Many players find the game enjoyable for its cozy, relaxing vibe and satisfying base-building loop. [1][2][3] Several reviewers criticize the game for being overly grindy and repetitive, especially in the later stages. [4][5][6] Some players report technical issues like long loading screens, stuttering, and buggy minion AI. [7][8][9]

I thought this looked like an interesting game originally. But after spending 17 hours with the game and realizing what the gameplay loop was like for the past 10 hours, I can't recommend this game. It is very repetitive, having you clean areas of resources over and over to upgrade each machine several times to make one more advanced material. The story is non existant and doesn't make any of this worth caring …

It's really not that cozy, it's more like a janky mess, I really wanted to like this game, and I came back after some time when the 1.0 came out. This game is a mess, it's full of minigames that are really fun the first 10 times, than you realize minigames is all there is in this game and you'll be doing them every time you want to gather resources, which you'll need a lot of. NPC movement is really bad, you'll find …

I absolutely love this game! Like the title says, it is indeed a "cozy" survival game. You collect recipes, you build a base, you cook and eat so you don't die (except I don't even think you could die? You might just pass out for awhile...?), and all without Zombies or Werewolves overrunning your base at night trying to convert or eat you! I mean I guess you still have some enemies, but they're pretty easy to deal …

Do I recommend this game? Maybe — but with a lot of caveats. I Am Future has a great concept and all the ingredients to be something special, but for me it landed squarely in the “just okay” category. I really wanted to love it. Cozy apocalypse games are my thing, and this felt like it had the potential to be great — it just never quite got there. The core idea is solid. Cleaning up rooftops, scavenging, building …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tiny builds needs to stop trying to crank out so many games. They have an interesting idea or mechanic, make a concept game around it that has a lot of potential. Then just never see it through. The EA is always so fun and promising, then they just rush the final product and move on to the next game. I'm done.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I deeply enjoyed this game during it's early access phase, I thought there was going to be SO much to the game, then one day randomly they dropped the 1.0 - SUPER excited to finally see the whole game, only to be left sorely disappointed. Half the roofs that were 'coming soon' never did, the storyline abruptly ended as if it was wrapped up as quickly as possible. While saying all this, I sunk some serious hours into this game and I did enjoy playing it, I just felt it could have been so much…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been following this game loosely for years now, and while I had never committed to playing the game until recently, it always kept me interested just from the theme and concept of a cozy survival game. I will say, I really enjoyed the first bit of the game, but when I got to the later half of the mid-game, I realized this game simply just wants your time, and not in a good way. The loading screens take forever and the game stutters when you enter or exit just about any menu. Now, these…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll be honest. I really wanted to like this game. I just don't. It claims to be a cozy game... but instead it's an unfun grindy mess. You need 100's of basic resources just to get out of the early game, and until then, the only way to get these are to go on daily expeditions (where your reward is 3-6 base resource per day) or fishing, where again, it's 3 or 4 piece of base resource. SO you end up spending DAYS sleeping, fishing, waiting and repeating over and over and over again just to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was enjoying this. Though the game still has bugs and has been abandonned by the developpers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not so much a survival sim as a led by the nose linear adventure with a veneer of crafting and survival. On the plus side the art is colorful and cozy. In the end this is a cute but boring game, mislabeled as a survival game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game last week to procrastinate on cleaning my room. It looked gorgeous and chill, and the happy vibes were much needed with January's morose greys. I booted it up and was immediately intrigued by the green apocalypse around me. There were hints of dystopian tragedies, ecological disasters, and most of all, a great mystery of what even happened. And so I set out to have a good time and uncover this world. I have now played this game for 43 hours, and I can say now that what this…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually like this game fine. It's pretty nice for a cozy afternoon or two. However, the game breaks randomly about every ten minutes. Your character starts jittering and warping around, and it gets very difficult to go where you want to go, so you have to save, quit back to menu, then reload the game. The developers appear to have acknowledged this problem in the game forums about two years ago, with a promise that a fix was one the way, however, there has been no word since then. I'd…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, it may look absurd from an outside point of view that a player with so many hours would leave a negative review, but I have my reasons. Let me explain x) Basically, the game feels like a mobile game where you spend a crazy amount of time completing tasks, cleaning areas, gathering resources, and so on. The premise is that eventually you won't need to do much because everything will be automated... Don't fall into that trap. The guy in the trailer is usually spending 2–5 minutes…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate to say it, but I ended up not liking it much. I was expecting...well, not an open world game. But a game where I could sort of set my objectives and gather my resources and do things in the way I wanted to do them. But instead, everything here seems to want to be completed in a specific order. To unlock This, you need That. To unlock That, you need Another Thing. You have to more or less process in a seemingly linear order....there are few points where you are free to "explore",…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the second half of the game some bugs appear that you simply can’t fix. After checking the forums, I found out the only option is to start over from scratch and the same bug can happen again, so 15+ hours can just go to waste. The developers seem to ignore player reports, so the game is basically unplayable and impossible to be finished. It’s really frustrating that this wasn’t known earlier - wouldn’t have even started the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It starts good, but in the end it's just grind. 1. Chests/inventory are too small leading to messy inventory, constantly having to micromanage inventory. 2. In the end there is just grinding for grinding sake. Collect 50 of each base resource, then 30 of each advanced resource (thats where I quit) and there was 1 more step. 3, Fishing is sooooooooo boring after 300 fishes. And you need to fish to progress and it's the only way to get oil that you need alot of. 4. Minions are a lot worse…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay loop is addictive, I give it that. I just tore myself away from the game after a six hour session. I rarely play that long in one sitting for multiple reasons, but the game had enough incremental progression and dangling carrots to give that "just 5 more minutes" vibe that addictive games tend to have. Usually it is grand strategy games that hook me like that (Total War, Civilization, Stellaris, etc.), but I Am Future managed to do it as well. Very addictive. But unfortunately…

