Having to create third-party accounts to play a game you paid for on Steam is a cancer. Will not be buying or playing Ubisoft games moving forward.

500+ hours on PS4. 78 hours on Steam. More than 20 playthroughs. Some casual, some challenge runs, some speedruns. Far Cry 5 is one of those rare games that I never really stopped coming back to. A lot of people talk about Joseph Seed when discussing Far Cry 5, and for good reason, but what keeps me returning isn't just the villains. It's Hope County itself. Ubisoft created one of the most memorable open worlds I've …

We all know Ubisoft is just an evil company at this point but we can't deny this banger game they created Far Cry 5 delivers a satisfying mix of open-world chaos, solid gunplay, and a surprisingly engaging setting in rural Montana. The freedom to approach missions your way — whether stealthily or loud and explosive — makes every encounter feel dynamic, and the world is packed with enough side activities to keep …

Best Far Cry game, don't listen to nostalgia nerds. It has some unnecessarily hard missions but the story/setting is so good. Just play this one instead of others. All games in the series are mechanically the same, this one has the best atmosphere.

There’s just something about Far Cry 5 that makes it stand out from the rest of the series. Hope County is easily my favorite. The Montana countryside, forests, rivers, mountains and small towns create an atmosphere that I could honestly spend hours just exploring. The world feels alive and beautiful. But the biggest strength for me is the characters. Joseph Seed and his family are some of the most memorable …

78% of the 283 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Far Cry® 5. The complaint that keeps coming up: forced Ubisoft Connect causes login and access issues. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Far Cry 5 received "generally favorable" reviews, according to review aggregator Metacritic. Daemon Hatfield of IGN gave it an 8.9 out of 10, saying "Far Cry 5 is another wide-open playground with all the necessary ingredients for causing a real ruckus: loads of enemies and allies, temperamental wildlife, and plenty of explosions." Polygon gave the game 6.5 of 10 possible points, stating "It's a shame that Far Cry 5 is propped up by a weak story with bland characters, because behind the plot is an open world filled with what Far Cry as a series does best." The game's endings polarized critical opinion. Should the player choose "resist" when prompted—an ending regarded by Ubisoft to be…

