Don't play this game, please. I beg you. Not because it is a waste of money, but it is a waste of time. I lost 20 hours in this game and I regret it. In the beginning I almost fainted from how ugly the game art was (apart from CGs which were decent). But it didn't stop me from giving this game a chance - which was a huge mistake. How To Date A Magical Girl! is not just a visual novel but also a time management game where you have to do certain tasks to grow your attributes to date girls. I really like how they combined these two aspects into a game to make it more interesting and also makes me think. The game is fantastic and the story always kept me on my toes. The music was well thought out to match the setting and character's emotions. The main theme was so good that I can proudly say that I spent 3 hours vibing to it before starting the game.

☆2/5☆ Just bought and finished this game 100% in one sitting. Basically, this is a regular visual novel with a Persona-style affection system taped on top of it. The Good: It's written okay. I got kind of into the plot, I didn't have any huge glaring issues with most of the writing overall, with a few exceptions I'll note later. Decent length, you can relatively easily get all endings in one run without following a guide. The art is nice, sort of generic VN style art, but it's decent.…

Introduction Denial can be a great way to cope with the various events that occur around you. Sometimes it is through denying the existence of the things that go on around us that can help give people the strength to move forward as they stand in a seemingly never-ending nightmare. Eventually, however, everyone has to come to terms with the realities that they are forced to live but what if you did not have to? What if you could lock yourself away in your fantasies forever? With so many positive reviews, I thought this would be a nice hidden gem, but I was sadly disappointed. It's pretty much impossible to go into this without knowing there's some sort of twist, but I managed to avoid spoilers successfully. The events unfold at quite slow pace with a fair bit of grinding in between but nothing unusual for a VN of this type and I got strung along the mystery and happenings, trying to figure out the twist. Unfortunately, the twist turned out to be the first…

I expected this game to be mediocre, and I was disappointed. Graphics: The backgrounds and CGs are fine, but good lord is the sprite art ugly. I think it's mostly an issue of colouring, with weird desaturated colours that don't mesh at all with the art style. The UI isn't outstanding but it's fine, and some of the horror glitch moments are well executed. Overall, not great but could be worse. Music: Not an OST I'm going to buy, but it wasn't grating either. I think maybe one or two tracks…

How To Date A Magical Girl is a pretty mediocre visual novel at best and a pretty bad horror experience at worst. It's not atrociously bad by any means, but it's not great either. I'm gonna tell you why. Keep in mind this is all my opinion. I can see why others would like this game. (minimal spoilers ahead) The writing for this game is not stellar by any means, the protagonist is bland and so are the magical girls the game puts so much emphasis on. They're all stereotypical anime tropes and…

HEAVY SPOILERS! --- So, I'm a huge fan of bait and switch horror. I figure that anyone who plays this game is looking for a similar experience to DDLC, just like I was. The thing that makes DDLC so good is that its scares actually mean something to progress the story. You can see the world breaking down in front of you, and all the characters lose themselves in the horror. It's really interesting and fun! I wish I could give the same praise to How To Date A Magical Girl. This game felt…

Thank god this isn't the first VN I played because I would never have touched the medium ever again. 5/10 So-So. I actually do half-heartedly recommend it if you're a dedicated visual novel fan, but in general it doesn't work very well overall. So, the game is a split between a visual novel and an old-fashioned stat/attribute levelling game, where you raise attributes in order to secure a potential love interest. The story focuses on you (a man or woman) enrolling in a school for Magical Girls – super-heroic girls that save the world with magic, fighting off demons and healing people in…

I'm really conflicted about this game. Here's just some of my thoughts about this game. The Good: -The "MAIN" story was great, I liked all of the characters and the interactions that you had with them. Neutral: -The music was there. Just your average BG music with nothing special about it. -The gameplay was solid for these kinds of games, nothing to great but there was nothing wrong with it either. The gameplay centered around setting up dates with the girls and collecting items from the…