neutral · AI labelView post →love a game with "coziness levels" where 1/3 of the settings are about leeches (the game is I Am Future)
positive · AI labelView post →It's a fun game for like ten hours maybe, but after that it's just managing the ♥♥♥♥ load of resources you get and then making one build that needs way too many resources. If it's not lack of resources it's needing to wait for something to craft or grow or something else. It it's pretty fun, but there is just a lack of content to play it for a long time and the achievements are a real drag to get.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As beautiful as the game is, I cant recommend it in its current state. Played it for a little over 40 hours and I started losing interest around the 15-20 hour mark. The game is just lacking in too many areas right now. Hopefully there is more to come but until then its just not worth playing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I agonized for a while on whether I Am Future gets a recommend out of me or not. There is a lot of very enjoyable game here, but ultimately I believe the devs' ambition outweighed the systems they had built, resulting in a game that feels bloated and pointless in its attempts to create a satisfying end-game. I Am Future is at its absolute best in the opening act. Getting yourself more space and supplies with meaningful upgrades around each corner and new areas to unlock feels incredibly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Today, we're chilling with with I Am Future. I really like the game! Also, wow my thighs are sore from yesterday 😅 ❄twitch.tv/2dkiri
positive · AI labelView post →Very monotonous, BUT very cozy and can be nice and relaxing for those looking for a chill survival game. The "enemies" were just nuisances and the fishing was extremely repetitive but unfortunately a necessity to finish the game... Worth the price if on a deep sale, can't recommend otherwise.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is not intuitive at all, I'm constantly on wiki's and forums trying to figure out how and where to find things. Also, apparently according to some other reviews, it's basically been abandoned or developers really aren't troubleshooting anymore- which is concerning because I have had some points where the game has frozen up on me for a bit. Basically, if you want to have to figure out, literally, how to survive an apocalypse -then give it a try because the game explains NOTHING but bare…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an automation game disguised as a survival game. From the start I lowered the hunger speed, because it was frustrating. Interested in exploring the rooftops, I endured the boring gameplay. Then the mid game arrived and the real grind started. Can't bear to finish it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes, I really enjoy I Am Future. It's a fun chill game and I am in need of chill. Come and hang out / chat with me 😃 ❄twitch.tv/2dkiri
positive · AI labelView post →the game is genuine choreslop, like every task feels aimless and nothing feels rewarding. i keep picking up the game because I was still hoping there would be better things to do once you unlock other areas but its just another location to tidy up and farm resources.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great opportunity to recommend I Am Future, a survival game with this theme. It has a coziness slider!. You just want to potter around and dismantle things and not worry about the evil slugs that eat your lettuce at night? Coziness slider up!
positive · AI labelView post →A lot of people say this game is bad because of the pointless repetition of the tasks or the bad minion UI. I didn't mind that stuff. I don't mind a little mind numbing task completion and the minions were so unnecessary as a whole that I mostly found their incompetence amusing. I didn't even mind that although this game is well past full release, it still has a terrible lag problem. What made me uninstall this game after 25 hours was that it's supposed to be a cozy game, has settings to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →37h | 100% Hard to recommend this game, but I did spend 37 hours in it and got all the achievements. It starts off nicely, but the more you progress, the more frustrating it gets. Lack of basic QoL, buggy robots that get stuck in the open field, stutters when swapping inventory tabs... Automatization is underwhelming - you still have to do a lot of things manually. The story is very basic. The dialogue tries to be funny but fails miserably. There is only 1 song on repeat, which you'll disable…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game. A bit overslow in some progression. Bad 100% with Roofer and Odysseus for different reasons. And why the hell do the loading screens take so long? it is not a complex environment to load. 7 / 10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is fun at first but somehow every single mechanic manages to overstay it's welcome. Almost every action is a minigame which is cool and diegetic at first but becomes very frustrating on the 100th time and never gets better through progression. Related upgrades are all basically "the bar fills 20% faster" but the stumble is still mandatory, And nothing in the game ever gets solved. There are several flowers that spawn leeches that eat your crops and create damaging puddles. And at some…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Previous Review I liked the game and am still waiting for update, but the last update's in March and I wrote this review in October. Feels like the game is ditched--so, I can't recommend this game. My Current Update I thought long and hard if I should even update this review but the comments from other player actually helped me make the decision!! For a game at this price point, the dev was rather quick to leave the game for a new project. What I find most interesting is the dev's response:…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So when i grabbed this game I was like huh looks like a decent fun game to play casually. And now that im done the game I can say it is that but holy is the grind just a slog. like most of the mid and end game stuff is just slow to gather materials. the game has no stakes so it makes a sort of sense why theres no rush, but still i found myself really annoyed looking for materials and crap i need to craft whatever i needed next... if it wasnt a rather hard/tedious to get. But the worst part of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an endless grind. Get food, salvage, built, sleep ... repeat. It's just not an enjoyable ecperience. Removed from my games collection.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It gets pretty stale and grindy after a short time. esp. the base recources are annoying to get. I think the estetic is nice, but it isn't game play wise that satisfying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had this game in early access which I put about 20 hours in but when they released the full game it put in another 14 hours and restarted the game. I was hopping that they would add meaning full content. well they did not. this game is so repetitive. you are just clicking and waiting. The enemies are just annoying and do not really attack your base. You do just ignore them 99% of the time. After playing for 5 hours today I realized I had just wasted 34 hours of my life. I get games are a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The start is very standard with a bit of sauce, I came from ReStory (which I adored) and it was very charming to see that those deconstructing mechanics actually came from this! I understand what they were going with cozy. Unfortunately, manual work does not always makes an experience cozy... There are some baffling game design decisions here. I want to clarify that this was my experience, as a guy who loves games like Minecraft, Satisfactory, Planet Crafter, Forager, Raft, Valheim, etc.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's cozy, but there's not enough progress to feel like you're advancing. There's a lot of grinding, there's a lot of searching. It stalls out at multiple points. I tried it, but this might not be for everyone.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is fun for the first 20 hours, building up your own base, upgrading your tools, getting some minions. With the 1.0 and nanoforge release it feels more of the same, but even grindier. Minion AI is still stupid and a lot of the new progression is very grindy and repetitive and more of the same at the start, but without any more of that achievement or exploration. Still recommending its gameplay though, $1 per hour of gameplay. Don't expect to see more though, I think their team is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game. I kept playing, hoping the pacing would improve, the grind would ease off, and base-building would get more interesting. It didn't. After 12 hours I'm about 10% through, and I wish I'd refunded it in the first two hours. Performance is bad. The game freezes and stutters a lot, and even the UI lags, and my base is barely built. It's not a hardware issue, it is a software issue. Also, the game seems abandoned. It came out in late 2024 and stopped getting…

