Some reviewers note the game is short, with playtimes around 3 to 5 hours. [1][2] The voice acting for Holmes and Watson is praised, even in this different genre. [3][4][5]

I've been going through all of Frogwares' Sherlock Holmes titles and this is the second hidden object game in the series. Although it is a different style of game to the main titles it was nice to hear the voice actors for Holmes and Watson back again. They are always a highlight and generally the audio in the game is decent. It continues on from the end of the last title Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Ripper where …

It's a simple and enjoyable game! Just give it a try, and don't think about the old graphics. Old-school adventure awaits you. It has a good story, and you all wanted to complete it at one time. It is only like 5 hours. Enjoy it!

If you've read The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle, be warned that this game doesn't follow the story of the novel at all, but does use the locations and some of the characters. Instead, this is a hidden objects game along with some light puzzles, which makes it very different to the other Sherlock Holmes games in the Frogwares series. However, it's all done very well and I enjoyed my time with the …

This was so very, very bad. Basically the ENTIRE backstory, motivations, characters, and mystery have been changed, and Sherlock now has magic powers that he uses to defeat the hound and the house itself. I still enjoyed it, from a bewildered standpoint, but I can't say it's a good adaptation. The puzzles were (mostly) good, and there was a working map, so I'll recommend this weird game.

Unlike the original book, this game's following a fantasy story. Personally I think that was a smart choice of the creators, because else wise real Sherlock Holmes fans would already know the plot (by the way, the unexpected ending was surprsing me in a good way). The gameplay is a genre mix between click and point adventure and hidden object games. Most times it sticks to the click and point part, but for receiving …

neutral · AI labelView post →It's got some old school charm but some very frequent gameplay sections are just unbearable. Can barely be called a game, barely be called a mystery This version isn't even the full game, the "Collector's Edition" has a bonus chapter that ties up the game's ending...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Half-baked, barely voice-acted pixel hunting garbage. So many high quality games released in this 2007-2012 era, and this game seems to be stuck in the 90's
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fantasy, sci-fi Sherlock and the Hound of the Baskervilles about time travel. I LIKE IT!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hi, I'm back again already, less than 24 hours after submitting my review of Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper. My journey through Frogware's games about the legendary detective has brought me to another hidden object adventure game. Unlike the Persian Carpet, this is a bog standard HOAG like so many others I've played and reviewed. There are no detective elements; just find objects and do interactions. Shockingly, this hidden object game has the same incredible voice actors for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dr. Watson: Holmes, I must ask—how did you come to solve this most bewildering affair? Sherlock Holmes: Elementary, Watson. It began with a set of candles hidden in the wardrobe. Dr. Watson: Curious. And then? Sherlock Holmes: I used them to access the corridor concealed behind the mirror. There, I found marionette strings and with the aid of a wolf’s head, I journeyed into the past. Henry Baskerville: Pardon? Sherlock Holmes: Naturally, I then retrieved a crystal eye and entered the past…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First playthrough review time. This game is a point-click-and-explore adventure, offering a unique experience distinct from the usual Sherlock stories. It's a Hound of Baskerville tale, standing out from other narratives in the Sherlock universe. It's got a supernatural theme, a strong story, excellent narration, and really good puzzles and hidden object scenes. To put it simply, this is a click-and-explore adventure game. It's got a good story, interesting puzzles, and a few extra features…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A wonderfully atmospheric reimagining that seamlessly blends classic deduction with clever mechanical innovations for a highly rewarding puzzle experience. If you are thinking of picking up this particular hidden-object adventure, it is an exceptionally well-crafted title that breathes fresh life into a classic Victorian gothic tale. While purists might be surprised by its bold narrative swings, the execution delivers an engaging loop of smart puzzle design, immersive environments, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is just average. It’s a passable puzzle/hidden object game, but its flaws ultimately led me to leave a negative review. For starters, it takes far too many liberties with the original story, it feels more like Edgar Allan Poe than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Additionally, while almost every puzzles are reasonably balanced, Charles' door puzzle is ridiculously difficult and practically requires skipping or cheating. The achievements are mostly fine, except for the one that demands…

