any game that focus on melee combat should feel fun to play from moment to moment, but I was already struggling to find a reason to keep playing this in the tutorial.…

I have tried to like the game, but I can't put up with all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! The first levels are like a short tutorial of the levels and bosses the game has to offer, and then smoke and mirrors is a quest that have it all, all the bosses and 50 levels (the real run of the roguelike). 🍙 It's complicated. On the one hand, even if you're sick of rogue / souls like games, you'll still be able to like this, since it uses mechanics competently and is more designed for tactical gameplay rather than reaction. Clearing floors is satisfying, there are a lot of different items, skills, and when you make mistakes, it’s your fault, not the game or its difficulty. The dungeons are divided into chapters in different locations, and more types of enemies & such appear gradually. However,…

What you're getting with Ed-0 is a mystery dungeon that plays like a PS2 character action game, full stop. Combat is mashy, simplistic, and occasionally clunky, as character action games of that era tended to be, often punishing you disproportionately for small mistakes, but there's a real satisfaction to mastering it. Think something like Nano Breaker, Crimson Tears, or Blood Will Tell; the kind of action games that preceded the homogenization of the genre by Devil May Cry and God of War.…

Personally, i love it. Granted, roguelike/soulslike are tags commonly used and kind of played out, but thats what it is. Smart use of skill cooldowns and item pickups usually trump the dodgeroll regular attack spam of souls games, which makes the game just...feel different. And the builds are so random and have more personality than more damage/more crit. Those are there, but you can also equip a talisman that makes you blow up on like a 3 second timer. Had fun during the time I played, but I think the "roguelike" element of this game is a double-edged sword. On one hand, the combat feels good, and the extreme randomness of the game lead to some goofy fun. I once stepped on a mine which got me drunk, but I thankfully did more damage while intoxicated. However, I couldn't manage more than a few hits without vomiting and falling over. That is funny. On the other hand, I once entered an area with two extremely strong enemies that killed me…

Remember those weird PS2/PS3 era Japanese action games? This is like a remake of a made up game from that era. Ed-0 is honestly one of the most unique and promising early access titles I've played. Combat is fun and challenging, lots of room for mixing things up, 3 characters that all play completely differently, varied and interesting items and ragdoll physics on zombies that allow you to keep comboing them??? What on earth so fun! Can't wait to see how this one turns out!

Everything you see in the video is pretty much what to expect from the combat. If you played any other D3 publisher games you know what to expect. Worst thing about this game is how a run generally ends at an overpowered boss that can kill you in a couple hits and has zombie addons that grab you. Can be a frustrating waste of time. So if you're complaining about not being able to change keybinds for k+m (even though it's stupid to play with), it will be a thing eventually Combat is ok, its par for D3. ED-0 has the mechanics of a traditional dungeon crawler with the character gameplay of a hack-and-slash game. It does things well, but the biggest issue is absolutely the movement speed of characters, which is so low that I find myself permanently dedicating a bonus slot to speed and usually playing the Ninja, as both her base speed and dodge ability are much faster. If you were to mix the mechanics of a beat-em-up and the sensibilities of an old-school Japanese Rogue-like (Shiren/Torneko/etc), then this is what you get. Fun as hell while retaining that "f*ck you" difficulty those titles are known for. Every dungeon/run is randomized, not only in layout or enemy encounters but in what special attacks you find, what charms you can (hopefully) equip, items, shrines, etc. Thankfully, anything you return with from a run (money/exp) can then be used to level up…

Ed-0: Zombie Uprising is a bold and chaotic action roguelike that combines feudal Japanese aesthetics with zombie horror in a way that feels both inventive and unapologetically rough. Developed by LANCARSE and published by D3PUBLISHER, the game imagines an alternate Edo-era Japan where the nation’s isolation is violently disrupted by a mysterious undead outbreak. Rather than leaning into historical realism, the game fully embraces absurdity, pitting samurai, sumo wrestlers, and ninja against…

Grabbed it while it was on sale. Fun enough for a low price but lacks longevity.

Slapping zombies to death as a drunk sumo wrestler is pretty fun. 7/10

A really fun Zombie themed roguelite taking place in feudal Japan. I can't say much about the Samurai or the Sumo because I played Matoka the whole time for them sweet sweet ninjutsu. Lots of difficulty options and even on the hardest setting it felt fair. Graphics look good and I never had any issues with framerate or crashes.

So far its good, reminds me of an arcade game. The combat feels decent and I like the chains you can make with your attacks. I'm not that far into the game so i'll update more later.

Game is a bit janky, but quite fun. All the consumables and charms can be either used / equipped by you, or thrown into an enemy. For instance, a charm that reduces your vitality by 400 is not something you'd equip, but throw it into an enemy, and he's stuck with it and has less 400 hp now. Same applies for poison herbs, sake, etc. Being aware of those crazy interactions is almost mandatory for some of the bosses, and proper enjoyment of the game, providing you some extra depth. Initially I…

Over all I did really have a good amount of fun with this game. It definitely isn’t going to be for everyone and if you are looking for quicker rogelikes/lites there are better, faster options out there but this had a premise and combat that did peek my interest over the few other examples that I have encountered. I really wish that they had presented the story a bit better but the real meat and potatoes is the gameplay here and it is fine. Pros: Interesting mix of tools and abilities that can…