No, I do NOT accept your "new terms & conditions" for something I already paid for long ago. No, you're NOT getting any "age verification documents" from me either. I'm over 60 years old, sheesh! I only got it because of the level editor anyway. But, hey ... keep it. Maybe Ubisoft could also demand passports from people who like to place trees and buildings on 3D maps. Wouldn't…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ubisoft are scam artists and frauds. I purchased Far Cry 5 in 2018, preordered the gold edition and everything. I am now completely and utterly unable to play this game AT ALL. Ubisoft decided to permanently disable and then delete my Ubisoft account (completely without my knowledge OR permission) that was linked to this game, and my other Ubisoft PC games, and they refuse to help out at all. I have a $90 game with 87 hours of gameplay, that Ubisoft won't even let me play. I don't know how this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. The most fun I had with the Far Cry series. I like the plot, the locations are beautiful, the gunplay and driving feel just right. And it runs surprisingly well on my low-end PC. Why the negative review? Ubisoft Connect. I honestly can't leave a positive view to any game with that piece of сrар included. Why on earth would you make so much trouble for the people that BOUGHT the fиcking game? It constantly creates problems with connection, synchronisation, and like 50% of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is pretty fun. Wish I could play it. For some reason my game and DCL are linked on 2 different Ubisoft accounts and the game wont even launch. Probably my fault somehow, but when I contacted support for help they basically told me to piss off and figure it out. So now I just permanently don't have access to the game anymore. I hope TenCent runs the company into the ground.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is fine. I don't like the ubisoft client and valve should have balls big enough to tell the vendors no 3rd party clients.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looking at the ubisoft sales and wanting to go back and play the game again is a terrible idea, when ubisoft adds an uncessecary layer of ubisoft connect. I've already played it before, i shouldn't need to go through another layer of log-ins. Ubisoft is a prime example of enshittification and I won't support such slop with my money or recommendations to others.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The reason is simple: the game stopped working correctly. The problem: It takes forever to load a game, something that didn't happen with my current PC. And Ubisoft is once again releasing poorly made games that stop working over time. It happened to me with Assassin's Creed Unity, then with Ghost Recon Wildlands. The former literally crashed when I walked around the environment, while the latter had the same problem as Far Cry 5. Solution: There isn't one. In fact, you'd have to mess with…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Strange. There's this really great introduction, lots of tension, very brutal, and you think you're gonna be in for a really cool story about taking down this cult of doomsdayers. Except as soon as the game lets go off the leash, you're thrust into a wacky ass game that rivals GTA Online in terms of goofiness and lack of structure. Almost literally, the intro/tutorial ends, and the game just tells you to "go nuts". I don't want to go nuts. I wanted whatever they were selling me with the first…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worst experience of my entire life. I just bought Far Cry 5. A well-reviewed game on Steam. I’ve never played a Ubisoft game before, so I had to create an account. Right off the bat, issues. Couldn't even create an account; it took me at least 10 tries just to get one made. Now, I think everything is fine, but nope. Tried playing in co-op, and we had to finish the tutorial first. Okay, I get it. Did the tutorial, but after that, nothing worked. The nightmare continued. Impossible to connect to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Farcry 5 is what games are supposed to be like. 10/10 would reccomend. Sure the cutscenes arent ultra cinematic and the bosfights arent hard, but its fun, and thats all that matters. The weapons are overpowerd, but in a fun way. You could liberate a cult outpost the hard way, by shooting it up on foot or doing it stealthy...or you could grab a chopper to blow it up in 10 seconds with rockets. The missions aree fast paced and rewarding. Honestly you could get a crack addict off of drugs with…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Verdict: This is, without exaggeration, one of the finest video games that has ever had the distinguished privilege of occupying my drive. The main story is thoroughly captivating, whilst the Arcade mode is an inexhaustible fountain of amusement. Together, they form a concoction so delightfully engaging that setting the game aside becomes an act of immense personal sacrifice. Acquiring the complete edition, accompanied by all the downloadable expansions, is an expenditure that shall yield…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Personally this is one of my favorite games in the Far Cry series, I keep coming back to it. The co-op is super fun, the graphics are still looking so beautiful to this day and the atmosphere is what makes it really special, it's just a fantastic world to get lost in. 10/10, you won't regret buying it!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is the best Far Cry game (BY FAR). it's super fun, once you pick this game up you can't put it down. the only thing that can be said about the story is that sometimes the missions feel repetitive. if you're gonna pick this for co-op gameplay, 100% recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would you pick Montana as a destination for your next vacation ? Probably not. Far Cry 5 knows this, and offers to take you there without actually leaving your house ! Why not seize the opportunity and go explore the state's verdant and mountainous hills, immerse yourself in its nature to meet its fauna, and maybe take down a little cult while you're there ? If you do love nature and casual strolls among the trees, Far Cry 5 may be the game for you. Beyond the gorgeous sights it offers, your…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing Far Cry 3, 4, and 5, I must say that Far Cry 5 was my favorite additionally compared to earlier games, gunplay is much smoother and the cult storyline is another highlight it feels in realistic way, and the whole atmosphere of Hope County really pulls you in the villains especially Joseph Seed leave a strong impression. All things considered if you have played the previous Far Cry games this one seems like a good improvement in terms of gameplay. Definitely recommend it...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The shooting is better than Far Cry 4, the music in the car is also better than in Far Cry 4, the story is nothing special.. The game is good to buy and play if it's on sale. Not worth 60 dollars..
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuinely one of my favorite games of all time, and not even just because of the soundtrack. It's a whole experience, and while relatively formulaic it's simply a good game. A good example of when Ubisoft developers reach for the stars despite management.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The tyranny of the handsome hipsters!! Far Cry 5 is a Hollywood blockbuster movie made a videogame, and I'm kinda sure Michael Bay would love seeing how roaring, bustling and bubbling everything is. So many things go boom, both literally and story-wise, and despite it being a bit on the simpler side, both as gameplay, environment and overall vibe, it punches you with some nice surprises during the main missions, with interesting endings. The companion formula seen in FC4 is made way bigger and…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Far Cry 5 is one of those games where the gameplay carries the entire experience. The story revolves around a religious cult somehow taking over a huge region of the United States and completely isolating it from the outside world. Personally, I found the premise very hard to believe. Previous Far Cry games felt more grounded in their settings, whether it was a remote tropical island or an isolated mountain kingdom. A heavily armed cult controlling a massive area of the US without an effective…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is fine because it doesn't contain the customer service and upper management of Ubisoft. Ubisoft stole my account claiming I had to prove I was the owner. I gave them receipts and a timeline of my purchases and reward redemptions. They claim it is insufficient proof and that they cannot prove I own the account. A massive Merry Kirkin, and many Luigi's to you Ubisoft
