The Idea of this game is great, but it has been in early access for YEARS with little progress or sign of it ever becoming a complete, polished, and playable game. I get the distinct impression this just a money grab by the developer who puts out small updates for the game just to keep people sending them cash. If it was finished it might be great, but after years of development it's not even close, and probably …

Devs build this as a throw away to match as a bootleg Elex/Risen/Gothic style es game. Devs just before the original full release ghosted the game for about a year. Then return and tell us that hey we never intended to actually release a full game and tell us they blow the money on another project. They also drop entire new update were the entire game start is replaced with about a 2 hour tutorial course with all previous game map scrapped but u dont get told that until u finish the area an get…

I don't usually review the games I play... I just consume them nowadays. If it's bad, it goes into the trash deserving my eternal silent scorn while it sits there greyed out in my library at "0.X hours played" forever. If it's good, I'm usually too busy playing to write a lengthy review, and since anything but TL;DR just doesn't cut it for me, I don't review it ever and "binge" on it until the next thing comes along. Then there are numerous early-access projects I supported, some of which…

I have to admit I LOVE this game. The dialog, the world, how it starts all add up to a must have game for me. I can't wait to play it fully fleshed. Things I love off the top of my head? - ALL the little hidey holes. OMG the caves, the waterfalls, the nooks and crannies and finding hidden loot. :) - The dialog. Shiny. - No fancy gimics or specials on the shooting. Aim and fire. Like it should be. - Maps as well maps. No blinking indicators or flashy crap. A map as a map that you…

I was excited to see where this game went when I got it, years ago. It really captures that Elex-like jank, with clunky movements, cringey dialogue, and crappy UI. Now if you've played Elex or other Piranha Bytes games, you know that they're kind of a "diamond in the rough" style of games. Underneath all the bad is a certain, inexplicable charm that while not for everyone, did manage to capture a large following. On this surface, Exo planet felt like it was going to be that. But as I dug…

The game is barely playable, half-made, bugged and outdated disaster. It is impossible to play this game. Controls are primitive and broken, animations are cheap and do not connect properly, most sounds are absent, icons missing, mechanics are crippled and dumb, level design is horrible. First of all, I've played decent amount of previous build, and it was a bit above average as a game. Now I've completed a major update and I have to set my thumbs down. Why? Is it graphics? Nope, it was significantly improved. UI? It's mostly the same and perfectly usable. There's only one major issue. Developers don't understand / don't care that gameplay is a king . Every creature on the map can be killed just by circling around it and hitting with your fists. They don't have armor or…

And the fact that the game is so enjoyable despite its unfinished state, is amazing to me. Hats off to the devs behind this game, not only for their clear, very good vision. The game is... Interesting, to say the least. It tries to take on a theme that is a cliche, but haven't been done properly. My hope is that they don't get caught up in the fiddly crafting aspects and focus on their strengths. Since we have enough of those damn crafting games. I'm all up for some basic cowboy supplies for the day to day livin', some cup o' joe, a bit of hard corn bread. Oiling your gun, swapping and improving parts. *** Updated review, old one at the bottom *** ** I leave the comment section open for you to see the commentary from the dev ** The game is clearly not abandoned. The dev's are working on it and if I could, I would put the review into neutral. Yet I can not turn it positive in good conscience. The update iterations are too low for my liking and the game is still stuttering. The engine seems quiet old (a bit like the game "Kenshi" in first person) but it has it's charms. Running on a GTX1060 and i5-6500 and I cant get more than 24fps. No setting I change increases the framerate. Wait until the game acutally runs at an acceptable framerate before buying. EDIT (10/23/2017): So apparently there was an update that improved the optimization some. It's still not quite there, as even on min settings, i get up to 48 fps. Max settings levels out at about 30.

