What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 187 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Negative (247 of 632 positive).
Players say this is a hidden object game, not a typical Sherlock Holmes adventure. [1][2][3] Many complain that hidden objects are tiny and blend into the background. [4][5][6] Some find the puzzles decent and the game enjoyable despite its flaws. [7][8][9]

The game is okay, I guess... (It was on sale in a bundle and cost like 1.50€) It is different from all the other Frogwares Sherlock Holmes games which are mainly point-and-click adventures. This one is a Hidden Object game with puzzles in between. Even on the highest difficulty the game is pretty easy. A few objects are annoyingly small or have nearly the same colour as the background (clicking all over the screen …

Recommendation: A simple, linear hidden object game in which you play Sherlock Holmes gathering and analyzing clues. Critique: This is a really interesting contrast with a more deduction-oriented game like "The Curse of the Golden Idol." Despite it being a game about Sherlock Holmes, there is very little deduction here (really almost none is needed); it's all about detection (which is to say, finding hidden …

WOW this game is NOT good. I know it's old but WOW. Finding the hidden objects is incredibly difficult when the objects are TINY and put in places where they practically BLEND INTO THE BACKGROUND. The absolute worse offenders of this is having to find strands of hair or shoe prints or ashes in dark areas or areas with a lot of details. Most of my time searching was squinting and rapidly clicking around and praying …

The Good: At times, it could be a fun hidden object game with decent puzzles. The OK: The story, I guess. The plot and overall case was fine, as long as you realize this is an older game, with a simpler story line following a hidden object search. If you're ok with that, it was decent enough. The Bad: As many other reviews said, some of the hidden objects were really nonsensical to find, and a few of the puzzles I …

This is a Hidden Object game. Not really a Sherlock Holmes game. I'm a fan of Hidden Object game, but as far as those games go, this one is still pretty bad, and dated. I suppose if you're a fan of those, and Sherlock, you MAY find mindless enjoyment in this. (Only get it on sale though. Other than that, you really should do yourself a favor and pass on this particular title

If you're a GrapheneOS user, it's worth being aware of the consequences of revealing device identifiers, which give away privileged device info, effectively fingerprinting your phone permanently. It's packaged in the "Gold Cartridge" form common for Mark III (Master System) games, but don't be fooled, this is actually an SG-1000 game. positive · AI labelView post →There was a moment in our Sherlock Holmes game last night that was a sort of investigative trapeze, where the writer throws out a clue and we have to catch it, and there's no mechanical support, no net, and if we miss it, the whole scenario falls flat. But if the players are attentive, it's magic.

There's a reason media is playing catchup and there's a film and game in the works. Even if the setting isn't something you're into, give it a go. It'll surprise you.
neutral · AI labelView post →The spoiler-free pitch is basically “Girlboss Sherlock Holmes, set in a pseudohistorical version of the Forbidden City”. It’s definitely one of the more creative and interesting anime series right now. The art and production quality are stellar too.
