Seriously, read this post before you consider buying it. I promise you that I'll save you 20$ 1) This game has mandatory mouse acceleration and a very poor FOV that make exploration painful 2) there are no puzzles in this game. The gameplay loop amounts to wandering around until a previously closed path becomes available. That house you see in the trailer and screenshots? You will spend 90% of your time in that tiny …

It is with a heavy heart that I must give a thumbs down. I hate doing this, but unfortunately the game is virtually unplayable for me as a person with motion sensitivity. I understand that this is a 'passion' project created by a single developer, it made way too many mistakes(for me personally) to recommend this to other people. - As I have mentioned in many reviews over the years-- headbob, camera shake, and …

I bought this game, recommended by a friend, and to be honest, I didn't expect much. 1 - It is a game made by only one developer. 2 - It has negative reviews from some high level players. 3 - It is publishd by 1C. Okay, despite all these concerns... I played about 3 hours to finish and it was missing an Achievement, this would be the alternative ending which I preferred not to do, because I would have to accept the …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only video game I've ever played was Hong Kong Mahjong by Nine Dragons Software: the only computer version of the actual game I've ever seen, and played with Cantonese Old-Style rules. Not into horror at all because we actually live in an American Horror Story (Myrtle Snow still rules).

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somewhat promising, although currently it's held back by a lack of options and some really dark areas, making navigating through them rather awkward. Nevertheless, it provides some spooky moments in visually appealing environments. I'm interested to see where the story leads in the future. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLJehn6g2eE

It already has some good jumpscares, the graphics look great. It didn't bother me that the house was kinda empty, but what was a huge "EH" moment, was that you need a key to unlock another key, to get another key. It's a lot of keys, maybe this could be solved another way. But this was really only the one thing that was a bit of a vibe-killer. Don't know, just a bit. There is also a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far, the game looks really good (50 min of gameplay that will be extended to up to 3 hours), has very good graphics and runs smoothly. I recommend buying the game if you enjoy the horror genre since it gives a worthy experience and has a really good price.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game so diabolically evil and warped it broke free in early access unable to keep its perverse desire to wreak unending suffering upon all which cross its path upon the road of life. Graphics are flesh putrifying detailed in morbid unholy glory pulsing with that which is not alive yet not dead. Your mind will reel in reality annihilating horror as maniacal scenes beyond human comprehension grip you as if trying to rend spirit and flesh raw into grounded meat for dark hounds awaiting in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the this, absolutely loved it and although still in Early Access, I would highly recommend it to any Horror gaming fan! Well done Jeff (and team) I am now currently re-installing it as, through Twitter, I was advised that a further update was inbound for Early Access - just in time for Halloween itself! A further review will be posted after I play it again. Do not tell ghost stories around a campfire – They might come true!! This game provides a claustrophobic, eery and paranormal…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is creepy. The atmosphere reminds me of the original PT which I was too scare even to walk around the corridor. Looking forward to see the full release.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thoroughly enjoyed the game. My first play through was while streaming and my viewers enjoyed seeing the story unfold. We end up quoting this game while playing other games. Excited to see more games like this come to Steam.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although I am not a fan of horror games and have no basis for comparison, since it is the first one I have played, this game have, so far, impressed me. The graphics are good, especially when you consider there is only one person developing it. The game as it stands right now looks very good and I believe with the necessary polish it will take for release the graphics will look very nice, indeed. The game sounds are also good, and they create a nice atmosphere. I have no idea how the developer…

