Jack Move has the bones of a great game. The pixel art and aesthetic are great. The soundtrack is amazing and a true highlight of the game. Noa is an attractive and appealing heroine and MC. The RAM/Hardware/Software system is interesting. But unfortunately the game lacks the muscle to be a recommendation. The world looks cool. It is small, but that's OK. So is Kamuro-cho in Like a Dragon. The difference is that …

A turn-based JRPG where hacking feels like magic. It delivers a punchy cyberpunk revenge story against a megacorp in a short but memorable playthrough.

Jack Move is a solid, short cyberpunk RPG that respects your time. The game's greatest strengths are its presentation; the pixel art is stylish and the soundtrack does a good job of creating a pretty atmospheric world. It's a polished experience that ran flawlessly for me on both Windows and Linux. The main drawback is the combat. The battle system starts off promising but becomes quite repetitive by the end, …

This is a fun little pixelart cyberpunk JRPG. It's fairly short (I think I finished it in just under 6 hours), but I had a great time with it nonetheless.

Jack Move is a traditional japanese role-playing game (JRPG) except it's not Japanese and you don't have a group. The pixel-art animations were very good, but I found the graphics of the decors a bit generic and boring. Too many software upgrades in the store offered from the getgo, and it was overwhelming. I did not like how limited in RAM slots you were throughout, limiting your battle choices severely. The …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is too short and a bit boring at the beginning. after that, it becomes more interesting. when I saw the features, I thought the gameplay would be a bit deeper, but it's actually simple and repetitive, and you reach the max levels pretty quickly. the soundtrack and animations are great. I’d only recommend this game if it’s on sale

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't understand why this game isn't rated higher, like overwhelmingly positive. It was just so consistently satisfying, right from the start. Main character looks energetic when moving, other characters have bouncing animations even when standing in place? Love it. Noir city where it always rains, lit by neon lights? Hell yeah. Banging soundtrack, satisfying sounds for both effective and less effective attacks? Yes yes yes. It's just a super polished love letter to cyberpunk genre,…

I had to transfer my save to a Windows environment using the Heroic launcher (I have Steam side-loaded on Heroic), and the achievements started unlocking fine from that point on, but not retroactively. I missed a couple of story achievements from the early part of the game and will have to replay to get those. The game itself ran perfectly on Mac, no performance issues at all. It's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I accidently got sucked into Lost Sphear. Don't send help. I'm also enjoying Jack Move as a side game. Highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for cyberpunk with a retro turn-based combat style. It's giving a hint of the old SNES Shadowrun and a huge dose of sassy hacker lady.
positive · AI labelView post →6.5/10 + story + music + art - combat - short. outside of combat, only about 2.5 hours of story and gameplay - deaths costs a % of your earned xp over the full game.... i hate that, never do that agian. just gonna atl f4 and reload my last auto save. wasting my time would grab on sale needs to be longer combat could be improved needs more party members, just you the entire time

positive · AI labelView post →I was in no hurry to play this game, having pretty well burned myself out on turn-based RPGs in the 90's, but I decided to finally give it a shot yesterday. While I was working on a project that had a lot of long pauses in the process, I figured I could play this game to keep myself entertained during those pauses. I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable this game was to play. Decent story and straightforward game play wrapped up in a cyberpunk world. It is fairly short for a typical RPG,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short game, ended before it began. My hours spent on this game does not reflect how long it takes to clear. Could be done in 5 hours easily. Shouldn`t have bothered reacheing max level. Protagonist childish with annoying dialogue. Maybe someone`s cup of tea, but not mine.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is cool and all, BUT: Few side quests and different map interactions. The game is extremely short; after doing everything there was to do, I finished it in 4 hours. The final battle was a terrible experience. The battles in general are "hit the enemy with what they're weak and then heal yourself." There are numerous abilities, but none are worth using, except those that cause damage. That said, the game is beautiful, with incredibly good music. It's a shame that the story is so…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the vibe of this game, the music and the visual. The pixel artstyle is actually great, I can even read the signs and the grafities on the wall when most other similar style games dont even bother to make them readable. but thats about it of what i can say nice things about this game. The battles are underwhelming, they tried to add elemental damages for varieties but you can just brute force your way thru it. Level scaling of 90% of the enemies isn't even there, after i reached lvl 15 i…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I find Jack Move a pretty good game. The graphics and animations are great, sound design and especially music is superb. The story is pretty straightforward, but enjoyable from start to finish and didn't drag too much. There are several open areas to explore, there are a lot of mini details in them. Areas with main missions are quite linear, so it never overstays its welcome. I think exploration, dialogues and all the mini sidequests are fun to engage with, but the battles are a bit too…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very enjoyable game although I wouldn't call it a cyberpunk game. It takes the slang from Neuromancer and hacker culture but applies it to a world that is sugarcoated, Disney-like. In fact, no one you meet seems to be unhappy despite the rule of omnipresent megacorporations. The graphics are great and the music is pretty good but, again, pretty upbeat. No dark and moody synthwave tunes here. It's pretty short but that's fine. The game's simple mechanics (no party, limited character…