neutral · AI labelView post →Rating: 7/10. It has an interesting story and good mechanics. But this game still needs some 'quality of life' tweaks such as: > Dead time on fishing. You do not need to constantly sit down after every hook. > Ability to plant and harvest biomass. Main resource to craft basic mats such as plastics and scrap metal > Large Quantity Options on crafting benches Either add the amount you can craft bulbs on the work bench or like a workflow queue for the presses and farming table. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a good time with this one. The graphics are nice, the gameplay feels smooth and building your little rooftop base is fun. My only real issue is that I expected a bit more. More areas to explore, more content and a longer progression. It isn't a short game but I still felt like it ended a little too soon. Overall, I enjoyed it and don't regret buying it. Just finished it wanting more which is both a good and a bad thing.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the definition of "i'll just quickly do this one last thing and then i'll hop off", but you never actually hop off. You slowly unlock one thing at a time to keep progressing, and it just keeps you hooked. 8/10. I forgot about my family.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am Future is basically a good-looking rooftop hamster wheel. There's a ton of work, followed by more work. However, satisfaction is in short supply. Pros -- It's beautiful -- There's a flying backpack with a lovely smile. -- There are lots of crops and crafting materials (Although, other than to find worms for fishing, I don't see the purpose in farming. So far, everything that I need is easily found in the 'wild'.) -- There's a simple mini-game where you strip appliances for parts.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I Am Future: Cozy Apocalypse Survival is one of those games that you wish was better than it is. The premise is a reasonable one... you wake up in a cryopod after everyone on Earth is gone, the polar caps have melted and the land is gone. The only habitable "land" is rooftops... so your survival involves growing a rooftop garden and feeding yourself. This in turn revolves around a tedious grind to collect resources and craft things.