How to Date a Magical Girl is a nice dating sim and with romance. The story is good, from 1 time cute, from oter side shocking with brutal pictures. I also especially like the gender choice at start from the story but then,,, i have to quickly realize, no matter the choice if we take female character we do not feel at all as a female which is rather disapointing at this place. I will be the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and put the plot twist of this game: Nothing featured in the game is real. The MC is in life support after getting ran over by a truck (that's only mentioned in the end and has no implication in the beginning) and the entire game is the life support creating a simulation world so he could heal. The murder, gore, disturbing content and Out-Of-Character writing of characters is the life support machine trying to force him out of the simulation. I played the game when my…

How To Date A Magical Girl! is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high…

How To Date A Magical Girl revolves around a generic dating mini-game wherein affection is bought with trinkets and tasty treats, unlocking dates and unique scenes for each of the five romantic interests. The mini-game's time-consuming monotony occurs daily throughout the semester, taking the place of meaningful character interactions. This masks the shortness of the story and causes it to plod along at an uneven pace, doling out lollipops of actual writing every few days in lieu of full course…

I like this game, but I can't quite recommend it. It might be better than you think; but worse than you'd hope. It is a small-to-reasonably-sized visual novel with basic systems in place to keep gameplay engaging, and a quaint setting I actually still kind of like after going through it. And the places where the tone shifts can be good. You might be able to imagine due to the screenshots, but people do get killed, and the main character sometimes has compelling reactions. Also, the creators…

This game taking inspiration from DDLC should give you almost all the explanation you need to understand what this game is about... ALMOST. The game lets you choose either gender but you will notice dialogue was made for you playing as a guy, not a girl. Still it is a harem dating sim so you know the target audience. The story is simple, you are attending a magical girl highschool since you have magical powers and are the only guy to do so. Which means endless highschool girls to choose from.…

This visual novel is a freaking roller coaster. Happy go lucky one moment and then something horrendous the next. Has a varied soundtrack with a main theme that had me sitting on the main menu more than a few times. The CGs are very well done and actually lead to some disappointment... You're always introduced to a new girl via a CG scene before seeing her character sprite. Those sprites are a far cry from the CG, specifically how the hair looks completely flat for the sprite. I enjoyed the game for what it was, definitely something more than what I bargained for. Maybe a few wtf moments in the game (or a lot depending on you). Dialogue with the different characters and learning their backstories were intriguing enough for me There's a definitely a grind for affection points with the girls at the end so be ready and have a "fun" experience with the game. :)

The ending is the laziest, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cop-out possible from a horror story. All buildup the story had completely disappeared. I still enjoyed the ride though, and the art is nice to look at.

I've never been so incredibly bored while reading a visual novel/dating sim. This was painfully mediocre. How To Date A Magical Girl isn't terrible in every aspect, but it definitely flops in a lot of areas. I'll start off with something that's easier for me to talk about: The art. It's honestly not bad. The sprites, backgrounds, and CGs all look nice. When they're not together. The sprites are fine on their own, but seeing them right after CGs and next to the backgrounds makes them look…

Your honour, the game is mid. Overall I found this game kinda average. It's not bad i think? The characters are likeable and the art is nice. But It's just not that good either. I don't hate it but I don't actively like it either. It's just kind of underwhelming. I think "there're all actually AIs" is kind of like the sci-fi version of "and it was all a dream....!" . Also the game lets you pick either to play as a male or female protagonist, but the game is so clearly very??…

Summary ------------------ The illustrations are above average and you can say that they look like some manga or anime screenshots. The plot is twisted a lot, but in reality, it is too long, I think, could be done shorter since there aren't many events happening. Music contains a small number of tracks so be ready for that. Also looks like developers like to throw flashlights in your sight without any warning (it isn't that harmful to the eyes but this game is definitely not for those, who…

I recommend this game with some caveats. I liked the girls. They had distinct personalities and pretty cool character designs. Sadly, they only shown in CGs, of which there were few of. The regular artwork is serviceable but only Yui and Miyu actually look good in it. I appreciated that they had the option to play as a female MC, but most of the game was clearly written for a male character. The beach even was especially bad for that. Your grades end up not mattering at all to the plot. They…

Not the worst Vn, but defiantly not good either. I only have so many hours cuz I would leave the game open as a tabbed away to do something more interesting
