tl;dr: prob the best arcade-style shmup on steam. if nothing, get it for the banger soundtrack. What is this game? This is an arcade-style shoot 'em up originally made for the XBOX 360 by a healthcare company. Yes, really. So this is shovelware, right? Nope! This is the real deal, made by devs who really understood the genre. There's influence from old arcade games (Tatsujin/Truxton) as well as more "contemporary" …

ESCHATOS is a super solid Shmup that'll take you through a 30 minute journey of 26 Areas, divided into 5 Stages, with a selection of 4 Difficulty Levels, with creative use of camera work, very well paced and challenging gameplay, and a Soundtrack I still haven't gotten tired of as I write this. The game has a lot of design elements that make the it an easy entry into what's generally (unfairly) seen as the …

This might be the best shmup of all time. Cool looking enemies, exciting nonstop gameplay, great music and explosions. I would take it on a desert island if that island had electricity.

Really nice of them to include a game alongside this amazing Yousuke Yasui soundtrack.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The kids took turns entering the living room and watching me play Judgment Silversword a bit before going "this game looks really cool, I want to play it," so I added Eschatos to their wishlists then showed them JSS on my WonderSwan, if you're wondering about how the Father of the Year race is going

I'm not sure if any other 3D models game after Ikaruga tried to match it other than Eschatos? I'm still bad at solving color puzzles tho.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the Newcomers to the genre: Keep in mind that even if a run takes around 20-25 minutes to complete, mastering the game can take you the same ammount of hours as a AAA game (between 15 to 30 hours for a 1 credit clear), so if you are new to the genre, don't be discouraged if you die a lot when you start playing, you're not a bad player, you're just learning the game. A very unique and modern twist to the classic [url=https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/STG%20Shmups]STG/SHMUPS formula…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hmmm.... I'm a shmup enthusiast and bought Eschatos because people in the shmup community speak really well about this game, also because the authors of ZeroRanger were inspired by this game. Honestly, it's not a bad game, it's just that I personally find some aspects of this game to be... lame or sometimes problematic. The camera angles are.... IDK what's up with people praising it, I honestly get confused and most of my deaths are caused by these weird angles. It's not impressive to me to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eschatos has a "quick restart" option whenever you pause the game, and im shocked that every shmup release didn't follow suit after that

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Adding one of my favourites to my PS4 shmup heap. Eschatos! Also includes the celebrated WonderSwan game Judgement Silversword, and its buddy Cardinal Sins. Three ace STGs by the mighty Qute!
positive · AI labelView post →Get both awesome shmups at a steal. Note: They're both mission based with RPG elements. It's not a straight-up action game like their previous entry, Eschatos. Ginga = vertical scrolling Natsuki = horizontal store.steampowered.com/bundle/18992...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Took like a week break from grinding Eschatos and suddenly I'm way more consistent at the game lol
neutral · AI labelView post →Area 19 is definitely the highlight of Eschatos for me. I could probably happily play a whole game worth of this type of enemy wave. Maybe I could just play some space invaders lol
positive · AI labelView post →Hardcore Gaming 101 examines Eschatos. >Eschatos is a game that boils down shoot-em-up gameplay to its bare essentials: shoot enemies, dodge bullets, battle bosses, score high, don’t die. It’s old-school and familiar, but also deliciously refreshing in its simplicity and honesty in a world filled with overly complex games that pride themselves in the depth and breadth of their mechanics; a reminder of how fun for everyone shoot-em-ups can be, regardless of age or skill level – of how the simple…
neutral · AI labelView post →It's random game Saturday and I've got ESCHATOS! This is pretty much my favorite STG on the 360, a system chock full of amazing STGs. And the soundtrack rules with real Sega Genesis vibes!
positive · AI labelView post →To quote Shmup Junkie : "Just play Eschatos"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is one of the best shmups i have ever played
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Always loved how this game looked and sounded, but never really put in the time to learn it. It's cool! Didn't end up clearing, but managed to get a new PB at the buzzer while also reaching the final boss' penultimate phase. Dropping a big chain is a special kind of pain. anyway, play Eschatos 🫵