The concept seems good and it's got some pretty visuals in terms of 3D graphics as you can see in the screen shots but I definitely wouldn't recommend it in its current state. Even among early access titles it's not very often that I'm put off so quickly by a game's basic engine. Now, keep in mind, it's early access, but its worrying that more attention seems to have been put into the visual graphics then the game's fundamental engine mechanics. The UI is pretty ugly in general, but that's…

After looking at other reviews and reflecting on it I don't think I can recommend this game. It crashed on me within the first hour, the loading times are absolutely atrocious, combat has no impact at all and it just honestly feels extremely outdated. Enemies clip through walls and floors and I've seen some odd popping in and out. It feels less like an EA game and more like an early 2000s indie game. This game is unfortunately way more ambitious than the developer seems capable of providing. They could make a great little RPG or an astounding survival game or any number of alternates. Unfortunately, they've decided to try to make ALL those games all together. They provide only the bare minimum of guidance and capability and then the community blames you for wanting "handholding" if you don't enjoy suffering through the broken systems that barely work. Reminds me a ton of Risen, only without the janky gameplay and horrible camera. Pros - It's a sci-fi Gothic-like, with richly filled in world maps that will have you merrily exploring everywhere in sight and it's shaping up to be fluffing good. Space Western setting as well that seems to work really well. All review points are subject to change (AND WILL, as the game continues to be developed!) - (Edit: A new patch has addressed several of these issues, so I will be updating this review accordingly after I have a chance to play through it again). Pros Neat combination of RPG and Survival Loot is hidden in unexpected places! Interesting dialogue choices. Decent combat. There's been multiple times that I've been running through an area for a second or third time and noticed a cave or building that I missed before that has varying loot. I am playing this game quite alot and i think i have discovere 90-98% of the whole available space as of now. there are a few early access issues and the game is ofc still in development. the content right now is approximately 10-20 hours of quests and exploring. with quite a few things still to come. the graphic is good and the story so far makes me eager to finish this game. ai for enemys is a bit weak tbh, but i am sure this will be improved in the future. the price for the game is…

I don't really know what to say so this review is useless, but I did have a lot of fun with the game.

I have played through the EA version twice with several years passing in between and a lot has been improved although content is still around 10 hours worth. Development of new content is rather slow, but when this one is finished it really will be a Piranha Bytes style space western, bugs and all. So if you like Gothic, Risen and Elex, definitely give this one a try!

development picked up a lot recently, really looking forward to this. It's like Gothic but on an alien planet, what's not to love?

This is only relevant for the beta. The new version is well worth a look and is a definite improvement over the first iteration although I was pretty happy with the existing game on the whole so please don't take that as a huge negative for the original. I enjoyed the new area even with the few minor technical issues. Asset flaws/missing, animal AI is still not improved yet and jumping can be tricky so getting stuck in terrain going places maybe you shouldn't is easy to do. Not much different…

So I wasn't going to leave a review until the game was updated some more. The reason for that is while I liked the direction and concept of the game, the first hour or 2 were absolutely horrendous to play through. It's a little like Kensai where you're just some naked schmo in the middle of the desert surrounded by way too many guys, most stronger than you, and you have to fight a lot of them to survive without a lot of context given or much of an idea of where to go next (you do get maybe…

This game seems very promising considering its still in early acess. Only thing I feel is missing is the support for controller. After my opinion, playing a 3rd person rpg like this feels alot better when you can lean back and relax with a controller in your hands.

I have about 21 hours invested in this game. I think I've explored most of the game world that is now active. If you are looking for an immersive role playing game that is actively supported by the developer, seriously consider this title. yes it's early access and there are a few rough spots but it does a good job of putting you in the character's situation. Graphics: Very Good. Maybe not equal to COD WWII, Crysis 3 or DCS World 2, but easily equal to Rage, Fary Cry 3 and 4 and maybe…

When I first started playing I had a lot of CTD's updated my drivers and game has been stable at 60 fps with a slight stutter dropping down to 20 fps then right back up. For an Alpha I have to say this is one of the most solid I have played only a couple of bugs, and when I reported them the Dev's responded with in the hour, very nice job on their part. If you liked the show Firefly you will love this game.
