There should be a law against requiring kernel level anti-cheat/DRM in single player games. That software is basically spyware with the developer pinky promising to be responsible for their security and not to screw you over by selling the data it scrapes from your device. Worst part is they added it in later on well after the period for returns was expired.

If you've played a Far Cry game before, you know the drill: vast open world, outposts to capture, and a charismatic villain. Far Cry Primal takes that foundation, wipes the slate clean, and proves that the core formula is strong enough to thrive even without modern tech. This isn't just a Far Cry game; it's a profound survival simulator draped in an action-adventure shell. The most immediate thing that grabs you is …

Far Cry: Primal - What is there to say? The hand-crafted stone age environment is so well realised, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more immersive open world to explore and play in. Plus, you can command beasts to stand and fight/hunt alongside you. You are the Beastmaster. If you're at all interested in the idea of living in 10,000 BC you won't be disappointed. 4/5 for the gameplay, which involves hunting and …

Unpopular opinion, best Far Cry by far. No guns, more creating your own weapons and useful items. Making and populating your own village. Just all around a good game and an amazing time killer!

Far Cry® Primal is an exhilarating journey back to the Stone Age, offering a truly unique twist on the open-world formula. Stripped of guns and modern weaponry, every encounter becomes tense, immersive, and deeply satisfying. You feel the raw thrill of survival as you hunt mammoths, tame dire wolves, and engage in brutal tribal combat. The world of Oros is breathtaking — from misty forests to frozen mountains and …

Critics, per Wikipedia
According to the review aggregator website Metacritic, the Windows version of Far Cry Primal received "mixed or average" reviews from critics upon release, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions received "generally favorable" reviews. Destructoid's Kyle MacGregor spoke positively about how the game depicts violence towards animals and the survival aspects in general, saying that they were designed with realism in mind. He also felt that the animal companion mechanic was one of the game's strongest elements, saying that it has "limitless potential". In regard to the choice of setting, he felt it was a welcome and natural evolution in the Far Cry series. However, he described the story…

You are REQUIRED to have an Ubisoft account in order to play this game, even though you bought it on Steam. My email address has changed because I graduated from university. I went into my Ubisoft account to change my email address, and they REFUSE to allow you to change your email address until you verify a link that they send to your registered email address. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game with great graphics (better than GTA V Enhanced). Amazing optimization (on my PC I get 220-280 fps in 4K Ultra settings without DLSS and Frame Generator)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought it a while ago, decided to play it recently. Automatic login on the Ubisoft app failed (obviously, its Ubisoft). Tried logging in manually and it told me that my "Account is temporarily suspended due to multiple login attempts". Can't even login so there is no way to raise a support ticket Only a truly horrible company would make it so difficult for players to play their own games bought with their own money. Maybe I can still get a refund, burn in hell Ubisoft.

It's obviously an ubisoft game but, much like ghost recon wildlands, it felt like they didn't go too heavy on the formula for once. There's still a bit of it - drug fuelled vision missions, at least one forced capture but, for the most part, you've just got a beautiful open world, lots of stuff to do in it and some fun tools to do it with. And there is a lot to do - loads of upgrades to get, lots of different random…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, I didn’t expect to like Far Cry Primal this much. At first I was confused—no guns, no vehicles, just sticks and stones. But after a few hours, the game really pulled me in. The world feels alive. Walking through forests, hearing animals, and suddenly getting attacked by a tiger or bear feels intense. Nights are scary in a good way—you actually think twice before going out because visibility is low and predators are everywhere. Using fire to survive at night feels very natural.…

It throws you into a world that truly feels like the Stone Age, where dangerous beasts roam freely and tribal clans fight to rule the land. The graphics, gameplay, and action kept me engaged throughout the entire journey. Every battle feels meaningful, and watching the different tribes struggle to survive alongside their people creates an immersive and believable world. The game…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2nd best far cry. The ubisoft devs are great, the business side is what gives them such a terrible name. Not a lot of devteams would invest in hiring master linguists to develop a historically accurate caveman dialect of PIE (Proto-Indu European) for a mainline spinoff, but they did, and I appreciate that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Far Cry Primal ended up being my favorite entry in the series so far. Going into it, I expected another Far Cry game with a different setting, but it surprised me by fully committing to its prehistoric world instead of simply reskinning the usual formula. Looking back, you can really see the progression across the series. Far Cry 3 laid the groundwork, Far Cry 4 expanded it with new mechanics and quality-of-life improvements, and Primal took the biggest risk by stripping away modern weapons and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, Far Cry Primal delivers a unique spin on the open-world formula. It’s not just Far Cry without guns — it’s Far Cry reimagined through the lens of primal survival. If you want modern combat or deep narrative complexity, look elsewhere. But if you're after atmospheric world play, satisfying encounters, and a different kind of open-world freedom, this one hits hard.