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Far Cry 5 is easily my favorite Far Cry game ever made. The story was decent and felt believable enough to stay engaging, but the real star of the game for me was the setting. I’ve never personally been to Montana, but this game makes it feel exactly how I’d imagine it to be. The nature, the towns, the people, the atmosphere... everything about it feels beautiful and immersive. Even after fully completing it, it’s still a game I could easily come back to just because of how much I love the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's alright, if you like the typical ubislop gameplay loop you'll enjoy this game just because of that. Playing this a few months after Far Cry 3 is a bit dissapointing however, the story feels incredibly messy and disjointed in comparison, I found some characters fun and the voice acting was good but I just couldn't connect with it and treat it seriously like it seemingly wanted me to. The gameplay is a fair bit smoother and most of the annoying jank from 3 is gone, however I think it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my first Far Cry and I really enjoyed the game being in Montana. Exploring, fishing, collecting, and clearing out cultists was pretty fun. There was plenty to do. I’m a person who doesn’t like traveling alone in games so having all these companions was cool. The fangs ones are all cute <3 The constant kidnappings drove me insane a bit so be prepared for that. Doesn’t matter if you are flying in the air or trying to swim away lol. You’ll get caught. And the finale? I don’t even know…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only You... Can Ignore the Plot Holes The visuals, atmosphere, and setting are amazing, with the game taking place in the stunning American countryside, which made me enjoy Far Cry 5 even more. The many ways to play whether with friends or AI companions, using different vehicles, engaging in gunfights make the gameplay genuinely fun. The variety of missions, vehicles, and weapons feels good to play with, and the boss fights are enjoyable as well. the core gameplay still feels solid, and the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a jarring juxtaposition of an "open-world" game where you have absolutely zero agency. The best part was when I got shot by bliss bullets while flying in a helicopter about half a kilometer off the ground because the story had to progress at that exact moment.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Far Cry 5 is pure open-world chaos. It’s super fun, especially when playing with friends, and messing around never really gets old. That said, missions can feel repetitive after a while, and the story/narrative isn’t very strong. Still a good time if you’re here for the gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What an Ending. So far i thought the story was okay but i really didnt see that ending coming which made it lot better. There is no good ending ffs. Far cry has the best villians hands down. Gameplay is incredibly fun, the world is stunningly beautiful and its packed with hidden details everywhere you look. The side quest and activites are very repetitive structure but the incredible level of details and unique atmosphere of each location makes them feel fresh. Even when the objective is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Far Cry 5 is one of those entries in the series that has a very strong atmosphere. Montana works great as the setting, and the theme of a religious cult really makes this part stand out. The story built around the Seed family is interesting and fits well with the world of the game, giving the whole experience a unique identity. The map is well designed and enjoyable to explore. It isn't too large, but it still offers enough space to discover new locations and complete different side…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Far Cry games are interesting as their villains are. And FC5 is no exception. FC 3 has Vaas (all time favorite), FC 4 has Pagan Min (who's my favorite) and FC 5 has The Father. Who's absolutely amazing as main antagonist! The intro to the game has to be one of THE best introes in any game ever. Seriously gotta be in top5 at least. Overall gameplay is fun really. I enjoyed playing it alone and enjoyed it even more in coop. Hope County Montana has to be one of my favorite maps in any Far Cry…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →honestly… NGL this game is criminally underrated. One minute you’re fishing in a quiet river, the next minute a pickup truck full of cultists pulls up blasting country music and trying to baptise you with bullets. And then there's me accidentally blowing up the objective with a rocket launcher The Seed family genuinely feel like the kind of people who would try to recruit you at a gas station And the cult music?? Why are the songs so good?? The game expects me to fight these…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best Far Cry I've played. Very fun co-op. This game makes me want to move to Montana. Honestly considering giving it bad review just because of Ubisoft. If I bought a game on Steam, I shouldn't have to use some other bs to play it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hope County is a great setting and the cult storyline is interesting on paper. The gameplay is fun and there's a lot to do but the story fumbles what could have been something really compelling. Still a good time despite the missed potential.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally, Ubisoft made a competitor to Manhunt. Far Cry 5 store page: 40 GB Actual install: 66.86 GB + Ubisoft "bonus features™" Good times torturing innocent civilians. Kill, revive, repeat. Infinite fun. Thanks for taking my money, time, and SSD space. Highly recommended! 10/10 experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's honestly a good game. The game can be quite buggy sometimes, but not like game breaking mostly funny/odd stuff tend to happen. But it's very buggy when you play co-op (Or as I like to call it, Desync Cry 5.), atleast in my experience with it. Would I recommend this at full price? Not really, but you do you. I love Cheeseburger, he's the best character in the whole Far Cry franchise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a great entry to the series. But Far Cry 4 is better IMO. Still, many memories were made playing this game back in lockdown, with friends in co-op. Being able to do story missions with your lads was great! And the map. Gotta be the most stereotypical hillbilly American I've ever seen. loved it. Shame the series went down the drain in the more recent entries. I guess Ubisoft never disappoints in that regard.

positive · AI labelView post →I remember playing this at launch. It was an amazing experience. (I may be bias since I was born in Montana) I think the game still holds up pretty well. I personally think this is the best Far Cry game. I've played some of the earlier ones when they came out, they are quite different than this one though. I think that's a good thing. The non-talking character you play is a bit annoying however. Among some other small things. Beside that, this game is still gorgeous and fun.

My Ubisoft account (harlanshaw) is now being closed, and even though I can still log in and have provided proof of ownership, Ubisoft support refuses to help unless I verify through an email I no longer have access to. So now I’m locked out of games I paid for. This is the real problem: you’re not actually buying a game on Steam—you’re renting access through Ubisoft Connect. If…
