Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 44 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (63 of 70 positive).
Some note the game is short and lacks content variety, especially in weapons and bosses. [1][2][3]

I've been playing this game for a bit of time, I cleared the second boss. Here's my quick review on this game: The good: -Music is a banger. -New QTE crafting system, which is fresh, but can be improved. The "can be improved": -The biggest flaw this game has is the "dopamine hit". After playing for ~10-ish cycle, I've basically seen every iteration of the skill that we can get from the game, there's nothing to …

First, I was quite familiar with the local Indonesian developer "Glory Jam," having played and thoroughly enjoyed even unlocking 100% of the achievements for their previous title "Hello Goodboy" which featured a beautiful art style and a simple yet unique story. Additionally, one of their game testers, @fabahrulous (@playerdua), recommended Glory Jam's upcoming project, "Grim Trials" which draws inspiration from …

Looks like a cheap knock off of Hades when you first start playing. Trust me, it's not.

Hi, I'm not gonna touch too much on if you should buy the game, just try the demo if that's your why you're here. My one and only complaint for the devs, is that after beating the game, it feels like there's nothing to do. I beat the final boss long before unlocking the full tree, but runs are so easy between having great gear and no boss rematches unless you go out of your way, but then you're still missing the …

Grim Trials is an enjoyable action roguelite, with crafting and build customization being its biggest strengths. Gathering materials, crafting equipment, and combining it with skills and blessings gives you a reason to keep experimenting. Unfortunately, the amount and variety of content left me wanting more. Bosses, enemies, and weapon options feel limited. I finished the game in around three hours without …

neutral · AI labelView post →Short and sweet roguelite with a gearing/crafting twist. Your quest is to defeat 7 sinful souls spread across 4 worlds/biomes. I completed the game to 100% (minus the skill tree) in 9 hours and 40 minutes of in-game time. Don't worry about crafting, the game respects your time. There's a QTE minigame whenever you craft gear. Nail every prompt and you'll create a mastercrafted item. Miss a few (or all of them) and you'll receive a weaker version instead. Thankfully, you can easily reforge those…

neutral · AI labelView post →Its got good bones. But the powers and upgrades are boring/terrible. When the upgrades are the least interesting thing on a rougelite then its been done wrong. Ill check back in a few months to see if they did something with their odd upgrade choices. There are a few decent action rogues with exiting powers to take a look at. This ain't it

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really, really enjoyable! I played the demo and absolutely loved the music, especially the metal soundtrack combined with the Reaper theme in this action roguelike. One of the hidden gems of this game is the crafting system. You can craft weapons and equipment that support different playstyles, giving you a lot of freedom in how you want to play. I highly recommend checking this game out ASAP. It deserves way more visibility!

positive · AI labelView post →Grim Trials is an Action Roguelike about a girl named Avelin where she wakes up in a place after dying and she has to go through what is called "Grim Trials" challenges and defeat the sinful souls in order to find out more about the truth of this place. The game starts off a bit tough because you won't have any skills or gear to equip, but as…

neutral · AI labelView post →This game was not what I expected in an era where rougelites are far too common. This game stands out for its story that connects existential issues. NPCs further enhance the story; combat is simple and engaging due to the quest that requires you to change builds but also rewards you for the attempt. Rouge lite can be complex at times, but this game makes it really simple and easy to digest. Great game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A wonderful mix of genres of dungeon crawler, RPG and roguelike. Every level is randomized, but not crazily so. In time you'll learn to orient yourself throught the map layout. The story is great, reminded me of Silent Hill in some aspects, I won't spoil here, you just have to experience it yourself. The crafting mini-game is fun, but for people that has good relationships with rhythm, haha. The only thing that was lacking for me is more weapons and the russian localization, I saw so many…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Huge congrats to @rollinggloryjam.bsky.social for the launch of Grim Trials! A game I saw early at Xbox and fell in love immediately. The team has a good sense for what makes a Hades-like and elevate it in their own way. Honored to have supported it and so proud to see the launch ❤️

