What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 50 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (62 of 69 positive).
Players praise Hayfever as a polished, challenging platformer with a unique sneeze-dash mechanic. [1][2] Many compare it favorably to Celeste and Super Meat Boy, citing similar difficulty and quick respawns. [3][4][5] Some reviewers note bugs and a lack of creativity in later levels, while others find it too difficult. [6][7][8]

Too difficult for the average player. Also, when you DO accomplish things it feels more like luck than skill. Refund.

Review by [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/34633003-Gaming-Masterpieces/] Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam. Is this game a masterpiece? No, but it is a polished rage platformer with rather short (but numerous) levels and frequent checkpoints. Dash by sneezing and collect the letters lying around everywhere. Only played through the first 9 levels but I like what I saw so far. …

I think Hayfever is really fun, I would describe it as "Celeste but with sneezing". It's got that quick respawn feeling like Celeste and Super Meat Boy so I find myself continuing to trying to complete the obstacle infront of me. The music and animations are amazing so that's also a big bonus! Now I've just played the first world and I guess that it gets more difficult (not saying that World 1 was easy..) so if you …

Holy cow, this game is a hidden gem if there ever was one. It's all the best parts of games like Celeste and Super Meat Boy and then some. The core mechanic is a sneeze which functions like Madeline's dash, except it gets stronger and refreshes every time you collect pollen. There's very clever things done with this. It's the right amount of difficult too without feeling frustrating, you don't have to do an …

So good! I am not a platformer gamer but last time I played a platformer that was this engaging was years back! I have huge respect for how much time must have gone into the polishing phase of this games development, mad props! Fun concept that evolves seamlessly as you progress! Try it, get addicted

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jump refreshers have always been a mechanic I've enjoyed in games, and Hayfever really takes it to the next level. You can sneeze (dash) in 8 directions and these refreshers will both recharge your sneeze and make it more powerful depending on how many you pick up before executing it. On top of that, Hayfever introduces new mechanics that keep the gameplay fresh with each chapter. There are secrets and collectibles aplenty to be found within the game's numerous stages. The collectibles are…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great for us that like challenging platformers. I usually play them on the switch but got this for my living room PC after playing Super Meat Boy on my big screen TV. Highly addictive gameplay (just one more level), nice flow when it comes to the controls, excellent sound design.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't let it's cute exterior fool you, deep inside Hayfever is the dark souls of mail delivery games. Challenge fit for the truly crunchy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard-as-nails platformer! I'm having to retry most sections several times before getting through, but once you really manage to get "in the zone" it feels great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't recommend it, but read below to see if you're still interested. Here's what you do: You play as a mailman named Thomas delivering letters when you lose a bunch of them all of a sudden. You play through a series of 2D platforming levels to deliver mail and collect your lost letters. Thomas also has serious allergies and can use his sneeze as an additional jump in the air. This can be aimed in eight directions. There are various powerups in each level which add to his abilities, such as…

neutral · AI labelView post →Although I enjoyed most of the time I spent on the game, it's very lackluster given the price tag. Lots of the levels feel samey which becomes especially apparent after unlocking the Hard World, where the stages mostly require the player to beat their regular equivalents, but with a ton more spikes and enemies, without any creative spins whatsoever. The platforming itself is solid, but rough around the edges, I encountered a few bugs, one softlock and throughout the 8 hours I've played I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disclaimer: My scores/reviews are almost always based on having bought the game at close to the "lowest historical price" on steam at time of purchase. Quick score: 5/5 Notes: Some of the level design and mechanics can feel slightly clunky at times, but overall great platformer with a ton of content. Game starts off deceptively easy but gets fairly challenging pretty quickly past the 1st world. Music and visuals are great as well, but that should be apparent from the trailer. One of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun precision platformer. The main ability is being able to dash by sneezing, and this dash has varying levels of power depending on how much dust you hit before using it. The level design is really well done, and the gameplay is super satisfying. There are 4 worlds + a hard mode world, each of which introducing new mechanics to the game, keeping it fresh throughout. It often goes on sale 75% off, and at that price, it's an absolute steal! Recommended even at full price, especially if…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game a lot. I'm not usually into platformers but something about this grabbed me. I think that generally I tend to get frustrated with this sort of game and quickly lose interest. That's mainly down to having to redo sections over and over again till you get that perfect series of inputs and pass it. With this game I didn't really get stuck at any point, so far at least, and it usually only takes a couple of tries to progress. I find that the checkpoints are well placed so you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hayfever is horrific at the moment. Constant game of is it hayfever or Covid. Eyes glued shut in the mornings. Croaky voice. Dizzy from congestion. On the edge of a constant sinus headache on top of the regular flavour headache that seems to be permanent now.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Dustforce/Celeste inspired platformer. (+) Good level of challenge without being frustrating (for the most part). (+) Good learning and difficulty curve. (+) Last world is a great challenge. (+) Interesting use of the dash reset mechanic. The player will use the dash reset to do many of the plataforming challenges, it is interesting how they recontextualize the dash reset to be a environmental hazard in certain sections. (-) The presentention can a be a bit gross sometimes, but nothing…