neutral · AI labelView post →The game mechanics were fun, but the story is crap! I read the book 2-3 days prior to playing this game, and the story in the book is way better than what was put in the game. I was really looking forward to seeing how particular scenes from the book would be shown in a HO game, but most of the characters from the book are not in the game including the bad guy! How do you not include the story's bad guy in this game? And since most characters weren't in the game, that means most scenes from the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very good older HOG with an interesting story. There is fast travel on the map, except for when you finish locations they will disappear from it. You can still revisit the normal way if you choose to. The beat the game achievement is mislabelled. So you do have to play two full runs in order to get all of the achievements. Make sure to play on the same profile to get them all. The HO pictures are decently hard in this game. The puzzles are variable with one extremely hard puzzle. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great HIO. Always fun to play through it. I always love this old HIOs with the feeling of nostalgia. The puzzles vary from pretty easy to very hard. The chracters and the story are really cool and the mechanics are very fun. A typical oldie but goldie and totally worth playing over and over again. I can really highly recommend this game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →STOP and ready this Now! THIS is exactly what a Big Fish, 5BN, Elephant, Artifex Mudavi game should be! It was beyond excellent. There was a story, the power-ups you earned had functions, every single item made perfect sense, no obscure puzzles, there weren't too many HOPs, you always knew what to do next, no backtracking, very long game with lots of locations, characters to guide you with just the right amount of dialog. Every other developer should be required to play this game to improve all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every few games Frogwares decides to pivot into a hidden object game for some reason. It doesn't feel very 'Sherlock Holmes' but, if you know what you're expecting, it's a good time. The puzzles are generally interesting, and the plot is enjoyable, if a bit silly. Some of the powers that you unlock feel kind of goofy, but they aren't used so much as to become annoying. The in-game achievement display got me, and I played through the game again to get the remaining achievements.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the Sherlock Holmes games and I love hidden object-games. This is neither a good Sherlock Holmes game NOR a good hidden object-game. If you're a fan of Sherlock Holmes, all the fantastical elements like time-travel, superhuman abilities and supernatural monsters is going to frustrate the hell out of you from a narrative standpoint (even if we have the OG voiceactors for Holmes and Watson). And if you are a fan of hidden object-games, you may get annoyed by some of the puzzles here.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sherlock Holmes and The Hound of The Baskervilles is a compelling adaptation of one of Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous and enduring tales, brought to life in an interactive format that allows players to step into the shoes of the legendary detective himself. The game successfully captures the eerie atmosphere and gothic mystery of the original novel, immersing players in the fog-shrouded moors and sinister landscapes surrounding Baskerville Hall. It offers a rich narrative experience combined…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice old school HOG that is worth trying. pros. nice story ok gameplay time (a bit less than 3 hours) ok voice acting i really liked that when you collect enough items for some spots it tells you if you want to teleport to the solution location just the right amount of difficulty cons. even though the resolution is high the graphics is a bit low quality no bonus chapter overall a really enjoyable HOG. i give it 7/10 +1 for the cards =8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun! A nice combination of hidden objects and brainteasers. The medallion powers add a little bit of extra variety to the whole thing, and there's some fun in the plot, although not much sense! Not a long game, but that's good - it doesn't outstay its welcome.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love how Holmes be like: - yeah I think we timetraveled, that's my theory - let's exploit this magic medalion, come on, don't freeze on me - cool, the whole manor is booby-trapped - jewels that do magic? nice, shiny, take them all! - paintings change themselves and mannequins' eyes move. casual thing to see. But when Watson later says that Baskervilles are cursed he's like: - nah John ur stupid, supernatural does not exist. It could not have been a dog, that's silly!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game, especially all the puzzles. I highly recommend it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting story in beautiful settings. Imagery, mood are very nicely done.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked this up because I'm a Holmes fan, and I should warn other fans that it has almost nothing to do with the Doyle novel: the hound is an actual demon, and there's magic and even a bit of time travel. Once I stopped expecting a faithful adaptation, I had a good time with it. The hidden object scenes feel like they belong to the story, the five special abilities you unlock add something to the puzzles, and the map with quick travel saved me a lot of pointless backtracking. Most puzzles are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Certainly a "Puzzle" game in name only. Aside from two puzzles that were actually engaging and one that was unreasonably hard in comparison to the rest on the game (played on hard), this game holds your hands and constantly praises you for doing ANYTHING in the game. This is a great game for someone in elementary school as aside from Call of Duty 4 music that keeps blaring in your ear non stop it is a fairly competently made game that would be fun for an hour or two for someone who isn't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know the Sherlock Holmes stories are old and well known but to actually completely disregard the spirit of the series and make the whole thing a rather lazy mostly hidden objects game with a weak supernatural mystery is just sad. I was hoping for a game with a new twist on the old story to keep it fresh but this was just sad in my opinion. The whole over reliance of hidden object puzzles really ruined this for me in game play, as for the story changing a story about Holmes uncovering the not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely insane take on the classic Holmes story, which is something I did not expect from Frogwares. Having said that, they have really done one of the most pleasant casual adventures around... if you turn off the music. The hint system works, the puzzles are just cumulative enough, and the plot is absolute nonsense that has very little to do with the original story, with Sherlock or with whatever, and this is laudatory.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very hidden object/puzzle forward--a fun play!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic H.O.G for anyone who both a fan of Sherlock Holmes and the gameplay itself!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game and love the story. I seem to be stuck in the painting where one needs to rub off the access, well it has become lazy and does not wish to work and I was getting my hopes up that finally I found a game that works. Steam and Valve are not much help lately when something is broken and I have a lot of them! To bad I was enjoying the game untill I got the glitch with the sponge and not wanting to wipe the paintiing clean!!

