TL;DR: Starts like buried treasure, plays like loose change. Flick Shot Rogues makes a strong first impression. You’re a pirate slinging yourself into enemies like a cannon ball, clearing encounters, progressing across regions, and taking down bosses. At first it feels like a keeper, but soon you realise the first impression is the only one it has. With no evolving mechanics, every run ends up feeling the same. …

It's fun, it's inventive, and if you like the look of the gameplay from the Steam page then you probably won't be disappointed. With that said, the game suffers from giving inadequate information to the player, in several ways that limit your strategic options. What a fantastic roguelike. Great execution of a cool concept. If you've played a billiards video game before, you know how to play this game. Now what if your cue ball was a pirate trying to get the buried treasure on a cursed island? I'm having so much fun with this game. Been following the development for a while now and I can safely say it launched as the best version yet. There's a lot of depth between the character duos, starting equipment, upgrade paths, and pathing decisions mid run to keep me coming back. If crokinole and Slay the Spire had a pirate baby, it would look a lot like this fun, quirky game! Really enjoying the novel flicking mechanic, and the enemies feel threatening without being unwinnable. So far, so good!

Flick Shot Rogues has a great hook. The idea of lining up a shot and flicking your hero across the board, chaining collisions and combos, is tactile and satisfying. There's skill in reading the board, judging angles, and shooting your disc through a crowd of crabs and monkeys to set off a chain reaction. The game is at its best when it forces you to bounce your guy into a few walls and enemies, needing you to predict the trajectories beyond the aim markers (though it feels like you should have…

Obligatory "what a shame Steam doesnt offer a neutral view" disclaimer. "Deep as a Puddle" is a phrase I think this game suits very well, I agree with the other negative Reviews. In 1 run you will have seen every normal enemy this game has to offer. In 3 runs or so you will have seen every boss and every arena this game has to offer too. With playtime you unlock more characters, more "weapon modifiers", more "relics" and more choices you can do in your run. However with the lack of…

A lot of things in the game are ultimately frustrating and poorly signaled, and I thought it was going to be a problem exclusive to the demo. It isn't. Some notorious examples are: Enemies will sometimes target you instead of the ground. But you can get out of their effective range, which isn't properly tutorialized or taught to the player. Some enemies will target you in a beam, and you can also dodge that, but only sometimes and only if you leave an effective range that you also cannot…

I liked the core gameplay mechanic and the combos, but missed a little challenge. I successfully finished on the first try, and thought it was because the tutorial gave me relics that helped me a lot. But then I went on another run on the newly unlocked difficulty, and even when trying mechanics I wasn't familiar with, I successfully completed the run, and the next one was the same. So, I finished the game at 100% First of all, once you beat the final boss, you unlock higher difficulty levels. The base one is super easy, but the next ones ramp things up with tougher enemies, more of them, and different curses that debuff your characters. The higher the difficulty, the harder it is to start — but once you get rolling, you can snowball hard with the right combos. Even though I really enjoyed it (and I'd totally recommend it — it's a lot of fun), there are also some things…

“A Clever Idea That Fights Against Itself” Flick Shot Rogues immediately caught my attention because it tries something genuinely different from most roguelikes out there, and I’ll always respect developers willing to experiment instead of copying trends. I really like the core gameplay mechanic and the satisfaction of lining up a great shot (sometimes unexpectedly so) combined with the tactical choices of where to attack with which character, or when to play defensively. Conversely, unexpected movement can really mess you up, but getting to know the enemies’ moves helps plan for it, and the update that added descriptions of enemy abilities alleviates unpleasant surprises. There is a fair amount of build variety considering each character…

Great little game to scratch the itch of both flicking game and roguelike. It's a little weird at first as some of the interactions aren't explained and you just have to figure them out as they happen... BUT it is well worth it afterwards. Currently on doom 6 (think StS ascension levels) and still loving it. Higher doom levels really make your early levels feel weak, but once the engine gets going there are some great combos and dopamine hits with huge turns.

Fun little game but feels lacking. Feels chaotic and random. Sometimes skills don't trigger like they are supposed to. Some skills and heroes are way better than others so at higher doom levels you are forced to pick certain heroes and skills. More options for the main route in the map could have been implemented with more biomes and more diverse enemies. Game has potential to be really fun but for lack of balance and content I cannot recommend the game in its current state. Wait for sale or…

It is a very well made game. The core gameplay is fun and the battles require more than meets the eye strategic skill. Positioning plays a good rule as well as the ability to group the enemies accordingly. When it comes to player movement it strikes a good balance between predictability of your own actions as well as riskier outcomes. The characters are all interesting, thou they seem a bit unbalanced or simply some are only coming to a whole after earning some upgrades. It seems to me that…

It's alright. There's a really good game here until you get to higher difficulties and the randomness of chain bouncing around that you couldn't possibly account for as enemies fill the arena create what feels like pretty much unmanageable chaos which results in a lot of runs just going in the toilet. Stops feeling fun then. After a chain of 6 guys all nudging each other you get slightly inched into a damage zone which takes half your entire life? Nah, I'll move on to stuff that's more…

Neat idea, but kind of underwhelming and too easy to the point of it feeling grindy. The character abilities feel more like challenges as they aren't very intuitive nor feel very rewarding, and the perks you gain along the way don't feel all to exciting either... probably because the levels themselves, especially the early ones, don't feel like much of a challenge, eliminating the itch to grow your character. Only took a few tries to win my first run.. and the "+" runs just seem the same…

Fun concept but not very well made for the listed price. There are a lot of inconsistencies but the worst part is that the bouncing predictor is often incorrect. And seeing as it is very core to the main gameplay, thats no good... It plays like a playtest, not like a 15 buck finished game, as it's not very balanced and feels unfinished. For example, the game hints that it's good to be nice to the rocks and "the will remember this" if you steal from them. But then there are no consequenses for…

It's quite good, although it can be completed fairly quickly. I'm still giving it a thumbs up because the base experience satisfies what it sets out to do without it being too shallow or too complex. If the game receives new updates of content, enemies, and levels, shuffled together for a more randomized or endless experience, it would greatly help its replay value.

Flick Shot Rogues was genuinely such a pleasant surprise for me. I got this in a bundle, expecting it to be a great idea with a bad execution. But this game does such a great job at making the most out of it's unique concept, and it is so very very fun. You have 5 characters, each with two variants to unlock. It’s basically an *interactive* Slay the Spire, which makes the whole experience even more engaging. Warning: Anyone with ADHD who doesn’t take the time to plan their moves will have a rough time, because rushing decisions will definitely punish you. P.S. How do devs still release games without customizable keybinds? (ofc i know how to setup my own keybinds, but its just weird lol)
