What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 182 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (479 of 515 positive).
Players praise Humanity as a polished and clever puzzle game reminiscent of Lemmings. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the game has a compelling story and unique presentation. [4][5][6] A few players criticize the removal of online features and user-generated content. [7][8][9]

Online features were dropped on extremely early without an alternative plan other than to delete 30 000 levels of user generated content. Half of the value of the game is gone. Asked the team and devs for further comment and none was given.

Puzzle games come in all shapes and sizes but how many let you (inadvertently) kill hundreds of thousands of people? This puzzle game lets you direct the flow of hordes of humans to get to an the level exit and in doing so you will end up losing many, many people. Some will fall off the edge of the map, others will be tossed to their doom. It's like a highly advanced Lemmings game. And it's an absolute blast. The …

This game went criminally underrated in the mad rush that was 2023 but it is my favorite game of the year (I played most of the big ones but this one really scratched an itch). Humanity is one of the most incredibly polished puzzle games I've ever played. The difficulty is almost perfect to constantly give you the ah ha moment with exceedingly few points of frustration. It is super relaxing, performs amazingly, has …

I picked this game up because it looked absurd. A goofy little puzzle game where you're a glowing dog and you guide endless crowds of wobbly ragdoll people. So I was a little shocked at how much I was engaged in the story, an element I thought was going to be the minimum framework to justify the weird puzzle solving scenarios. Instead I was absolutely hooked by the end of the first chapter, thoroughly enjoying every …

Great puzzle game with plenty of variety

Players who liked HUMANITY talk about great puzzles with variety and clever design; those who didn't talk about online features and user levels removed without warning. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Humanity received "generally favorable reviews", according to review aggregator website Metacritic. Eurogamer praised the way the title raised the stakes throughout the campaign, alongside the content offered outside of it, "there's a level editor, which is terrifyingly powerful, and a near-endless supply of user-made levels to work through, many of which require thinking that is utterly, hopelessly beyond me". The Verge enjoyed the variety of mechanics present, "Humanity's campaign spans 90 levels, and it feels like it's throwing new concepts and ideas at you until the very end". Game Informer felt the game's puzzles could be immensely satisfying to solve, "I often felt there was no way…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Humanity is messy. About 3-4 hours into Humanity I was expecting to place it in my top 5 puzzle games of all time. It is just that good. So, why the negative review? All will be revealed. The first third of Humanity is some of the best logic puzzle gameplay I have ever experienced. It is not extremely complicated, the rules are simple and understated, but the amount of puzzling scenarios it milks out of its simple premise is genuinely impressive. My mind was absolutely tied up into knots on…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish Steam had a middle ground between a positive and a negative review. Humanity’s beginning is great – similar to good old Lemmings, we guide people to the level’s exit, while slowly unlocking new commands and new mechanics. By the end of sequence 2, we can tell people to turn, to do different kinds of jumps, guide them to push blocks, and so on. Then we reach the middle of the game, and two things happen: Humanity takes a dive towards combat, which is weird but ok; and we get…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah removing all the replayability features (user stages sharing) from the game less than 3 years after its release is a ♥♥♥♥ move.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enhance lost a bit of trust removing a key feature from the game with no stated reason or alternative. What a bummer. I can't imagine the costs were very high for this. Or could have just moved to Steam Workshop. It's a shame too, because Enhance's games are good if you like falling block puzzle games (though this game is like a more serious tone Chu Chu Rocket). Maybe get it if it's on a steep discount. Otherwise, I think it's safe to ignore. Especially with the content removal.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally a fresh new take on Lemmings.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To give a sense of the tone of this game, where you play as the soul of a house which has learned to hate Humanity, here's the skill list. You are playing as Hill House.
neutral · AI labelView post →Humanity is a puzzle game that doesn't play fair. The general goal - guide "the people" to beams of light, collecting golden idols along the way - is interesting. Many levels feature fun and thoughtful puzzle design, and were the exact deterministic gameplay I'm looking for in the puzzle games I play. The theme of the game is artistic mumbo-jumbo, but the core mechanic of spatial programming is well-designed and fun. Unfortunately, this game relies on the player understanding detailed…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We gain nothing by accepting generative AI. We gain everything by making a stand against it. Humanity is necessary in the game development process, because without it, you cannot have the creative out-of-the-box thinking which makes so many games special; games with people behind their development.
neutral · AI labelView post →I started my playthrough 2 years ago, and after stopping for a while (preoccupied with life + other games) I decided to pick it back up and finish the entire thing. If you're thinking of buying this game with the notion that it's purely a puzzle game, you're about halfway right. The first half of the game is very reminiscent of Lemmings. Very charming presentation, though the music can admittedly be hit-or-miss. The puzzles are certainly interesting, and there were quite a few of them that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this would be a good game if you could rewind, but you can't. starting entire puzzles over because of a small mistake is not fun, and often requires you re-doing significant amounts of set-up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun game, intriguing story. However, game very quickly starts to depend on you making quick alterations to to achieve bonus objectives. Neither the control scheme, nor the way people move in this game, is conducive to this. Only recommend if you don't really care about 100% maps and struggling with a slightly awkward control scheme.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's inspired by Lemmings but has it's own style. I like it a lot. Great puzzles and with community created levels there is a lot of content!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Almost. God *forced* humanity into making that mistake. He deliberately withheld the ability to develop morality, so they literally could not know it was wrong. The omniscient creator of all things must have known he could have set things up differently and how it would have played out. The omnipotent creator of the universe could have made things any other way. Humanity's fall, according to Christian mythology, was an act of ultimate deliberation.