TL;DR: Hayfever is a cute platformer that'll lure you in with a charming style and excellent soundtrack before revealing it's Super Meat Boy inspirations, cranking the difficulty up, and throwing bees in your face. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite a good platformer. The sneezing mechanics are somewhat similar to Celeste's dashes, so if you liked Celeste there is a good chance you will like this. neutral · AI labelView post →I think it is an excellent game for its genre. I really love it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very pleasant and nice challenge platformer. Think Super Meat Boy, but not gross or mean-spirited. Cute and friendly pixelart and good music. The stages have interesting and varied mechanics. A sadly under-appreciated indie gem.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great! And I would recommend everyone to give this game a try. It's fast-paced with precise movement and really difficult! And on top of all that, there's a bunch of content that'll take you a good while to get through. All and all a super solid platformer for everyone to enjoy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A finely crafted platformer/allergy simulator with a happy-go-lucky vibe. The main character propels himself around by sneezing, with different types of pollen affecting his movement. This is an inspired, simple mechanic that stays fresh throughout the whole game. Levels vary massively in pacing, ranging from slow and cerebral to high-octane twitch festivals. Unsurprisingly, Hayfever shares a lot in common with Celeste. You die in one hit, and have an 8-way dash as your main means of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the price of free it is hard to fault this game but it's not perfect and it's a shame too because I wouldn't give this game a negative review because I had fun but the game has some annoyances in various bugs that look like they'll never be fixed. Mostly the game will sometimes just eat inputs and the game doesn't always reset properly to the original state when dying in a level. But otherwise it's a fun platformer that I'm surprised is free.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THIs is a great platformer my faavourite free game on steam at the moment
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got my hands on this cheerful little game today and thought, “Alright, simple graphics, let’s give it a shot.” It starts off like one of those classic platformers I’ve been seeing for the last 30 years — nothing new, nothing shocking, but still kind of charming. The first level was actually nice: colorful, friendly, even a tiny tutorial to make me feel welcome. And then came level two. Suddenly there’s a wall right in front of me, and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out how to jump…

neutral · AI labelView post →I'm playing a game of 'Hayfever or cold?' It involves having a Lemsip wondering why it's doing bugger all and then saying 'fuck you trees.'
neutral · AI labelView post →Hayfever's controls are absolutely abysmal, it's a struggle just moving in the desired direction - and that's if you can even get the game to recognize your inputs, I lost track of how many times I died simply because my character didn't jump when I commanded him to jump. This would be bad enough for most titles but it's an absolute dealbreaker for a precision platformer, I'm genuinely stunned that the game was released with controls this downright terrible. Strong recommendation to avoid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hayfever, developed by Pixadome and published by Silver Lining Interactive, is a precision platformer that cleverly transforms a character’s debilitating seasonal allergies into a core gameplay mechanic. You play as Thomas, an unfortunate but determined postman who loses all his letters due to an intense sneeze. neutral · AI labelView post →A true hidden gem of the "precision platformer" genre. Really well designed levels as well as movement mechanics. A lot of the power-ups and level mechanics are unique and fun, but a couple (namely the red orbs-similar to the ones in Celeste) require incredibly quick and precise direction input, which can be tough to achieve consistently. Nothing that takes away from the overall experience though. I bought this on Switch a couple years ago. Got an itch to play a good platformer and ended up…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not gonna leave a bad review only because I don't think deserves an entire ''DONT BUY IT''. I wish I could give it a 'meh'. The mechanic is nothing new but it's something you don't see many games using and the ways the game explore this single mechanic are actually really good but some of the level design and OMG specially the first and only boss that I fought (the cloud) is TERRIBLE. The lasers are not telegraphed so you don't know when they'll start nor end and the way you need to hit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Weirdly fun little platformer that truly takes it's mechanics to the limit. While it can be a bit dull visually, the mechanics are tight and the sense of weight is really fun. Nothing is wasted, a pretty good time. If you enjoy tight pure platformers like super meatboy, give this a shot.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Precision platformer with a lovely presentation and a really nice spin on standard dash mechanics. Gradually builds up the challenge and the hard world is brutal, but the main story remains accessible. Great fun! Check out https://store.steampowered.com/curator/41559946 for more recommendations!