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Qute is possibly the most underrapepeiclized dev teams ever .... what theyve ♥♥♥♥ out consistly over the course of the last two or threedacades is a lot of industry shaping gemstones. but ya know, rightyeah apparently names like treasure and cave only made shmups. and while we are here; fumuhyoucay capcom to, an plus konami and snk, too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6. Eschatos* A very hype vertically scrolling game with super hyped music. It has the classic "Earth is being invaded my Martians that have taken over the Moon" story. It's like if Space Invaders was actually invented a decade ago instead of back in the day. The enemy ships are very classic.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fight badass biblically accurate angels while listening to the goated banger soundtrack. Constant high adrenaline.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Play Eschatos. Finally got my normal all clear, the game owns. Really nice pacing, the shield mechanic is elegantly designed, the difficulty on normal is a good challenge for shmup newbies like myself, and the soundtrack is absolutely unskippable. Can't recommend this enough. Play Eschatos.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My first shooting game was Aero Fighters 2 on a Neo Geo cabinet at a naval base in Naples Italy My favorite ones are ESCHATOS (#1) Galuda 1&2 Ketsui (fav cave) Esprade DaiOujou (fav DDP) Crimzon Clover World EXPLOSION
positive · AI labelView post →Played Eschatos last night! Cool game. Vertical scrolling shmup but the movement plane isn't tied to screen space, meaning they get to do a bunch of cool perspective tricks. Great enemy designs, and you can't go wrong with a SuperSweep OST
positive · AI labelView post →Here's the full leaderboard and score tracking chart for Eschatos in the Perth Shmup Club for July 2026! @heavyviper.bsky.social dominated this game for the entire month!
neutral · AI labelView post →This game rules. It came to my attention when the developers of ZeroRanger cited it as an influence in an interview. It's a non-bullet-hell shmup (fast bullets, launched in learnable patterns) where you have three weapons that you can use at any time, one of which is a shield with a regenerating meter. The graphics are "serviceable," but they get a lot done with a little -- notably, I really appreciate the strong and stable sense of place, which really does a lot to A: help anchor your…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing Eschatos lately, genuinely really good game
positive · AI labelView post →I have a strange crush on this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In my opinion this is one of the finest shooters ever made. The balance and progression is so well executed, and the music is incredible.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →12. Game everyone should play Everyone should play more shmups, it makes you appreciate tight, arcadey game design. Play ESCHATOS
positive · AI labelView post →Quick Score: 3/5 Notes: Primary complaints involve all of the Z axis shenanigans and the graphics/readability of the game being very poor IMO. The only way I could really play the game at all was by turning off basically every single visual effect which makes it look even worse. Otherwise I thought it was decent enough, as far as shmups i have played and would recommend though this would be near the bottom of my list.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super challenging vertical shmup with godlike presentation, an ace soundtrack that hits all the sweet spots and one of the most unique encounter designs and bullet patterns that I've ever seen in the genre. Plenty of unlockables here too, there's a lot of cool little extras and features to earn besides just polishing your skills and learn the stages. There's a block button, but you'll get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ anyways because the boss fights are relentless and the final stage is freaking hell incarnate (and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm thrilled to learn you're playing ESCHATOS, my favorite shooting game! I've yet to 1CC it but it's remained a fav since 2015 Ace's Back is my fav song, and if you like Yousuke Yasui, Natsuki Chronicle and Mamoru-kun ReCursed may also be up your alley :D
positive · AI labelView post →🎶 gooms cant lieeeee 🎶 🎶 you other haters cant denyyyyy 🎶
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My personal takeaways from doing these grids: Diablo 2 is one of the most evil games ever made EDF 5 is an objectively fun game It is your moral duty to play Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord Eschatos just a really fucking banger soundtrack Arcanum in IP hell makes me weep every day
positive · AI labelView post →A fantastic game with a killer OST. Highly recommended. Took me ~45hrs for a 1cc on Normal Original. Starts off pretty light but has some teeth for sure.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I may be ♥♥♥♥ at most shmups but this is one of my favorite's and I highly recommend playing If you enjoy arcade shooters
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The secret challenge to this game is not getting distracted by the godly BGM
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've owned this game since it was originally released on the Xbox 360 years ago and have put dozens of hours into it. A simple, straight forward shoot em up with less focus on bullet hell/crazy scoring and more reflex, rapid fire decision making. Two shot types and a shield are your entire arsenal and you have to flip between them to defend yourself, it's quick and very frantic but never unfair. The alien worlds/ships you encounter the further you go and the crafty use of perspective…

Pure adrenaline in entertainment form Haven't played a STG since the year began, been occupied with DRPGs, Musou, Strategy and FFXIV, but yesterday I wanted to play a quick Eschatos run Holy frick, I was shaking. Jittering in excitement. What a game!

Not only did I finally get the physical release of one of my favourite shooters Eschatos (seriously people, if you even have the slightest bit of love for the genre, you need to play this one!), but also the incredible Rolling Gunner as well as one of my favourite arcade series ever: the Wonder Boy Anniversary Collection. 🥰 #shareyourgames #retrogaming #arcade #STG

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't ever leave reviews for games, but this one is so good that it deserves a review. This was my very first shmup and I have to say... what with the difficulty settings, different game modes, the extras you receive from playing the game frequently and of course, the unforgettable soundtrack from Yousuke Yasui, I can't easily put my love for this game into words. If you are looking around for a great shmup to play or if you just want a fantastic game to pass the time, ESCHATOS is the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Damn. That was a suprise but in a pleasant way. Pure fun. With a soundtrack that keeps you excited. Most game developers don't get that the game soundtrack makes 50% of the fun of a game. But not theses guys. They did everything right. THAT is what I define with the word Shoot 'em up. I played the Demo and immediately bought it with all DLC's. At last a SHMUP which also sounds like a SHMUP! Which is a rarity in itself nowadays. Regarding the awesome soundtrack. I will wholeheartly say it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent soundtrack. It's a 6/10 shooter otherwise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's something for everyone with System Erasure! I'm sure that Void Stranger is a good game too. ZeroRanger is my favourite shmup of all time I think, I play a lot of stuff like Touhou and Eschatos.
