What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 12 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (80 of 97 positive).

This game was a massive surprise for me, I wasn't expecting much when I purchased but can honestly say its up there with the best games of 2022 for me. if you enjoy games like little nightmares, among the sleep, limbo/inside & papa & yo you will absolutely love this game! its very polished, had no problems with it and it runs great on steam deck. i feel this game has gone under the radar which is a shame and …

When I started the game, the scene showed up in front of me was a style of dark fairy tales, which is very attractive with the special back ground music. Now let me talk about my personal feeling. 1.The difficulty is gradual and easy to master, level setting is very sophisticated. 2.The plot presented in the game shocked me, and made me think about myself quite a lot, which pushed the artistry of the game to a …

charming horror game, the atmosphere is good, a bit repetitive and a very odd plot, but its worth a playtrough. if anything for the art and the puzzles.

I would like to be neutral, but I have to choose yes or no and it sadly is more no. The artstyle is beautiful, the music is great, the story is good and the world design is amazing. Then why is it a no? I really don't like the game mechanics. There are too many enemies and you have no clue where to go. You don't have a map and it's really frustating to find your way through the monsters. And you have to hide every …

I found this indie isometric horror game to be more frustrating than enjoyable. This is because it quickly turns into a hide from the monster game with no way to defend yourself and no manual save. You constantly keep getting caught by the monsters because they can easily detect you, even when crouched and hiding in the shadows. Your stamina meter also drops quickly, so you can't outrun them. There is also an …

50% of the 12 Steam reviewers we collected recommend In Nightmare. The complaint that keeps coming up: frustrating stealth with no map. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

60 of 76 · most liked firstThis is not a one-off reprimand, if you turn off the game in Nightmare of Druaga without saving, Gil gets thoroughly whipped by Ishtar for like 2 minutes. Only thing that gets close is when I had to say sorry out loud MULTIPLE TIMES to the NDS microphone when I accidentally turned off LovePlus.
positive · AI labelView post →Last night, I started playing this because I found it at a pawn shop. I heard it was kind of like DMC. I then saw the Capcom logo show up and I lost my shit. The game is Devil May Cry in Nightmare Before Christmas, with original songs. There's are even style rankings. Surprisingly good game, too.
positive · AI labelView post →The cover is hella cool stuff, so for fans of Toothy Alien Horror like I am, I'll share it here. Marine Philt is the second game in Nightmare Collection II that also included Dead of the Brain.
neutral · AI labelView post →In many ways, Bladestorm Nightmare feels like the last PS2 game, an action-strategy game filled with peak Koei cruft and an increasingly unhinged fantasy story in Nightmare mode. If you miss 6/10 genre experiments that are arguably more interesting when they don’t work, I can’t recommend it enough.
positive · AI labelView post →- The tone of the game will be more serious than the previous ones. - To give you an idea, I see the game as a mix between Broken Sword and The First Omen. - After two games, portraits are making a return, like in Nightmare Frames. 👇

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A clumsy stealth adventure game without good story or interesting gameplay. We have to run from monsters in a made-up boy's world whom nobody loved. That's why he decided to live in a coma. The authors show us again and again how hard it is to be Bill. After the 20th time someone scolds him for no reason, you stop feeling sorry for him. Because he's just pathetic and weak whiner. You just accept this. The game bored me after the second chapter. It isn't fun. The camera angle is awful—you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developed by Chinese company Beijing Magic Fish Technology Co., Ltd., In Nightmare is very reminiscent of games like Inside, Little Nightmares (In Nightmare?), Limbo, and so on. With a very creepy vibe and some light puzzles, the game will tell a history of trauma, and how a child deals with feelings she's not prepared to understand. With no bugs I've noticed in my 1 hour and a half of gameplay, the game seems extremely polished. You can check my first hour here: https://youtu.be/ttn7AjQpucg
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Since I erased the info from other sites after leaving them because they suck. In Nightmare Circus there is a hidden password screen you get the code for after beating the game normally. Z,A,D,D,A,Mode,Z,B,A,Z,A,A,R. You can enter this on the title screen using a 6 Button controller. - cont.

neutral · AI labelView post →I've played like 4+ runs in Nightmare/One Life trying out different routes and endings and i'd still would happily go back to this game to try outlandish starts for fun. NOTHING has came close to the thrill, anxiety and genuine enjoyment from playing this game
positive · AI labelView post →At long last, Dungeon doors will no longer block players as they speed clear: all doors will be open in Nightmare Dungeons, so players can carve through demons without dying to the door boss. #diablo #diabloIV www.wowhead.com/diablo-4/new...