neutral · AI labelView post →This is just a tarot spread isn't it? I am just "inventing" a table top card game again, aren't I? (I looked it up, these definitely already exist, esp for Game Masters) And if I do a scenario thing, I'm just gonna end up making Cards of Humanity/Apples to Apples aren't I?
neutral · AI labelView post →It's so funny to me that Enshrouded and Palia are the same game just in a different trenchcoat. Humanity was preserved by the Flame (Embra), you wake up in a vault after an apocalypse, build a base(home), explore and solve environmental puzzle in ancient ruins to access lore and treasure.
neutral · AI labelView post →Game start as a great fun puzzle game. But for some reason through out the middle of the game it becomes a tedious micromanagement game, where logic and planning is no longer in the focus but tediously micromanaging of the people that follow you. The game is not bad, but the second half is not what I expected from this game in a bad way. If you are looking for a calm puzzle game this might not be the right game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A thinking person's dog walking simulator. Transcendent.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Modern lemmings? If that sounds at all like something you'd enjoy, play this game. If you don't know what lemmings is... I'm too old to describe this game to you in a compelling way. It's puzzles. Good ones.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really just... so wonderful. A Lemmings-style game where you, as a little glowing dog, lead a (sometimes) never-ending army of humans as they march to your commands (often to their doom). Solve puzzles, which sometimes involve fighting, sometimes involve blocks, and sometimes involve giant glowy gold people. There's also a level editor with a ton of user-created levels that can be accessed in-game, so that's a plus.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Humanity is not a game, it's a masterpiece. Humanity is art. Humanity gives a meaning to life. Humanity makes people better. Humanity is hope. Humanity is light. Humanity is humanity.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Humanity needs more games like this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun puzzle game, it feels like advanced lemmings. I wouldn't pay full price, but definitely pick it up if you see it on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a fun game with decent puzzles to contend with. It felt like a refreshing spiritual successor to games like lemmings but with a richer tone and some philosophical subjects thrown in.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great puzzles, great music, great art direction. Proper psychedelic ending 🧙 Good stuff!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a decent-ish puzzle game, at least most of the time. The puzzles aren't mind blowing, but they do the job. It's fun to play and the plot is also a welcome one. The game has huge potential in terms of community levels, I have to admit. I believe the game was designed in such a minimalistic style exactly because of this. It also looks cool as hell in VR, sadly my old HTC Vive didn't work (also didn't put any effort in trying to fix it, so maybe it's possible to use them). But the game has…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the general idea of this game but the execution is a bit off. I find myself constantly wrestling with the camera and the platformer side of things is just annoying - that side of the game feels very scuffed and out of place. Would love to see this remade as a straight puzzle game without the annoying bits.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disappoint puzzle game: The game introduces new rules, gimmicks and tools every few level, which is fine and all, but there is basically no depth to it. There was no hard puzzle so far (dropped it in Act 5 "War"). the puzzles that took a while didn't take this long because they were difficult, but because they were grindy, figuring out the right timing or order. There are very few good puzzles in between (e.g. Trial 05-B "Reverse Course"), but most are hardly even puzzles. I hoped for more…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A unique puzzle game which I can recommend in parts, and an under baked frustrating mishmash of genres that undermines the core strengths of the game at others. - This isn't a game where you can plan, set the puzzle into motion and watch your efforts come to fruition; some puzzles require active modifications as they progress (particularly puzzles with belts and boss battles) and this can become a source of frustration. - The goldy start off as an interesting side objective with some QOL…
