What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 174 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (1,831 of 2,268 positive).
Players praise the game's unique demonic apocalypse theme and its blend of base building, colony management, and research. [1][2][3] Some reviewers find the game repetitive, unbalanced, and lacking depth compared to other colony sims. [4][5][6] Several players note that the game can be frustrating due to difficulty spikes and reliance on save scumming. [7][8][9]

Feel like a flash game. Not really have any depth like other colony sim games. And if you look deeper you would see this is not really a colony sims either. Just a tower defense game with a scavenge mechanic on top. Combat is plain and boring, everything is depending on your gear. If the demons is kicking your ass, just try to rush to the next tier of research and you will steamrolled them so much you don't even …

Thank you for this 5th anniversary update. I appreciate your efforts to update this after 5 years. To me, it shows commitment to your products and its customers. I'll take a better look at your new game.

So, it's fun... but also very weirdly unbalanced, and gets repetitive particularly when the progression is so slow. The difficulty goes from being super chill one minute and then suddenly everyone is dead the next. The trader is a joke, at least early on, as they are selling items for thousands of dollars while I only have a few bucks, and all my stuff sells for $1 or $2 for some reason. Feels like with some …

it's like rimworld had a weird kid that they are really disappointed in. not as much detail or complexities to the colony building aspect but easier for stupid idiots like me and it has demons :3

Haven't found another game with devils invading the world in the style of "The Stand." Its straight forward base building colony sim that uses science and magic to advance.

neutral · AI labelView post →For "Random" Game Saturday, here's Castlevania Judgment on the anniversary of its series. Judgment gets a bit of a bum rap, IMO. I won't claim it's a hidden gem, and it is really lacking in content or complexity for an arena fighter. But for a few hours of goofing around, there is fun to be had.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Starts strong, but then it's basically a mobile game, basically one mission with randomized enemy variety repeated ad nauseam. The base building and colony management is good, I really enjoy the rituals and magic. The combat is good but the mission design is mind numbingly boring feeling like little more than syndicate/commandos with demons. Combat rarely lasts more than a minute and is basically a quick combat skirmish. You can ignore the enemies and just loot the objectives but it's quicker…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a slasher! By that I mean that this game is good / bad On the one hand, it is a good base management game with overworld map scavenging. The concept is a good one but there are a lot of flaws that I feel that can't be overcome. First of all the scavenging. Around your base, you go chop down trees and forage for stuff and mine rocks. This is the same for the overworld scouting. However, those goods dry up and you have to go farther and farther out the map. This is good / bad…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is over (Judgment Day has arrived)
neutral · AI labelView post →'tough' mode is built around the idea that you HAVE TO save scum to win. Not just every once in awhile. No. Dozens of times per game day. You just reroll until you get lucky. Over and over and over again. Don't believe me? Check any guide on the topic. Every single one will tell you that reloading is a key part of beating it. I've never seen anything like it. It's insanely stupidly bad design.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What it tries to do, it does well. If you're looking for a base defense game, it's good at that. You're constantly on a timer against ramping attacks, and you need to research up and beat the game before the attacks overwhelm you. Time management is key, although once you figure out the optimizations you don't often need to adapt your strategy, so it can feel a little shallow. You fight directly on the map, but combat is an isolated instance with frozen time where the only thing you can do…

neutral · AI labelView post →There are plenty of games that mix difficult and punishing with fun and rewarding to make a good game. This is not one of them. While the beginning can be fun, there's little to no sense of progression, as the enemies just get stronger with the actual fighting not changing as you progress, leaving no sense of achievement. The mechanics to control your survivors also get extremely clunky as you progress, which means you spend most of your time trying to micromanage your troops instead of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The biggest problem with this game is there is a number of much better colony sims. This game just doesn't feel very fun. It's tedious and mechanically shallow. Combat isn't fun, colony management isn't fun, and it feels just barely better than a web game. The building is also overly simplistic, there's no freeform building. You build pre-designed structures that face forward. The flat design of the structures and backgrounds contrasts heavily with the 3D design of the characters. The game…

neutral · AI labelView post →This game makes me feel like I'm wasting my time. For a game that is mostly about team management, it is really bad at it. You will assign a team member to harvest a resource and they will constantly try to perform another task that you do not want them to perform. If there is an open research bench, good luck stopping them from harvesting anything. The World map is just a bunch of locations where you fight and potentially gain resources. Many of the most basic items are locked behind a ton of…

neutral · AI labelView post →Gets very repetitive quick. Not much of a colony sim - just throw some buildings down and you'll be good. Exploration missions get boring quick, so at some point you just walk around from point to point and autoresolve. Has some performance issues; starts to struggle more and more as you get more people doing more stuff in the background. Very little variety. Keeps repeating the same two or three events on a loop.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's like rimworld had a weird kid that they are really disappointed in. not as much detail or complexities to the colony building aspect but easier for stupid idiots like me and it has demons :3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not well balanced, and incredibly simple and repetitive procedural generated maps when exploring the world made this become stale very quickly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't play any games that has the tags this game has. I don't like the genre, they're too difficult and I feel like I'm wasting my time. This game however just feels great. I can easily sit for hours managing my people, craft stuff, build everything available. I'm enjoying everything about this. It's still a bit confusing, but the easy difficulty is enough for me to get through with minimal frustration.

neutral · AI labelView post →tl;dr: good base building, horrible, annoying, boring combat. Let's get combat out of the way first. There are two kinds of combat: auto-combat and manual. In scavenging missions you can choose to auto-resolve or manage combat manually. In rescue missions (which is how you get new survivors; you rescue them from demons), story missions, support missions (when you are called to support other colonies) and when enemies attack your base you only have the option to fight manually. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game design is ehh... questionable, in so many aspects, specially for a survival colony sim that seems to be more focused around characters. For example: - colonists gather resources, but there is no stockpiling, so resources just go into a magical bag of holding [immersion-breaking for the genre]. - you can change the look of cars, characters, and certain buildings at no cost, as if it was some sort of creative mode or something left lingering from Dev tools. I find this particularly absurd…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It just wasn't that fun or entertaining, plain and simple. Early game is okayish, I enjoyed the base building for some 10 hours and even chased after some achievements. It exceeded my expectations: You don't have to chop the trees yourself, you just give the task and your citizens chop the trees. Amazing. But the game designer is smart. He has added another feature: Plant new trees. Woah, that guarantees endless tree chopping! I later found out that there is even more hidden content so that more demanding…