neutral · AI labelView post →The game is really good so far, the graphics are nice and I absolutely love the creepy atmosphere and the sounds. I like the small details like when you can use an ouija board and play piano to save the game (though I think it should save right after you click on it, and then let you decide if you want to keep playing the piano, or if you want to leave) I spent 1 hour playing and when it ended, I wanted to play some more. Jeff did a great job on this game and I can't wait to play the full…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Credit where credit is due: The game *looks* good for the most part. The graphics are very eye-catching and at times photo-realistic. There are some noticeable graphic glitches, as well as non sequitur visual effects, but overall, I feel the assets look very pretty. However, the story feels very tired and played (teens in the woods, possible drug usage, a creepy farm house, some form of satan / demon worship...it's been done before). That's if you're lucky enough to get the game to work…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will preface this review by saying I received a copy of Horror Story: Hallowseed to stream/do a Youtube video for. That in no shape or way will effect on my honest opinion of this or any game I ever play. A link to the first of 2 videos covering this game will be right here https://youtu.be/wun7wseL6Nk Horror Story: Hallowseed, what a mouthful to say and what a mouthful to say about. I think it's very easy to praise the game where it stands strong. So lets talk about the biggest problems…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I play a lot of horror games and you are going to get an honest review from someone who has played the entire game after it's full release. A lot of the reviews here were Early Release and that bolstered up the positive reviews. The entire game takes about 3 hours to complete and after one week of being released only 5-6% of players have reached the achievements at the end so that shows you how many people have actually completed the full retail game. I had high hopes for the game with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept of this game is amazing, I would have loved to have finished it. Its actually really disappointing as what i could get through had me hooked but the moment the motion blur kicks in it ruins the atmosphere. But the motion blur is giving me migraines and making it unplayable, add a setting to the game to change it to on or off and I will finish it happily suggest it to but until then a big fat nope. Light flare is also a big issue.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuine scary game! I'll go straight to the point: The developer managed to unite the basics of any horror game here, making you easily familiar with the mechanics. But at the same time he put his unique vision. It's not an extremely difficult game, but it's not easy either. It has very simple puzzles, but none of them escapes the logic proposed in the game. If you play with an open mind, you will be able to see how this developer is unique. I could have finished the game in 2h 30m maybe,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely loved this game I highly recommend it It had everything jump scares atmosphere and some challenging game play 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very creepy atmosphere. Feels like I'm in an episode of Supernatural. You start in a spooky forest, move to a haunted house, and try to get out alive while solving puzzles and looking for your friends. There are monsters, but no weapons, so you have to run or trick them into getting killed. Great visuals and sound effects.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy indie horror games so I was excited to actually play this one. With mostly Positive reviews I was excepting a pretty enjoyable experience. Unfortunately I was wrong. I do need to point out that I did in fact finish the game. The Good: -Way you save in the house with the piano is really fun and creative. -The outside environments are really nice and create a great atmosphere, I appreciate its overcast and not just night time. The Bad: -Littered with jumpscares. I point this out…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very good Horror game... i wish for some sequels or something similar
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I gave up half way through and I'm a veteran when it comes to horror games. Multiple times I was stuck for 20+ minutes trapped in 3-5 rooms trying to figure out what to do next. Its not even smart difficult puzzles or anything, its just finding out where a small barely noticeable key is or which door suddenly unlocked for no reason etc... The "trigger points" to open up the next scene are extremely hard to find. Not my idea of fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I haven't finished the game yet but am getting close. I think I've played enough to give a review now, although, I may update it later once I've completed the game. I didn't know about the, uh, "drama" surrounding the creator's reactions to constructive criticism until I was nearly halfway through the game, but I am not going to pass judgment and give the game a negative review. Although, I will say, if the creator acts inappropriately for reviews of future games he releases, then I won't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i hate it when trailers make a game look good but then fall flat, i understand its one guy making a game but its just boring and so annoying how its so slow and no run option AVOID even if its only a few to buy, not worth it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was surprisingly difficult to decide if I wanted to recommend this game or not. At it's core, the game is somewhat enjoyable, but if you're looking for horror, it's simply not here. I'd find it easier to recommend this game if it didn't have "horror" in the title, but regardless, I still liked it. Pros: - Sound design is great! There's often cool ambient noises that add to the atmosphere plenty. The directional quality is really what helps. It's not just a random noise that seems out of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am really looking forward to the full release of this game. It has a lot of promise. I am hoping for some more crazy jump scares. Keep up the good work buddy. Great atmosphere and graphics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You were camping in the woods with two friends when an obscure event caused you to lose consciousness and wake up alone in an unknown, strange place. Explore the forest, find mysterious places, find your friends and solve the mystery. We live the story by a narrator, everything is good so far, I can say that I like the game. What I don't like is that there are too many jumpscares, something pops up everywhere every second and they are simple, they could be improved, they don't tell us what we…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little horror game that took me around 3 hours. The jump scares will not give you heart failure but they will make your heart rat go up :) Worth playing because the main character sounds like Gary from Team America :) Solid 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know this is a one person project. And I really want to like it. The environment is very nicely done, the atmosphere is there, but the "puzzles" and "jumpscares" with instant death basically butchered the entire experience. Perhaps his next game will be a bit more polished
