What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 186 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (298 of 339 positive).
Players praise the creative blend of Pac-Man, Superhot, and Vampire Survivors mechanics. [1][2][3] Some find the game lacks variety in enemies, levels, and upgrades. [4][5][6] The game is described as fun but shallow, with limited replayability. [7][8][9]

Man... as a big fan of the developer (of Luck Be a Landlord fame), I genuinely wish I could give Maze Mice a full-hearted recommendation. Alas, where the game excels in production it falters in gameplay, specifically when comparing the experience with its roguelike peers. It's also worth noting that the developer has communicated an unlikelihood of improving the game beyond balancing and debugging. Pros + Promising …

In a year filled with indie juggernauts like Megabonk and Ball X Pit, this one mostly seems to have slipped under the radar. They took the gameplay loop of Pac-Man, combined it with the core mechanic of SUPERHOT, and blended it together with the Vampire Survivors upgrade system. The result is a game that's fun to play and engaging to learn. The game has a notable lack of variety, with most of the different playable …

EEEE THIS GAME IS SO GOOD!!!!1!!! Imagine Pacman + Superhot + a roguelike autobattler and you pretty much get the gist addictive like you wouldn't believe, fun as hell and the production values are EXCELLENT (this games OST will live in your head) lots of cool powerups and also lots of cute characters that might actually lean towards your playstyle better (LUNA MAINS RISE UP!) just an incredible game and right now …

Picked this up after seeing LocalThunk plugged it, and I'm so glad I did. I'm liking it even better than Vampire Survivors, and it's just getting better as more and more stuff gets unlocked and more interesting and synergistic builds become possible. Support this game and support this developer! Luck Be A Landlord was great, this is great, and I'll be picking up their next game, too, no question.

in hindsight, combining pac-man and vampire survivors seems like it should have been an extremely obvious thing to do. but it took maze mice to show us the way. thanks maze mice. this game has the sauce

neutral · AI labelView post →I wished this game had more content. I was having a good time and expecting more variety when I beat it. I was expecting more levels. Not sure if I can recommend.l as is. It has great ideas but doesn’t develop them. Beating the game was repetitive and not enjoyable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While not a bad game, I wouldn't recommend this as it gets stale very quickly. The game is missing multiple replayability roguelike elements from Vampire Survivor type games. It also doesn't feel nearly as polished or tuned. - No "final form" for upgrades/ no synergistic support + weapon combos so upgrading feels boring with no end goal. - Upgrades aren't tuned and are just simple value increases, this means certain upgrades like decreasing time of the shield are more powerful than others. -…

neutral · AI labelView post →Cool idea but ultimately not very interesting to play, it gets boring relatively quickly. Progression feels aimless because you don't actually know how or when you unlock new things (or at least I can't figure it out). Unlockable characters don't really introduce anything new since the only difference is the starting weapon. The UI is unpleasant to use. The buttons don't stand out well, they're not highlighted well when selected and they're extremely spread out on opposite ends of the screen…

neutral · AI labelView post →As close to an unfinished game as it gets without being actually unfinished. 4 levels, 2 enemy types, 1 boss that is just a larger one of the enemy types. That's it. A bunch of unlockable items, many of which aren't especially useful. Unlockable characters that only differ by starting item, so they are all interchangeable. In their 1.0 release notes the developer notes that the game didn't sell well, which more or less backs up the pseudo unfinished state of the game. It's a shame,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah this game is sort of half baked. The idea is cool with the whole nothing moves if you don't move, but everything else is about as bare bones as they come. The different levels are terrible and you'll find yourself going back to the first one a lot. The different mice are all the same with just a different starting skill, but nothing else. There are 3 total characters in the game who have slightly different colors to indicate they are tanky or not and there's only 1 boss character that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very cute game but there's just not enough content or varied gameplay options to justify the pricepoint in my opinion there's two enemy types, every character is just "start with X item", the progression is completly based on playtime, there's only one pick-up (without counting upgrades, which take a slot each), only 4 slots avaliable for weapons and 4 for passive with no means to upgrade or spice the gameplay up in different interesting ways... I expected it to open at any minute only to be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Y'all, finally gave @trampolinetales.com's Maze Mice a try. It starts out feeling like a pretty calm Pacman/Snake game, but with the roguelite elements, it quickly becomes a tricky puzzler for figuring out the best weapon combinations to finish the stage
positive · AI labelView post →First, let me get it out of the way: the gameplay is great, that’s not why I’m giving it a negative review, But I don’t want to sit here and rant about all of the things this game does wrong. I think the core idea is amazing… it’s just needs a little bit more polish. Starting with the positives. Music is amazing, as of right now I love it and hopefully I won’t get tired of it. The gameplay is also amazing. the usual survivors-like formula is plagued with the “kite enemies in circles” movement…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Other negative reviews have put it best, the idea is not bad but it gets stale real quick. The upgrades don't feel impactful and there's not any real synergies. If it were presented as just a 4-8 hour one off mini vampire survivors clone I could easily recommend it, but because of how the progression and achievements are structured, it's completely padded and designed to be a monotonous time sink. There are 30 characters all with their own 5 difficulty ascensions that need to be completed…

