What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 195 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (4,913 of 6,046 positive).
Many reviewers say the game is too short, often finishing in under 5 hours, and not worth the full $40 price tag. [1][2][3] Some players complain about bugs, glitches, and puzzles that require online guides, while others enjoy the fun stealth and atmosphere. [4][5][6]

For a price tag at $40.... I can't recommend this game. It's fun... but way too short. You can beat the whole game in under 5 hours. That's insane. I loved the first game. Wait for it to be on sale for $10 and you'll get your money's worth.

this is a VAST improvement over the first game. it's still glitchy, broken, poorly optimized, and even crashed my entire system once, but the enemies are much smarter and are genuinely FUN to evade/mess around with. the map is far more interesting, with an "open world" and more varied architecture. the overall presentation is quite a lot better too. the characters and environments all look very good, the visual …

Hello Neighbor 2 is a massive improvement from the first game. the art style of the models is as perfect as it can be, the music is angelic to my ears, they nailed the open world aspect so don't let that make you have doubts about getting the game. Trying to solve puzzles is a lot more forgiving compared to the first game (don't get me started with act 3 in HN1) the only downside I have is I think the game is a …

Pretty good game, better than it was at launch, could have been better in a lot of ways though like with the forest area it's a very annoying part, its also only around 2-3 hours long so it's a little short, I recommend waiting until a sale as it is not worth $39.99 6.5/10.

Its great game but with alot of glitches still, i won't talk alot about story n stuff since i never played first part of hello neighbor, but my first playthrough took me 4.1hours and with it i did 100% achievements and explored everything, so that's amazing game, but definitely too short for its price xd (p.s Have good day eventually night <3) [pls hello neighbor 1 someone gift :steamsad:]

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not even 30 minutes in and I immediately regret spending $10 on this game. It's an "open world" in name only, an open space with zero substance. It may allow you to go anywhere, but you can ONLY do what the game wants. The beta playtest featured a genuine open world where you collected things together for the final location, the Museum. It was jank as hell but it was at least genuine. Everything feels shockingly closed in and scripted despite the game being originally advertised and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey, anyone remember when Hello Neighbor 2 was being developed as a new, unique game, but then TinyBuild scrapped that to make a different, way more generic game? Oh, and remember when they went mad with the false advertising of that game and made all kinds of massive promises about neural network AI that learns from players? Man, TinyBuild fucking sucks.
negative · AI labelView post →This is a bad game they fumbled the bag so hard from the alpha no advanced AI that learns from other people. Very buggy the dlc is also buggy, messy, and doesn't really contribute to the whole story. The only positive is the forest update with the guest. Just play the alphas.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Good: -The soundtrack. The game's soundtrack is incredible. -The art style. The game's art style is very stylized and looks great. -The map is very well modeled and interesting to explore. -General gameplay and movement is very fun. The Bad: -Absurdly overpriced for how short it is, you can literally 100% the game and still get a refund. -Insanely overpriced day 1 DLCs, one of which wasn't even finished when the game launched. -The game is completely abandoned, no more updates to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hello neighbor's downfall was the fact that the alphas and everything pre-official release was absolutely 1000 times better than the final game. i had hope that they'd take feedback from their community-- make it less glitchy, more attention to detail, change the movement system so it's not so floaty, etc.. it's like they heard that, and then lobotomized themselves before beginning work on this project the puzzles are arguably better than the first game. there's no freezing the world,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ts sucks. maybe im just stupid but half of these puzzles make sense, there's not a way to really deal with the characters, and you barely actually play against the neighbor. it feels like they were trying to do the vague, mysterious story style from the alphas, but they also gave it too much story. there was too much story to be mysterious, not enough story to make any ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense. and it's janky asf. not even in a fun way like HN 1.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is fun, but they still need to make the puzzles easier. I needed to look up multiple youtube tutorials which kinda ruined it for me
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is boring and extremely buggy, the ai is awful: it always freezes for a second at almost every step it takes; the fact it was released at this state is unbelievable, especially with several years worth of NINE patches done for this game, something as important as the AI pathfinding is an absolute disaster, not to mention that the AI has no way of getting to you if you simply jump onto an object, as for whatever the ai's were prgramed without being able to jump or get you from spots…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's kind of crazy how solid the 2nd hello neighbor game is. Now it isn't really good but it's miles ahead of the original. The game feels a lot more polished and the controls feel pretty smooth. My only real negative is that the game is for one really short and the ending is kind of lack luster. It's not a horrible game like hello neighbor one by any means but I don't really think it's worth the price tag. And yes the lies about how they were gonna add a super advanced AI is very scummy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another is the Guest from Hello Neighbor 2 Terrible, awful game series But i love this stupid bird creature
negative · AI labelView post →Yes i would reccomend this but i recomend you search how to solve it first to kind of get an idea on how to solve it but other than that the graphics are good and the animations too, i have the first game that came out and this ones graphics are way better, they definetly improved.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is still fun after years, havent gotten my heart racing before until the last mission, it also still runs smoothly on older pc*s which is good, i could only recommend this game but only buy it if its on a discount
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →even tho i like the first game for being a pretty fun bad game, this one unfortunately is just pretty boring it also has an abrupt end that makes it feel like the game wasnt finished and has many bugs too sad i wasnt able to enjoy it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not as good as the first, well it certain aspects. The gameplay is not as fun as the first, but the story and graphics are far better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game was not that bad i replayed alot of times and i found alot of fun