positive · AI labelView post →if i had the choice i would choose the middle, however it's to recommend or not to recommend so i chose to not recommend. the game is simple, atleast with controls, however it's simplicity is it's downfall. it can get boring quickly. it's run, crouch, maybe throw once or twice and that's it.the story doesn't really grasp me either so i lost interest. there are puzzles, however i never ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ understand them. i do have a bad record with puzzles in gaming so keep that in mind. i had to pull up…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sometimes I wonder what a game would look like if a big studio used all those resources and all that manpower but just said "Screw it, nothing in this can look better than anything in Nightmare Creatures for the Playstation 1!" What scale/ambition would that have? How quickly could it get made?
neutral · AI labelView post →Turns out Amazing Mirror’s Boss Rush is crazy easy if you just spam Final Cutter from the Smash ability - comes with i-frames and everything lmaoo! Bit sad there’s no bonus Metaknightmare mode like in Nightmare in Dreamland, but at least I have another 100% Kirby game in my achievements 👍✨

neutral · AI labelView post →In Nightmare is a pretty good horror adventure game, okay then the story. In a hospital a young man named Bill Thompson is in a deep sleep after suffering so much tragedy in his young life he finds himself unable to face the real world, now in a deep, deep coma he dreams, but his dreams are not pleasant ones as he is trapped in a nightmare world where he must confront his past and his trauma to wake up or else he shall sleep forever. Okay what are the likes, the story is good I like how it…

It's fun and free and messed up in all the right ways, perfect for spooky season. Monster Plush of the Week Sonic.exe recommends it too See you next time!
positive · AI labelView post →genuinely love this game and the way it works but this is my biggest gripe. i am always underleveled in games despite me trying not to be. so then i get put in Nightmare Mode for no reason other than my brain works differently than the game designers intend 😭
neutral · AI labelView post →For a game plus DLC that now costs under $10, BROTATO gave me 215 hours of play to get Danger 5 done on everything in base game and then in DLC. (No interest in Nightmare difficulty so I can play other things now.)
positive · AI labelView post →Conducted my third run of Doom The Dark Ages today, Nightmare. I burnt out on my second going in Nightmare full sliders being inspired by my Doomish peers. WORST idea. I should have slowly elevated the difficulty as I played the game several times, not jumped. I'm enjoying it so much more now.
positive · AI labelView post →He used this card in Nightmare Troubadour and I remember resetting my DS when he played it because I thought it was so OP. Then again I was, like, 10, and total garbage at the game.
neutral · AI labelView post →Finished what I’d consider to be the “Prologue” of Cooking Companions and I am loving EVER SECOND!!! (It’s soooo good) We’ll be playing it every Monday until I have seen all the game had to offer so next week, consider swinging by while I scream my brains out in Nightmare Mode~
positive · AI labelView post →Interestingly, I noticed after finishing the game that only about 7% of people played the game in Nightmare mode. Judging by reddit, it's the default gameplay experience for everyone. Vocal minority, I guess.
neutral · AI labelView post →Played my first trails game in Nightmare mode with Horizon and honestly that wasn't as bad as I heard it was. Besides the beginning and some close calls on 1-2 fights, I breezed thru most fights endgame. Every fight I saw people complaining about I breezed thru LOL

neutral · AI labelView post →Thanks, yeah it seems like a small detail but truly it’s quite sad without his endearments! I’m going to take Guy on another pt after I finish this one to attempt rogue in Nightmare, and hopefully on the replay I can try and avoid the bug, maybe I need to reinstall the game before that replay?

neutral · AI labelView post →I don't think I should've done my first playthrough in Nightmare- (or stay up all night dying what feels like 200 times for the last few levels) Because this game gets ROUGH in a way that's a bit above my own appetite. But I did this to myself. #Viscerafest
negative · AI labelView post →Now streaming Alan Wake. Link's in my bio. "But Akibit, I thought you finished the game!" Well, I want to reexperience Alan Weeb in Japanese dub! and collect manuscript in Nightmare difficulty too so here we are. Don't expect me to understand those runic words though.

neutral · AI labelView post →Did they somehow miss the whole Neve questline and the scene where Aelia turned people's bodies into bloody waterparks? Gave me the same sort of fascinated ick I got from the marionette scene in Nightmare on Elm Street 3. I swear they didn't play the game.

positive · AI labelView post →Oh my god there's a Castlevania Symphony of the Night reference in this game lmao In Nightmare Korras arcade mode Sokka says "DIE MONSTER, YOU DONT BELONG IN THIS WORLD" before fighting 😭😭😭
neutral · AI labelView post →Knights in Nightmare has 134 game systems working at once. Drakengard makes every new ending weirder and more horrible than the last. And the Deception series had a rocky start but gave us "crush guys with Monty Python foot, then recycle body parts into monsters."
neutral · AI labelView post →if i ever make my game, idk i'd want the MC in Nightmare Kart or any other game like that. i have no beef w any devs, i just only like TrackMania. i like my racing games arcade, kart-less, and endlessly janky in the best way possible and TM is the only one i know to fit that bill precisely

neutral · AI labelView post →In Nightmare is a moody, introspective horror adventure that aims to blend stealth, puzzle-solving, and psychological storytelling into a single dreamlike experience. Rather than relying on gore or shock value, Magic Fish Games focuses on emotional vulnerability and childhood trauma, building a surreal nightmare world that symbolizes the inner turmoil of a young boy struggling with abandonment and fear. From the opening scene, the game establishes a somber, oppressive tone: the protagonist…
