I love groove coaster, its a really fun rhythm game and one of my favorites so my answer should be obvious! don't buy this! Get wai wai party instead if you can, this thing is pretty much abandoned and wai wai party is basically what this should've been. (Or at least get the mobile ver if you don't have a switch)

I wish mixed reviews existed so bad since this is a great rhythm game in terms of challenging, easy to learn but hard to master gameplay. But the lack of updates and song variety with its overpriced DLC is just so... Wai Wai Party clears it in every respect except for the price (80 CAD???) so this one's worth it on sale.

Like everyone else says this is definitely better on the switch HOWEVER I don't regret buying this on the steam sale...it's still fun and for $7.99 it's worth it for me.

51% of the 186 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Groove Coaster. The complaint that keeps coming up: pC version is abandoned with no updates. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

Critics, per Wikipedia

The original, mobile version of the game had a Metacritic rating of 87% based on 21 critic reviews. SlideToPlay said "We don't know what Space Invaders are doing in a rhythm game, but we like it." IGN wrote "Nearly perfect. The music is great. The visuals are great. The rhythm action itself feels tight and perfectly matches each tune. Best of all, this is an experience that would be very hard to replicate on a traditional platform – this is a game built from the ground-up for iPhone, and it shows." The AV Club said "Its elegance surpasses some of its antecedents, like Osu! Tatke! Ouendan!" AppSafari wrote "The bigger screen is nice, but the levels scales so well, you won't miss out by using…

Sometimes, when I'm without my Switch, I start this version up and I'm reminded how far the developers have come from the early releases of Groove Coaster. PC users are stuck with this lacking version: a long loading screen, no characters, limited avatars and songs, occasional timing desyncs, only basic calibration settings, no separation between voice and menu language, basically none of the improvements the Switch version gets to enjoy. I seriously wish they would just port Wai Wai Party to…

If you aren't sure about getting this: don't. This port to steam is a mess, with too little songs to be fun. If you know this game, and this is the only platform you can get it, this is your best choice, but know: - Forced unskipable voice lines in every menu - It is a vertical forced window (tall, not wide; I have a monitor I can rotate, but its a pain otherwise) - You can literally only buy 4 pre-determined songs with the ingame points - All other 103 song are individual DLC's I…

Overall, a bit of a blemish on the Groove Coaster name. Firstly, the sync issues make many higher-grade songs flat out unplayable unless you change the audio offset for each and every song you want to play. This alone is a terrible flaw in a rhythm game where the whole point is to match inputs to what's on screen and the beat of the song. The song selection is sparse compared to other versions such as Wai Wai Party or even the original mobile versions of the game. Secondly, the UI is very…

Absolutely terrible neglected version of the game. Still hasn't been updated from being Steam Controller focused--the controller that pretty much nobody uses now. They made this game, then made a switch version and completely forgot about this one. I wish they just gave this version a big "Wai Wai Party" Update and brought it up to the Switch version. If you're interested in this and have a switch, buy that version instead. This is a joke.

Oh man, I love Groove Coaster. I really do, I love it so much that I DON'T recommend buying this version unless you're truly desperate to play GC on PC despite trying other means. This port has been long abandoned without any other signs of reviving, its only mentions through Taito are through sales which is funny because I don't think anyone would be playing it if they saw how horrible the sync is. The sync is unfortunately a hit or miss so there's also the fact that some people might be…

This is a fun game with some decent challenge. The songs are all pretty good as well, however that's about it for positives. The UI is terrible and doesn't seem to be designed for keyboard at all. Navigating through the menus feels unintuitive because of this. You cannot restart songs, you must exit out to the song list. Worst of all, this game will randomly take minutes to load, doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. Will happen on boot, in between songs, you name it. Game has pretty…

I played and enjoyed Wai Wai Party on Switch. Thought I'd pick up the PC version on sale. Total bust. It's missing so many features they are more than capable of adding! You cannot change hit sounds, there aren't any hit sounds except on ad lib which I find incredibly strange. You cannot change hit effects either, they're stuck at default. You cannot hit replay from the pause menu, you have to go back to the song select and then change all your options again. On Switch, when you hit to the beat…

Groove Coaster in general is a very fun game, however the PC port is lacking at best. Once you start playing you'll notice that the timings of the notes compared to the actual song is off. Problem is, how much it's off depends on the song, difficulty rating, and position in the song. So even though there's an option to change the note offset, this option is pretty much useless and the game is to be considered unplayable. First I thought this problem was only present with the base game, since…

I'm a big groove coaster fan. It's one of my favorite games to play at the arcade, and I have a ton of hours put into various ports of the game as well. I can't say the same for this one, though. The default note timing is pretty bad, with a pretty big delay between pressing a button and a sound being produced in-game, no matter how good your setup is. And even with hitsounds turned off, there just isn't a quick way to calibrate the timing, or any feedback on if you're hitting early or late.…

Groove Coaster is a pretty simple rhythm game - your avatar slides along a twisting, turning, roller coaster-like line, and you have to hit buttons when targets pass under your avatar. There are also hidden, optional Ad-Lib targets, and hitting them as well as all the targets gives you a Full Combo. Clearing a level gives you Groove Coins, or GC, which you can use to buy items, avatars, and music tracks. Items can be used to make the game easier or harder, though you can only use one item for a…

The Steam version isn't being supported anymore and there's no mod support for additional fan songs or anything which is unfortunate. This game is quite fun but most content is DLC and the support for this game is basically dead. the sequel on the switch called wai wai party is the version getting all the new characters and songs now making this version mostly irrelevant. if this game had an active modding community then it could be worth it but there isn't a modding community for this game at all. if you want groove coaster you have to get the sequel on switch or just find another rhythm game.