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Officer Leslie “from” the (S)hit game (imo), Hello Neighbor 2! Love this dude’s design, shame he got cut.
negative · AI labelView post →Most of the time you don't know what to do but it's definitely better than the first part. Actually I enjoyed this game alot, less bugs, better graphics, big ups!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is good but the sad part there is no patch 10 so we will never understand the lore maybe in 3 we will
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game in 2024 and i have played it and finished it i think like 23 times? Anyway take it from me if you havent bought this game and you are trying to see if its worth it, it is trust me. Something that some people will say is that is it not very hello neighbory but thats what its supposed to be. ever since Nikita left the game is very different from number 1 but thats the whole shine of it. If you havent played hello neighbor 1 try it before you start this this game requires…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not really worth the money and very short if it was 19 bucks than maybe Def other games is more worth it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ok so this game took me just about 10 hours to beat on my first playthrough (havent started the guest's forest) and i must say this game is pretty good but i do think this isnt worth the price but i got this while it was on sale for like 8$ and that was an absolute bargan this game is very fun and most puzzles are very fun to complete (night sections in particular) but some of them did need me to have to watch tutorials from them not being explained properly and lastly the animations for this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Listen, the game isn't great, but it's miles better than HN1 and I truly liked playing it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While substantially better than the original game, (functionality wise especially) Hello Neighbor 2 falls flat when it comes to being the game Hello Neighbor was pitched as. Hello Neighbor was meant to be a puzzle stealth horror game with advanced AI that learns from your actions, the original turned into an awful platformer and while this one has good puzzles, there's no real challenge when it comes to the threats. Honestly, if tinyBuild wants to make a competent Hello Neighbor game, they…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good quality and nice Graphics that is peakkk! I recommend that you play it peakiest version
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i dint expect a 20 hrs with and huge post game of content but like this is ridicously short, to the point that even with non retarted cassual playthrough it edges to being a refundable game. atleast what is here is somewhat cool but still very hello neighbor puzzlelish. overall its is VERY mid
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game I would buy this game a million times is so much fun!!! I loved how you were able to explore places beyond the neighbors house and something about the games environment felt great. Would recommend this game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cried my eyes out For how disapointed i was
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So you're new to this block, welcome to the ride of your life Just keep away and your life will be pleasant, you'll find Some secrets are best let go (So stop knocking on my damn front door) I'll find you and I'll kick you out of sight For you see, as much as I look like I've got stuff left for you My house is not a place to steal all my clues I know you're new here (But you should think twice before you come near) I'm smarter than your average neighbor too (I don't care what you do)…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hello Neighbor 2 was a massive upgrade from the first game, it has a lot more enemies, locations, and puzzles. The only complaint I have is that STUPID DUMB HUNTER. Other then that, the games wonderful, finished it in about 5 hours with all achievements. But I do think it's worth noting that I got it during a deal making it abt $10.00, I don't think I would've purchased it for $39.99, especially not for only 5 hours of story