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →played the demo , great game really liked the weapons and the combat .
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UPDATE: The first boss of the game has been balanced so it shouldn't take you too long to beat it now. Art is beautiful and the music is very good. Definitely the strongest part of the game. Gameplay loop is pretty solid. You go to combat, collect resource, most likely die, and then go back to the academy to craft potions and gears for your next run. Its probably good idea to do grocery runs to stack up resources and potions until you're really ready to fight the boss. The first part of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game immediately gave me HADES vibes and drew me in, but it's so much more. It has an amazing soundtrack, an interesting storyline, and lots of different ways you can play the game. I actually don't mind the fact that there isn't any "save point" with this game, because it encourages me to go back and upgrade things or check out things I wouldn't normally. This game is a easily addictive game, and I am excited to see where it goes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun game, reminds me a bit of Hades. It's shorter but adds a fun gear crafting aspect to it. There's a QTE event which is a different spin and adds a little bit more during the crafting process. You sometimes get stuck in the terrain and get stuttering but overall, I would recommend picking this up if you enjoyed the Hades games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First, I’d like to congratulate "Glory Jam" on the official release of the game *Grim Trials*!!! The gameplay is incredibly fast-paced, blending melee and ranged combat. There are so many customization options available that you’ll never get bored experimenting with different builds and strategies. And let's not forget the combat, it’s accompanied by heavy metal music that really gets your adrenaline pumping! The story is quite unique, featuring plenty of NPC interactions that provide extra…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who really enjoys Hades, Grim Trials immediately clicked with me, but I also like that it brings a very different vibe to the action roguelite formula. The crafting system might be a bit hit or miss depending on what kind of player you are. I can imagine some players wanting to jump straight into the action without spending too much time crafting and customizing their equipment. But as someone who enjoys crafting games, I actually found the balance between combat and crafting really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had so much fun playing Grim Trials! I’m honestly not very good at this kind of game, so learning the mechanics and figuring out how everything works took me quite a bit of time. But somehow, I managed to beat Sinful Soul 1 after only 2 hours of playing. That felt like a huge achievement for me!!! 😂 The game is really fun, challenging, and satisfying once things start to click. I’m definitely going to keep playing until I can kill all the bosses. One important tip for anyone…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super Fun! It makes me lose track of time. No complex mechanics. You can just sit back and relax while dodging all the annoying projectiles. I really love the art style too
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A neat little roguelite that puts a bit more emphasis on crafting while also pulling back on the mid-exploration progression. I think for people who like the chaotic action elements on roguelites but aren't a big fan of RNG determining their runs too much, this is the game for them. While I'm not that far in, my biggest gripe is probably about weapon variety. I'm sure the variety opens up a bit more further down the line, but early into the game your choices are basically non-existent. This…

positive · AI labelView post →Completion(?) #152 - Grim Trials Feel a bit dirty after this I’m ngl. A game that was accidentally released for free, with the debug menu still available… I’d never play this genre normally, it’s not my thing at all so it is what it is, but it seems like a Hades clone (music included) 🤷🏻♂️

neutral · AI labelView post →Good Hades clone roguelike, but too short
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun short game. The blessing list feels a little small, but most of the cool stuff comes from the gear you make. Monster drops are pretty generous so failing the crafting minigame isn't too punishing and stocking up on potions doesn't feel too grindy. The art style is nice and there's a good bit of dialogue to read. P.S. The Reaper Crossbow is goated interrupting enemy attacks with it made the way to the boss much easier
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really easy to pick up and play, fast and addicting!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun little play. Better with controller than mouse.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I suck at fighting games like this one but I push through because it's so addicting!! would love more weapon/gear blueprint in the beginning of the game though (mainly because I suck and need more support lol)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! As a fan of the rougelite genre, on top of the underworld theme settings with grim reaper and schyte as a weapon, this game really resonates with me The art is really well done, the character I met so far has really nice art. It really captures the nuance of the underworld theme. Regarding the story i have not progressed very far, so i can't really tell much at this point. But so far at the start with so many things still a mistery has spark the interest for me to continue…

neutral · AI labelView post →Been a while since I played a roguelike that actually pulled me in, and **GRIM TRIALS** is one of the freshest releases I've tried lately. There’s a surprising amount of customization here, with plenty of options to build around and experiment with. It really lets you find your own playstyle instead of forcing you into one specific way of playing. Personally, I’m a huge scythe enjoyer, so naturally I went straight for the fast-paced, aggressive playstyle. And man, it feels GOOD. The music…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game... Inspired by Hades and Cult of The Lamb. The battle is fluid but the weapon is too slow for my liking. And some enemy doesn't have clear intent or telegraphing, so it's hard to dodge. Especially when I already used to in Hades combat, it takes me by surprise that the enemy could change direction when they telegraphing the attack. The crafting part is not the best... it's kinda weird there's two step to craft something... because you don't really need the intermediate item, for me…