positive · AI labelView post →I love this game, but I cannot give it a good review, thanks to the final boss being the least fun slog of my LIFE. The final boss, avoiding spoilers of whom or what, seems to have a dodge rating of 80+%, meaning that my attacks almost always miss. This deplorable being is already a massive HP sponge with six or more digits of total HP. This combined with me missing roughly 80% of my attacks is, frankly, utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jack Move is a short rpg with a basic rock, paper, scissors combat gameplay. It's very basic in gameplay but it has a cute charm to it. The world is colorful and the animations are lovely to see. My main critique for the game would be it's endgame content. The sudden difficulty spike that comes is ridiculous, the game sorta warns you about this by telling not to disable the random combat encounters (So you have enough exp to level up properly) but even if you do that correctly, the sudden…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't like characters, especially MC. She looks cute and her art is good, but she's so insufferable and unlikeable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →back with day 3 of the new game trying! today, we try Jack Move! looks like its a kind of RPG type thing set in a dystopian cyberpunk future? i remember watching another streamer play a bit of this some time ago, and have been wanting to try it myself for a little while now www.twitch.tv/bearnardvt

neutral · AI labelView post →This game is overall pretty good. It's on the shorter side, but you can tell it takes its inspiration from previous 16 bit classic RPGs. It's nice to get a RPG with a more scifi/cyberpunk theme. The art is really well done. The music is pretty good, however it can get a bit repetitive. This game sticks around just long enough to be fun without dragging things out. Honestly, if you're looking for a shorter RPG that sticks to the basics and does them really well, this is a good option.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jack Move finished! What a great little game! Had fun gameplay, written well and perfect length for the story told. Very impressive! And the music actually got me moving while playing which is a rare achievement 😁💚🖤 @empika.co.uk @criticalgamesau.bsky.social #JackMove #InfiniteAlliance
positive · AI labelView post →I played it for about half an hour. I love jrpgs. I don't mind repetitive combat. But the intro was so very meh I couldn't bring myself to play it longer. The enemies at the start are not engaging at all, and you can easily beat them without thinking about what you're doing. But it's the writing that put the nail in the coffin for me. See, every single character in this game uses a fake IT/gamer slang, forcing random computer words in random places of the conversation. I dont even know that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short, simple, JRPG type game. Fun but the final boss is extremely hard and the fight goes on forever. I think 20% of my playtime was just fighting it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too short, only worth it with a big discount. Otherwise, good game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall a short (<10h) and slightly boring single party member rpg. Despite being set in a dystopian world the game feels way too cozy. And the turn based battles are too repetitive to be interesting. The pixelart is pretty good at times, especially the animations. And the german translation ist sehr gut und oftmals richtig witzig. But that doesn't save it from being boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not bother with this game. For starters the game is generic and very typical rpg affair. It's pretty easy to begin with but that final boss is absolute BS. Sure it's an rpg where u can level up to overcome the final boss but the way the boss is handle is insanely unfair. Removing your special move, giving the boss 2 moves per a turn and the constant debuffs inflicted is beyond fun. I would say that for the first 80 percent the game was alright at best but that final boss I just couldn't be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jack Move has a lot of style with some unique and funny dialogue. For a indie game, I'd say it's a success; at least laying the foundation for further games in the future. With that being said, there are some flaws that hold it back from being better than a passing grade. The game's story is disappointing. With all of the futuristic style put into the environment, the story doesn't do enough to create a compelling world. The story in itself is short as well. I should mention that the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun unexpected gem. Worth a try if you like classic RPGs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a pretty ok game for in-between. A bit short and not truly inspired. Absolutely OK game. The story is ok. The battle system is ok. The battles are repetitive and get cumbersome. All in all: mediocre but ok at the price
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While not a bad game, I do feel like the flaws weigh down on its strengths. One of those strengths being the combat system. You have a limited number of skills you can have equipped at once, depending on your upgrades, which can be swapped out mid battle if the enemy you're fighting has an elemental resistance to the skills you have. Stronger skills take up more slots so you're gonna find yourself swapping these out a lot to fit the current situation. These build up your Jack Move meter, which…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A ginger with BPD and daddy issues living in a world where most conflicts are resolved in VRchat must, for some reason, save her dad from a megacorporation in a plot so cliche and droll it's physically painful. All in service of the third-least cyberpunk game I have played. It reminds of an equally poorly designed and poorly written game - Subterrean - in that it's chock full of characters that are either vectors for spork humor or strawmen for the developers to vent their frustrations upon.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty decent turn base game. The naming schemes I feel just doing too much as it sorta just makes it a little more confusing. The art style is cute. Overall nothing crazy but not bad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super happy to report that the Switch 2 fixes the area in Jack Move that dipped in framerate a bit, something i could never get fixed in switch. (Its the area outside ryders house if youre interested) Fun to go back and play again too, its been a loooong time. We made a good video game (imho!)! 💖