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game when it was in Early Access, and even back then, I couldn't believe it was a one-man game. Horror Story: Hallowseed is an underrated game, and I think something is wrong on Steam. Why so many negative reviews? Did they play the same game I played? Maybe I'm exaggerating, but maybe I've seen something few have seen. I watched some gameplay videos and didn't find what I saw here in my gameplay. I think it must be something special that the developer left hidden in the game. I…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →for one dude making it its actually pretty good the atmosphere of the house is whats good keeps you on your toes kinda similar to resident evil 7 aka with the house and things not happening for awhile in the house. The monster you encounter how ever is dumb not scary and looks terrible looks too clay like of a figure. overall this game is really good besides the monster i do feel it should be free cause its a demo atm but if we do pay for the demo the real game could come out better cause the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not a game. Just what could be a game in the future, but is not at all now. I stopped refunding and gave the opportunity (trust credit) to the author, but why this product came to Steam is a mystery. Can't recommend now. Let's see what will happen next.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →P. S. If you have difficulties in the walktrough, this guide will be very useful: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3561496240 Careful: the devil's evil, God's good. Right from the start, you should throw out all that flowery nonsense that developer Jeff Winner dumped on Steam, promising a "deep story," "reactive AI," and a "tense atmosphere." In reality, Horror Story: Hallowseed is complete crap. Yeah, for an indie project it tries to look decent visually, but in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →And finally I played Horror Story: Hallowseed. If I had believed the negative reviews, I would never have bought this gem. "Walk simulator with jumpscares" kiss my ass. Hallowseed is a game that I see has been unfairly treated by malicious reviews, with the intention of harming the developer. You can see how much work Jeff Winner put into this game, and that's not what you see in these devs nowadays who only care about releasing another cash grab. A game with many details and a tense atmosphere…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The power of Christ compels me to give a negative review, for 3 major reasons... 1. This game has an obsession with adding very intense camera shake any time something is going on. enjoy getting motion sick from the long periods of it. 2. most of the game is just "here is a key. now go click on the 50 doors around the house till you figure out which one it goes to", repeat 20+ times 3. Monsters appear right in front of you, and you somehow have to react to it and run away and hide, also with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really didn't want to put a thumbs down, I thought on the whole the game is very well made. Good scares, spooky buildup, decent voice acting and a good story. Especially love the design with playing the piano to save the game. The piano keys it seems are tied to the keys on the keyboard, which was creative. One thing REALLY brings down the overall experience is the chase sequences. Not the chase itself, but when the chase is initiated, there is no delay given for the player to understand…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bad UI & UX, poor level design, glitchy gameplay and cliché storyline. But the most stupid thing in the game is sequences especially the chasing ones. For real, what was that? It's really ridiculously bad. Also the game's optimization is pretty awful. Fairly amateurish game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately this game is a big key and page hunting with a weak story. The visuals are pretty, but the game gets boring pretty fast.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Horror Story: Hallowseed is a game way too preoccupied with its own technicals to bother you with a well-thought out challenge or experience. It’s more about the punishment. Problem is, there’s no game to really substantiate it. You’re walking around an abandoned house at a snail’s pace, collecting unmarked keys and shaking hands with a million doorknobs over and over. To break it up, you’re granted a hilarious split second of reaction time as a demon appears and starts chasing you.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an extremely impressive game for a solo developer. Please ignore what some of the people say about this being "too hard" or finding trigger points to progress was weird, stick with it, it's not supposed to be easy. I thought this was a fun narrative horror with a good story, good spooks and compared to a lot of the other indie horror trash out there, this is a diamond in the rough.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad game for some weekend play. Nice visuals and a really cool forest/wood area. It is pretty much a straightforward game of you against evil. Some good jump scares but not overdone at all. Just enough to make you cautious as you wander through the house. Two troublesome points for some players though. One is finding the first door key when you are not really aware that that is what you are looking for. Second is fleeing from your demons. A review here gives you a very good start…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5/5 I really liked this game. The jump scares weren't to much but enough to keep you on your toes, the spooky feel was right there to keep the feel going through out the game. When in the forest I got Blair Witch Project vibes and in the house the Conjuring vibes which I totally loved. They did a good job honestly, I have no complaints to be honest.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played Horror Story Hallowseed for the first time in his early access version one year ago . I liked the style and graphics of the game back then already and now I finally got around to play the Full Game release . As I said before great graphics I liked the lore about the demon ( I like everything involving spirits and demons and all those things . ) I find the start of the game is very atmospheric when you are in the woods before arriving at the house . This game is done by one person and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely recommend keeping an eye on this one! The initial 30 minutes are really good survival horror. Nice little scares early on with a brilliant atmosphere and really impressive graphics for one person to create! Kudos the the creator. Excited to see what the full game is like. Good job!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ace game, mate! It ain't just another one of those dodgy jumpscares that everyone's over. Proper deep and well put together. I know it's been said before, but crikey, this game was cooked up by a lone Aussie legend. Gotta show some respect! I'm keen as to give Deathomen a go; I reckon it won't be the same deal, but I'm fair dinkum sure it'll be ripper.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It had been a while since this game was on my Wishlist. First and foremost, Horror Story: Hallowseed is exactly what the title suggests—a HORROR STORY. It stands out from all the horror games I've ever seen. Developed by a single individual, who undoubtedly poured a lot of effort into bringing their vision to life. Regarding the community and the Negative reviews I've read, I don't agree with any of them. Some are clearly ideological and personally target the developer due to the game's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this game in a sale bundle with 2 other horror games. The atmosphere in this game is nice and it is beautiful to look at. The voice acting could be better, but there was some parts where it sounded really good. The chase scenes were annoying. (You really need more time to react. The monster spawning in front of you that quick after the screen goes black is just bad.) The whole game felt very drawn out because of how often you had to just keep checking the same doors to see if the new key…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →why anyone thought giving you literally 1 second to turn and run away from a demon was the right approach to a chase sequence is beyond me? i ended up having to walk backwards just so i had a chance of getting away without dying a hundred times, kinda ruined the whole experience, other than that the whole games atmosphere is amazing and i loved that the jumpscares werent 'cheap' but the whole 'chase sequence' ruined it for me especially the bit where u need to run and then suddenly crouch…