Took me 13h to finally unlock and beat the 4th maze. There's many more achievement, but I'm good. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

neutral · AI labelView post →Maze Mice is really fun and the perfect length for a video game: it lasts exactly as long as its gameplay is enjoyable. I was pretty much done with the game at the same time that I unlocked the final things, which, to me, is perfect design.
positive · AI labelView post →Pretty disappointing, especially for the $10 asking price. I was expecting more from the Luck Be a Landlord dev. There's only a handful of levels and 5 difficulties. Characters only differ in the item they start with. Item balance doesn't seem great. The popcorn passive seems really good compared to a lot of other passive options. A lot of passive upgrades feel too inconsequential compared to weapon upgrades. A neat idea, sort of like Pac-Man meets Vampire Survivors with a dash of Snake, but…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's alright. Not particularly engaging after a couple of hours, but if you're looking for something to mindlessly do while listening to a podcast - this fits the bill
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way too simplistic. Just unlock the second level, and then play with each character at difficulty 5, just running in a loop around the map and you are done. No need to try other levels because there doesn't seem to be anything new to see. They're all the same, with just a different layout. The unlocks are mostly forgettable as well
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Maze Mice is a charming and deceptively thoughtful roguelite that takes the simplicity of classic maze-chase games and rebuilds the formula around strategy, timing, and modern bullet-heaven design. Developed and published by TrampolineTales, it places you in control of a tiny, determined mouse navigating tight, shifting mazes while hungry cats pursue you from every direction. What makes Maze Mice immediately stand out is its signature mechanic: time only moves when you move. This single…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A unique and interesting idea for a vampire survivors-like, but also unfortunately one of the most bare-bones ones I've ever played. Once you've played the game for 10 minutes you'll have seen everything it has to offer; You'll still have 90% of the roster and items to unlock, but the only difference between characters is what item they start with, and the items offer very little difference in gameplay or strategy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredible game. Love the maps, which there is an average amount of. I was honestly only expecting 3, the 4th is very interesting and keeps the game fresh. Tons of fun upgrades! though some do feel useless - or maybe I just never leveled them up enough (toothpicks, beams) Lots of characters too, so you can always start with what you want. LOVE it. And the no-rerolls or saves is nice, too - forces you to work with what you have. And have reroll as a pick itself is nice - (gotta say i never…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cute! really clever fusion of genres, charming art, genuinely a super fun time killer of a game. why is this a negative review? well, because it needs a few things to actually shine here. On the design side, this is a "bullet heaven" type game -- a Vampire Survivor clone, in as many words -- mixed with a maze runner. works really surprisingly well as a genre mashup, and the weapons are designed to work well with it! but like VS, you have limited slots for upgrades when you level -- four…

neutral · AI labelView post →I guess a good idea, but the game is quite boring and doesn't bring much depth or anything
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Most every game I can think of when it comes to games, most people have already suggested. Though I haven't seen **Feudal Tactics** ( available on fdroid ) mentioned. The game isn't all that complex, but it can be time consuming on larger maps. I also just looked something up and **Maze Mice** from TrampolineTales ( the Luck Be A Landlord dev/team(?) ) is available on the play store, if you don't mind paid apps. Cannot say what the price is in other currencies, but $4.99USD is the price I saw.
neutral · AI labelView post →For games currently out and available: • Slay The Spire ( a bit more than just something to pass the time with IMO, but again, it's a direct port from PC ) • SuperTuxKart ( I personally don't like the mobile version over control issues I have, but it's still real fun IMO, if you like good kart racers ) • Feudal Tactics ( definitely a time passer on smaller maps ) • HyperRogue ( trippy non-Euclidean game ) • Shattered Pixel Dungeon ( I suck at it, but it's a fun enough dungeon crawler ) •…

positive · AI labelView post →I actually have a Pacman rogue-like design doc created, from a few years back, so seeing this one pop up piqued my interest. Luckily, it's completely different from my own concept. Unfortunately, it's also confusing, doesn't ramp up properly, has limited replay value, and hits less hard than all of its inspirations. The best thing I can say about this one is that it's relaxing to play. You get into a sort of zen state as it's never especially challenging, but it is always moving and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pacman rougelike. The skills are fairly simple and without too many strategizing options compared to other rougelikes, but the music is great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4.5/10 its a mobile game of mobile quality, not much here at all would get on deep sale - no way to banish upgrades. - rerolls are locked to an upgrade slot that takes up one of 4 you get. far better to take something else - only 4 maps all with the very same enemies. - 3 enemies in this game. cat, flying ghost, boss flying ghost almost all my play time is afk card farming
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this as a base to a game. It's very satisfying with it's gameplay loops, and a PERFECT way to get a quick steamdeck sess in before before bed. However I'm going to hit dislike becuase the devs clearly did not know what they had here and in my opinion left the game unfinished despite being decently polished. I'll upvote if ANY new content comes up ever. I would pay twice the cost of the base game for DLC if it did the following: Balanced items, make the more niche ones far…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just bumping my suggestion for the library sorting game: “Librarian: Tidy up the arcane library” But for a fun roguelike, there’s Maze Mice, it’s like a pacman maze running roguelike? It’s pretty fun