positive · AI labelView post →I came to the conclusion that a great soundtrack and art style weren't strong enough to keep me engaged until the end. The first 30 minutes made me think that this game has some fun gimmicks around the hacking mechanic, but it turns out that hacking is nothing more than the traditional 'special attack' with a few cosmetic overhauls that are here only to serve the setting. The fact that there is only one playable character is baffling to me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty graphics, generic combat, poor writing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So slow paced. I'm trying to follow the story, and it's making me walk over town with no map or clues as to where to go. Also, every fight is super boring because you spend half the time looking at the animations play out which you can't skip. Too boring... just go play Shadowrun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun little game. not too long. I was able to finish the game over a couple sessions. Don't go looking into some complicated turn-based game. Your options for dmg are limited to 4 types and it is basically amounts to "is the enemy weak to this, then use this, etc". It has a lot of quality of life features. Probably my favorite is being able to turn off or double random encounters. I probably shaved off an hour of repetitive battles which would have been too easy and not provide any…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're on the fence, stay away. Otherwise consider it as decent enough snack in between some other stuff you can play. For me, this game underdelivered. It's got some good ideas, the graphical style is stunning, and it's not a 100-hour timesink. That said, the story was a bit bland and the gameplay balance/pacing seems a bit off making fights other than the boss battles boring real fast. There's a glaring lack of descriptions of stats and status effects. Also, it felt a bit *too* short. I'm…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I love the old RPG style games and played some, the game didn't really have much that captivated me. The world felt cramped and barely interactive. The dialogue was a bit stilted which made the story pretty forgettable. Moving around in the world felt slow. The battle system had some nice visuals but did not introduce anything too interesting despite having the potential. I am sure that this game have found and will find its fans and perhaps it starts to be more interesting after a while…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heya folks, here's a videograph featuring Jack Move by So Romantic and Hype Train Digital. This game is a pretty great indie RPG. It's also quite challenging at times as well. The dialogue can be a bit immature at times but I still like it. #jackmove #videogames #indiegames #rpg #videography
positive · AI labelView post →Some of the worst writing I've seen in a game. Couldn't subject myself to any more of the dialogue
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice pixel art (especially the animations) but my goodness the dialogue. The writers should be ashamed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is simplistic and dull. You might wonder how they added depth to the combat with just one player character in a turn-based system. The answer? They didn't.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has some good things going on for it. I love the retro vibe, between the CRT effects, the lighting, the sprite animations, it's a gorgeous game. It's short (6 to 10 hours) which I actually like since that means I can actually finish it :) . The developer did a decent job creating a lot of dialogue lines for NPCs which makes the world feel alive. The combat system has some good ideas. There's an important tip for anyone playing if you want to actually enjoy the combat system. You're…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →such a delightful narrative with lovable characters BRIMMING with spunk. Jack Move is the perfect length for when you're in need of a break from the ever-lengthening AAA games, or if you just want to play something lean and brimming with passion around every corner. i had a few minor gripes with the gameplay at times--sometimes an objective would tell you to go to a location with no real indication of where it actually is, so i'd find myself scrambling and retreading a bunch of areas just to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jack Move is a JRPG with a solid story and nice pixel art. After looking at some negative reviews, it seems that many people had higher expectations or were hoping for something different than what they got. So, before you dive in: yes, it’s short (around 8 hours to complete all the content), yes, you play as just one character, and yes, it’s a JRPG with turn-based battles that mostly pop up randomly as soon as you enter certain areas of the (rather small) game world. I enjoyed this game and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →#3 Jack Move- I really really wish I had more praise to give a turn based RPG that I beat in less than 7 hours. Unfortunately as it goes on, the encounter rates skyrocket and the XP gains get stingier. Sadly, running the game at 1440p also seemed to cause motion-sickening jitters with the pixel art.

For that reason, it might be worth investing in the creators endeavor for their potential future. Its important to support independent projects like this.