When I first saw the game, I already thought the idea of a Far Cry set in the Stone Age was really cool, and in my opinion, it was implemented very well. I especially liked the atmosphere. The cave paintings, the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Brutal, Visceral Masterpiece of the Stone Age After sinking 41 hours into the valley of Oros and securing 51 out of 55 achievements, I can confidently say that Far Cry Primal is the most refreshing and atmospheric departure the franchise has ever taken. While the series is traditionally defined by highmoctane gunplay and explosive vehicles, Primal succeeds by stripping everything away and forcing you to get personal. There is a primitive, tactile satisfaction here that modern shooters just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably the best Far Cry game, with a setting and systems that set it apart from its peers. Very interesting mechanics, a decent combat system, beast taming, an immersive setting that feels really lived-in and authentic. The story is simple, but it has satisfying moments scattered throughout. What really makes this game stand out is its survival mode. The world feels much more immersive, changing up predator spawns and making every encounter very deadly. You really feel like a caveman,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First playthrough review time. Far Cry Primal is set in a time long before modern tools, and that’s where most of its difference lies. The world feels detailed and immersive, showing forests, rivers, and wildlife in great shape. There is a strong focus on survival, with dangers coming from both nature and people. The setting helps the game stand out, and some systems are added to match the time period. There’s also a mode that makes the game harder and brings in more survival rules, which can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just finished **Far Cry Primal** for the second time, and honestly… I still don’t get why people say this is the worst Far Cry. Yeah, I’ve heard all the complaints no guns, no big iconic villain, “it’s just Far Cry 4 reskinned”… but after playing it again, this game feels way more unique than most of the series. The biggest thing is the setting. You’re in 10,000 BC, no minimap clutter, no helicopters, no chaos with rocket launchers just you, a spear, and a forest that actively wants you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are fan of the Far Cry gameplay loop, Primal is a worthy addition to the concept. The combat is enjoyable, however the level of gore could be turned up a notch. However, if you don't find it important to wail on already beaten enemies with a club, and expect to be able to further mutilate the corpses of your enemies, the gore level is ok. The gameplay loop integrates well with the added settlement building mechanic. There are occasionaly boobs visible on females, which I think is a…

I’d just get lost in the world, exploring every corner, hunting, gathering… doing the same things over and over, but somehow it never felt boring. There was always something new to discover, or some small goal that kept me going just a little longer. What I loved most was how immersive it felt. It wasn’t just a game I played casually it was a…

If you are a fan of prehistoric times and want to enjoy action using only a bow and spear, and you are overwhelmed by modern weapons, then this game is definitely for you. Visually, I have to say the game looks truly phenomenal for a 2016 title, and it is clear that the Dunia engine has come a long way. The soundtrack is very well done and helps further enhance the immersion…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Far Cry: Primal is a weird game, I came into this expecting a very similar experience to Far Cry: Blood Dragon. A Far Cry experience that's fairly short but tells a decent story and has the classic Far Cry game play. This game is not that. After 23 hours I had finally made it through the story compared to the 8 hours of Far Cry: Blood Dragon. Because of that however the charm of the caveman premise has to last three times as long and unfortunately for me it did not. After a dozen or so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Far Cry Primal is one of the most unique games in the Far Cry series. Instead of guns, vehicles, and modern cities, the game takes you back to the Stone Age, where survival depends on hunting, crafting, exploring, and mastering the dangerous wilderness. You play as Takkar, a hunter trying to rebuild the scattered Wenja tribe in the massive world of Oros. The animal-taming system is easily one of the best features. Instead of relying on guns and vehicles, you can tame animals and use them as…

Ubisoft finally added Steam achievements and I discovered I was missing new ones: the Survival Mode achievements. So, me - beeing FC veteran and knowing how "hard" these game are I jumped in. With graphics and gameplay that still holds up today, Far Cry Primal is a beautiful and engaging game that goes so far as to feature a unique language created specifically for immersion. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game looks pretty, but I just may be an old gamer. When everything is marked on a mini map for you and you hit "V" to see everything, the game is too easy. Why does Ubisoft make all their games for the lazy gamers? I would dismiss as a console game as I expect PC games to be more difficult and less hand holding. I'm sure compared to the other lazy console games this one may be fun, but where is the challenge? The first Far Cry game was awesome. Since then they just seem to dumb everything…

Serious review, it is about a man who lost his bro went on a solo adventure and meet up with a tsundere girl who obsessed with ears play and a furry who likes to get high on his own supply and later joined by caveman Patrick with migraine and a Soldier from tf2 to take down a family (cave)man and a psycho girl with nice tatas. It is a short adventure but fun. Buy it on sale because it's cheaper than Lays chips.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →100% Complete | 53h at review I'm a big fan of the Far Cry series, and Primal remains one of my favourites. The change in formula while keeping those familiar Far Cry undertones makes for a refreshing take on the series, and it's a genre shift I'd love to see Ubisoft explore more. Oros is a beautiful world to explore, with the animal companions being one of the best additions. The story is fairly basic, but it makes sense within the world and does what it needs to. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The strangest Ubisoft game of all time. Y'all, think about it - their own voice-acted language for primitive people, which even in the subtitles sounds like machine translation. There are so many immersive things here: the insides of corpses, the ability to set fire to some objects. Of course, it's all static objects in the world or placed in special spots for this, but for a Ubisoft game, it's already colossal work on the environment, and that can't be ignored. The same, something not typical…

Every moment feels raw, immersive, and unforgettable from taming a giant bear, killing cavemen to surviving in the breathtaking wilderness of Oros. The nostalgia is immense—coming back to it feels like stepping into a masterpiece that time has only made better. It's one of those rare games that proves you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll keep this simple. If the game is on sale for like £2 then its a good deal, anything else then absolutely not. The main issue is that the story is beyond uninteresting and progress is way too fast so most time spent is chasing through the story without much more progression. That'd be fine if the story was at all interesting. Takkar is a boring protagonist and your villager friends get old real fast. Animal mounting controls feel terrible and is not even remotely useful in combat…

Super immersive, well balanced, quite unique setting. I was expecting to get bored after a while, I was imaging a walking sim with a bow but no, it was a very positive surprise. I started playing this game in normal mode and when I had already completed 30% of the game I decided to start over again but in survival mode, with permadeath on and expert difficulty. I…

All the staples are there: grappling hooks, capturing outposts, unfunny Hurk skits -- just not that many towers to climb, although they're definitely around (unfortunately sans ziplines, as those obviously hadn't been invented yet). So, yeah, you're Takkar, Beast Master and…