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this franchise as a kid and I absolutely love this game, It's just Sad they didn't add more characters like the Guest I barely saw him here, But I really enjoyed this game overall!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its good but i have played it a little but i think the old versions of it is more fun because of the bugs so you can speedrun it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hello Neighbor 2 takes the ideas from the first game and expands them into a bigger, more open experience, and in many ways, that ambition really shows. The town of Raven Brooks feels more alive, giving you multiple locations to explore instead of just a single house. Each area acts like its own puzzle box, encouraging you to pay attention to your surroundings and piece together clues at your own pace. The atmosphere is still strong, blending a slightly eerie tone with a stylized look that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ENG: The game has good visuals and a nice soundtrack, as well as decent gameplay. There are still bugs, but not as many as before. I wouldn't have recommended this game back then, but I definitely do now. My only warning is not to expect a conclusive ending, as this title has been abandoned in favor of another sequel that promises to be even better. I'd recommend this game if you like solving puzzles and figuring things out on your own. I'd recommend this to you! Solid 4.6/5. JPN:…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't see why hate this game sol much, it is best hello neighbor game if you ask me. It is buggy but it is stil good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Today i did beat hello neighbor 2 and also i got %100 steam achievements today my lucky day
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You basically need a tutorial on YouTube to do anything in the game. Plus it’s a buggy mess. Not worth it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game... Mixed on launch and most people have their dislikes, but this game is beyond awesome. The vibes are so messy and cozy at the same time and i like how the story gets tied up easily and the gameplay style is fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8/10, its alright, it improves on many of the first game's issues, not much to say other than that
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really fun game! But I idk if the puzzles were too hard or I'm just dumb but I had to watch a whole walkthrough while I play the game. But overall I kind of had fun with this game, I may have beaten it already in 3 hours but I'm going to play again!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its great game but with alot of glitches still, i won't talk alot about story n stuff since i never played first part of hello neighbor, but my first playthrough took me 4.1hours and with it i did 100% achievements and explored everything, so that's amazing game, but definitely too short for its price xd (p.s Have good day eventually night <3) [pls hello neighbor 1 someone gift :steamsad:]
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hello neighbor 2 is one of those games that feels weird at first but then kinda pulls you in without you noticing. it takes the same sneaky hide and seek idea from the first game and makes it way bigger. the whole town of raven brooks is open now and wandering around it feels pretty cool. you get to break into all these houses and places for clues and every area has its own little personality. it made the world feel alive in a way the first game didnt. the ai does feel smarter this time, like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →...yall really da feeted these hard working devs it hasn't been this bad since Hello Neighbor 2 was bugging Game Theory to lore their game
negative · AI labelView post →📝: "how is it that even the fucking NEW SUPER MARIO BROS LOCK ON CHEEP CHEEPS have better tracking AI then the AI in Hello Neighbor 2. How do you even achieve that in a game centered around the AI?! Like what?????"
negative · AI labelView post →Hiya, this is for the mascot horrorthon if it does happen. But when you go to play Hello Neighbor 2, there is now a ninth patch that adds a whole new area to the game. Just to let ya know, and it's pretty neat :3 💚
positive · AI labelView post →Ray tracing is unsupported on AMD GPUs. WTF?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is interesting, until the last part, the numbers arent even he thing u need to put in the code, but the graphics was WAY better than in the hnhns or the hn1, the gameplay was better, the puzzles are much better, except the last one. 9/10. give it a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my Favourite game. The best game I have ever tried. I recommend this game to yall
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would not recommend this. Disappointing
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Completed it in one night LMAO
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm so mixed when it comes to HN2, but I think the overall consensus of this game is that it's fine. It's pretty fun once you know what you're doing, much like HN1, but the story can also feel heavily misconstrued at times. DLC content is alright. 7.5/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its fine not the best but a mediocre fun game (much better than the 1st game tho) looking foward to the 3rd game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GAME IS AMAZING, i love the complex puzzles and open world mechanics that weren't in the first game. i also love the fact that they added decent graphics. this is a good game would recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Phenomenal soundtrack, amazing visuals, great map, quirky characters, clever puzzles, eerie story and spooky situations. Did I mention the music? Jokes aside this is a solid 9/10 game, I've played it several times over and it just doesn't get old. If you're looking for a puzzle stealth game with solid graphics that don't ruin gameplay, music that'll have you immersed and puzzles to keep you engaged then Hello Neighbor 2 is your game.