I would say every area has been improved, graphics are more interesting, characters add personality, and I also found the ending gave me a smile. Embracing the Hidden-Object formula was a good move. I played hard difficulty and found it a comfortable level, there was one puzzle I needed a guide for and thankfully it has one on the Steam Guides page. Puzzles are a lot clearer than the…

It has great atmosphere, good challenging puzzles on top of the hidden object stuff and is all in all very good. The background music loop is excellent imo. Maybe I'm also biased as I love the book? Who knows. Worth giving a playthrough :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite a cool game both in terms of plot and in terms of solving puzzles. I am glad that this game has achievements, although after completing the game on the maximum difficulty, the achievement for easy difficulty, alas, for some reason was not given :( My rating: ✭✭✭✭✰
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10/10 for nostalgia! Exactly how I remember it as a child! Highly recommended for the warm and fuzzy feelings it brought inside. My inner child came alive. :) Outside of this, as with any decade old games, it does have quite a few bugs and the puzzles can be a bit annoying at times. However, they do not distract from the joys it brings to an inner child that once played this back in the day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun point and click hidden object game with an interesting story. Has a number of other puzzles to complete, which is the only part I found let it down. Some of the other puzzles were more frustrating than interesting to solve, and there was often a delay before it would confirm I had the right answer, which meant I spent about 10 mins trying to figure out what I had done wrong with one puzzle only to end up back at my original answer, sit there staring at it for about 10 seconds trying to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is mostly a hidden object game, with a fair amount of basic puzzles. The voice acting is reasonably good and the story works as far as it goes. It's not a point & click adventure like other Sherlock Holmes games, but knowing that going in, it's pretty fun/addictive for an afternoon. I wouldn't buy for more than a a couple bucks, but if you want a casual game to play, it's good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely. Christopher Lee. Nigel Bruce and Basil Rathbone. The classics. So many vampire fans born! Not forgetting one of my favourites, Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles.
