What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 198 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (18,254 of 19,447 positive).
Players praise the game's clever puzzles and cooperative fun. [1][2][3] Some note technical issues like broken physics or Linux problems. [4][5] The community workshop and regular updates add lasting value. [6][7][8]

This game's clearly got a high production value, and is fun when it works... but it almost never works. The puzzles usually make sense, at least in hindsight. But the broken physics system means any clues not in your inventory could fall through the map at any time, or under another interactable, or behind a cabinet. It's telling where the developers' priorities lie when a game has 11 DLCs, but core systems still …

If you love escape rooms, this game is a delightfully unhinged way to test both your puzzle‑solving skills and the stability of your relationship. I played with my husband, which mostly involved me yelling “MOVE!” while he rotated objects at the speed of a confused sloth. Strangely, it brought us closer together. Trauma bonding, I guess. Those cursed tokens, though. Some of them are hidden so well I’m convinced the …

An awesome puzzle experience, clever rooms, great co-op, and tons of community content. I had so much fun with this one.

Better than the sequel. The rooms are a bit claustrophobic, especially in multiplayer, but the puzzles are a lot of fun and the aesthetics and style are great. Most of the puzzles are fair with solutions that seem obvious once you've figured them out - little to no "How was I supposed to figure that out?" moments. The extra content and free DLCs range from okay to amazing. My friends and I were able to 100% …

An awesome game to play in co-op. We've played for more than 20 hours and still haven't run out of rooms to play. The aesthetic is lovely, and the mechanics of the game are intuitive.
Summarised from 34 of the 297 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 11, 2026. How summaries are made
Players who liked Escape Simulator talk about clever and satisfying puzzles with fresh ideas; those who didn't talk about broken physics can cause items to fall through maps. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Escape Simulator received "generally favorable" reviews according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. Screen Rant described it as a great way to experience an escape room digitally, calling it an "enjoyable experience" and giving it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. GameByte praised the cooperative gameplay, saying "Much of the fun comes from playing the escape rooms with your pals." The A.V. Club considered the game "genuinely thrilling" and the closest thing gaming has to an actual escape room. The Gamer named it as one of the best multiplayer games to play without a microphone. The Escape Room Artist team mentioned that it felt close to a real-life escape room game and listed it as one of…

neutral · AI labelView post →Also: The latest fun game I’ve been playing on Steam is Escape Simulator. It’s what it sounds like — escape room type puzzles and figuring, without having to go anywhere or socialize. Some are VERY hard and I use the clues and/or walkthroughs. Others I can manage. But it’s diverting.

positive · AI labelView post →Got it with my partner thinking it would be a perfect game for just one date, but the community has sooo many well made escape rooms that we keep coming back. It doesn't have timers in the fan made levels, so you can take your time to explore. It normally loads well even for my 10 year old pc and there are like hundreds of amazing 30-45 min levels that are just so well made

neutral · AI labelView post →I'm sorry but small sparks of good puzzle design can't save the overall quality here. There is lack of clarity about interactions in every corner. Some hints are confusing. Co-op is just an afterthought, it mostly feels like playing a singleplayer game with a friend. It is full of "let me wait while you do that" moments. Also the puzzles aren't interesting enough, especially if you play puzzles games often. Personally after playing the main game and free DLCs I wasn't interested in getting all…

neutral · AI labelView post →Well made, nice designed puzzles and art, and we have been enjoying it in coop mode. Linux note: The native Linux version (installed by default) it is completely broken. The windows version works flawlessly with compatability tools built into steam. Keep this in mind when installing the game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It would be a pretty okay escape simulator, but now they show ads every time you go to the main menu. Also the game doesn't save the progress you have on the collectibles, which is also annoying.

Lethal Company is just lots of fun, we've gotten too much time out of that dumb game. Maybe check out Content Warning if you like LC but want a change. Outward is a fantastic old-school RPG for two people, has all the traits of a game from 2002 Palworld - haven't hopped back into this one since its launch but have been meaning to. neutral · AI labelView post →An awesome puzzle experience, clever rooms, great co-op, and tons of community content. I had so much fun with this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's your standard, on the easier side, puzzle game. It has a lot of the "standard" puzzle game puzzles, and those that aren't are usually solved the moment you figure out how the puzzle's mechanics work instead of having to find a clever way to use said mechanics. What the puzzles are not is repetitive, and it's amazing with how much variety they've come up with to fit the puzzles into various room themes. As for the co-op element, it's there technically, but not really gameplaywise. I count…
